The Snipe in Ashfield

The venue was nice and the staff helpful. I wasn't aware of the accessibility issues and we were placed at the bottom of two flights of stairs, tucked away in a little back room away from everyone else. This choice of seating was impractical because we had a disabled relative with us and we felt we were being hidden away from everyone else. Because of this, the visit was tarnished. However the food was reasonable, staff friendly and venue quite clean. Waiting to be served at the bar took a while and I was sold a short pint as it had a head about one third of the glass.

Food cold sent back twice, and then was ridiculed by the patronising waitress saying that medium rare steak is supposed to be served cold!! Will not return. I prefer hot fresh food . The whole experience was awful. Update much improved. But played it safe and ordered differently this time. Apart from chicken being a bit dry rest ok very good value for money . Rated much higher this time !!

Good food but very cold - no heating on

After arriving to the snipe for a festive meal, which we had pre booked five days earlier, when waited to be seated we was then shown to the three flights of stairs leading to the basement, when asked if they had a upstairs seating because my mother is disabled we was then told no because we hadn’t mentioned this on the booking. So after struggling with getting my mother down three flights or stairs we was then taken to the festive area which was just a long bench which was extremely awkward to get out of and very uncomfortable. One of the members of the family couldn’t attend due to illness and we asked for the food in a doggy bag, we was then told that they had nothing to put it in but then was charged at the end for the food we had not had!! Wouldn't recommend, very unhelpful staff, long waiting for food, not disabled friendly. Would not recommend at all.

We've eaten here a few time and really enjoy it. The food is nice and a good cheap family option. The staff have always been lovely and if you have a blue light card or AA you get 15% off.

This was my second visit to this place and I don't really have anything to complain about. The food was good, the only thing I could complain about was that the place was a bit cold inside. But I will probably go back there with friends.

We weren't sure if we'd get a table as we didn't book but the lad who booked us in was great and found us a table which was free until 4pm so plenty time with a toddler. The food was really nice and the staff were all really nice.

We come here every month for a friends get together. Food always fresh and piping hot. Great friendly service and good prices.

Great as always! Friendly service and lovely food. My only complaint is that the disabled toilet/ baby change was out of order.

Booked for a birthday treat for my family on a Sunday teatime . We were pleased with the choice not just Sunday lunch menu the vegan + children selection were good. Drink prices reasonable !

Come in for drinks regularly and occasionally food, great atmosphere and the bar staff are always friendly.

Popped in here for a pint & a game of pool. Ended up staying for Sunday lunch. At £10 for a pretty much faultless Sunday, dinner and a free drink, you can't go wrong. Mash, roasties, yorkie, stuffing, green beans, carrots and peas. And of course beef and turkey. Only improvement really would be a bit more gravy. And that's only because there was so much on the plate! First time I've been in here but will definitely be back again.

Not been to the snipe in years as it went really downhill but gave it another try ,this is an honest review of our experience,the food was perfectly ok for chain pub food hot and tasted fine ,now the bad ,very unaccommodating my daughter doesn't like peas or onion rings so we asked if they could swap them for a few tomatoes and cucumber but told no we can take peas and onion rings off but you got to pay for a salad we have never been refused this in any establishment ever ,secondly the place is run down and dirty ,sticky carpets , filthy toilets ,the ladies toilet doors would not close my wife had to stand Infront of the door and hold it , normally I would complain to the manager but didn't bother as definitely won't be back ,shame the food was ok ...

I live in Oxfordshire but here working locally and have made this my regular haunt for dinner. Prices are really reasonable, good food, staff super friendly (special mention to Courtney who managed to still get me fed at 1 minute to closing time for the kitchen, when I was dead on my feet!) Gets thumbs up from me!

I dropped in for a spot of lunch with family Thursday 03/10/24 at around 13:30, not to busy just how I prefer. The establishment is quite large with an open plan bar area and separate dining area with pleanty of seating. We ordered our lunch and drinks at the bar (barstaff are nice and friendly.) 15 minutes after ordering our food arrived at the table piping hot, after 5 minutes of receiving our meal a lovely waitress came and did a check-back to make sure everything was OK and it was. We had the Seabass ( very moist and full of flavour with a nice creamy soft mash and green veg.) Cheeseburger (cooked just right in a nice soft bun with just the right amount of fries.) Last but not least the chicken and bacon baguette (a nice crusty baguette overflowing with filling, juicy chicken and smoked bacon.) This is not our first visit and won't be our last. From the friendly, helpful staff to lovely food we had an enjoyable afternoon.

Ordered the gravy burger with dipping sauce. Food arrived absolutely no 'dipping sauce' not even deep enough to deep anything in. Asked the server if I could please have some gravy that is meant to come with the burger. 5 mins later he bought the gravy 2 mins after the a lady came to say did the server tell you, you'll have to pay for the extra gravy ?. I'm sorry but I ordered the GRAVY burger for it to arrive with no gravy a splat was put on the burger and a poor attempt to put some in a pot. Picture of the dipping sauce 😂

Day off treat and what a treat it was. Great food served by lovely friendly staff. The 2 meals 2 puddings were tasty and a bonus taking BLC too,will be returning for sure. Ty Snipe.

Chips tasted like detergent. Plate was dirty .table was dirty when we wiped it with napkin. Awful customer service won't be coming to this establishment again. Also toilets smelt of urine. Disgusting .

Ordered the unlimite big combo, it was not what was advertised as in the picture. It was not even half the size shown in the picture and was not worth the price paid, drinks such as pitchers also came with various amounts in them to a noticeable degree

I was workingvin the area and frequented the Snipe several times. The staff under Alex could not be more friendly or helpful. The place is clean and well maintained. The food great quality and a good price. I will be back again.

Cheap food and expensive drinks, used to be a nice place but completely run down everything is old and in need of TLC. Food all over the carpet and not cleaned up by staff shocking. Also the park is closed off so kids weren't happy as well, will avoid in future.

Very nice bar area and restaurant. Outdoor beer garden is pleasant too. Beer was good. The mixed grill wasn't too bad value for money as it was on Mondays 'Grill' offer.

Went to see my son, who works here. It's one hell of a trip for Sunday Lunch.

Food came very quickly, we had 8oz gammon. It was very tasty and cooked to perfection. The staff were experienced and friendly.

The food isn't great, I was sat waiting for my food after the rest of our group's meals were brought out and there were only 4 of us. They do have gluten free options which is one of the reasons we went.

Came here to meet friends and for dinner, had a mighty mixed grill which I would highly recommended. Our server Ellie was lovely, very polite and attentive. Nothing was too much trouble for her. Great for families with a play area to the rear.

We absolutely love the Snipe, we go very regularly as a family and with our friends and their child. We have a wonderful experience every single time we go. The food is fantastic, but what really stands it apart from elsewhere is the wonderful staff. Especially Steven and Josh, they always have chats with us, always go above and beyond to make sure everything is exactly how we want, and are wonderful with our children. They always have a laugh with us, they really are wonderful. We are probably annoying with our kids being in the way etc but none of the staff have ever shown it, they smile and speak to them with such a lovely manner. I would really highly recommend the Snipe to anyone for a great meal, great service, and such kind, friendly, hardworking staff. Thank you very much.

Rude staff when my item came wrong and questioned it she said that's how it comes and refused to do anything about it yet someone else ordered same as me and there's come correct she was rather rude about it in front of my 2 little girls 1 being disabled and she's refusing to help.

Something came wrong with the food and when I questioned about it being wrong the girl who brought it out refused to do anything about it claiming that's how it comes yet someone else ordered same thing and got there's correct so she was just being plain rude.
