The Snooty Fox in Cotswold

We stayed at the hotel and had a deal for breakfast and a £30 meal supplement each for one night through Secret Escapes. We then booked another night ourselves through the hotel and got a great deal, with a cream tea, £25 meal supplement each and breakfast. We also got given the most terrific room for the 2nd night which had a fourposter and it really did make our stay. Thanks to all the staff at the Snooty Fox, but in particular Cris who seemed to be on reception and man of all talents in the dining room also. We do feel he went above to make sure we had the best stay possible. Also thank you to Angie who was so helpful also. We love Tetbury, there is so much to visit nearby so we will definitely be back again.

Stopped at Snooty Fox for lunch and ordered a smoked salmon starter , expecting a piece of toast and a couple pieces of salmon. Out came a 1/5 of a piece of toast with salmon balanced on it and edible flowers. More style than substance . Really poor . Chef - more toast , salmon and ditch the edible flowers

We had afternoon tea here absolutely sensational staff are wonderful couldn’t do enough for you. Would thoroughly recommend best afternoon tea we have ever had.

Grey damp and cold day, stopped off on way through - used to come here Years ago. Service was a bit lacking, multi-tasking obviously not a skill here - settled on sandwiches which were OK but a bit pricey. Plus point was a roaring log fire.

We visited a number of times in a short period at what was an emotional time as we were in town to say goodbye to a dear friend. The bar is a lovely space and we had a couple of lunches sat at one of the tall tables. Bar menu was very nice, there was a decently priced wine list and it was a good spot to get a bit of work done and chill out with a few drinks. We came back a third time as they were hosting the wake. The food was lovely and everything went off well. The staff were great and happy to accommodate anything we wanted. We will absolutely be back next time we are in Tetbury.

Booked last year on Christmas Eve and had a good experience. Booked for Christmas Eve 2024 and not so good. Booked in November. When we arrived seemed like we were not expected. Shown to back room where no one else sat. Thought ok at least quiet. Ordered drinks and then food. Then loads of scraping of chairs and tables around us to accommodate party of people who hadn’t booked. When our food came everyone staring as party of people had been sat at the side of us. Our food was bad two steaks overcooked and were grey and tasteless. Will vote with my feet and will mot arrive next year!

Snooty fox by name; relaxed, friendly and superb by nature. My wife and I had a night away after Christmas to relax and we loved every minute. The service was exceptional and the food was brilliant.

Ate here with friends in a tour through the area as recommended by our guide. By far the best chips ever! They are cooked three times and are crisp on the outside and soft on the inside. GREAT!!! The staff was friendly. Mostly of our group had sandwiches for our lunch. All were good. I highly recommend the restaurant if you are in the area!

Popped in for lunch and stayed for the afternoon! Great food with friendly service. The staff made both human and doggie guests feel very welcome. Food was top quality. Not cheap, but worth the price. After lunch, we enjoyed drinks in the bar. Top find. Look forward to visiting again

Truly excellent, most jovial member of staff named Fin made for a very pleasant experience. We popped in for coffee and he was so welcoming. If only every hospitality enterprise employed such a lovely, most talented and polite young man as he.

We dropped into the Snooty Fox for a late lunch on 27th October as we had fine memories of past visits. Apart from being served undrinkable, warm white wine in a dirty glass, I contracted a serious case of food poisoning which necessitated a week off work and medical assistance. Prawn cocktail was actually small shrimps which at the time, did not seem fresh, but as they were smothered in sauce and it was a small starter portion, I ate it and later bitterly regretted it. I contacted the hotel by email and phone and left messages requested a returned call, to no avail. Such an approach is unacceptable and I worry that others older than me and in less good health could have been even more impacted. This was the only food I ate last Sunday and I was in great health beforehand so I have no doubt what the culprit was. I do not expect such failures in basic food hygiene in 2024.

Three of us had an outstanding Sunday lunch. The food was excellent, especially the carefully roast root vegetables and freshly cooked greens - and lavish quantities. A separate large gravy boat was very much appreciated as well as two of the party (just!) managing a delicious desert. Above all, the friendly, helpful service made a very special time - we shall certainly return!

Nice little old hotel restaurant in the centre of Tetbury. Perfect spot for a beer and wine. It’s well appointed and located in the center of town.

3 of us had weekday lunch in wonderful Tetbury. Service slow but decor and food nice so would return for that reason plus in center of village which is great.

Had dropped into the hotel on several occasions for drinks whilst staying in Tetbury & decided to book a table for an evening meal. The food was of very good quality, I had pie & it was gorgeous. We were looked after by 2 different bar staff, 1 was dark haired & dark rimmed glasses, the other had a shaven head (sorry I didn’t get your names). Both were very attentive & looked after us well. Keep up the good work, this is a lovely hotel, very friendly & in the centre of Tetbury.

Usual British bed and breakfast. Presents as posh, but in reality, tired, old fashioned and in need of money spent. Optional food was very good, but bar prices were outragious.

Booked well in advance for a restaurant table for a birthday meal. When told we had a reservation the bar person looked totally confused. He went away saying nothing and on his return led us to what he described as “the best table” in the place. I was surprised by his description because it was just inside the door in a draughty area with 4 small (and sticky) tables. If it was the best then I am glad I didn’t get the chance to see the others. When ordering drinks the “waiter” guffawed when we did not order alcohol and said “not very exciting” ha ha. The bar was full of workman who then proceeded to noisily take down the scaffolding fronting the hotel. We ordered burgers which prompted a hurried “cheese and bacon” and fish and chips. The food arrived and was ok not special and not anywhere near the asking price especially when the “cheese and bacon” added up to an extra six pounds (£6) and this for 2 rashers of bacon and 2 squares of cheese. Added to which there was a 10% (optional) surcharge for “service” which was probably 8% more than deserved. Overall NOT a good experience and nobody wants to feel that they have been well and truly ripped off. We unfortunately did and could not recommend the snooty fox.

I eat here every year whilst working at Badminton Horse Trials. It’s always been very nice, however this year it went up a level. New menu, I wouldn’t say it’s “flush” with choice but most importantly what we had (both nights) was really delicious and cooked really well. I had a pie,mash, veg and can honestly say it was one of the better I’ve had in quite a while. Veg and mash had a load of flavour and weren’t just your regular bland accompaniments. Friend had rack of ribs which was large, and delicious. Sticky toffee pudding was really tasty, and well presented if you care about that sort of thing. Second night I had a Cajun chicken burger which was also very good, great fries. Friend had mushroom risotto which tasted great. We were so impressed. Mains were circa £16-20 and (sad to say about the UK) this is now below average price for mains, particularly in this county. Star of the show however was Richard, who firstly recalled me from the previous years, and was just spot on in terms of his attitude and service. Top guy, who they are fortunate to have. Staffing is obviously high on the agenda here because the other gentleman was equally as nice, and even the young guy behind the bar was ultra polite and smiley. Just great to see.

Really nice location, not been here before but came with friends. Great service from the team but as they got busier at the bar we didn't see the staff as much and some dirty plates were left on the table. In the end we had to get up to pay. Food was nice and reasonably priced, I had Fish and Chips and the Fish was really nice although chips were slightly overcooked.

We booked a night in a standard room for a Saturday night. Standard room is exactly what it says, but has everything you could want. Bed was comfy, and the room was incredibly clean. We would have no issues staying here again. We had a bar meal late afternoon and it was very good quality and at a good price. Breakfast was really good. We were asked if we wanted our teapot topped up 3 times, and the menu selection was first class, and as we booked direct the breakfast was included. The level of service at breakfast was exceptional, but this applied for all the staff who went above and beyond. You were made to feel welcome and as a guest.

We had a 3 course lunch booked as a gift so had never been before. We loved it! All the staff were very welcoming and helpful. Steve was very patient with me as I do have anxiety. I've had people roll their eyes at me or just look bored if I'm not sure on certain things but I was made to feel very welcome. The food was excellent and hot, portion sizes were good too! We are definitely going back again .

We had been gifted a voucher and selected The Snooty Fox as it's not too far away and somewhere we've not eaten before. After making the booking for a Tuesday evening we were doubtful we'd made the right choice as we read some very critical reviews from other voucher customers. We need not have worried though! The staff were friendly and efficient, the bar and dining room both warm and comfortable, and all three courses and the wine very enjoyable (whilst the roast potatoes may have been "triple cooked" the flavour was delicious). Recently, I had a Sunday roast dinner here and had a fantastic day. We booked our table as it was very busy. The Sunday menu is very extensive with other things on it in addition to the roast lunches. The food itself was great and staff very helpful and friendly. They even give our dog a small plate of dog treats to nibble on, which was a nice touch showing how caring they are towards animals in this dog friendly pub .

We thought The Snooty Fox looked welcoming and we were right ! Popped in Sunday evening for a pre show drink ( VoodoRoom @Tetbury goods shed ) Great log fire and nice beer choices . Tables cleaned after each use and friendly staff . Wished we’d been staying the night.

We have just got back from the Snooty Fox in Tetbury the name is indeed a misnomer , As we received a very warm welcome from the moment we went in. We sat near the open fire which was very cosy. The venue was spacious and comfortable. Our experience was improved by the lovely staff who were friendly and efficient. The food was first rate and reasonable for the price. For myself the stand out member of staff was Angie whose rapier wit was highly entertaining. We had a great time and would recommend this venue to all. We will be returning in the near future. As a local to Tetbury it's always good to experience the best places to eat and drink. We visited the snooty fox for Sunday roast lunch having never eaten here before. Our table was all set for us including a space for our small dog. Food choices from the menu was really extensive with many other choices if you didn't fancy the roast. Staff were very friendly and couldn't do enough to help. The whole experience was very pleasant and the roast was really tasty with at least 5 vegetables and a generous portion of beef. I would say from local knowledge that this is probably one of the best Sunday lunch menus in Tetbury and with the friendly staff it's well worth a visit any day of the week.

Came twice for the Christmas menu for two separate parties. Yes they were busy but I must say the service and food was excellent. The Christmas menu was lovely and very generous Portions. We had an Afternoon tea, which was part of a voucher we were given as a present. The staff were very helpful and welcoming as soon as we entered the Snooty Fox . The afternoon tea was excellent with plenty of sandwiches and cakes and scones and lots of tea. There was too much for us to eat so they gave a box to take away the cakes we could not manage. A very pleasant afternoon at the Snooty Fox. Great atmosphere .i would recommend.

We had a lovely evening here. We had a table in the bar area for dinner with friends and enjoyed a delicious meal. There was a great atmosphere, the fire was roaring and the lovely Angie needs a special mention. She was really friendly and attentive and nothing was too much trouble. A real asset!

We had two nights here as a Gift Voucher. The staff are very polite and helpful. We had dinner the first night. The menus are ambitious especially for breakfast and I felt they were sometimes challenged to reach the standard they were aiming for. The room was comfortable although the shower room was petty tight. It’s necessary to make allowances for the age of the property, however. The central heating didn’t seem to work but there was a plug in heater, which was fine. Our dog was fussed over by everyone. Parking was OK as we were able to park in the street at the side of the hotel overnight. There’s a car park just up the road for daytime parking. The hotel is right in the middle of the town and Tetbury is a charming little place. We enjoyed our visit to the Snooty Fox. Thank you.

My husband and I are from Stoke on Trent and we stopped off at Tetbury at the end of October. We were on route to Castle Combe for a long weekend. We decided to grab a bite to eat with a coffee and ventured into the Snooty Fox. It was past 11am and breakfast had finished, but lunch wasn’t available until 12pm. So we just ordered coffee. To our surprise, we were offered the breakfast menu, as the kind gentleman checked with the chef, who said we were ok to order. We opted for something simple, I ordered toast and my husband ordered toast with beans and egg. It was lovely when it came, loads of fresh toast with butter and a selection of jams. It just hit the spot. We asked where we could get a good pork pie from and the gentleman advised on Jesse Smith’s butchers. It was a quality pie. I thought I would write a review due to the lovely kindness and hospitality we were shown. We will definitely return to Tetbury and likewise the Snooty Fox.

The Snooty Fox is situated in the heart of Tetbury. It is a popular pub and was busy whilst we were there. We stayed for 2 nights and ate in the restaurant on both evenings. The food was very good and there was a good selection. The room was clean and tidy and actually very quiet at night even though on the main road.

Stayed for a couple of days just as a get away although it rained a lot the hotel was very nice, staff very friendly and accommodating, got upgraded to a superior room with them saying they had changed our room and with a nice surprise, which would indicate this as a free upgrade, on checkout we were told there is an extra charge of £60 for the room, this was questionable and as a good will gestures £30 was knocked off. Evening meal was really good especially the Cajun chicken burger and the fish and chips, breakfast was ok, although the cooked breakfast was a little cold and the bacon over cooked, this trip was a surprise for my wife’s 50th birthday so a little disappointed with the missed communication regarding the room charges. All in all a nice pleasent stay and Tetbury is a great base location for exploring the Cotswolds.

We had a lovely afternoon tea here today that was gifted to us. The food was very nice and just the right amount to eat for us. The staff were friendly and overall we had a great time.

Four of us had lunch on Easter Monday and had a thoroughly enjoyable time. The food was outstanding, the service friendly and professional and the restaurant comfortable. The prices were very fair and the portions lavish. We shall return!

Price tag not matched in taste!Went for Sunday Roast whilst visiting friends. The price was what we would expect to pay but the quality and taste were no where close to the price tag.The beef was fatty and tasteless, the roasties dry and the vegetables resembled what you would get from school dinners. Even a cauliflower cheese option would have helped.The only thing that made it look like the price was a limp piece of watercress used as garnish.
