Toto in Isle of Wight

It was fine, food was pretty good, pizzas especially nice. Service was very slow, but we were given free desserts as compensation which was a nice gesture. I would go back again.

Ate here using a TPIW voucher which turned out to be excellent value for money after seeing the prices. The food was absolutely amazing and the tiramisu espresso martini was the best cocktail I think I've ever had! Service was good and decor is cosy. Unfortunately the toilets are upstairs which could be a problem for a lot of people. It's quite small so there isn't a lot of room between tables. Definitely worth a visit and will definitely return!

The Chicken Milanese is rich and delicious, and the Fish Gratin is overflowing with milk, making the lasagna seem ordinary in comparison. The food overall is very good. The waiters don't disturb the meal too much. The restaurant has a very good environment and has two floors. I didn’t order garlic bread, but I smelled a very nice garlic butter smell when I left the store, so I might give it a try.

Lovely meal out with the family. So much better than a high street chain. 🤌🏼

Overpriced and very small portions

Superb! Lasagne and King Prawn Tagliatelle were both amazing. Staff were attentive and efficient. Definitely recommend.

The restaurant is quite small but the selection of food was very good. The food came out a little too quick to be honest but it was still very nice.

Always think of Toto as reliable good food but went there yesterday to find they have changed the Menu which is not a problem but the food was nowhere near the normal standard, a starter of rice balls had no seasoning and the pizza was nowhere near the previous standard. Very disappointing

If I had one word for this restaurant. Lazy. Absolutely no love in this food. It feels like a money spinner, using Trendy words like ' sourdough' to trick people into suggesting the place cares enough about food to pay attention to its quality. It's pizza guys, pizza.. not complex and I'm truly shocked about how a pizza can taste this bad. My calzone was undercooked and has given me a bad stomach, for starters. The base and edges were so thick and doughy also undercooked. The mushrooms inside raw. The ham was still in cubes of chopped clumps also raw. Barely any cheese and the cheese tasted very cheap. Then we top it off (literally) with the same sauce that's probably used for their pasta (so lazy) which again tasted cheap. This place might be ok for teenagers tourists and first dates but for food snobs like me I wouldn't recommend, for pizza go to Ristorante Michelangelo in Ryde because their pizza is the best in the island full of love and tradition but they are closed in January so I thought I'd try this place, I really really wanted to like this place as I live in Newport and as a business owner myself this review is intended to be constructive criticism which I really hope they take to heart and make this place a hotspot for pizza with it's ideal location. But they have a lot of work to do. Honestly guys take your chefs to Ristorante Michelangelo in Ryde and learn from them because you only have a small amount of time before you use up all the teenagers and tourists the island has to offer. There are not short cuts for good food.

Had pizza and calzone, we were not impressed as the quality is the same ordinary one you can fins at the others food chains like Dominos or Pizzahut for example. Service was very good.

Yea pretty good. Quite liked the food. Had to cancel an digestif cocktail because it took too long but in the whole a good experience, would probably return.

Been twice now, pizza nice both times, wife had gnocchi beef which was different and hearty. Good service. Only thing is the chairs are a little firm.

The food was pretty good and average priced, although garlic bread seems a bit expensive for what it is. Kids menu is big portions. Good portion size for the mains. Massive bowl of risotto. Calzone comes with sauce and side salad, which is great, and the cheesy top is a nice touch. Disappointed they don't do any kind of fried potatoes as a side. My pizza with aubergine didn't actually have any aubergine on it. The crust was a bit burnt and I would have liked cheese nearer to the edges. But the pizza dough is good and there were lots of olives on it. Pizza generally gets very boring about half way through. Or is too rich - the white base goat cheese pizza was lovely but I wouldn't want a whole pizza. It would be great to have the option of a smaller pizza with a non-bread side, to break it up. I'd like to see a few more vegetarian options on the menu. The menu isn't very clear. Parmesan cheese is not vegetarian. The staff could be a little more attentive, especially when it's quiet, but were friendly enough and helpful when asked.

Delicious food, good portions, lovely atmosphere and customer service. Not my first time visiting and never been disappointed. Will most certainly be coming back soon

Great staff with short wait times, always a lovely meal.

The food was very good. The side salads were super tasty and big. My only recommendation is to work on the waiting time for the food. They didn't seemed understaffed. Maybe it was a coincidence and they just had everyone ordering at the same time. I didn't mind the waiting that much while trying their cocktails,which by the way were strong.

It was quiet and we had a lovely varied meal and some good local beer.

Great place. Plenty of vegan options and the staff were really helpful. The calzone is huge and delicious. Also tried the pizza and the sun dried tomato pasta. Can’t wait to return.

They messed up our food and drinks orders but did give us a free shot at the end of the evening to make up for it. Were rather unattentive but when they were there they were lovely

It is a lovely place to eat. It feels authentic, and the staff is very friendly and kind. The food was delicious and well made. The portions were just right for an adult, and drinks were okay. The place is a little small, and felt a little packed when it got busier. For the two sharing starters, four mains, and a few drinks, we've paid a little over £100 - which worked out roughly £25/pp - so prices are fair too, in my opinion.

We ordered Toto through recommendation of a friend. We ordered the antipasto sharer, a spag bol and a calzone. Unfortunately we were left feeling a little disappointed. The antipasto seemed a little over priced for what was delivered. Especially with only 3 bits of bruschetta - considering this is advertised as a sharer. The mushrooms however were really tasty. Absolutely no complaints about the spag bol, it was absolutely delicious. However the calzone was cold in the middle and extremely burnt on the bottom and sides which we ate around. We are keen to try the other pasta dishes/risotto in the future as the spaghetti really was delicious.

The food at Toto is great. We popped in on Tuesday night before the cinema. Pleased we booked online as they were close to running out of tables. One weird thing was making a Pina Colada with a vegan cream substitute. Not a problem if that's your thing but this wasn't highlighted on the menu and it definitely wasn't as nice as a classic Pina Colada.

The food is ok and the service is good too. However, it was a bit overpriced for what it was.

What a fantastic Italian restaurant, the food it very tasty and great value with large portions. They also do some great vegan options and you can even have a calzone with vegan cheese. I would totally recommend booking ahead as its usually quite busy. If you visit Newport why not ring ahead and see if they have a spare table so you can treat yourself to some great Italian food. 🇮🇹 🍕 😋👍

Tried pesto and cream Gnocchi and Mushroom Truffle Risotto. Both were amazing in taste. Portion size is perfect for one adult if paired with a side such as garlic bread. Authentic Italian taste (surely it’s authentic Italian restaurant as they don’t have Alfredo on their menu 😛) Customisations are available for vegans and vegetarians. Waiting staff was courteous. The service was a tad slow owing to busy times and prices are about 20% higher compared to mainland. 5 star otherwise.

Great food, broad food and drinks menu, fast service, lovely atmosphere. Have been a couple of times now and can’t fault the place!

My son, who is something of a "pasta in tomato sauce" aficionado, reckoned this place served the best of its kind he'd ever tasted. If it was as good as the pasta I had, I'd have to agree.

We went on a Tuesday and couldn't get in as it was fully booked. So booked for the next night and weren't disappointed. Attentive, friendly staff. Great atmosphere and music. Starters were okay but the mains were superb. Biggest calzone I've ever had! Also nice to have an island beer as well. Glad we persevered.

Popped in for lunch - seafood linguine hubby had lasagne delicious - good service - that nice went back 2 days later for more

Delicious vegan pizza and if you're vegan or dairy free you know that it's hard to find! I actually tried a bite of my mum's dairy cheese pizza and preferred the vegan one! Thanks guys. Fast efficient service too :)

Decent pizza, not too expensive, nice place to sit

Géza Hofi had a joke that ended up saying: "can you swim? No. And if I pay you…” We went to an Italian restaurant in China after we could no longer tolerate the many bar food and tasteless food we ate during our stay in England, even though we really tried to eat in the best places. There is a tried and true Italian restaurant in Ryde but unfortunately it is closed on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. That is why the choice was made for the "Italian" restaurant, Toto, which looks traditional based on the description, photos and reviews. A little slow, but polite and kind service, simple and not at all Italian but acceptable interior, pleasant garden space on the church square. So apparently everything is fine. Carbonara is one of the simplest but trickiest Italian pastas, which is not only easy to mess up, but most places don't work with the original egg recipe in the first place, but with the cream version, which is a clear mockery of Italian cuisine... To our question, the waiter gave a clear and somewhat surprised answer as to how this dish is prepared. Of course, based on the original recipe. I think in the future you should also ask if the chef is Italian, or at least if he has been to Italy even once in his life :) The food was tasteless, poorly prepared, made with quality ingredients that did not match the recipe at all. Basically, we could only eat everything with a lot of salt, pepper and parmesan. I highly recommend it to anyone who doesn't know or doesn't like the flavors of Italian cuisine, and not to anyone else.

Booked a last minute table for 15. Staff were amazing. Be warned children portions are huge. The food felt very authentic.

Eaten here multiple times and always had a great meal with excellent service. Managed to squeeze us in without a reservation at short notice, despite the restaurant being very busy. Will be back without a doubt.

Just one word really...... 'Brilliant' From booking our table to settling the bill it was super. Nothing was too much trouble, even to dropping off a cake for my wife's birthday and on a thumbs up it was brought out to the table accompanied by staff singing. Just a big thankyou for the experience, top job one and all of you..... In the famous words.... 'I'll be back' 👍

Phenomenal staff and excellent food. Absolutely top notch all round.

Ordered the stuffed dough balls and absolutely loved them! But the tiramisu was not as good. Still I would overall rate the food 5 stars. Took my baby there and they did not have a changing station. That is the only thing I would say. 100 percent recommend!

Warm and welcoming with the best Italian food we’ve had for years

The pizza is good so far, but could have more flavor. The green salad had no salad dressing and was light. We were served very nicely.

Cocktails were delicious, and the starter of assorted meats, cheese, and olives was amazing. Main course was tasty and fresh however the pasta was overdone not al dente. Service was very attentive.

A proper definition of 'hidden gem'. Tucked away from the high Street this rustic little place offers brilliant pizzas and pastas. I had a fab pizza just crisp and bubbly, with delicious toppings. Service was friendly & helpful and laid back. Would love to visit again. Delicious cocktails too!

Excellent service, great music and very accommodating, child friendly

We have eaten at Toto a number of times and have been very happy with the food served and the friendiness of the staff. The restaurant has adapted to our "mixing and matching" of items from the menu leaving us very satisfied and wanting to go back for future visits. The background music is usually very much to my taste which adds to the overall experience, enjoy.

One day at noon, I passed by and then entered this restaurant by coincidence, and I didn't expect it to amaze me! The taste of black truffle cream pasta is so rich, every noodle is wrapped in fragrance, bringing me an unprecedented experience. The taste of handmade pizza is very traditional and full of aroma. As soon as you eat the grilled sea fish, you can find that it is very fresh, and the fish is elastic and sweet. The only downside is that I had to wait a long time (more than 30 minutes)for these delicacies even though there were no other customers in restaurant at the time. Overall, this is a restaurant with normal prices that will surprise you and you won't be disappointed if you come here. Surprisingly, I didn't see this restaurant recommended in any social media, however it deserves the accolades.

Lovely modern restaurant. We turned up on a Friday evening without booking and they sorted us out with a table. The staff were delightfully helpful and catered for all our requests. The food was delicious, well cooked and presented. Definitely a place to stop by again!

Our experience was one which we will never forget, however it's not for good reasons. After an arguement about the food (which had been taken upstairs to a different table, left there for a few minutes and then brought back down to us), we asked for new meals, but we're told in no uncertain terms that this would not be done. We left, with a member of staff not letting it go and still arguing with us as we walked out. Such a pity as the food looked amazing and the atmosphere was lovely.

A nice little Italian restaurant with a great selection of pizza and pasta dishes available. The food itself is really good and the pizzas were handmade. The topping choices are wide and has some to suit most tastes. The theme of the restaurant looks good and works well with the location and what is being served. The food is reasonably priced and well worth what you pay for. I would recommend it for an evening meal. They are a small place so booking is probably best as it is popular at busy times. The only downside is it took a while for the food to arrive (around 30-40 mins), not too big a deal as it’s a small place.

My favourite eating place on the Island. Great food, friendly staff and very reasonably priced. My 9 year old grandson says their pizza is the best in the world, and he's probably right. I have pretty well worked my way through the menu and there isn't a weak dish on it.

Lovely food and cocktaıls, but you have to do the waıter's job for hîm. Sometımes there's scummy other customers that smoke near theır baby, sometımes there's a lovely dog.

Walked in and was told unless booked you will have to sit outside. That's fine but once outside all tables were dirty. Waitress came over to give us menus and put them on the dirty table. Would have been nice to show us to a table outside and then clean it. Didn't feel valued. We still pay the same as people sitting inside.

Found us a table even though really busy. Great pizza. Friendly staff. Nice to sit out in the plaza like in Italy!

Really enjoyed 1st night in Isle of Wight with some drinks and food. We arrived a bit late but they let us have some dinner so I recommend 100%. Staff was very nice and if we go back to Isle of Wight we probably will go to Toto again.

Very good dough for pizza and dough balls, well made. Pasta dish was also excellent. Service a little slow for us but was not a major issue.

Served raw chicken (pictured), only realising after already eating half of my meal. The bar staff and chef were reasonably apologetic, but the man who I assumed to be the manager said not to worry (to the chef) and that 'these things happen'. Considering we waited an abnormally long period of time for main courses, and presumably the chef owns a temperature probe, I'm not sure exactly how this can happen. The table next to us also had issues with timings, with one man not receiving his food until after the rest of the table had already finished. Overall I found the lack of respect for food hygiene and lack of empathy from the manager quite shocking. I understand mistakes can happen but the overall response to the situation was far below what I deem to be acceptable service.

I had tagliatelle with chicken and tomato sauce. My boyfriend had spaghetti carbonara, which I recommend. For starter, we had the fried calamari, which had a great sauce with them. However, we only received one napkin for both of us and our outside table was not cleaned when we sat down.

Came across this little piece of heaven completely by accident whilst holidaying on the island. The place was empty, cannot understand why! Food was just wonderful. We had the calzone and was treated to a cheesecake dessert which was sherry trifle flavour which was so light, not heavy at all as a cheesecake can be. The music playing added to the atmosphere. The service was impeccable, such wonderful pleasant staff. This place is a must 🙌

Italian restaurant that runs out of Pizza dough on a Saturday night i.e., 1/3 of menu is unavailable. Service level mediocre, overall experience horrible.

My partner and I were on a day trip to the Isle of Wight and we decided on pizza at ToTo for lunch. Each pizza was about the size of a dinner plate and were absolutely filling. They were beautifully baked, fresh and piping hot and were reasonably priced. Also, staff were friendly and welcoming: we were sat at an outdoor table and one of the servers came out to give our dog a bowl of water. Overall my partner and I were sure glad to have popped in.

Absolutely Smashing Pizza! My brother has been wanting to eat here for a while so we thought we would give it a go. Why did we wait so long?! It was incredible, every mouthful was amazing, we couldn't fault it at all. You could tell that the dough was well made and only the freshest ingredients were used. I 100% will be returning and working my way through the rest of the menu. Knowing they do take away too I'll probably have a new regular takeout now too. Well done to the staff who were really friendly and polite too.

Very disappointing service, with no attentiveness whatsoever. The staff did not look like who actually want to serve anyone at all. Hygiene standards very low as the chef behind the kitchen none of them was wearing any hairnet or chef hat but nothing or a baseball cap. The manager I assume wearing sunglasses while serving it’s very disappointing. First time but definitely last time been here!

Lovely food but was waiting for a very long time. We arrived at 8:15 and our starters didn’t arrive until 8:55 then our mains didn’t come until 9:20

We had takeaway delivered to our place, the pizza was excellent but the salad a bit disappointing: 9£, very small and mostly leaves. I would suggest to avoid that, as it is a bit overpriced for what it is... Pizza is definitely your safest bet.

Amazing food and decent service!

If you're on the island and looking for the best sit-down Italian meal then look no further than Toto! This is the place to go for a cracking choice of pizza and pasta. The staff are very helpful and attentive. This is deffo the place to go for a Calzone!!!

Oh my God wow!! After looking through the old favourites on Uber eats I went out on a limb and tried somthing new... So toto arrived.. two tagliatelles and a carbonara. The food was hot and smelt amazing but not in a million years did I expect the food to taste that good! Absolutely gorgeous! Well cooked generous portions and perfectly balanced. I can honestly say I've never had Italian as good as this! I will certainly be ordering again..

Rudest and most unprofessional manager I have ever come across. Despite going in twice and ringing 3 times staff did not pass on our seating numbers. The Manager blamed me, telling me that I am losing him money. He complained that whilst away his staff had booked too many tables. That really is not my fault and he should not be taking his stresses out on customers. They could not get our meals right and he also argued about that. There was no cheese in my pasta that was listed as cheese. One person that ordered gluten free, received food with gluten in it and one person that ordered vegan received dairy cheese. It was a complete shambles and his response was just to get angry and be very rude. And as usual nothing to dry your hands on in the toilets. And how do they get away with no downstairs toilet facilities for people in wheelchairs..
