The Smugglers Tavern in Camden

Until recently I would have given this five stars but the lack of real ale choice is a catastrophe. There is usually 2 real ales at least but when I was in both were off and I didn’t sense any rush - it’s a pub right?- in the end I had to abandon an otherwise much loved pub. They really have to think what they’re trying to achieve. If they don’t sort this quickly there will be no going back!

Nice pub and very friendly staff. Karaoke is available and so much fun! Pizza was very good!

Had a leaving do for a colleague at the Smugglers Tavern tonight. The staff were so lovely, helpful and accommodating. Great food, funny karaoke and a friendly and warm atmosphere. Will definitely be back - would highly recommend!

Super place, found accidentally. Had a few drinks and shared a pizza which was delicious. Staff were really good. Definitely would go back.

I've just had the worse folded pizza ever. It wasn't cooked inside and the bottom was burnt.

Enjoyed our time here, proper little British pub with good train links as its right next to Warren Street, it wasn't too busy and we had a laugh with the karaoke. The food was good, very nice pizza. Prices for drinka were expensive, but they always are in locations like this.

This place is awesome. It's small, but that's what makes it so amazing. The staff, service, food and drinks are all perfect. Could not ask for anything more.

This pub was the biggest car dealer dealing establishment in the the 60s 70s and 80s millions of pounds changed hands, dealers like Jack Barclays, Camden cars, Newcastle car centre, Rolls Royce, Bentley, Mercedes, Ferrari, and many more of these type were bought and sold in this excellent establishment, these dealers were Gentleman a hand shake done the trick your word was your bond, not like now when the flyby nights are about, this pub holds many great memories for me, and the tails it could tell would make fantastic reading. Good selection of beers. But the prices are too high.

I must admit I go here only for the rum, but do check the prices before you order because sometimes they are rather expensive.

I can't speak for the pizza but the beers here are consistently good, with a fun selection of crafty numbers on tap.

Place with a fantastic atmosphere, you can eat and drink a wide variety of beer. The girl who helped us was great and very friendly.

Not sure why it’s card only, price of a bottle of non alcoholic cider(£5.50) is same as the alcoholic cider.

Good range of beers including Steady Rolling Man which is a firm favourite and imo always indicates a good pub! Cosy with nautical vibes and friendly staff.

Lovely independent pub, definitely worth visiting and spending some time

I am loving the old school pub decor with a distinct naval touch. There's a good selection of ales on tap. Best of all the pub is doggy friendly with water and treatums being offered to furends.

Taberna clásica inglesa, no muy grande donde puedes tomar unas pintas y comer a precio razonable dentro de un barrio acomodado. Muy recomendable. Hay un piso arriba con más mesas pero el ambiente está abajo y en la calle.

We had our work Xmas party in the function room and it was brilliant due to the wonderful staff at Smugglers Tavern - they were so welcoming, accommodating, attentive and fun and we all had a great night!!! Big shout out to Jo, Jasmine and Ross in particular who looked after us all so well from start to finish!! Thank you all ❤️

Quite a limited amount of craft beers in comparison to what they state on their website. Nice service though.

Great dog friendly pub with reasonably priced pizza and friendly staff. Loved that there were clearly marked veggie and vegan options.

Excellent Margherita pizza, lovely selection of beers on tap

VERY popular pub in the area, with kitchen residencies from independent traders. Currently hosting "Daccapo pizzeria", presenting a Roman-inspired menu. Pizza was ok but not outstanding; "ricotta cream bomb" is actually tiny and dough was a bit hard. Fair value if you have lunch (2-course plus drink for £12.95). Please add a tip when you pay by card, to support the great staff. Booking is essential if you want to stay indoors in the evening, the venue is packed by 6pm on Thursdays.

New cool celebrity hang out everyone is going on about on the internet. Think I saw Cara Delevigne in there but I can’t be sure as I don’t know what she looks like or how to spell it. Great pub, lovely atmosphere, she might have been with Rita Ora but not sure I’d recognise her.

Nice pub with a good range of craft beers. Busy enough to have atmosphere but as it’s a little way from the main tourist areas was quiet enough that there was seating and no waiting to be served. Outside seating is great when the weather is okay. We enjoyed the pizza options from the 081 Pizza pop-up - some items weren’t available but that’s inevitable for a small pub kitchen. Table service, as well as service at the bar, was exemplary - friendly and efficient.

We came here as a family mid week for a dinner before seeing a show. The service was really good and the food was nice too. I felt like the pizza could have had a little more flavour but that is personal choice. It could have also been hotter. It would recommend & I would go back.

Well, for one, the music was way too loud…secondly, the staff did not wipe the tables if they even bothered to clean up after the guests. There were not many guests, but the two employees, 2 young girls, seemed totally indifferent to their work.

Popped in on a Friday night while staying nearby. Very, very good Neapolitan pizza made with quality ingredients, a warm welcome at the bar, and the endearing local karaoke night in full swing! What a place, full of character.

Awesome pub, good crowd and lots to drink

The pizza and the beer were amazing and we didn’t had to wait much. It can be very busy in the late afternoon but the staff is nice and always tries their best to serve quickly.

Rose, Joanna, Dylan and Halle are wonderful staff who I enjoy spending time with regularly. Always friendly, great vibe and great drinks. Decided to make this place my local due to the wonder service. Pizza is also very delicious!

In hot weather this is great place to go since it has air-conditioning. The pizzas are large and enjoyable. The beer was lovely and well chilled. This is outside space at the front.

Decent pub with good drinks - however, be prepared to receive either the deep fried 081 as written on the menu or a margherita for the same price. Staff will insist these are different options, but as per below menu you are supposed to guess it as it is not written clearly - so 2 people can make the same order and have different pizzas. Would be better if taff did not treat you as if you were dumb when you tell them their menu far from clear.

"The Smugglers" was a regular haunt when i worked in London over 30 yrs ago. Was in the area for 3 days on business so decided to revisit some old memories. Great pint of IPA and a really warm feeling of this being a local for most of the customers. Conversation, good beer and thankfully no tv screens. Friendly staff for with time to chat and talk about the range of beers & rums- cheers !

What a great pub! Really lovely bar staff, great wine, lively - but space at tables to eat, it's perfect!

The score given is only 1 stars due to not being a welcoming pub. It is nice having a karaoke night but the music is so loud which does not allow you to speak with your mates. Therefore, a less loud volume would be great. But the main negative part was the annoyed attitude from one staff member: a young girl working behind the bar, blond hair and an accent which might be from an Eastern EU country. Looking like she had a bad shift and responding like there was an argument between us. I had to tell her that I was not arguing (I did not know my table number and her and another staff member wanted me to go and get it). I suffer from an invisible disability and I showed my disable card since I have problems with my legs. She looked annoyed. Before getting sick, I used to work in hospitality for yrs and her facial expression and attitude were the reaction of someone who should not face the public. Very unwelcoming. I will never come back.

Great pub in a quiet street. Unlike many pubs in the area it tends to be quite lively even in the evenings and weekends.

It's a good place but be really careful about your bags, two of my friends lost their bags along with their laptops at different occasions. I am not sure if that's to be expected considering the name of the place though.

Very cosy with seating upstairs. Friendly staff too. Gets busy with after-work crowd but everyone is nice. Gluten free beer on tap as well!

Went there for bottomless brunch, they do bottomless pizza from 081 (DELICIOUS) and bottomless prosecco. Not all pizzas are included though so we ended up just ordering the pizzas we wanted. Staff is super friendly, we got wine instead and they have a good selection and the pizzas were DELICIOUS! We also wanted to try the crocchè because my friend had never tried them and they were delicious too. Also a generous portion as you normally get one crocchè only, we got like 6 smaller ones, which is basically the equivalent of 2 big ones for the price of one. Also perfect for sharing! I recommend this place for both food (081 pizzas) and staff as they literally were all super nice to us!

Fab u lous staff, super chilled, friendly and efficient creating a lovely vibe. 081 pizza has landed - with light and flavoursome pumpkin bases, pistachio bases and more. Fresh ingredients shine through on the mouthwatering toppings. And if you like rum - what a selection. Male sure you're passing this place and stop in for an afternoon or evening of joy.

THE pub to be in central north London. My favourite pub so far in London. Great rum and tap selection. Food is top tier as well. Kinda out the way but I don't mind that.

The outdoor seating can be quite the sun trap in the afternoon hours and indoors it’s a spacious area, with options for couples as well as larger groups. The range of drinks is good with plenty of spirits as well as draught options. They also have a cocktail menu with each of the drinks served with beautiful presentation and impressive flavours. It can be quite tight getting to the toilets downstairs but they’re alright and for the quality of the setting, drinks and location the prices are sensible. It’s one of my new favourites in the area!

Nice looking pub but £6.50 for a pint of cask bitter is excessive. Staff seem indifferent, couldn't even be bothered to stick around for card payment.

Real tidy proper lovely boozer of a pub. Josh’s Jamaican heritage gave us perfect jerk in many aromas and forms. The jerk burger with flame grilled chicken zappy crisp red cabbage slaw was spot on. Plantain fries sweet n crunchy as they should be. Oxcheek taster destined for dirty fries was deelicious, rich soft unctious. Ask for a frighteningly, perfectly, ferociously hot and deeply aromatic pickled scotch bonnet. A hat trick of flavours from Bao to chicken to cheek! Washed down with neck oil and duppy’s share rum!

Craft beer and lovely outdoor seating in the sun

A group of friends and I recently visited as part of my sister's Hen Do celebrations. They kindly accommodated our group booking in part of their function room and the booking process was smooth. Although, this was completed via email as they did not respond to any phone calls or voicemails. The function room was a good size, nicely decorated and it felt like it had a calm atmosphere despite the music which was slightly too loud. The drinks were nice although we were surprised that they did not have many options that you might expect in a pub. It was mostly gin which we were not expecting. The service at the bar was very friendly and helpful though, which was appreciated. The food seemed good though there were less evening food options than we had realised, which did not accommodate to most of the group's tastes. It was a good find in London, especially with the function room. Although I expect that it is dependent on the purpose of your visit.

We were passing through and had to stay in London for one night. We therefore looked for a pub near our hotel for a few drinks and something to eat. The Smugglers Tavern is a very cosy and authentic pub and also offers outdoor seating. The pub offers many local beers, ales and ciders as well as other drinks. We enjoyed some delicious sweet potato fries. The staff was very friendly and helpful. We will definitely visit Smugglers Tavern again.
