Pizza Express in Isle of Wight

We've been here many times. It's conveniently located and usually very reliable in terms of food and service. This time it was a disaster. Saturday night and staff pretty much equalled the number of customers (4 tables). Despite this, service was lacklustre and seemed to be a side distraction from whatever else the waiters were doing. 3 pizzas and one pasta dish arrived but all 4 were lukewarm. The pasta was almost cold so was sent back once we managed to get a waiters attention again. We were so disappointed we made a point in saying afterwards it really wasn't good enough and at that point had one dish deducted from the bill. This isn't the point of course, you go out to eat and enjoy your meal, not to have a discount. We felt the place was sadly neglected and staff totally disinterested. Very sad for a chain that has always been so good in the past.

Three generations, the oldest reluctant to attend due to preconceptions but we all ate a very good meal. Love the salad, plenty of choice for main meals, its not just Pizza, and the young lady who served our table could not have been better: attentive and caring without the pressure to eat and get out as you sometimes feel in places

Usual choices but well delivered in efficient manner, pasta choices were tasty and general appearance of restaurant was clean.

We went on Friday evening, and im used to a discount but it didnt apply then so the meal cost more than an excellent Chinese Meal we 'd had a night before and almost double the cost of us all having a freshly made Pizza at Wetherspoons. Needless to say, Pizza Express do have a great range, their Pizzas are tasty but seem to lack meat options or a good multi meat pizza but the trade off is that its healthier. The waitress and Manager at the Newport store provided some of the best service we have ever had in this chain, both genuinely warm, friendly and helpful. We did have a lovely meal but will probably eat on a weekday next time and will revisit this restaurant.

We arrived at the restaurant without booking and were promptly found a table. We had a O2 offer and enquired when we sat down. They were very helpful and service was great. My wife is not a big pizza lover but she loved hers here as did I. A great surprise was seeing the pizza being made in front of you including the bases being fully made and professionally tossed in the air. A great find and we will dine in other Pizza Express outlets.

Manager customer service skills are awful food quality poor and no concern for customers avoid if want to enjoy a nice peaceful family meal

Excellent food. Very friendly service. Absolutely no issues. Usual standard for Pizza Express. Anyone who happens to be in Newport and fancies a pizza couldn't go wrong by eating here.

We had our daughters 9th birthday here, we had 14 children, i was wondering how it was going to work for 2 hours, but i have to say chris and team were wonderful. Kids had 3 courses, they made their own pizzas , they loved throwing the dough, there was so much laughter it was lovely to watch. They had a wonderful time!! If i had to find a fault it would be they had run out of balloons, but kids had a certificate and cake to take home.. it was 11.95 each child. I would fully recommend!!!!

We came here on the spur of the moment after just getting off the ferry. It was only about 4.30 and was quiet. The service and food were excellent. One waiter even got my son a choice of 3 different sauces for his ice cream when he couldn't decide which one to have.

Popped in here for a quick a lunch and was not disappointed. Lovely fresh crisp pizza was delicious. I live that you can see the chefs also.

Always been a fan of this chain, very disappointing, why when you eat by yourself are considered to be half the priority of the table next to you....waited over an hour for my mains, ordered olives as a starter that took 20 mins to arrive, (table next to me that arrived after me are on thier mains)...garlic dough balls were at the point of being burnt and the pizza....well I've put better cheese on toast in the bin...and the order came up wrong.

The restaurant was not very busy when we arrived. However it took them a long time to get a highchair so I went to find one myself. Placed are order and food came out hot and was good if a little slow. While service was slow as we had to go find staff to ask for the dessert menu then find them again for the bill. However the staff were the most switched on in terms of the menu and the fact we were vegan even confirming that we would be having soya milk with our drinks. I am used to this being mixed up in my local Pizza Express so this was a nice change.

Standard Pizza express product which is good. However service is very mixed and can take a long time. We tried to book recently and were told it was full but when we walked past the door at the time we requested it was almost empty.

A perfect place for a relaxing meal, great food and service. We were looked after as well as family members. The atmosphere is relaxing, we were not hurried through any course. Five stars

Never in my life have I walked into a professional restaurant chain and immediately been turned away from eating with my family due to “the chef finished in a minute and we don’t have anyone making pizzas after that”. This was at 4pm on a Sunday. Didn’t even get to sit down, had already checked that the place wasn’t full and menu met our dietary requirements so then paid for parking before entering to be told the above. Shocking!

Just want to say we (me and my daughter 7) had an amazing evening out great food service was fantastic so impressed how the waitress treated my daughter can’t wait to go back

10 of us booked a table. We sat and waited, selected and in anticipation of a great evening chatted away. Sadly the food was less than even good. To the credit of the waitress/manageress she saw we were not enjoying the meal and gave us two of the meals free of charge THEN admitted they had a trainee that evening on the ovens, explaining why they were all overcooked, even burnt. We can buy crisps from Sainsbury's. Our next visit may be some time away!!

So handy , great food always predictable, their Legere pizzas are pretty good too! Place is right in the centre of Newport and can accommodate large groups as well.

I'm not a big pizza fan. It's OK, but it doesn't excite my tastebuds.

Had an O2 voucher. Any Main for £5. No quibble. Lovely staff. Quick service. I had the superfood salad. Really tasty. My partner had spaghetti. No complaints at all over the food. The place was lovely and clean. Completely pleasant dining experience

Got to the restaurant after having booked online to be told they weren’t bothering with bookings as they’d been too busy so we had to wait for a table to be cleared. The food was lovely unfortunately can’t say the same about the service. The waiter dropped a knife and fork on my friend and didn’t even apologise then when he bought a spoon over for my dessert it was covered in food.

Good food and good service. Quick and fresh food - not like a competitor chain in the same town! Keep it up.

We visited here whilst staying in Newport, we booked beforehand but this wasn't particularly necessary but probably is at the weekend or high season. Service and food were great, in fact better than my local Pizza Express. We were immediately given ice water as it was a very hot day, the waiter was very helpful and attentive. If you're unsure about where to eat in Newport you'll definitely be Okay here.

Friendly welcoming staff. Large choice of menu. I usually use my Tastecard here for a buy one get one free. Well cooked pizzas, which you can see being made. Great variety of wines and beers.

Food good and restaurant clean, reliable pizza at a reasonable price. We mostly had what we wanted apart from there were no arancini balls. My baby enjoyed playing with a balloon and my brother enjoyed playing with her stickers and colouring sheets!

Lovely restaurant but food wasn't up to usual pizza express standard (pizza a bit overcooked) Our waiter was no more than adequate initially, made no attempt to smile or speak to us at all although got everything we asked for. Staff at the end of our visit were a lot better and much more friendly so we may have been unlucky.

Wow we didn't even get to sit in the restaurant. Tables all booked with times on. We visited at 4pm we eat early due to the kids. Most places would invite you in and say the table needs to be vacant by 7.30pm. Not here just a short sharp reply sorry no space here today..... kids disappointed and won't be going back. As obviously they must be doing ok to turn trade away.

We always enjoy Pizza Express and when we passed one by in Newport knew we had to stop there for lunch later. Good food and not too long to wait for it. The second time we visited there were several items unavailable on the menu, fortunately the menu is quite extensive so we got by. Overall both visits were enjoyable with good service.

We pop in quite often, staff are always friendly and helpful even when busy, we have tried a variety of pizzas and not been disappointed. Drinks are a little pricey but we usually have a soft drink anyway. We feelt the pizzas are good value for money, and have never had cause to complain.

We have been visiting this particular Pizza Express Restaurant for almost 8 years since we moved here permanently from London. With young kids we are no strangers to various London pizza express restaurants. The Isle of Wight branch is the best Pizza Express that we have ever visited. Front of house is exceptional and the quality of the food is unsurpassable. No matter how busy/stretched they are we are always well looked after and our visit is always worthwhile. Thank you. Mothers Day today no exception-really busy restaurant; but everything perfect. Thank You!

We ate at PE Newport only because it was Sunday night and it was the only place with any people in and any atmosphere. The food was pizza. Nicely presented and nicely done. Nothing spectacular but to coin a phrase they delivered our order nicely, well cooked and in a timely fashion. We enjoyed it. The server, tall guy, beard (no name sorry which is poor of us) was excellent. Attentive, knowledgeable, understanding and slick. He earned you a 5 rating.

Me and my girlfriend come to pizza express quite a lot and we love it! Service here is excellent and the food is lovely! My girlfriend can’t eat dairy and they are always super accommodating! 5 stars!

The service was slow as one waiter was serving everyone. The food was tasty and well presented my cannelonni was delicious other meals were also very good. would have been very expensive but we had offer of 2 courses for a set amount. Good experience on the whole though.

Came here Friday night at had the calabrese, was very good. Service was good too, thank you to our waitress Shannon for making our evening an enjoyable one. Look forward to our next visit :)

Very nice welcome. Clean restaurant, and sparkling cloakroom. Table setting lovely with Xmas battery table light in a jar. Well groomed friendly efficient waiter. Recommended the gammon pizza which was perfect, nice sweet flavour to it. Which we had with the super salad. We found a 25% voucher code, and the meal with two cokes came to £25.

The pizzas are the usual Pizza Express fare. All our food was excellent. Service was very good. Did not disappoint.

Very enjoyable meal had by All, food was great (really enjoyed the Romana pizza base). Food came quick and salted caramel profiteroles were so good but the review got 5 stars because of the service. Although food was great, the service was faultless and our waitress (Shannon according to the til receipt) was very friendly, efficient and went above and beyond. A real asset to the company.

I love pizza express and this was a good option for us and the kids. The restaurant was not that full at the time when we had visited but service was slow. we waited almost 40 minutes for our food, it is fine when you are on your own but difficult with kids.

After a long day of walking we decided to stop at a nice restaurant, I'd been to a pizza express before and it was nice, as it was busy, it made it understandable that the waiting times were a little long, we were waiting for about an hour, but as I say, it was very busy.

We were lucky that it was fairly quiet when we were there. The staff were extremely pleasant and helpful. The food was first class. My wife enjoyed her pizza, as did I my lasagna. We would return with pleasure.

over priced ..... this was our first visit to a pizza express .... and our last .... the food was over priced and more like a micro wave meal ..... it wasn't very good to hear from the manager that the meals we had ordered will be removed from the menu in future because of the numerous complaints ..... it would have been nice to hear that before we ordered ....lol

We stopped here today for dinner.Family of four Three ordered pizza and I had ordered risotto. I smelt a burning smell, which turned out to be the risotto, this was then dished up and served to me this way.When I questioned it the waiter, face like thunder took it way!He then said it is always like this. as it sticks to the pan! (No try stiring it and adding a bit more liquid). This solves the burning issue.I have eaten at many Pizza express restaurants. This is by far the worst.His attitude was terrible, no sorry, not even a thank you at the end.We were planning on eating deserts but decided not to after noting the attitude issue..I would not recommend anyone to go here. Look elsewhere for your food.Manager, please remember that without customers you will have no job!

You know what you are getting when you choose a large chain and to be honest this is one of the benefits rather than choosing local and independent...you may get brilliant and you may get poor (Trip-advisor reviews help of course)We chose to go on a mid week evening for exactly this reason..we know what we could expect to get. The pizzas are good and it's where we normally select if we dont have much time or we dont want to take a chance.A couple of things that were new to me...when we we arived we were asked if we had any gluten free requirements...they asked as they had just run out of gluten free bases, its great to know that they do cater for this. Another new thing...they had a vegan oizz on the menu (using a vegan mozzarella alternative). For year I have substituted another topping for the cheese and had some very nice pizzas that are vegan...I tried the new one and it was fine but so where the others though. Many thanks to Pizza Express for thinking about the coeliacs and vegans too...perhaps we are becoming main stream :)The service was good our waitress hand endless patience with the family that had kids from hell and managed to break multiple glasses (why not move them out of reach !....and the glasses :)3 pizzas and starters...used one of the online offers to get them at £9.95 for starter/meal combination each.If anything my criticism might be that there there was too much topping on the Giardinare one, there was masses !The restaurant was comfortable with plenty of on road parking in the area. Good access for anyone with mobility issues.

We visited on a very dreary summer's evening, the restaurant was fairly busy and we expected we were in for a long wait. Our waiter James was excellent, we didn't feel rushed to eat our food but we also weren't waiting for ages (as can happen sometimes) but on this occasion it was fab!

We visited this restaurant last week and found the whole experience excellent. We hadn't booked but the waiter said although they were busy and the order may take about 20 minutes to arrive . As it happens we were dealt with very quickly and our food arrived in good time with all our meals been just perfect. The main man (didn't get his name) was very friendly and attentive which made our whole experience top notch. Great job done by all.

Visited today, 6 adults, a 10 year old and an 8 year old. 7 adult meals and a child's. At the end of the meal, the waiter brought the bill and it had a 12.5% service charge added. When challenged he said it was because we had 7 adults. We pointed out that one was only 20, the menu states in small print that this charge will be added for 7 or more adults (18+). After some discussion he agreed to remove the charge, fairly reluctantly. Left a very bad taste after a decent meal. I've been eating at Pizza Express for 25 years, never had an experience like this before. Very much put off.

We booked and when we arrived the restaurant was very busy, but all of the staff were friendly, professional and helpful.Not much else to say other than the food was good as ever - you know what you are going to get but that is a good thing I think.I was eating with two 11 year old boys who and Pizza Express covers their desires (pizza) and I love the super food salad so all happy.

Really nice food and lots to chose from. Suitable for those who are vegan as my friend had a lovely pizza and garlic bread! Will always go again.

We had four pizzas and we tried both the Romana style and the classic. Diavolo was very hot with different peppers. Nice veneer and olives for starter.

Our family of 4 adults and 2 children enjoyed delicious meals with lovely service. We booked a table online for 5pm on the Saturday before Father's Day and found that this was a great time to eat, not busy and very pleasant. Nice staff, delicious food and timely service.

We went here for my Daughter's birthday and it was very nice. The food took a little long to come but we were a big table. I think some of the servings are a little on the small side but all very tasty.

Popped in late Sunday night when most local pubs had stopped serving food. Seated and served very quickly by friendly staff. Lovely menu as always with ample accommodations for vegans. Left very full and very happy.

Was served a wet soggy pizza, when I complained I was told they are supposed to be runny and soggy it was Pizza Expresses new recipe! The guy who appeared to be in charge wouldn't let me send it back and then went over to the chefs were they all had a group chat about how I was in the wrong, and that particular pizza is supposed to be served runny!!! The rest of the food was tasteless and extremely over priced :( Will not be returning

The kids and I sat at the table for half an hour after finishing our meals before anyone came and cleared down and offered the kids their puddings from their set menus. The manager doesn't seem to know what he's doing and the staff spend more time flirting with each other than serving the customers!

A very rude male member of staff who openly spoke about us with other colleagues after we addressed an issue with our meal. Food was nice but not a friendly atmosphere.

We are Thursday night regulars after choir and we are now recognised with ours drinks ready waiting. The staff are very helpful and will if possible accommodate food wishes not on the menu. With a NatWest Tastecard, excellent value.

We arrived just before the lunch rush ,so had a choice of seating . I personally don't think its a good as menu as other pizza restaurant's.Our meals came out quickly and were soon all finished.Overall we had a good experience ,but for me I think it was a little over priced for what you get.

Good food however we were dining as a large group and 2 of the mains came after everyone had finished theirs. However the staff were very apologetic :)

Pizza Express, exactly same world over, nothing particularly express but food was okay and price not too expensive.

It doesn't matter if you are in Newport, Devizes or London, you always know what to expect and are rarely disappointed with Pizza Express, this occasion was no exception. Thoroughly enjoyed my food as did the wife and kids, if there was one gripe it'd be that my father's pizza base was very thin even for a romana, this meant it required cutlery to eat. That aside service was very friendly smiley and helpful bringing out the cake for our daughter who's second birthday we were out to celebrate. Would recommend.

Took family for dinner out on holiday, our first ever evening out as a family as our two boys are autistic so eating out has always been tricky.Venue is open and airy so plenty of space for the children to spread out without impacting other diners. Waiting staff were lovely and really friendly throughout. The boys and myself ordered pizzas and my wife selected the seafood risotto. Unfortunately they had run out of risotto so she selected a pizza instead.The food was really good and the boys really enjoyed the experience, especially watching the chef prepping the pizza and flinging it in the air! Prices were fair, children's 3-course menu was £6 each.Thanks to all staff for a great night out. We were expecting to be there for about 40 minutes but we lasted well over an hour and managed two full courses (technically three, but we ate the doughballs and pizza in one go!).

Went to pizza express as a group of 4, arrived and was completely full and people were turned away. Only had three servers to begin with which dwindled down to two throughout our meal there. Service was so slow and we're often waiting up to half an hour between courses. They failed to check up on us through the meal so had to go to the toilet to fill up our water jugs!!!!!! After asking for the dessert menu and finally coming to take our order we were then told that 'we probably don't have what you want' so we asked do you have x? 'Probably not' after a few rounds of this he finally decided to go and check what he actually had left, only to find he had around 3 deserts left. Once we got the bill we got given 20% off for the service as we went to pay the lady rudely stated that we better pay correctly each or else it comes out of my wages. After much confusion over pay our individual totals did not match the grand total by £2 short and the lady replied saying 'well you did get 20% off anyway' after much calculating we found out ourselves that we did in fact NOT get given 20% off but 16% TERRIBLE. AVOID.

Been to pizza express so many times I have lost count! Its normally brilliant but I think because they were terribly short staffed, this time wasn't as great. We had to wait 20mins to order the food, then 45minutes to get served and another 30mins for the dessert menu. We were then told that we got 20% off the bill (very much appreciated) but then we were told we had under paid as indeed we got 16.67777% off at which the waitress did not seem impressed when we looked puzzled. Even had to go into the loo to refill our water! Don't get me wrong the food was lovely, and we did appreciate the money off it was just the attitude with it that we could of done without.

I have been to numerous PizzaExpress's and for the last 20 odd years too. But last night I had the best pizza I have ever had at PizzaExpress and cooked by the youngest chief too.I had the Pianta pizza on a Romana base made and cooked perfectly by Tristan.

Me and my friend came here on Friday 24th March for a nice meal. Initially service was brilliant, we were seated promptly and our order was taken quickly. We had dough balls for starter and they came in a reasonable amount of time, they were then taken straight away. It wasn't very busy and it took about half an hour for us to get our pizzas, people who came in after us got their pizzas before us, but we didn't say anything. After we had eaten it took about 20 minutes for the waiter to clear our table even though he could see we were done but carried on taking other orders. Our desserts came quickly, and after we ate them, we wanted the bill, however even though the waiter saw we were done he took other orders, gave others their meals and also gave bills to other tables even though he looked directly at us multiple times, it took about half an hour for us to actually get the bill to be able to leave. The meal itself was excellent and we would have left a tip but the shocking service meant we did not tip and we were left very disappointed due to this service especially because it was not overly busy

Massively, massively disappointed. We booked in for dinner here as we were visiting the island for my daughters birthday. Unfortunately our boat across got delayed as the Britannia cruise ship was holding everyone up, which meant we'd be late for our booking. And this is where things started to go wrong.First I called (at 18:45pm) and was diverted to leave a message so I hung up and called back. This time someone picked up then, without saying a word, put the phone down on the counter. I said "hello" several times, but was ignored. I could hear the restaurant, but no one bothered to communicate with me. I stayed on the line for about 1 minute then hung up.So... I tried calling again (3 times) but the phone was engaged (probably still sat on the counter from my second call). At this point we decided if their service could be so terrible without us even walking through the door, we'd be better off not visiting at all. So we didn't.Shocking...

I'm sad to say I was quite disappointed in this restaurant, It was our first time to ever visit a pizza express and I can't say that I would ever be returning anytime soon. We visited for our daughters birthday midweek, firstly without going into too much detail the staff were not very helpful, seemed quite miserable or unhappy and barely broke a smile until we were leaving, some seemed to pay more attention to how shiny the glasses and cutlery were on the empty tables than they did the customers, the food was not really anything special and for the prices was terrible, we had ours on a deal (saved approx. 30%) and it was still quite expensive, some desserts advertised as 'homemade' tasted more like it was from the wholesalers (Bookers for example) We would normally have gone to Pizza Hut but thought we would try these instead and what a mistake that was, at least at Pizza Hut we get a warm welcome, friendly staff and you know what to expect with the food.

Good food. If the staff decided to turn up for work it would be good one guy on his own serving 20 tables is not a great look. Very expensive for what you get.

Had a great meal here last night with the family. Pizza bases were really good much better than other pizza restaurants. Catered well for gluten-free, the dough balls were really good. Service was quick and friendly, will eat here again soon :)

Visited on Sunday night. Only four tables taken up so really quiet. Very disappointed. This once loved chain has gone downhill. My pizza was dry and cold, no quality control. It was "chucked in the oven" to heat drying it out more and charring the fresh incredients which should be added after cooking. Kids portions were tiny, only suitable for toddler age, not older children. After paying £6.95 each I had to give them a £13 pizza to share so costly visit. I always choose a small pudding with coffee, but a slice of cake 1.5" square is really more like a micro pud. Not sure I'm going to visit this once loved chain again.

The food is always good but it's the friendliness of the staff and the quality of the service they give that makes this Pizza Express a must visit for us each time we visit the Island.

For the past 12 months on birthdays and special occasions we have as a family visited pizza express Newport and I would not change it for anything. The staff are lovely and the food is lovely and they make every visit special :)

Went to Pizza Express in Newport on a Saturday evening and was delighted with the service. Everyone working was in a great mood and happy to help. Our server Maria was fantastic with all of our questions and the service was quick and the food was delicious.

Certainly still up to standard for the chain. Our only complaint was that our hot food was served on cold plates. Staff did apologise sincerely and said it was now company policy, yes, for "Elf 'n Safety". Ridiculous. Claimed they had received many similar comments to ours. Hope Head Office has listened by the time we return.

My partner and I decided to visit on Sunday, for lunch, and only 2 other tables were taken up at the time - a party of four, and a party of two. Both were eating, when our order was taken, so there was no real wait on the food (so we thought). 10 minutes after we'd ordered (still no sign of the food being made in the open kitchen), a gentleman arrived with his two young daughters. They ordered there food, and then it arrived for them shortly afterwards. Just as I was about to ask if our food was going to be much longer (35 minutes after ordering), our food was then started.The problem with having an open kitchen, is that everybody can see what is going on, and when things are being made. Especially when it's a quiet afternoon.The gentleman and his two daughters are now finished, and the staff are clearing their table before our food arrives! JUST UNDER AN HOUR!! When I say just under, I mean literally only a couple of minutes under an hour, for 2 pizzas and 2 sides. That being said, the pizzas were just about average, and a little over cooked with one of them. By overcooked I mean it was like eating cured carbon.Nothing said about the wait, nothing said about the poor service..

We have just had pizza express, it was very nice. Food was as aspected and the price was good. I know its a big company but i still good food at a reasonable price

My partner and I went to the cinema on Saturday night. Upon leaving we decided to enjoy a pizza and a drink. Upon arrival we were greeted even though they had cleaned down and were resetting the restaurant for Sunday. Service was quick, efficient and friendly. Thanks.

I love Pizza Express but this branch is really badly run. Whenever we've been (the Isle of Wight is a holiday place so this will be mostly at weekends and summer) the huge restaurant had loads of free tables but we were told they couldn't give us one because either the kitchen was too busy, or the tables were all booked up or else. The manager on the last occasion was really unfriendly and made us feel very unwelcome. We were turned out on a ghastly blustery night just when it started bucketing down. Totally unsympathetic. Surely it shouldn't be too difficult to squeeze two people in at 6.30pm even on a Saturday if most of the tables are still unoccupied. A pizza can be served and eaten in half an hour! But maybe that is London, where they know how to do business, clearly here everything moves in slow motion and it takes ages to be served. They seem to be always unprepared for business and understaffed, especially at weekends.

This Pizza Express restaurant has a real 'can-do' attitude. We asked for two things that wasn't on the menu and they didn't bat an eyelid. It was really busy so service was a little slower than usual but not so bad as to detract from the dining experience.

I went this afternoon for a pizza and a natter with my Mum.I'm Coeliac so everything has to be gluten free.The menu states that pizzas can be made gluten free so I opted for the four cheese formaggio (forgive my spelling of that).This was the best gluten free pizza I've ever had in this country!!The only other good GF pizza I've had when eating out was almost 1000 miles away in Sardinia, so top marks for that!Sometimes GF food takes a little longer to be served but this didn't seem to take any longer than normal - that said was very quiet at the time.I had gelato afterwards which is listed as a GF option on the menu and it was bliss.Finished this off with a nice chilled Appletiser.Brilliant, thank you!

I have loved Pizza Express all my life! Only place I will order pizza from. It is always nice visiting a different restaurant and the Newport one is modern, spacious and comfortable. Good service too and 30% off voucher! Only one gripe, not against this branch but Pizza Express in general..... the American Hot is A Classic so please reinstate it in the Classic menu?

We have lunch with 2 friends in wheel chairs. There is plenty of space and the waitress always looks after us very well.

Food was good, air conditioning to strong which made it cold even in september would not be visiting in a hurry again

Ate here with a group of friends having booked a table. The restaurant was fairly busy but they didn't seem to have enough staff to wait on the tables. We eventually had our order taken by the very pleasant manageress who was apologetic about the wait. When our meals came - about an hour after we had arrived I have to say I really enjoyed mine - the Bosca Salad with warm chicken. It had some lovely ingredients including artichoke and was very tasty. We had 2 for 1 vouchers for mains so it only cost a tenner per person for food and drinks which was reasonable. Probably best to book to guarantee a table and maybe be prepared for a wait but food is very nice.

We are regular visitors here, whenever we are in Newport. Both my son and I have a gluten free diet - and we find the gluten free pizzas here are the best you can get!!! We love them! They now also offer gluten free dough balls. A couple of extra gluten free cakes wouldn't go a miss but overall we love coming here! Oh one thing .... It's always a bit cold - please make it a bit warmer so I can take my coat off!

Just walked in at 5.30 to an almost empty restaurant and requested a table for two to be told they were fully booked!! what sort of business turns away customers we are now sitting in Pizza Hut after getting a table with no problem and there are more people in here!!

This is not a special restaurant as it is much the same as any Pizza Express but it is okay for a trip with children or friends.

Good service. Varied menu. Salad options were excellent and there was a good range of wines available. The staff were very attentive, despite being polish, and it was a very pleasant experience.

Although there appeared to be a shortage of staff we were dealt with in a friendly efficient manner. I have eaten pizza's in italian restaurants both in this country and abroad(some were less than memorable) but pizza express always comes up with consistently good ones and their venues both here and on the mainland remains a firm favourite. Yes they do get busy probably due to the voucher offers and yes sometimes if they are very busy there may be a slight wait but its not a fast food restaurant as everything is freshly prepared so cannot see why people complain.Every Pizza Express should have a" James" as he is always smiling and helpful however busy they are also Artur and the men making the pizza's deserve a mention for making this such a successful venue as the number of people eating there (or trying to) shows!

We arrived at 5pm to not one person in the restaurant and were told that they were fully booked by a very, very rude waiter. although we found it hard to believe they were fully booked) seeing as not one other person in there) we accepted it and left. However, we walked past the restaurant an hour later with only a dozen tables occupied so why could we not have a table?
