Updated review - Visited again recently and was just as good. Tried the gluten-free burger this time with sweet potato fries and it was superb, followed be equally delicious gluten-free syrup sponge pudding with custard. Original review - Great pub, lovely people and perfect food. Found The Sloop Inn whilst looking for somewhere serving gluten-free food. I had gluten-free fish and chips with mushy peas which were just perfect. The staff were great, superb service and good humour. All topped off with gluten-free desert (apple crumble and custard). 100% Thank you 👍

First off all, what a very friendly and warm welcome. I took my mum up to the Humber and we called I to the Sloop. Plenty of parking and as I say we could not have been made to feel more welcome, I sense you may need to book in the summer. As a gluten free diner I was pleased to see a wide choice for lunch, including the holy grail fish and chips. Could not fault for value either, was nice and warm inside with the log fires, and reasonably priced. Would certainly recommend.

First time visiting the Sloop and we were greeted with a warm friendly welcome! We hadn’t booked but were shown to a table for the two of us. We don’t wait long for our food and it was superb! We shall definitely be returning!

Lovely Sunday lunch, good beer, nice and warm on a cold day. Reasonably priced. All in all an enjoyable visit, got lucky as we didn't book in advance but would recommend you do.

Always excellent food and very good, friendly service. You are advised to book though, for whatever day. Good selection of beers. Not open Mondays or Tuesdays at preaent.

The Sloop has been consistently good over the last few years, so good that this is our go-to place for Sunday dinner when we have big family get togethers. There are vegan options which is great however, after a recent visit I’m not sure I’ll be heading back in a rush as there have been several changes to some of the veggie/vegan options on the menu which have been a real let down… Previously the nut roast was absolutely delicious but the recipe has changed in the last 12 months and it’s not as good. Also the vegan apple crumble is nowhere near as delicious as it used to be. This was a real letdown this weekend unfortunately. Please bring back your old recipes?!

I went there with my daughter and son in law to celebrate my late husbands birthday, it was a lovely evening.

We come back here time and time again. Be warned you need to book it is that popular here!!! Staff and service are brilliant and the food is unreal! I’ve never had a bad meal! Easily my most favourite place to eat in Barton! You won’t be disappointed coming here!

Friendly staff, lovely atmosphere, clean and welcoming decor , especially the log burners. Good food at good prices, served hot . We’re new to the area and looking for somewhere to treat ourselves occasionally , so glad we found the Sloop-everything was perfect , thank you Gee/Deb , we’ll be back !

Simply the best public house in Barton. Fantastic range of beers, food is awesome. Owners are always around to say hi or have a chat. Staff are a great bunch, great service with a smile. Great beer garden at the back.

A Great pub with very friendly staff and a food menu with a good variety of meals to choose from, it's cosy and warm with a log burner welcoming you to sit beside , The food is good quality with generous portions and a proper home cooked taste, an excellent place to meet with friends.

We pre-booked as a party of 9. It was my first visit. I rang the day before and changed my preorder and they couldn't have been more accommodating. The meals arrived shortly after we arrived and everyone's was lovely, fresh and very tasty. The ferrero rocher cheesecake was the best I've ever had. The staff were warm and welcoming and the prices were very reasonable, especially the drinks. They had a very good selection of vegetarian food. I'll definitely go back again.

Lovely cosy pub with home cooked food

Superb meal for 2 at the Sloop on 5th December. Both had Christmas menu one of which was the vegan option. Absolutely superb meals with great friendly service.

Gammon roast dinner very tasty. Portions a very good size. Staff friendly, welcoming and attentive.

Amazing food, staff, and atmosphere. If its a Sunday roast book first as its busy. We had the slow cooked braised beef and it was the nicest roast ive had for a few years (excluding my mums christmas meal of course) desserts are specials and we had spiced apple crumble what was just also really nice and with the fire going it fealt really nice. Absolutely beautiful food tried here for lunch after a lovely walk around farings my husband had the slow roast lamb shank and I had the steak and ale pie followed by oreo cheesecake and apple crumble will definitely be going again when where out and about on our walks xxx

Visited when we were fit in at the last minute for a cancellation for a table for 2. Absolutely fantastic fresh food with real attention to detail and great service despite being extremely busy. Would highly recommend this pub as the unsung best eating experience in Barton at the moment; better value than most for the food you get

After a wet walk over the Humber Bridge we arrived at The Sloop. We were greeted by a friendly and welcoming gentleman who found us a table near to the log fire, which was a blessing. It was quite busy and despite this we were served promptly. They have a good menu for vegan and vegetarian options. The decor is tasteful and cosy. Hardly having to wait long at all for the food, it was wonderfully presented, all homecooked and plentiful. The staff are efficient and helpful. We will definitely be visiting again, thank you.

Visited with a party of 7 for an evening meal for a special family occasion. At their request, we pre-ordered in advance from the menu to 'help the kitchen staff'. Arrived a few minutes late for our booking but before all of our group had arrived, they started to bring the food without warning! When you have a normal table booking, without a pre-order, you usually arrive, select from the menu & wait! Why was our food expected to be on the table the minute we walked through the door! Although the food was very nice - We felt rushed (tried to clear plates before food was finished) & unwelcome & probably won't eat here again. So disappointed.

Absolutely delicious fix and will definitely go back. The only issue was that it was far too warm in the place. Needs some AC or windows that open as there was no air and it was very uncomfortable.

An excellent range of cask ales at very reasonable prices. Friendly service from the staff behind the bar. I didn't eat here but the food looked very tempting. I'll definitely go back to eat another time.

Food was slow coming out of the kitchen even tho the pub was not full plenty of empty tables at 1pm .when my food eventually arrived my pie was still frozen in the middle so was definitely not fresh. Second time round all was good and piping hot .my partner had fish and chips definitely was not fresh either as fish was soggy .desert was nothing special either over all 3/10 lovely pub poor food and slow service .just to add as you can see 👀 the receipt clearly someone didn't like my review was clearly throwing the alcohol down 👍 yeah right honest reviews only

Went here today and had the Pie and it was INCREDIBLE!!! The Mrs had Fish and Chips and that was also delicious...really crispy and HUGE!!! The only downside was the family on the next table letting their toddler lose with absolutely no supervision to the point where the toddler walked out of the pub on its own whilst they were busy pouring booze down their throats. The atmosphere in the pub was great and the beer was lovely and cold!

Took a run over there today as working in the area. Went into the Slopp inn. Welcomed and seated straight away. I saw a plate of Sunday roast on the table next to mine . It looked great so I ordered it. . The 12hr slow roast beef was so fine and it fell apart on the plate and melted in the mouth add some roast potatoes , mashed, a mix of veg ,a great gravy and a cracker of a Yorkshire. Sunday was complete! Well done and thank you

Me and my wife took my Dad here for Sunday lunch, having booked well in advance, as it's always popular. We were greeted warmly by a member of staff who showed us to our table and took an order for drinks. We ordered traditional Sunday lunches; two of us had gammon, and one had the beef. The food was hot, plentiful, and very tasty - we all left empty plates. We would all recommend this pub/restaurant, and we will definitely return soon.

Cracking place with really good classic pub food. We had a curry, Jerk Chicken Salad, a Steak and the Liver/Bacon and all were excellent. Shared a crumble and custard as well ! Saw a burger pass by and that looked huge !! Special mention to the lady who looked after us. Really friendly and an asset to the pub. We will be back.

Sunday roast, the braised beef, is gorgeous. Vegetables are well prepared and Yorkshire pudding delicious. Only minor comment is the potatoes are perhaps not crispy enough for roasties - but still nicely seasoned. Staff are polite, service is quick and the pub itself is well decorated.

Went there today after heaing how good it was but was very disappointed i'm afraid, had the meat pie pastry didn't seem that fresh and the meat was very dry and tough, my friend had the same and said hers was the same.

If you want fabulous food, surroundings and attentive staff, then look no further than The Sloop. We meet friends here as it is about half way travel time for both sides, so perfect and we are never rushed. For quality and value for money it really is spot on.

First time for Sunday lunch absolutely fabulous. Great friendly service lovely atmosphere and most importantly great food. Will be returning.

We eat here quite a lot with it being our local pub and we are always treated to a warm welcome from the team at The Sloop. The food is consistently good; particular highlights are the steak and ale pie (so good, so much meat!) and the rump steak. My grown up kids love the burgers - both of them. The Jamaican Jerk burger always goes down well, even with pineapple on it (really works)! The halloumi and olive salad is really good - I ordered a side of chips, but didn't need it, as it was so full of halloumi! There is a great selection of beers (real ales) and wines, as well as the usual full bar offer. The decor is lovely and as mentioned above, there is always a very warm welcome. You do need to book in advance for eating (which is something we had to get used to as that wasn't the case some years ago). But definitely worth planning ahead. My favourite place in Barton!

Had Sunday lunch for 3 today gammon, beef and home made pie all 3 meals came freshly prepared and quickly so tasty, couldn’t praise enough, the standard was 10/10 beautifully presented vegetables so fresh great variety, all 3 meats beautifully tender. Indulged in sweets bread and butter pudding, chocolate brownie and fruit crumble . Staff very friendly couldn’t do enough. Prices very reasonable. Would definitely visit again. Thank you 😊

We popped in here for a bite to eat. I was so impressed with their gluten free offering: the fish and chips were superb (and a treat for me as someone allergic to wheat!) as well as the halloumi. Would absolutely recommend; non fussy, friendly and good food.

Love it here. Traditional pub with contemporary attitudes. Food options for veggie, vegan, gluten free and other intolerances. Very kind and helpful. Good toilets.

The roast potatoes were heavy with garlic which put me off! Yorkshire pudding was very good. But braised beef was a bit slimy...no go for me left it and response was oh sorry about that....

My partner and I came from Cyprus to visit my daughter and her family. She mentioned that the food is supposed to be really good at The Sloop Inn. We all paid a visit on Wednesday evening. I ordered the Steak and Ale pie and I cant stop telling people how good it was! I have to say the best Steak and Ale pie I have tasted. Packed full of meat, no fat (I'm fussy) with rich, thick gravy. On the whole we all enjoyed the food and would definitely recommend The Sloop Inn!

10 out of 10 for everything. Lovely way to spend Mother's Day with 4 generations of family from 17 weeks old to 90! Food was perfect.

Walked past a few times and didn't go in. I really should have. What a warm welcome we were given. The staff were very helpful and professional. First impressions were good. So well layed out, well decorated, and very busy. Luckily we had booked. There was a good selection of ales which is an absolute bonus. I had liver and bacon and my dining companion had the haddock and chips. Hopefully this isn't being too rude to the chef but the food was well cooked, reasonably priced, pub grub. Nothing pretentious just good honest food. Result - two empty plates. Thank you, we will return.

The food and service is amazing, even if you make a last minute reservation, the owners always accommodate you. We've never had a bad experience and we've been visiting the sloop for a while now. We recommend the steak pie, it's so flavoursome and full of soft tasty meat. The desserts are really tasty too. All staff are very friendly and professional throughout. Can't recommend the sloop enough 5⭐

Booked last minute today (Sunday, 14 Jan 24) for a table for 2 and was offered 2:30pm. Amazing service, such lovely people which matched the food. We were recommended by friends, having driven by many times, we will definitely be back. Also really comfortable, bright and modern interior.!

Great food and beer! What more can I say.

We came for an evening meal with our daughter who was over for a short visit from Spain. She’s a coeliac who doesn’t eat meat and it’s not easy to find something for her to eat here when we go out. We come to The Sloop fairly often and always find the food excellent and staff welcoming. It has a really good atmosphere. We had checked previously and was told that the chef was able to do gluten free fish and chips for her. She said they were absolutely delicious, non greasy and a really generous portion. Our Christmas meals were just as good.

This is the second visit to the Sloop. Very accommodating for our family Christmas meet up. Smooth service, lovely staff. Nothing was too much trouble. Took great care with the meals for the two people with allergies. The whole family enjoyed our last visit and this visit was just as good. Thank you so much for making our family meet up special.

Lovely pub which has been transformed by the present owner. Is now bright, revamped with lovely wood burner and open fire, with guest beers and super food. Highly recommended!
