Nice pub good selection of beers etc only drawback for me is the music can be to loud otherwise nice pub.

We held our social event here. Lovely friendly staff, clean and tidy with fresh decor and good atmosphere.

Food was amazing and very filling, had a steak burger and chips with salad, absolutely worth the money, brilliant!!!

Yep liked the atmosphere and the warm reception... It was mid day... We just had a coffee.... Funny we both do Decaffeinated Coffee.... Of coffee without Coffee as we once had it described to us... Yet we'll visit somewhere.... First thing to do..... Have a coffee.... About a hour later.... Coffee time... & that's without the Caffeine topup 😁

I usually visit the Penny Bank for Live music on a Sunday and the occassional club night on a weekend but this was a different kind of visit as the venue now served food! We arrived for the Lunch & Evening menu, grabbed a drink and took our seats at a numbered table. We browsed the menu and then placed our order at the bar. My mum opted for the Fish and Chips and I went for the Homemade Steak & Ale Pie with mash and green beans. After a little wait the food came very well presented and freshly cooked. It was very aesthetically pleasing with beautiful presentation, like that of a more upmarket restaurant. The fish was so big it barely fit onto the board. The coating on the fish was light and crispy and the fish inside was cooked perfectly, flakey and soft. The fish lay on a bed of hand cut and cooked chips. It must also be mentioned that it wasn’t greasy and mushy. So pretty impressive and it wasn’t hard and tough to cut through the batter. I’m pretty sure the mushy peas weren’t out of a tin either and they were a delightful side bonus to the dish. It is slightly more expensive than some other local eateries but the quality was there and the ingredients have been sourced locally so it’s bound to cost a little more than bulk buying a load of stuff from the cash and carry frozen. My mum is quite the critic when I take her out to eat and I can safely say she didn’t have any complaints. I went for the Homemade Steak and Ale pie. It arrived carefully placed on a good helping of creamy herby mash. The green beans were also fresh, not frozen and they had a nice bite to them. The pie filling had big chunks of beef coated in a thick ale infused gravy. The pastry was cooked well and for shortcrust it was enjoyable. I’m always more of a puff pastry fan by personal preference. All in all, it was a pleasant experience.. It was in the daytime so it was a relaxed and chilled atmosphere and hats off to the chef preparing and cooking all that food alone. I get stressed cooking one meal nevermind several. The staff coped well even with a few first day hitches, nothing was too much trouble and we will be back again to eat in the future, I’m sure.

I frequent the penny bank as a drinking customer, recently I discovered that they now do food, I tried the eggs benedict and they was beyond exceptional, presentation was phenomenal and the price was more than reasonable. Staff was presented smartly and service was with a smile. Would definetly reccomend for anyone that wants a sit down meal or a quick bite too eat in the afternoon. 10/10

I've eaten food here now on a couple of occasions, most recently I had the rissoto primevera. The quality was exceptional, the service was second to none, and the venue was amaculate. Great to see a local pub serving affordable high quality food

I have eaten three times at 'The Penny Bank' during February 2020 so far. I ate the best fish 'n' chips I have ever tasted last Friday lunchtime (7 February) - large piece of fresh haddock, with a light crispy batter and really good chips. On the evening of Monday 10 February I tried the beef burger - which was also excellent. A really succulent home made burger - not just a disc of the factory pressed frozen effluent available in some town centre pubs. Quality pub food which does Scunthorpe proud.

It's a great place to meet and all the staff are great

I really enjoy spending time with the bartenders, the sense of community the bar has is superb, you are almost always guaranteed a good night, also the prices are extremely fair. Here are some silly pictures of the good nights I've had

The only reason I have started to come to the penny bank is that's is nice place to visit but the only problem with the place is the toilets​ are upstairs.

It has gotten much better with different owners and they even managed to get rid of the piss smell that use to haunt the place.
