The Snipe in Ashfield

Booked for a birthday treat for my family on a Sunday teatime . We were pleased with the choice not just Sunday lunch menu the vegan + children selection were good. Drink prices reasonable !

Been coming here for years and never had a bad experience. The food is great, the staff are friendly and a very relaxed environment.

I dropped in for a spot of lunch with family Thursday 03/10/24 at around 13:30, not to busy just how I prefer. The establishment is quite large with an open plan bar area and separate dining area with pleanty of seating. We ordered our lunch and drinks at the bar (barstaff are nice and friendly.) 15 minutes after ordering our food arrived at the table piping hot, after 5 minutes of receiving our meal a lovely waitress came and did a check-back to make sure everything was OK and it was. We had the Seabass ( very moist and full of flavour with a nice creamy soft mash and green veg.) Cheeseburger (cooked just right in a nice soft bun with just the right amount of fries.) Last but not least the chicken and bacon baguette (a nice crusty baguette overflowing with filling, juicy chicken and smoked bacon.) This is not our first visit and won't be our last. From the friendly, helpful staff to lovely food we had an enjoyable afternoon.

its been a while since i have been to snipe will never go again very poor food was luke warm also the coffee was cold will never go again

Really nice pub situated just off the a38 nice food with incredibly friendly staff, I would highly recommend the Salmon from the Mix it Up.

Very nice bar area and restaurant. Outdoor beer garden is pleasant too. Beer was good. The mixed grill wasn't too bad value for money as it was on Mondays 'Grill' offer.

Really big thank you for today. We had our wake there and the support from every one has made a difficult experience a little bit easier. Big thanks to Alex for advising on the amount of food required. The food was superb and we received many compliments on this. Big thank you again to all of the team.

Came here to meet friends and for dinner, had a mighty mixed grill which I would highly recommended. Our server Ellie was lovely, very polite and attentive. Nothing was too much trouble for her. Great for families with a play area to the rear.

We absolutely love the Snipe, we go very regularly as a family and with our friends and their child. We have a wonderful experience every single time we go. The food is fantastic, but what really stands it apart from elsewhere is the wonderful staff. Especially Steven and Josh, they always have chats with us, always go above and beyond to make sure everything is exactly how we want, and are wonderful with our children. They always have a laugh with us, they really are wonderful. We are probably annoying with our kids being in the way etc but none of the staff have ever shown it, they smile and speak to them with such a lovely manner. I would really highly recommend the Snipe to anyone for a great meal, great service, and such kind, friendly, hardworking staff. Thank you very much.

Classic pub food, cheap and quick service

Rude staff when my item came wrong and questioned it she said that's how it comes and refused to do anything about it yet someone else ordered same as me and there's come correct she was rather rude about it in front of my 2 little girls 1 being disabled and she's refusing to help.

Something came wrong with the food and when I questioned about it being wrong the girl who brought it out refused to do anything about it claiming that's how it comes yet someone else ordered same thing and got there's correct so she was just being plain rude.

Popped in for a drink with colleagues after a meeting. Nice, large, selection of flavoured ciders. Not much on tap for ale.

Excellent choice of food, freshly cooked and good sized portions. Friendly and helpful staff.

Really good never have any issues when I visit

Big family meal with 6 adults, 2 young children and a baby. We all found meals that we liked, kitchen ran out of some elements of the dessert people wanted but we were offered extra of other components once we complained. Nice little play area for the kids out the back but it could do with some safety netting around parts of it as our 4 year old could easily have fallen if she wasn't so cautious.

We got seated an within minutes a waitress by the name of Tracy was at our table giving us phenomenal Service everything was on Point. I'm new to the area an will be coming again. The waitress at this establishment the Snip (tracy) should be promoted

Great pub, great menu and great prices. We had the chicken New Yorker and lasagne from the set Menu two for £11.49. Courtney at the bar served me who was very friendly!

We went to The Snipe on a Wednesday after school with 3 boys 8 years old and under. Our local Greene King and partners pub/restaurant is the Badger Box, about 15 minutes from the Snipe in Annesley but their menu has changed for the worse and the customer service not great. The Snipe is one of the partner restaurants though and the menu is really good at the moment. We ordered 2 Ultimate sharer plates between 5 of us. Once it came, unfortunately it was the wrong sharer, but the server, without hesitation took them away to change. A lady server, who seemed like the manager, bought the sharer for us and gave us a side of fries that we were going to order separate. The customer service was really good, good enough that I felt it needed a positive review. Sharer itself was just as you want for kids to snack on. Thanks to the staff for going out of their way to make it a pleasant visit.

Drinks are very affordable here and so I never mind popping in for a tipple.

I visited here on 18/6/24 with my sister for a meal. One meal when arrived at the table was wrong to what I thought I ordered. I explained it wasn't what I was expecting and the waitress (Tracy) apoligized and took it back and came back shortly after with the right meal. Throughout our time there Tracy came to our table to ask if all was ok and if we needed anything else. When we had finished we had left some and Tracy went to get us something to take it away in. We shared a desert and was told by Tracy that she gave us extra custard as she knew we were sharing. Even though we had a small complaint she remained very polite and attentive. We both think he is a asset to the team. The food was spot on served quickly hot and to a good standard very satisfied all and all with our visit 😁😁

We've been here quite a few times but this last time really wasn't good. Noone cleaned any tables, the food took ages to come out and the atmosphere wasn't good at all. I'm not sure what's happened but I doubt we'll return.

Have been here several times in the past as a meet up with family members as it's a half way point for food and a general catch up. This time somewhat disappointed with the quality of the food, I understand overheads go up but rather let down by the quality of the Sunday lunch.

Excellent food and service only downside was no beer just lager and cider but it didn't spoil the experience

The pub itself is lovely, not that impressed with the Sunday roasts, paid £2 extra per adult meal, didn't come with any extra meat as advertised and had to ask for it which they apologised for and brought it out, mash was dry, veg was all pretty hard, stuffing was also hard and dry, presume its all microwaved, left a lot of it

Called in at last minute and had a lovely meal the prices are great and the food was really nice,ideal foe families has there are loads of deals to be had. Well worth a visit

I'll keep coming back as it's nice food and close by. But prices going up, portions getting smaller. Only reason for the food rating 3 stars, you don't actually get much for your money, Im aware it's the case everywhere but nowhere really stands out portion-wise. Included a pic of the southern fried chicken burger meal on the adult menu, and a double cheeseburger from the kids menu. Red plate is much more expensive and is the adult menu.

Great service a good balance of menu choices...comfortable seats...big portions...family deals...wonderful pudding & ice creams....nice coffee or teas....quick bar service...well mansged

Service was fantastic however the menu is very limited when it comes to healthier options - the healthiest thing we could find was sea bass but even that came smothered in sauce, the peas were nice but the green beans were very over cooked and rubbery. Nice quiet atmosphere but it was a weekday

Much improved from previous years, the staff are fantastic, and the food is very good, and fairly priced.

Food was expensive for the amount you got and the fries were underdone and chicken over done and dry. Had the chicken new yorker. Was OK for a pint and clean place but wouldn't eat there again

Great range of beer.Nic is absolutely lovely and basically runs the the place, love the deal on bottles being £7 for two.

We came on the off chance and travelled 25mins and was our first visit. Great friendly atmosphere, relaxing atmosphere with a large area to choose from for seating. Great activities for children and the outside play area... Would definitely recommend! It does exactly what it says on the tin with speedy/friendly service. Thanks

Visiting from Australia, used to come here all the time so a trip down memory lane, wasn't disappointed. Great sized servings, very affordable, really nice food. Good choice of beers. Staff are lovely, very friendly. Nice and clean. Plenty of shady car parks for a sunny day, parking spots are a good size, plenty of room. Great experience thanks!

Went for a late birthday family meal and the service was great as always, thank you to Julie and Tracey. The food was served to us very quickly and it was lovely, especially the katsu banquet that I barely managed to finish! Finally had to try the new frappes, I had the double chocolate one made by Court and it was perfect for the hot weather. Definitely recommend trying them out. Thank you to all the staff, a great dining experience as usual from the Snipe :)

Excellent value and brilliant service. Quite a large place with seemingly plenty of parking and outdoor space. The food was great and I should give it 5 stars as it was really nice and very reasonable. The service was prompt and courteous. We will definitely be going again.

This is one of the best hungry horses in the area The staff are long standing and the service is second to none. You won't be disappointed

Oh dear this place needs a total refurbish, food (lasagne) was sloppy and bland, salad was inedible.

Food was nice but we chose here because of the feed a family for £15 ended up costing pennies short of £70, the offer was never mentioned or advertised on our table, certainly not worth shy of £70 kids had tacos which were actually wraps :( only scored 2 because the hubbys food was a good size
