Ego at The Old Ashfield, Sutton-in-Ashfield in Ashfield

Another great night out, love this place. No matter when I go, the steak is always top quality and cooked to perfection. Yes, it's a little pricey, but you get what you pay for. I've been lots of times as it's almost my local, but I've never been disappointed. This time we had the pleasure of Jessie serving us, very pleasant and nothing was too much trouble.

This was our first visit and it didn't disappoint. The food was delicious and the staff were very polite and friendly especially Chloe who was our waitress.

First time here, sat outside for drinks before and after dinner. Lovely food and great service ,the mixed kebabs are amazing. Overall very impressed and will definitely return. Wish we had tried you sooner.

Great food, great service, especially by front of house Paige. We had 3 courses each and all of them were delicious 😋. The only downside was: we were eating outside, at the front of the restaurant and a very dirty and smelly man, looking like a homeless person squeezed himself between the tables and sat at the nearest to us table. He placed his dirty warm jacket on the table and lit a cigarette. Mind you, it was a very warm day (+27C), of course he needed to carry a warm jacket with him, just in case. We are not smokers and we did not see any signs for smoking diners anywhere outside. At that time our dessert arrived, so I expressed to the waiter our wish to move to another table in unsmoking area. She carried our desserts to a completely different area and made us comfortable there. Thanks God, it was Monday and it was an empty table outside. When we were driving away the man was still comfortably sitting at the same table. My question is: should we be moving or the restaurant should have clear signs for smoking eaters and the staff should ask that dirty, smelly, smoking man to move there?

Ego used to be the best place locally for cocktails. However they are now very disappointing, especially the pina colada which is nothing like it used to be. It is no longer a creamy pina colada (apparently so that its suitable for vegans)!!! Sorry but thats what a pina colada should be. Surely if someone is vegan then do a vegan option or they could order something else. Spirits were still used but very disappointed to see premixed mixer being used in the cocktails......not what you'd expect in somewhere like Ego. Such a shame that this place has slipped in offering premium drinks.

Fantastic service and great atmosphere our server was Megan who was polite, friendly, and a good laugh whilst still being very professional. Would definitely come again x

Very pleasant staff good food plenty parking easy to find it using Google maps I don't remember much about the cost as it was a party with many people so they bought rounds so cost wise I don't remember but worth a visit possible

Ego goes by its name, seems like they have a stick up their butt with the menu, while the food was good, the menu appears to be written a pompous pancake. To be clear so I'm not misunderstood, it's the lack of options and silly names that annoy me. However, staff were nice and the place is lovely inside, everything I rate highly other than the menu. Just give some more options and stop naming them silly things. Your in Sutton, not maldeves.

Amazing cocktails from Heidi and Charlize, also really friendly behind the bar. Meg and Gemma really great service always happy to help. Alex and paige lovely greeting when seating us. Amazing experience would definitely come again

Sat in the bar for drinks today and the service from Chloe was second to none. Being regulars were always well looked after but Chloe really goes the extra mile and provides the entertainment factor too!

Went as part of a large party and the food was incredible with everything coming out in great time! Our server Chloe was lovely and really looked after us x

I visited the Ego today with my sister and we had a fabulous meal and pina coladas galore , everything was beautiful, we were looked aftet brilliantly from the moment we entered, we had no booking and were taken to a table with no delay or issue, Liam looked after our table for the afternoon. Thankyou all for a lovely Easter Bank Holiday treat.

Second time dining at Ego now and I have to say it's a beautiful place. To dine with friends and the parents. The food is very good quality and has always been delicious. The first time I'll be honest, there was a long wait for food and drinks. But clearly it wasn't bad enough to put us off. The staff are really approachable and friendly. Shout out to Jessi for her service. We have never had trouble parking. The toilets are clean. I think this venue is very reasonably priced for the delicious food you get. My parents can EAT and the Trio Roast fills them. We will absolutely be back for a third reservation.

Great food, really kind and attentive staff. Great for families with my 6yr old and 8mnth old.

Our server Chloe was brilliant , went above & beyond. She's like one of the family can read a customer to a tee. Made our parties experience fabulous, full of fun. Nothing was too much for her. She's well up on cocktails.

Was served by chloe threw out my meal servvice nothing was to much trouble she went above and beyond to help with our service more enjoyable. Always served with a smile. Will definitely be returning. Chloe has the best customer service I've experienced when I've been out for meal 🙂

Came to celebrate my birthday, food and service were amazing. James was great and very attentive.

Had a lovely meal for my son's birthday. The food was amazing as was the service. I would recommend the duo of pork which was delicious. James looked after us for the evening and was very professional and polite and kept checking back to see if all was okay. All in all we had a great evening and left very content with our bellies full.

Came in with a thew friends to have some quiet drinks, I was served by Alex. Was very friendly & talkative while being professional. Will deffo be coming again!

The food should have been better considering the price point that they are charging, however the manager was more than generous with her apology. We would go back again.

I received a birthday voucher being an Ego member (so easy to join) so had a meal with my wife which more or less worked out two for one. We had a fantastic 3 course meal and received excellent service from the lovely Evie.

Great lunch and Chloe made me feel extra special as it was a birthday lunch. Thank you very much Chloe!

Food was good but a bit overpriced but what sort of pub/restaurant takes the decision to stop serving draft beers? Only Guinness and lager on tap and no real choice of beer in bottles either.

Service and hospitality from Megan was great. Food was good, great vibes. Really appreciate the team accommodating our table of 16 at short notice.

Loved the food however didn’t have the paella or the passion fruit for the cocktail we wanted! Overall lovely service and atmosphere.

10 out of 10, lovely experience from start to finish, warm welcome at the door, our waitress was Chloe and she was wonderful, so pleasant and really good at her job. To be fair all the staff at Ego are wonderful, so thank you for a lovely experience.

First time ive been back into the Old Ashfield for many years and it has had quiet the make over, soon as we walked in we was greeted by a friendly young lady named Mia, she showed us to our table took our orders made sure we was well looked after so thank you for your sevice Mia, the food was excellent and we didnt feel rushed while there, highly recommend this to friends and family and will be back in there again soon.

First time at the Ego the food was lovely however the cost for some foods was ridiculous example I asked for another bread roll charged me £4.95 !! My husband had the ice cream not even full scoops charged us £7.25 !! Halloumi fries for 5 pieces £5.50 and the service charge at the end. This is a restaurant in Sutton in ashfield it’s a shame because the pizza and the mains were outstanding I feel it was overpriced I mean come on £7.25 for 3 blobs of ice cream can’t believe you served it to us.

Came in for cocktails and was served at the bar by Alex. Alex was very talkative whilst remaining professional, a real credit to ego! The cocktails tasted amazing, Will definitely be back to try some of the menu choices :)

Our waitress Chloe was excellent. The food and value for money was very good but they did not have my first choice of risotto with cod. The carbonara was very tasty and it was an ample portion.

I loved this place! I went here for my Great Grandmother’s golden anniversary and Ive got to say, AMAZING SERVICE. They had colouring for children, three course meal and great selection of beverages! The staff were also so kind and the toilets were honestly the cleanest bathrooms I've seen. 5 stars, absolutely recommend going here

Top knotch. Food was fabulous. Gambos pil pil was not sizzling so you loose a star. Tasted good though. Staff are lovely. Very attentive. Bill was not extortionate either. Will definitely return if I'm in Ashfield any time.
