I attended the Snow Goose this morning for a drink with my friend and to my absolute horror a woman came over to a young waitress on the coffee machine and tore a strip off her loudly telling her "she was not to be serving coffees all day but to pull her weight and help out with other tasks". The young girl was highly embarrassed knowing that the whole cafe and other staff members heard this. What amazed me more is that I found out it was the manager called Katie who was abusive and spoke down to this young waitress. The manager made no effort in her appearance wearing cropped jeans a t shirt and a grey hoodie. She was hard faced, unfriendly and should not be in the position of a manager. We are regular customers but will no longer return as our experience today was spoilt. This so called manager's attitude towards the staff was disgraceful.

My wife and I lived for many years in Sunderland before moving to Berkshire. During the last 4 months however, we've had to make many return visits, in order to visit my very ill sister in Newcastle Freeman hospital. During that time, we've visited the Snow Goose café on at least 6 occasions and have been very impressed each time. Staff have been efficient and friendly, food, simple but tasty and quickly served. Even on hot days, when a queue forms outside the café, the staff quickly prepare tables so that waiting times are as short as possible. On top of all this, its situated at the Marina, so has a lovely outlook. So all in all, we thoroughly recommend this place and cannot understand the few derogatory reports that we've read.

Excellent Service and Food at the eatery on the South Shields docks. It was busy but the waitresses had time to ensure every table and chair was cleaned before the next customer was put there. We had delicious coffee and superb warm scones- cheese for me and my companion fruit. Could not have been better and at a reasonable price. Good view of the harbour too from our window seats.

Had not been to The Snow Goose for quite some time, then visited twice within 2 weeks. Really like the Toasties here, plenty of filling and served with a fresh crisp side salad. My Husband ordered Welsh Rarebit with bacon on the top, which he thoroughly enjoyed. We were served by friendly staff and did not have long to wait. The prices are very reasonable considering you are on the Marina. I agree with other reviews regarding the car park. There are plenty of signs around and as long as you enter your car registration number in the machine located outside The Snow Goose, you will get 2 hours free parking.

Would avoid at all costs and am telling all friends and family to do the same after the shocking behaviour towards my mother in law and nana this afternoon. I could count on one hand the amount of times that nana has been out since beginning of covid due to suffering from an immunosuppressant disorder. She is still extremely cautious for obvious reasons. Mother in law picked her up to get her some fresh air and drove to the marina and noticed the snow goose was open. She asked if they did paper cups which she was informed they did. She ordered two cups of tea and sat nana outside only to be told that to sit outside you have to have china cups not paper. My mother in law explained the situation and that she would rather not use china cups due to her mother being 80+ and having her immune disorder. The lady she spoke to had no sympathy and advised would have move or have china cups. There was no one waiting for tables this was at 3-4pm and was quiet. She then watched my mother in law carry the two teas to her car and then have to come back to help her mother walk back to the car as she couldn’t unassisted.

Have been coming for years but won't be back Upon arrival we chose to sit outside as the weather was nice but had to wait whilst table and chairs were sprayed and cleaned fair enough. The family next to us then ordered. We ordered crab sandwiches only to be told this was unavailable. So we ordered prawn sandwiches and 1 pot of Earl Grey tea with a extra tea bag and 1 pot of Earl Grey without the extra tea bags. They brought out the tea in 1 pot and the saucers were stained . The family next to us were served pretty much straight away we had to wait an extra 25 minutes approx for our sandwiches and upon arrival i asked the waitress what took so long she said i dont know i haven't been in the kitchen no apologie. My bread on the sandwich was stale and dry and upon paying i was asked if everything was ok which i answer no only to be told by the waitress ive been on my break. And they wonder why little cafes are shutting down.

After walking three miles with the dog, I popped in for a coffee. I asked for it in a takeaway cup so I could continue with my walk. Rather than continuing straight away I sat down outside with the dog for what would have been 5 minutes max. Unfortunately my 5 minutes rest was cut short by a very rude member of staff talking loudly at me saying I couldn’t sit there with a takeaway cup and that I must move on. This was very embarrassing for for me, and it was as though she found pleasure in humiliating me in front of other customers. At the time I purchased my coffee there was no one waiting for a table so I wasn’t causing any issues by sitting there. I asked for the coffee to be put in a normal cup to which she replied it was too busy to do so and that I had to move. It is evident that this member of staff is missing key customer service skills and needs spoken with or you will continue to lose business as I will not purchase from you again.

Having visited this establishment for lunch with my sister during our lunch hour from work, and having made a special trip for my sister's birthday, we were confronted with a young girl member of staff in approximately her 20's who proceeded to dish out filthy looks to us every time she passed us for no apparent reason. On some occasions she was smirking following her filthy look as she walked past us and on other occasions she was shaking her head. I visited here by myself while my son did water sports at the marina. Very welcoming. Waitress came to table to take order you pay on the way out. Felt very comfortable sitting by myself. Will definitely visit again

Called in to The Snow Goose for a quick lunch and I wasn't disappointed - delicious panini and salad with great selection of beverages! Hot spiced apple juice highly recommended- fantastic aspect overlooking the marina. Lots of outside provision to enjoy the sun and vibe too; highly recommended are the cakes and scones! An angel must bake them; the marzipan scone is to die for and the cakes are just exceptional.

I would love to know where the maps came from and how they were converted to rolls of wallpaper. No one in the cafe knew.

Heard about the tea cake with cinnamon butter and had to give it a try. Very good and also do nice scones. They do quiche and a selection of sandwiches. One was ham and pease pudding, not something I've seen much on menus. Also noticed they do fresh crab sandwiches which I must go back to try.Nice location at Sunderland Marina in Roker with free parking right outside. Service was very good.

We were looking for somewhere with easy access and parking and read about The Snow Goose in the reviews so we decided to give it a try.Easy parking as it was raining and we had a baby with us.Very friendly staff, and the food came quickly BUT two of us ordered Quiche Lorraine and got celery and Stilton instead, woops! It didn't really matter as it was delicious but the salad was just one piece of tomato and a bit of lettuce with a little dish of mayonnaise. It could have been a bit more on the plate and where was the coleslaw? You always get coleslaw with salad! I appreciate lots of people do leave the salad so maybe that's why they only give you a small amount. We all had the homemade lemon cake served warm with thick cream. Not for the dieters.Caffe Latte was lovely. It was about £24 for three of us which I thought was great value for money and we will certainly go back there.

Went down as the sun was shining and it was lovely and warm. Nice large seating area over looking the marina. Service very efficient and staff very pleasant. Mam ordered corned beef pie- which was amazing, large portion topped with mash, & came with salad, crisps and pickle on the side, mam was very impressed, & I ordered cheese and ham toastie-lovely and 2 cappuccinos which were good. Nice varied menu, cant fault the staff or the cafe itself. Lovely seating area inside for when the weather is not so good, but it is very homely. Cant wait to go back.

The Snow Goose is a great place to meet up for chat and a snack. In fine weather it is great to sit outside and enjoy the views of the marina. The staff are super friendly, helpful and attentive. (We sat outside and we certainly weren't forgotten about.) Inside is cosy and pleasant but can get quite busy. If you are out on a bike ride along the coast the Snow Goose is very convenient to drop in for refreshments.

joined our best friends for coffee here yesterday, I can understand that on a sunny day the location would be beautiful overlooking the Marina at Roker. The cafe was clean and well presented. We found the service to be good, and the coffee and cakes were very nice. However, I think that as the cakes are home made they should be displayed for customers to chose, we opted for the raspberry and white chocolate tray bake which was delicious it was served warm with fresh cream. One of our friends had egg served on a muffin. There is quite a range of snacks on offer both savoury and sweet and the staff were very efficient. We will definitely call again on a sunny day

Does anyone know if the Riverview brasserie restaurant over at the Stadium of light in Sunderland is still open or not. Because me and my dad are about to go there for a Father's Day lunch out on the 18th June and every time me and my dad kept on phoning them it just ends up with nobody answering the phone. So could someone kindly send me a reply message back and let me know to see if the Riverview brasserie restaurant at the stadium of light in Sunderland to see if it's open or not.

I eat here often as i work locally. I find the choice of food to be varied and look forward to the welcoming smile of the Owners/Staff. I believe this is the best 'Sandwich Shop' in Sunderland and would highly recommend.

Food was good but overpriced. Most upsetting was the time it took for the kitchen to serve us. Waitress was helpful & pleasant but caught in the middle. Either systems poor or need more kitchen staff....waited nearly an hour. Shame because it's a nice place but bit overpriced.

I thought school dinners were bad, but this place tops it with being the worse place I have eaten in. We visited with family for Sunday lunch big mistake. We were sitting not far from the microwave which we heard pinging every few minutes then food was served, food must be plated up and reheated, the veg was practically raw, as for the roasties(potatoes) well these were rock hard u could do some serious damage with these. There is no restaurant or carvery that I have eaten in can do a roastie as good as home, a fresh cooked home roast is so much better and Cheaper I definitely won’t be going back.
