Had the crown of burgers. Needed more chicken, but other than that it was excellent.

Tracey was a fantastic server. She was very professional and made sure our evening was a nice one.

Lovely atmosphere, server Tracey friendly and very approachable- great with our boys.

Decided to go today with our 4 yr old grandaughter to check out the newly refurbished snipe . I have to say I couldn’t eat my food quick enough to get out . The decor is lovely but found the new open plan style was not to our liking . We were put on a table right near the bar area and all we could hear was the far too loud tv and rowdy drinkers watching the football . We normally eat here weekly but this has really put me off as we like to have a chilled out meal and not feel like we are in a club

Staff are lovely but the food was awful. What's the point advertising food on a sizzling skillet but serving cold peppers, onions etc on a cold skillet? Great job on the refurb but kitchen needs work

A bit quiet, but they were just getting ready to close for a refurbishment of the place and it needed it too as it was starting to look a bit shabby. Can't wait to go back and see how much better it looks. Would recommend both food and staff, both great.

Revamped, decor all fresh and bright. Staff seem really happy and food was excellent. We throughly enjoyed the drink and meals.

Me and my partner went to the snipe tonight as it has just been refurbed, it looks amazing the layout is great. We had 50% off tonight as it was family and friends opening night, the food was really tasty and the puddings so yummy, the service was brill making sure we was ok if we needed anything couldnt be more attentive to us really had a lovely time. The atmosphere was great , On opening night everyone will love it im sure just as much as we did, we will be returning for sure.

Most food okay, some dislikes with the chicken dish served with breads, and scampi, as the bread didn't seem very fresh but all the actual food was great, service was brilliant, quick too. Quick to rectify a slightly incorrect order. Bar is adjacent to the seating area, some people can be quite brash if you're eating as a family, but when there is a divide, it's quite settling.

Just terrible in every way. Horrible food and no service at all. Never again.

Not sure where I’m going to eat now, sad to see them close, but looking forward to the re opening

It was a lovely environment but the portions and value for money was poor.

Unbelievable meal, really quick and so fresh, had the chicken sandwich and it was the nicest chicken sandwich I’ve ever had, just want another one! Came here a few years ago and the food was ok but there has been huge improvements! Really lovely staff, lovely atmosphere, quick service and gorgeous food!

I get there closing soon but that was the worst experience out with family ever!! Ask for choc milkshake a get basically a coffee with cream on top????!!! Had turkey which was straight out of a sandwich packet!!!! Could not be more processed if they tried !! Mash was powdered mash a looked like it had been there all day ! Wanted nothing more than to just get my family out of there!!! Would be fine for drink with lads etc but food wise never!!!!!!! Will never be returning to a hungry horse again or the snipe

We came for a meal for our daughter's 17th birthday. We walked in and were greeted and seated within minutes. The service we received from Tracey, Courtney and Ellie was fantastic and they kept the whole place running smoothly. The food was fabulous and tasty and the one problem we had was resolved very quickly and efficiently. Please praise and thank these 3 lovely ladies.We will definitely be back. Thank You 😊

We never took our coats off it was absolutely freezing inside maybe gloves n hat too can't believe how cold it was.Couldnt wait to get home for a warm

Ordered the gravy burger with dipping sauce. Food arrived absolutely no 'dipping sauce' not even deep enough to dip anything in. Asked the server if I could please have some gravy that is meant to come with the burger. 5 mins later he bought the gravy 2 mins after a lady came to say, "Did the server tell you, you'll have to pay for the extra gravy ?. I'm sorry but I ordered the GRAVY burger for it to arrive with no gravy. A splat was put on the burger and a poor attempt to put some in a pot. Picture of the dipping sauce 😂

Met up with family members from Oxfordshire at our favourite local pub, the Snipe, on New Years Day. Meals came very quickly and we had a good prebooked table with plenty of room..Always happy with attitude of staff, & value for money food from extensive menu to cater for most tastes.

It was great as usual the food and service was great 👍 even though they were short staffed it’s always a pleasure to eat there.

Visited one Sunday lunch and thoroughly enjoyed it. The staff were very friendly and responded excellently when we asked them to bring drinks and our pre ordered food. The food itself was very good value and really tasty. We had the roast dinner and chicken New Yorker both of which were really nice. For a pleasant, relaxing family meal at a good price then I’d recommend this place.

A bland but tolerably pleasant venue with well-kept, affordable cask beer. Unfortunately, my dining experience was disappointing. After being shown to a seat in the dining room, I was ignored by the three somewhat disorganised waiting staff for 20 minutes. They seemed to have entirely forgotten that I was there. I decided to leave and dine elsewhere, as I had little confidence the service would improve or the food would arrive promptly.

I visited The Snipe with my son when he came to visit me with his girlfriend. I pre-booked a table to make sure we could eat there. The meal was excellent, as it always is, and the staff are so nice and helpful and caring. I am a regular visitor though with a friend and we always enjoy our meals and the happy atmosphere. The food, and the staff, never let us down. A very well run pub and restaurant. A pleasure to visit.

The venue was nice and the staff helpful. I wasn't aware of the accessibility issues and we were placed at the bottom of two flights of stairs, tucked away in a little back room away from everyone else. This choice of seating was impractical because we had a disabled relative with us and we felt we were being hidden away from everyone else. Because of this, the visit was tarnished. However the food was reasonable, staff friendly and venue clean. Waiting to be served at the bar took a while and I was sold a short pint as it had a head about one third of the glass.

Food cold sent back twice, and then was ridiculed by the patronising waitress saying that medium rare steak is supposed to be served cold!! Will not return. I prefer hot fresh food . The whole experience was awful. Update much improved. But played it safe and ordered differently this time. Apart from chicken being a bit dry rest ok very good value for money . Rated much higher this time !!

After arriving to the snipe for a festive meal, which we had pre booked five days earlier, when waited to be seated we was then shown to the three flights of stairs leading to the basement, when asked if they had a upstairs seating because my mother is disabled we was then told no because we hadn’t mentioned this on the booking. So after struggling with getting my mother down three flights or stairs we was then taken to the festive area which was just a long bench which was extremely awkward to get out of and very uncomfortable. One of the members of the family couldn’t attend due to illness and we asked for the food in a doggy bag, we was then told that they had nothing to put it in but then was charged at the end for the food we had not had!! Wouldn't recommend, very unhelpful staff, long waiting for food, not disabled friendly. Would not recommend at all.

We've eaten here a few time and really enjoy it. The food is nice and a good cheap family option. The staff have always been lovely and if you have a blue light card or AA you get 15% off.

This was my second visit to this place and I don't really have anything to complain about. The food was good, the only thing I could complain about was that the place was a bit cold inside. But I will probably go back there with friends.

We weren't sure if we'd get a table as we didn't book but the lad who booked us in was great and found us a table which was free until 4pm so plenty time with a toddler. The food was really nice and the staff were all really nice.

We come here every month for a friends get together. Food always fresh and piping hot. Great friendly service and good prices.

Popped in here for a pint & a game of pool. Ended up staying for Sunday lunch. At £10 for a pretty much faultless Sunday, dinner and a free drink, you can't go wrong. Mash, roasties, yorkie, stuffing, green beans, carrots and peas. And of course beef and turkey. Only improvement really would be a bit more gravy. And that's only because there was so much on the plate! First time I've been in here but will definitely be back again.

Not been to the snipe in years as it went really downhill but gave it another try ,this is an honest review of our experience,the food was perfectly ok for chain pub food hot and tasted fine ,now the bad ,very unaccommodating my daughter doesn't like peas or onion rings so we asked if they could swap them for a few tomatoes and cucumber but told no we can take peas and onion rings off but you got to pay for a salad we have never been refused this in any establishment ever ,secondly the place is run down and dirty ,sticky carpets , filthy toilets ,the ladies toilet doors would not close my wife had to stand Infront of the door and hold it , normally I would complain to the manager but didn't bother as definitely won't be back ,shame the food was ok ...

I live in Oxfordshire but here working locally and have made this my regular haunt for dinner. Prices are really reasonable, good food, staff super friendly (special mention to Courtney who managed to still get me fed at 1 minute to closing time for the kitchen, when I was dead on my feet!) Gets thumbs up from me!

I dropped in for a spot of lunch with family Thursday 03/10/24 at around 13:30, not to busy just how I prefer. The establishment is quite large with an open plan bar area and separate dining area with pleanty of seating. We ordered our lunch and drinks at the bar (barstaff are nice and friendly.) 15 minutes after ordering our food arrived at the table piping hot, after 5 minutes of receiving our meal a lovely waitress came and did a check-back to make sure everything was OK and it was. We had the Seabass ( very moist and full of flavour with a nice creamy soft mash and green veg.) Cheeseburger (cooked just right in a nice soft bun with just the right amount of fries.) Last but not least the chicken and bacon baguette (a nice crusty baguette overflowing with filling, juicy chicken and smoked bacon.) This is not our first visit and won't be our last. From the friendly, helpful staff to lovely food we had an enjoyable afternoon.
