I was charged £182.82 for three people and it has to be the worst food I have ever been served. I started with calamari. Instead of the expected rings of fried squid I was presented with a small dish which had about 10 tiny crumbs of calamari which could not have been bigger than a tiny finger nail. For this I was charged £12.95. My main which was tuna was small barely cooked and bland . For this I was charged £25.95. For desert I ordered Creme Brulee with brandy. It arrived with brandy on top of a non existent crust. I was treating a friend and did not want to complain and spoil the evening. However it is clear the owner of this business only cares about cleaning up with the tourists in Cowes in August. Not the standard you would expect from an Italian restaurant. Don't go unless you like over priced pedestrian food.

Disappointing meal. My salmon was overcooked and flavourless. The dish was not of good standard. My husbands steak was OK but not tasty. Not worth the price we paid.

Visited with some friends on Friday. Great pizza. Unfortunately the pasta portions were tiny and the sides ( sautéed potatoes and side salad were very poor). Service was also poor but nothing compared to how awful the house wine was. Shocking that today a restaurant should serve such dreadful wine. Will never go back.

Had a great meal before, unimpressed this time around. Asked if the sea bass was wild (as is much of the sea bass in the local isle of Wight restaurants) and were told the truth that it's farmed along with a tale that most restaurants serve farmed sea bass - chain pubs maybe. Seared tuna was not seared, was served in a jus but seems to have been cooked in the jus. Fairly tasty but not exciting for the price. Pizzas were okay but nothing to write home about. Desserts were tasty but are bought in. Service was friendly but we felt forgotten at the end.

Excellent meals over the decades. Sea Bass always very fresh, good choices of starters and very Italian sweets. The wine is always of good value drinking usually red. The pasta is usually just cooked perfectly, the sea food Risotto an excellent choice.

We've been coming to Tonino's for many years and always have a lovely night out here. In winter it can be quiet, in summer lively, but the atmosphere and service is always friendly and relaxed. The food is delicious and interesting with a frequently changing Specials menu and they are happy to adapt dishes for a fussy vegetarian :). Add to this excellent wine, cocktails and coffee - what more could you want? It is a wonderful, warm and welcoming family Italian restaurant and we're very grateful to have it in Cowes!

Absolutely wonderful meal. Couldn’t fault it. The service was attentive and friendly without being intrusive. Our waitress had time to briefly chat to us which was lovely (both waitresses were very good). Albeit it was a quiet Sat night in January, there was still a good atmosphere. House red very good (2 bottles). King prawn starter exceptional. Cod main dish beautifully cooked. Veal Milanese succulent and chicken saltimboca very tasty. Couldn’t fault anything. Just wished we lived closer so that it could be our regular haunt! Would definitely recommend for anyone in Cowes.

We booked a table in advance and arrived on time and gave our name to an elderly gentlemen who greeted us with a questioning look, as if he was surprised and confused that there was an early doors booking. We were shown our table by the door. The chairs on one side were compromised by an obstruction and one of our party had to sit at an angle. We were kindly offered a different table on the opposite side of the door and that too was very limited in space. All the tables that night were arranged very close together and we were thankful that we had indeed booked an early sitting, Because by the time most people arrived at around 7.30pm we had eaten and were ready to leave. We ordered the lamb stew and it was very salty and the vegetables that accompanied the dish were more than a little al dente. The food was edible but very mediocre. Sadly, we would not recommend Toninos and we will not be returning if visiting Cowes again.

The evening started well but was then ruined as our table for 2 was swamped by a huge noisy crowd. No offer to move us from the restaurant staff; we had to ask and were then moved (mostly doing it ourselves) to quieter area somewhat ungraciously. The portions are very large if you like that, but they do not know how to serve the classic Italian dessert Affogato - it came with cold instant coffee! Overall would not go again or recommend.

Without making a booking, they kindly found a space for us in busy Cowes Week. A very good choice of main courses, all well cooked. We shared a started of carpaccio of fillet steak - very tender & served with parmesan shavings & oil. Then I had a tuna fillet - fresh & pink and they gave me extra tomatoes as I didn't want chips ! Three of us visited on our last evening on 9th June. We should have realised it was not popular as it was the only restaurant we cold source as available to book at short notice. Two members of staff were serving, the younger when collecting our plates said "are you done?" which will highlight the calibre of customer service skills of the personnel. The other lady forgot our sweet. 10% was added and we paid over £100, which was certainly not value for what we had. I am sure the food was simply heated and not cooked on the premises. Nevertheless we paid and left and will not return. We may have just had one bad experience but a shame as our last night on the Island was tinged with a little sadness.

We tried to have dinner here. It was an unpleasant experience. The restaurant was filled with a group of around 20 extremely loud men being so drunk that we could not hear each other nor the the staff taking our orders. It was borderline going into total chaos. All other guests (about 16 people) seemed extremely unhappy too. As we don’t wish this to anybody, this can happen to any restaurant, but they handled it not well at all. They made an attempt to move us to another table a bit further away which seemed like a nice gesture. But while the noise was only a fraction better, the table was dirty from the previous diners. The food came and we had no cutlery no glasses. The salt, pepper, parmesan request went under in the noise until a few attempts later. We complaint and ask for compensation as any conversation was impossible. The owners said we should ask that noisy group to pay for our meal!!! Imagine! As a parody we did and that group even agreed to pay half, as they were perfectly aware of what was going on. While the restaurant made absolutely no attempt to make us feel somehow accommodated, compensated or satisfied. It was awful. First time here - never again.

One tends not to review restaurants in one’s home town but given a couple of recent meals I feel I have to. Tonino’s is an exceptional restaurant and way above what we would expect in a small seaside town. I have both lived in Italy (Milan) and am a frequent visitor there (mainly Naples). Thank you for the visiting sailors. The food is a combination of classic Italian dishes done expertly plus a few modern dishes which show inventiveness. The Bolognese sauce is a real classic. Don’t miss the calamari saltati, pan-fried squid in a spicy broth, and forget any preconceptions that calamari only exist in batter. Wild mushrooms in season are excellent, and the simple steak or lamb rump dishes simply cooked with mash and a vegetable show excellent cooking with first class ingredients. Even the pizzas would stand proud in any Naples pizzeria. And we often have takeaways - three cheeses are wonderful. But everything on the menu is worth trying. Helpings are large appealing to hungry sailors, and the staff are helpful despite catering for rushes of starving yachtsmen,Tony, the owner, is a stickler for C-19 rules and there are screens everywhere and sanitisers on hand.Long may Tonino’s be around for both visitors and regulars.

We visited this restaurant on our first night in Cowes. We didn't book and were lucky they were able to accommodate us as they were pretty busy. We were seated by the door which was left open and it was pretty cold. After about 20 minutes we were still waiting to order and had to ask for the door to be closed, which they did shut for us. I went for the Calamari as a starter. If you are used to your calamari coming deep fried in batter and a dipping sauce then this might not be for you, sadly it wasn't to my taste or to my friends who had also chosen this as a starter, the portion size was huge though. Our main meals were good, although again cooked differently than we were used to. I ordered a beef rigatoni dish but would argue the fact that it came with Penne pasta and not rigatoni (I would have ordered either way its just not what was described) and seemed to be quite oily. This was our most expensive meal that we ate during our visit to Cowes and the one that we most looked forward to but was the most disappointing. Its a shame that the rating on Tripadvisor is 3 stars for average and 4 stars for very good. I feel it was good rather than average but not one that we would return to.

I read the last four reviews all giving 1 star. I should have cancelled as I trust trip advisor. However I tried it. Pretty much everything said is true. The layout is cramped. Small tables. Packed together. The staff are not friendly or engaging. No smiles or chats. We were not table checked once. We needed drinks etc. The service charge is not mentioned and service at 10% should be to reward and thank good service. Where was the service? Simply placing down the food and drink I ordered is not service. House wine at £18 a bottle - plus £1.80 to deliver it. I’ve checked the wine on line and Vivino and a considerable mark up is already in place even without the additional and unnecessary service charge. Average overpriced food. £3.50 for a side portion of fries in a tiny bowl. Plus the 10% of course - £3.85......Will not be returning. A real shame.

yesterday me and my partner decided to book a table for this evening when we arrived we were greeted and seated all okay and nice enough ..... promising start .........But once we were seated that was it .....the fact they charge a service fee yet did not provide us with any , apart from bare minimum to get a food order , yet another couple who were the only other people in the same part of the restaurant as us may I add entered after us ! got checked on between 3-5 times as on of the front of house team knew one of them I mean not to check back and see if a customer is enjoying there food or not is an absolute joke Especially when you’re serving cold oily pasta and weird tasting peppers !!! If you charge service provide a service that warrants that charge and don’t send part of our meal to another table and not apologise to us who you faulted but the couple you fed our starter too got an apology .. I mean when you’re charging people the amount of money you are the least you could do is ensure the food is hot , not soaked in oil and is being enjoyed/not served to other tables. My second complaint is partially to do with the first part due to not being checked on and just general awful service , the disgusting oily mess of a creamy mushroom pasta type thing which was absolutely vile and about as warm as a baby’s bath water or a bill that I couldn’t even read or make any sense of at all which funny enough the gent who got served our starter on his leaving said good luck making sense of you’re bill mate , seems he was having the same issue as I was about to encounter£80 our bill would have been for two of us if it wasn’t for the discount thing reducing this by £20 I would not have been paying for the pasta or the service charge which you are meant to notify me about as I assume it was compulsory since it was added to my bill at the end with out anyone notifying me it would be charged when I was seated or when my bill was dumped on the table , I will not be back personally my self sadly as it is overpriced In my opinion but I believe in always finishing off criticisms with a positive and I will say you’re spicy Italian Sausage and margarita (pepperoni) was actually rather nice at least 8.5/10 Flavour wise but yet again felt like it had been sat out in the cold for a good 10 minutes

When they told me they proceeded to laugh in my face thinking it was funny with no offer of compensation or genuine apology. When the food arrived it was soaked in oil, burnt fish and undercooked peppers. One friends vegetables with the steak were under cooked and tasted like they were micro-waved. The experience was awful. It was an expensive waste of money, food ridiculously over priced for the quality. The manager did later offer to remove the late meal but overall was still very disappointing experience.DO NOT come here it is not worth it and there are many many vastly higher quality places to eat in cowes.

Wet and windy night in Cowes we decided a nice warm Italian meal served with the warm and welcoming Italian attitude would be the perfect ideaWrong! Can't really fault the greeting and seating process, wine chosen and served water on the table with two small token pieces of bread. The baked camembert appeared within 5 minutes - and upon eating it we realised why - as it was luke warm in the middle! Not the best start to our Italian adventure...One meal was the 'Spaghetti con gamberoni' which was a little bland and lacking the lively fresh taste one would have expected. The other dish was 'Linguine con pollo' described as being a 'creamy basil pesto sauce with chicken...'What was served was a bowl of soft linguine which was creamy and bland and no hint of pesto or chicken...When I raised the point with the waitress/owner I was met with disdain and informed that it was a creamy dish etc.. Indeed I said but where's the pesto? And before I finished my sentence the plate was removed and taken back to the kitchen. About 10 minutes later the same dish reappeared with the addition of pesto! Result I thought but unfortunately the pasta was now as soft as baby food and the dish still lacked love....and chicken! What was more disappointing was the lack of apology from anyone and for us to be completely ignored/blanked by aforementioned waitress/owner!This was the most expensive waste of time I have ever had the misfortune of encountering. Beware fellow eaters the spirit of Italy does not exist in Tonino no no nos!

Having said that we’re we’re all pleased with our food, except the risotto over cooked.Deserts not really the Italian delights we had hoped for, ice cream and Sorbet from Dorset, my Tiramisu was in fact layered sponge cake with cheap cream inside, it did say made with out coffee on menu so my fault I guess for ordering it !!One good point, Palma violet gin was in the drinks menu, sadly only larger in bottles for the boys, why not stock a good bottled real beer too.Service was my main concern, waitresses did not answer questions relating to the menu, simple, get to know the menu, you are front of house. left us sitting for long periods of time, all ready for another round of drinks but no service, no order placed. This place is busy because it looks the part and the menu on paper is interesting, sadly reality was not.

Gluten free pasta and home made gluten free pizza options too, as well as desserts, which was great for coeliac members of our family. Cannot recommend it enough - will be back.

We found Toninos on Trip advisor before we went on our weekend away and were also recommended by the owner of our apartment. The restaurant was very busy on the Saturday evening but the service was very quick and friendly. We had a mixed meat platter to start which was very nice. The food overall was very good. I would recommend Toninos to anyone.

I have eaten at Toninos many times over the years and have always thought of it as a good, average, Italian restaurant. However things can change. On our most recent visit I ordered a mushroom in tempura special. The tempura was thick and although crispy on the outside was uncooked beneath. I was also served a bruschetta which consisted of toasted bread, almost ripe tomatoes, and a couple of thick slices of probably mozzarella, ice cold and straight from the fridge. Buried within the bruschetta were a number of whole garlic cloves. How did I find these ? You guessed - I bit straight through one! My wife's pizza was also a disappointment being topped with a greasy yellow cheese of some kind.

We arrived at about 7 in the evening on a Saturday night. After being greeted by a friendly waiter we were asked if we had a reservation. Upon answering that we didn't book we were quickly ushered into a small side room of the restaurant. I had the feeling that this room was reserved for us naughty people who hadn't booked ahead, and for people awaiting a takeaway (if they provide this service). That aside, the table service was excellent and the food was extremely tasty. Two courses with two alcoholic drinks was £30. This included complimentary bread, butter and an Italian dip, plus grissini bread sticks. I would highly recommend this restaurant as the food and staff were spot on. Plus if you're lucky enough to be shown to a table in the naughty room you'll have a memorable experience, it really did make us chuckle..

We sailed to Cowes for our anniversary and we hadnt made a plan of where to go so we just googled Italian restaurants in Cowes and this one had the best reviews so we just turned up in hope for a table. We were lucky and we got a cosy table near to the window. We throughly enjoyed our food and we can both recommend either the bruschetta or the calamari for starters. We both ordered pasta dishes for our mains and they too were delicious and we can recommend the cheesecakes for dessert. All the staff were very friendly and we enjoyed the evening very much. We will definitely eat here again on our next trip to Cowes.

In Cowes you really need to book for a Saturday night but we managed to get a table for two. The restaurant has an old Italian family feel to it with a kind of chaotic behind the scenes service. The staff are friendly and welcoming and service was good. Portion sizes are quite large so order carefully if you don’t have a big appetite. There was bread and mayo on the table and I ordered the charcuterie board and a beef pasta dish which was plentiful and very tasty. My partner had the mushroom starter with a mixed salad as a main. No deserts but good coffee. Overall the cost including wine but excluding tips was £62 which is in my view good value. A good atmosphere and a pleasant evening means I would go back again.

Really pleased they were willing to accommodate us eating with our dog. Sat us in a separate room with its own entrance which we loved. Food was delicious, had the scampi and my husband had the steak. Doggie got brought out his own water bowl.

We are on holiday and looked up several restaurants. This came out the best in my eyes on reviews. The Resturant was very clean and well decorated. The food was fantastic. A very nice menu. The food was plentiful and the range of drinks was also vast. If we ever visit the island then this will be a must visit to eat. Well done one and all.

Really enjoyed my food there. I had scampi in garlic creamy sauce with black rice. My husband had aubergine and minced lamb pizza. He was pleasantly surprised too. The waiter was very friendly and relaxed in a positive way. We enjoyed our lunch a lot.

岛上实在没啥吃的,选个意大利餐,老板推荐蟹甲,吃完还是觉得意大利面好吃吧,比较经典点,蟹是冷的,一般般吧。其他的通心粉还可以啦

I had the pizza and I thought it was really tasty- it had chicken, mussels and spinach and was a good size. However the service really needs to improve and that’s why I’ve given 3*s. The bill was handwritten and scribbled. My friends and I had already calculated the amount we needed to pay plus the service . But it didn’t add up, we were still £10 short. The manager came and did calculations on our phone and also on his calculator before he admitted the total was wrong. It did ruin a perfectly fine dinner..

We had a delicious dinner here. The pizza was perfect and menu comprehensive. Service was also good. Little touches like a generous window table, water and crusty bread arriving automatically and our host sering us to the door all made a above average experience. The other young lad serving was also friendly and efficient. It's got to be good for us to order pudding and we both pigged out a bit here. The toilets seemed clean also. No service charge added to our bill (despite what thr menu says) so we left a little extra. The feel and style of big scrubbed pine dining tables and large group gatherngs didn't put us off.

Mixed views on the food. Starters were generally very good however the main courses were fairly bland and the meat tended to be over cooked - not very good. Service and welcome was good, but fairly expensive for what it was!

We've been here many times. It's conveniently located and usually very reliable in terms of food and service. This time it was a disaster. Saturday night and staff pretty much equalled the number of customers (4 tables). Despite this, service was lacklustre and seemed to be a side distraction from whatever else the waiters were doing. 3 pizzas and one pasta dish arrived but all 4 were lukewarm. The pasta was almost cold so was sent back once we managed to get a waiters attention again. We were so disappointed we made a point in saying afterwards it really wasn't good enough and at that point had one dish deducted from the bill. This isn't the point of course, you go out to eat and enjoy your meal, not to have a discount. We felt the place was sadly neglected and staff totally disinterested. Very sad for a chain that has always been so good in the past.

Brilliant pizzas & service. We had a pizza each, including a spicy pizza off the specials board that was recommended by the waitress. They even fulfilled my request for one of the pizza’s to be extra crisp! The pizzas were the best I have ever had. I can’t recommend this restaurant enough.
