The Sloop Inn in North Lincolnshire

My partner and I came from Cyprus to visit my daughter and her family. She mentioned that the food is supposed to be really good at The Sloop Inn. We all paid a visit on Wednesday evening. I ordered the Steak and Ale pie and I cant stop telling people how good it was! I have to say the best Steak and Ale pie I have tasted. Packed full of meat, no fat (I'm fussy) with rich, thick gravy. On the whole we all enjoyed the food and would definitely recommend The Sloop Inn!

Great pub, not too far out of the town of Barton. Near some great walks and the perfect place to pop in before and or after your walk. Great selection of cask ales and keg beers. Although I did not eat here this visit I have eaten here before and the food is delicious. Will definitely be going back to enjoy both soon.

10 out of 10 for everything. Lovely way to spend Mother's Day with 4 generations of family from 17 weeks old to 90! Food was perfect.

Excellent service, excellent food. Great ambiance. Definitely recommend for a wonderful Sunday lunch. Superb braised beef, tender gammon, exceptionally tasty veg accompaniments. Oh and rather large puddings. 5 stars.

Walked past a few times and didn't go in. I really should have. What a warm welcome we were given. The staff were very helpful and professional. First impressions were good. So well layed out, well decorated, and very busy. Luckily we had booked. There was a good selection of ales which is an absolute bonus. I had liver and bacon and my dining companion had the haddock and chips. Hopefully this isn't being too rude to the chef but the food was well cooked, reasonably priced, pub grub. Nothing pretentious just good honest food. Result - two empty plates. Thank you, we will return.

Called in with a group of friends for an after walk pint. Very welcoming and the beer was superb, and a good price. I’ve eaten there a couple of times in the recent past and the food was very good too.

The food and service is amazing, even if you make a last minute reservation, the owners always accommodate you. We've never had a bad experience and we've been visiting the sloop for a while now. We recommend the steak pie, it's so flavoursome and full of soft tasty meat. The desserts are really tasty too. All staff are very friendly and professional throughout. Can't recommend the sloop enough 5⭐

Booked last minute today (Sunday, 14 Jan 24) for a table for 2 and was offered 2:30pm. Amazing service, such lovely people which matched the food. We were recommended by friends, having driven by many times, we will definitely be back. Also really comfortable, bright and modern interior.!

This is the second visit to the Sloop. Very accommodating for our family Christmas meet up. Smooth service, lovely staff. Nothing was too much trouble. Took great care with the meals for the two people with allergies. The whole family enjoyed our last visit and this visit was just as good. Thank you so much for making our family meet up special.

We came for an evening meal with our daughter who was over for a short visit from Spain. She’s a coeliac who doesn’t eat meat and it’s not easy to find something for her to eat here when we go out. We come to The Sloop fairly often and always find the food excellent and staff welcoming. It has a really good atmosphere. We had checked previously and was told that the chef was able to do gluten free fish and chips for her. She said they were absolutely delicious, non greasy and a really generous portion. Our Christmas meals were just as good.

Lovely pub which has been transformed by the present owner. Is now bright, revamped with lovely wood burner and open fire, with guest beers and super food. Highly recommended!

We called in after a long journey with little time to spare and the service and welcome were amazing. We were served very quickly with very tasty, fresh fish and chips which were absolutely delicious. Definitely recommend on all counts.

Lovely Sunday Lunch venue. We were first time visitors with a table for 6, no real expectations but all of us were very happy with our lunch. Our table was ready, clean and easily accessible, our drinks order taken and delivered quickly. Between us we had roast beef lunch, lamb shank lunch and steak and ale pie plus desserts and all had drinks. The food was delicious, very well cooked and piping hot. The service was excellent and super friendly and the atmosphere was buzzing. Total speed for the 6 of us was less than £25 per head. Excellent value Parking is right outside the door and toilets and clean and modern I would recommend trying this place for a Sunday lunch

Weve been to The Sloop several times since we've lived here and I'd say this is the best place to eat in Barton. The pub is traditional in layout which makes for a pleasant dining experience - and with no irritating background music to annoy you. No problem to just pop in for a beer either which is something a lot of food pubs tend to ignore. The menu is varied and inventive - and all the food is home cooked and delicious. The prices are very reasonable for the quality of food. Justifiably popular it's always best to book a table - even in mid week.

Ate here today ( 16.11.2023 ) with friend's, Was told it was under new management and had been renovated was not disappointed. Only had senior meals but food was well cooked, hot and tasty. Service was spot on. Young lady that served us was polite and helpful. Owner nice guy. Will be back soon for a full sized helping. Recommended. Steve Parsons, Doncaster.

What a fabulous welcoming pub, Thursday 16th November, from the lovely landlord to the barmaid, Amelia? the beautiful double sided roaring log burner, the amazing selection of real ales and the fabulous food! Such a warm welcome and a shrewd move being open earlier than most pubs in the area. It was full by 5pm!! Hats off to this establishment- a very warm welcome & atmosphere second to none! We wish we were locals! Fish & chips to die for!

Really poor service got sat down with family of four the women on the bar looked down on us was not welcoming at all! It was like she took a dislike to us not sure if it was my dog was larger than the two dogs in there. We got the dog settled and the children as she said only two small tables so I said that’s ok we can sit on both! Anyway we all got sat down and I asked for a menu as no one came over. She then paused and said oh we can’t serve you any food because Ben thought they don’t close till 2 apparently as she said we have just had a pre order come through! Absolutely Shocking ! Awful rude service

Absolutely shocking. We entered the pub after a long journey with full family (3 young children) and our dog. The staff ( a lady) didn’t look happy we had entered her establishment , but invited us to sit in the dog friendly food area and get settled. When we went to order drinks and ask for a menu, we was then told they could not serve us food due to a large order. I run a large business in the area and I would be not happy turning away people. We then headed to Hope and Anchor who couldn’t have been more welcoming not just with the children but with the dog too, food bowls and water provided on arrival. I won’t be returning to this place and will certainly be letting my circle of friends and family know

This is the third time we have eaten in this pub. We only visit the area every 3 to 4 months. Food is exceptional staff are very friendly and efficient. Definitely recommend this place.

Great food, but also great atmosphere if all you are looking for is a nice drink.

Food was absolutely amazing. Really good sized portions and owner is very friendly. Slight issue with the food was rectified, not the sloops fault, it was a supply issue which was obvious, very warm atmosphere and would definitely recommend venturing there your self. Extremely reasonable pricing aswell.

Went with family for a lovely meal, great service, didn't have to wait ages for the food to be served, good size portions, teapot enjoyed it.

The Sloop Inn is a lovely venue. Small, cosy rooms with a few tables in each. The home cooked food was delicious & plentiful, all served with a pleasant smile. Lovely.

Went for lunch Thursday 21st September for lunch my wife had Chicken Caesar Salad, which she said was amazing, I had the steak and ale pie, but I must admit I’ve never had one with so much steak, the pie crust was amazing, I can only recommend 101% everything was just perfect. Lovely pub. Very welcoming staff. Nice refreshment stop after walking over the bridge from Hessle. Couple of real ales on. Although we didn't eat there, plenty were.

My first visit today with family - they had eaten here previously. It is certainly a little gem of a pub. The staff are so helpful and friendly - and I'm guessing it was the landlord - was delightful. The menu is excellent and not too big to be overwhelming. The fish and chips were excellent, as was the steak and kidney pie chosen by my family. They like it because it's close to walks near the Humber, and dogs have their special area in the pub. Well worth a visit, but booking is rtecommended.

First time at this pub, very pleasantly surprised. It was clean, very roomy for a small establishment, it also had a pleasant comfy outside area. We had a small lunch and I personally thought the lasagne was home made, it was very tasty. The selection...

Came here for some food before going on a walk under the bridge. The food was very tasty. I had fried chicken with maple sauce. The only problem was there wasn't enough!!

Been to The Sloop Inn when visiting The Ropery before so knew how good it was. Great menu and an additional fantastic vegetarian menu for my friend. Why can't all pubs do this? Food was fantastic, complimented by perfectly chilled Aspall draft cider. Will definately visit again.

Brilliant food and staff wonderful

Came to Barton visiting a family member. Travelled by public transport from west Yorkshire and was looking for a dog friendly place to eat before I left for the journey home, after posting on a local group asking for recommendations because when I was searching lots of places wasn't open mondays or didn't do food that day, the sloop was mentioned alot. I have photos of being in the sloop from 35years ago with my nana ivy Salter and arty my grandad who often went in has they lived waterside road, so it was strange to see it in its updated modern self. Old memories stay in your mind I guess, but its extremely clean and looks like brand new, lovely that they have a small but varied variety of vegetarian food and I did ask for extra gravy (like my food swimming in the stuff lol) that was no problem at all. Food was nice and my dog fell asleep so she was obviously relaxed. My uncle enjoyed his food too. Designated area to eat with your dog with you. I'd definitely go again but couldn't if there was many other dogs in the space

Excellent place to eat...The Sunday roasts are the best around and I eat in alot of resteraunts but this is first class at a great price...plus my dog loves it with his doggy dinners....5 star...

Always a warm welcome at the sloop. Popular place to eat so worth booking table to be sure of getting a spot. Food is fab. Dog friendly too so that's a bonus.

Very nice fish and chips on a Sunday evening. The family event made more enjoyable there was good pescatarian choices all was fresh cooked and very nice there is an open fire and a bar. Service good and prompt. Warm and inviting on a cold winter night. This venue must have one of the best vegetarian and vegan menus in the region.

Fantastic pub and excellent service! Dog friendly and reasonably priced. Visited this pub for my auntie’s big birthday and it is wonderful. Excellent service and the staff were extremely helpful and friendly. Amazing choice of food on the menu and portion sizes were generous (see the pictures of the desserts!) First visit. Doesn't look great from the outside, but the interior decor, the tasty food & the friendly staff should keep you coming back. An overcast Thursday lunchtime was very busy so goodness knows how busy it is on a 'busy' day in Summer. I'll be back!

Wonderful pub with a great host

Very nice back street pub, visited twice while staying a few mile away, locals and the very nice staff made us very welcome, the beer was lovely but the food was extremely good (steak pie, fish n chips to name a couple ) and not overpriced. Lady behind the bar even laughed when we walked out without paying asking us to come back when we were halfway out the door,genuine mistake i thought my Mrs had paid and she thought i had (twonks), We will definitely be back when next in the area. Gorgeous pub really friendly kept our dogs watered too by refilling their bowl when it was empty unfortunately we had just missed the food as it stops 2-4 but will definitely be back

We called in at the end of a afternoon walking. Very friendly pub and welcoming bar staff. Nice beer and great food. We had a pie meal and haddock meal. Both were delicious. We shall go again. Well done to you all and thank you.
