We went for a carvery, one meat free. We hadn't been for a while and were surprised how few diners were eating there. Rather a long wait for anyone to take our order but when she appeared the member of staff apologised for the wait and was very efficient and pleasant. They do appear to be short staffed, not the staffs fault. I note there appear to be a lot of bad reviews re pizza so maybe that should come off the menu. The food on the carvery was good, plenty of it. It is what it is. Not fine dining, not fast food, but, a simple carvery. We live locally and we will go again...... for the carvery

Dreadful, starter not good, waited ages for pizza which never arrived had to ask for refund and buy one at Tesco. Think they completely forgot about us. Dreadful service. Shame as lovely position but needs complete refit and better staff.

Seemed like a lovely place to get some food while waiting for our ferry but should have gone elsewhere Arrived two families of four, when ordering our food we were not told there would be nearly an hours delay on our food being ready which is not ideal with children who were very hungry and a ferry to catch Severely understaffed and the one waitress we could see was avoiding eye contact Three people had carvery and that was great- no complaints with that However when the other meals eventually arrived the pizza base was raw and sticky, the adult pizza was practically the same size as a child pizza and the scampi and chips was nothing short of appalling- only 6 chips on the plate and wet soggy scampi Not to mention the terrible service- the plates were literally thrown onto the table with the words ‘chicken thingy’ which was really rude The children really looked forward to the unlimited ice cream but when they tried to use the machine all that came out was milk /vanilla soup where the machine was broken or not turned on properly. A manager was called but never appeared and the only alternative option we were given was a small fruit ice lolly which left the kids very disappointed. A bit of a shadow over the last few hours of our lovely holiday on the Isle of wight Would not recommend.

Went for dinner with friends on 20/12/23 - had a 8:15pm booking and we were told to hurry up to order as service was closing when we had only just arrived, food was fine but not the best. We visited as a family of 6 (4 adults and 2 children) for the Festive Lunch, and had the most wonderful meal! The staff were all so attentive and friendly from the front of house, to the carvery and to the table staff. It was a really lovely experience. The food was all really delicious, generous, such good quality, and piping hot. We'd like to thank Chris especially who clearly has an extremely good knowledge and understanding of food intolerances. My daughter is long-term medically diagnosed celiac and so cannot tolerate even the slightest touch of gluten. Chris was superb. Without any problem, he arranged completely safe plates of food for her. This is superb service! We were able to enjoy our meals together without any fuss, and my daughter had no adverse intolerance to the food provided. Thank you to all at The Sloop for a wonderful and completely relaxing time!

I can honestly say that this was the worst carvery that I have ever consumed Cold vegetables Congealed gravy that you could cut with a knife What on earth is going on Had a couple of friends over and recommended there for a meal Totally ashamed and embarrassed to take them there

Arrived about 7pm on Tues 12th December. Greeted by Emma who was very helpful. The place was practically empty. We both had the carvery. Meat was not bad but the vegetables were dreadful. Almost empty dishes and dried up. New dish of roast potatoes where provided when we asked, but they were nothing special. The gravy was almost congealed. Meal was certainly not worth almost £10 per person. Was not very impressed with my last visit, but this was far worse. A notice asked guests to leave a review on here to enter a draw for a meal for four in January. Please do not enter me as I would not eat here again....even for nothing!!! The staff do their best but I feel sure this place will be closing soon as it has reached the point of no return.

We were hoping that improvements had been made since our last visit in January. Had Christmas set meal, poor choice, dried mash potatoes, oily very hard roast potatoes etc but worse was the actual meat. Gammon hard turning with blood clots and appreciate some like blooded beef but not our choice. Lady serving us initially was chatty. Young man who continued service not versed up on how to carry portions (fingers in food) extremely poor service and off putting. Sloop inn definitely not a place to expect to have palatable food In.

Had a lovely family meal, we chose the carvery. I chose the snoop inn because they accepted a dining out card I had received which worked out nicely

This is the food I love the most, a really tasty slap-up roast. Juicy tender roasted beef, I can even eat it with false teeth. Sometimes I fancy a bit of gammon, but I do wish they’d get some lamb in. I’m not a great fan of turkey, it’s really just a Christmas birdie. The gravy tastes oh so good, and I fit extra in my Yorkshire pud. Roasted spuds tickle my taste buds with fresh veg galore. All served by the lovely Oliver – who could ask for more!

We arrived at 14.00 and was greeted and served by Oliver. What a lovely polite young man. He made us all welcome and was very helpful while we were ordering our food. He continued to be a joy to be served by when we ordered desserts and hot drinks. On leaving he wished us a Happy Christmas and New Year in case we did not see him before. He had served us the previous week and was just as polite and friendly then as he was today.

I was served by Michelle - she is an exceptional member of staff and was extremely helpful to me. I was there mid-afternoon, so very peaceful. Food was lovely - I will be back!
