Small basement bar on an alley off the main drag. Good pints of Jarl from Fyne Ales and a good decently priced pizza was had by both of us. Staff were very friendly and helpful. If you’re heading out on a pub crawl in Ayr I’d make this the starter because those steps down from the road would be a tad dangerous after a few pints

Decided last minute to go in the other night after this place was highly recommended. Erin sat us down, took our food and drink order. Can I just say, I work around the world on cruise ships and I have been to hundreds of restaurants and bars. Erin provided excellent customer service. She puts alot of other places to shame. Anyone coming into the industry could learn alot from Erin. She was extremely welcoming and gave recommendations for food and drinks and everything was amazing, top class. I will highly recommend the smoking goat. Your team could teach around the world, seriously, this service is second to none. Thank you so so much to you all.

Visited here with friends for a theme night. Absolutely amazing service. Food was outstanding. I had the Cajun chicken pasta which I can say has to be the best Cajun chicken pasta I have tasted. Credit to the chefs and the owner David. Well done. I will definitely be back with more friends. More than happy with every aspect of the place.

Had an amazing meal, the nachos were so tasty, burgers to die for. I had the Burns Burger, crispy chicken with haggis and pepper sauce, hubby had the chilli cheese burger. Massive portions. Staff very friendly and attentive.

Love the atmosphere in the Goat-friendly and efficient service;a very varied menu and the cocktails…. Wow! Have enjoyed each visit and hope to see you again soon.

Visited with partner for early dinner, also took our wee dog along. The place was packed and very noisy. I ordered a waffle with goats cheese and my partner had a hot dog. My waffle was soggy and the chips where tiny French fries that tasted like they'd been fried in old oil. Partner said his hot dog was bang average. Most disturbingly on the bar was a cocktail wheel of fortune, on which one of the sections was called wife beater. On leaving we said to a couple of the male staff how inappropriate this was and it seemed as though they thought we were joking. Then they went on to say that it was the nick name for the beer Stella? The whole experience was awful. In addition its not really accessible for anyone with mobility issues

Went to a birthday party last night at the Smoking Goat. What can I say other than an amazing venue, wonderful staff, cocktails were perfect, great food and the best live music I’ve heard. Nick Morgan was epic and had us dancing all night long. Having traveled over 1,000 miles via a bus, a plane, 3 trains and a taxi, it was so worth the trip. Final word… Whoever had the idea to put bacon and black pudding on a pizza deserves a knighthood.

1st time in this place, in for my friends birthday must admit very quick service free shot for my friends birthday, for starters I had bbq chicken wings then a meat feast pizza with some loaded pulled pork fries, 10/10 outstanding the waitresses are so friendly and served extremely quick, next time I'm in ayr I'll most definitely return here again! Popped into The Smoking Goat for an unplanned visit and hadn’t booked but managed to get a table. I can’t really say how much I love this place, such a nice cosy setting, great atmosphere, good drink selection and friendly and attentive staff. Food is first class and their white wine comes out lovely and chilled (so irritating when you get bottles that aren’t) and is accompanied by a glass that’s also been chilled (great touch). Got really busy as we were getting ready to leave and every table round us was reserved, so glad to see they are getting plenty of business, particularly in these financial times… no idea why people moan or complain they have limited time at a table before being asked to move to the bar or elsewhere - it is a business after all. So, thanks for a lovely afternoon, and please don’t change anything - your place is fab!
