Be careful everyone. After going toThe Slipway for a Sunday lunch treat (spending over £50) We have received a parking fine for £100! We could not find the terminal to enter our car reg. It's not signposted nor is it in the reception as stated on the fine document. None of the staff made us aware it was at the bar. We were told it was behind the bar when we went to check after receiving the fine. So it's not on view, not in the reception area and not really accessible to customers. Absolutely disgraceful behaviour to screw money out of people who are already giving the pub their money

My mate Dan was singing there last sunday. Most enjoyable, Dont drink alcohol, Lemo/ blackcurrant. Staff and folk in there were lovely and polite.10/10 nice views ducks and canal, great for the kids too as swings & bouncy castle for them

Just called in for drinks after walk along canal towpath

It's a work in progress with refurbishments ongoing. But a terribly poured pint of Guinness can be less easily accepted. It's okay, and I imagine it's really pleasant outside in the sunshine, but there are nicer bars a short walk away in either direction.

Go to slipway on a regular basis but a little bit stunned today to be told my pint of John smiths had gone from 3.40 to 4.50 in the space of one week they also have a 2 tier price list for regular customers and strangers

With roast potatoes, tender stem broccoli, carrots and swede, red cabbage, sage and onion stuffing ball, pig in blanket, Yorkshire pudding and a delicious gravy. It was beautiful and the plate was clean at the end. My backpartner had Belly pork. The staff were lovely and friendly. The sun was shining. A great Sunday lunch. Well worth a visit. We will definitely be coming back .

Great place to sit beside the canal

As our local pub, we love coming to the slipway. It's kid friendly with a bouncy castle and playground in the beer garden and there's also an ice cream station for those warmer days. The service is always quick and friendly and they have a wide range of beers on tap. The canal side location makes this the perfect venue for a date, a quick drink with friends or family or even a nice place to stop when doing a solo canal walk. The food is always really good and is really well priced to boot. Of a weekend they often have live music which brings a really great atmosphere.

A lovely place heaps of atmosphere. Staff absolutely lovely so obliging. Enjoyed the boat trip as wel!!!! A truly amazing day out. Lovely venue. Considering the amount of people visiting.

We’ve not been here for a while but will definitely be back in the near future. We had a lovely lunch here midweek. Staff friendly and helpful. Food was excellent and very good value. This place has a lovely buzz- can’t wait to go back.

Used to love this place, recommended to lots of friends as a place to visit, but not any longer. !! It was pretty quiet as was a Wednesday evening so ordered for for 2 adults and 2 children , nothing complicated, bought drinks and waited for our food, we noticed that others who had arrived after us had been served their meals and realised that we had been waiting for over 40 minutes ! Went into the bar and asked if they knew where our meals were as we had been waiting so long. The guy checked with the kitchen and said our meals were on the way out Yeah right, another10/15 minutes and still no food so I returned to the bar and asked to cancel and refund as we were going elsewhere , the refund took nearly as long as the food that didn’t arrive , the manager” having to authorise it on the till She was v angry and accused me of abusing her staff, she then said we were making fake complaints about the place and that we weren’t welcome there anymore, well that’s fine by me , saves me the trouble of saying I would never there again. Last seen the manager was following me hurling abuse, and in front of two children as well .! There lots of really nice places to eat and drink along the canal , had delicious meal elsewhere , suggest everyone else dies the same

A lovely view on the Canal! We cycled by and stopped for a drink. The weather is very nice today, hence sitting outside was very nice.

Food was OK for a pub snack.nothing amazing.. had to pay 10 pound to park as 4 or.5 signs to say £100. Then a tiny sign saying patron enter reg bit it was outside the carpark and overgrown with a hedge

My mum (70) took my elderly father for a meal at The Slipway a few weeks ago. The car park is managed by Parking Eye and she was aware that she had to enter her registration number inside the pub in order to park there, as they've been there before. She attempted to do this, with assistance from the staff there, but must have got the registration wrong, mistyped or pressed the wrong button. Anyway. After spending over £60 on a meal for them both, she has received a parking fine for not entering her registration number. I've attempted to appeal on her behalf but they're not relenting. So, maybe consider that when choosing where to spend your hard earned cash. A typing error by a pensioner who isn't tech-savvy but was a genuine patron has cost them dearly.

Only had a coffee good service and a good price

First visit and a very warm welcome. Ordered the sea bass and it did not disappoint, compliments to the chef for the delicious sauce! We will be back.

We have visited the Slipway a couple of times & have found each time an enjoyable experience. The service was friendly & and attentive. we both had the Gourmet beef & pork burgers, which we found really tasty. The view of the canal and wandering ducklings was adorable & will definitely be returning again.

Came for Sunday lunch today, table not cleaned before seating, no menus or cutlery laid down, had to go and get our own from the bar area, food was a very poor standard , 2 roast dinners were left partially uneaten because of poor quality, mixed grill was below par , kids meals were disgusting and cold upon arrival, would not recommend those place to anyone

Absolutely first class. Can not do enough for you and food is amazing. Very child and dog friendly too and the ducks will eat out of your hands here too Mick and the team do an amazing job.

Enjoyed the drinks and atmosphere

Visited today with the dogs whilst out cycling, 2 mains for £15. We both had fish and chips with 2 teas and a cold drink and it came to £20!!! The chips were home made, fish was lovely and the tartare sauce tasty. Amazing value for money in a great setting. We will repeat as often as we can, we've drove past often and can see now why it's always popular.

Full of cyclists outside, some riding around aimlessly in circles which wasn't very nice for other patrons. Young boy magnet fishing in the canal (not allowed by CaRT) which was annoying, hearing it being cast and plopped into the canal. Staff not sure how to make a shandy and had to ask! 😂 The food was ok. I'll probably not visit again.

Lovely canal location, shabby inside

We had a lovely time here, nice walk up the canal to the slipway, great play area for the kids to play while you clench your thirst, pizzas are enjoyed by all.

Food we had a sandwich really nice.

Working on a boat moored nearby and broke for lunch. New menu launched and the hoisin duck bait buns caught my eye. Delicious. Mike the chef took the time to ask my opinion and was very friendly. Highly recommend. Thanks from Marc.

We only met here to board a barge trip that was fantastic, the pub was being refurbished so it's difficult to form an opinion. Staff all seemed friendly, I'm sure it will be great when the work is completed.

Fabulous pub in a great position by the canal. Lovely food , really well prepared and flavoursome , great friendly service.

A favourite place of my parents and somewhere we have started calling in for a weekend lunch too. Clean and not too big place, still feels like it's finding it's feet but don't let that put you off the staff are friendly and want to do well, and the fish finger butty today.. sublime!

We stop here often on our canal walks for drinks. I like the pub and the location. I try my best not to use the bathroom though as they are never clean. Today again, disgusting. I’m not blaming the restaurant per se, the public that leave them in that state should be embarrassed, but it is every time we visit.

I had booked a table for four for 1st March 2024 and upon arrival, no one was there to greet us, no tables were set up nor heating on. Eventually a woman did came to us to say they weren’t doing food as their oven had blown up and we should have been contacted to advise us. No one had been in touch which was most annoying as it was an awful day weather wise to have turned out, to find our reservation dishonoured. Needless to say, we won’t hurry back!

Lovely all day breakfast & sunday lunch. Staff also very lovely and welcoming. My daughter loved their dog jazzy - (I think that was her name) we will definitely be back in the summer to enjoy the outdoor space.Thanks for a really nice meal

Visited for winter pride. Staff were lovely and welcoming to our party 🏳️‍🌈 Ate here twice over the weekend, had the beef stroganoff, which was superb. Enjoyed a Sunday roast, which was sumptuous! Venue is lovely with the lights inside ✨️ and great view of the canal. Stayed overnight in the van just put yr reg in on arrival. Perfect, thank you 😊

Friendly and happy staff, fantastic excellent value food,twinkly relaxing lights. Lovely and warm. Beautiful location near the canal.Dogs are very welcome. There even a lovely secure play area outside and garden benches. What more could you want.The xmas dinner was also amazing

Was recommended this from a friend but there must've been a change of personnel because her recommendation is far flung from what I experienced here. Picture a load of coughing kids running around the restaurant, football blaring on the TV whilst the 4 bar staff lounge around on the phones also coughing, the only positive was that the pint the girls pulled was decent. The chef was wandering around wiping his hands on his apron and then touching furniture and other surfaces, the place just looked depressing and there was only 4 patrons inside, on a Saturday! Don't bother coming here, this was rough.

We had a gorgeous meal last night for my birthday with the family. The food was delicious and the service was excellent and very friendly. Its great that the Slipway is dog friendly too and we were certainly made very welcome. I would highly recommend any of the dishes as we all had something different. We hope to see you again soon. We were the first people into the pub and still managed to wait nearly an hour for our food. An when we got it the food was cold.

I have been there twice the first time it was the chef's day off and the second time which was last week we got there a few minutes after 6.30 to be told they had stopped serving food at 6.30 because they had been busy all day and would not accomodate us.

What an amazing find . Came today 10/08/23 with daughter and our 3 grandchildren all ate and delicious food. They have an amazing beer garden/children's play centre IE... bouncy castle wooden adventure frame sand pit and pool table obvs for older children (pool table) all set on canal. Extensive lager beer and cider on draught. What made it for me was my mini massage and ice cold Corona on draught. BIG SURPRISE was 2 amazing holiday let's with hot tub and BBQ provided Keeley owner of these properties showede round absolutely immaculate. Can't wait to book. Keeley make sure your brother there to give me a longer massage 🤣 see you soon . Sorry all bar staff attentive

Asked for an old mout cider. They gave me one. Not the flavour I wanted - but it was old mout. They just gave me a random flavour. Weird.

Me my husband and daughter had drinks on Friday evening while we were waiting for our Tapas cruise,It was the first time we had been in the pub,we will certainly call in again for a meal and drinks when we are back in the area in a few weeks time

Went the Slipway with family and friends for my husbands birthday tea which was fantastic. All the staff on that night couldn't have done enough for us, they were fabulous and made it a really great occasion. Special mention to the chef who produced 18 meals which everyone enjoyed. The younger ones in the group loved the play area and ice creams in different flavours.

We were there for a canal boat trip with high tea. Had a lovely time. The weather was lovely and the high tea was excellent.

Long wait for service as no one behind bar serving. Waited a good 5 min for someone to appear. Good selection of drinks. Nice seating areas and play area outside.

Great venue and lots of TVs for sport. Pool table. Parking is a pain though. Unsure why they need parking eye cameras.

Good priced, decent,pub grub.. just like it used to be before all this gastro/bistro nonsense.. Staff are great down to earth normal people.. breath of fresh air in today's society! Ps.. if you want pomp, overpriced average food at over priced prices, take a 10 minute walk further down the canal to the farmers..

Beware of the waste ground parking area . We parked paid the fee by phone and got a highly intimidating letter a week from Parkingeye demanding a £100 fine. The website, phone number and email could not be accessed only the payment section .

As a local I am desperate for this pub to succeed however it’s fate is sealed unless it makes up its mind on its identity. It is in a wonderful rural canal side location but is trying to be an urban sports bar with huge tv’s and fruit machine, I have visited numerous times usually on a weekend and it is understandably quiet, where are these people it hopes to attract in this rural location? We decided to give it another go today just in case it had improved…. On asking what cask ale was on the bar staff said we have two but did not know the names of them as the pumps were not labelled? both ales were clearly off and looked awful when poured so I politely declined and requested a Guinness as a last resort. I assume the previous pint had some blackcurrant in as the head of my pint had a reddish tint. Not wanting to sit amongst the 3 huge tv’s we sat outside, decided not to drink the Guinness or try the food for obvious reasons as cleanliness did not seem to be a priority that day despite how quiet it was, Not sure we will try again which is sad.

We went for the Sunday Roast after seeing it on FB, and it didn't disappoint. Well worth the money, and drive to it.

Lovely atmosphere, beautiful scenery of the canal, didn't eat here. Have San Miguel on draught 😃, good variety of beers/lagers. Can put car registration on computer and leave car overnight, great idea. Only drawback was no working lock on ladies toilet door, and my legs aren't long enough to hold it closed, lol, but singing or talking works 😃👍

Sat in the sun by the canal -nice and quite -broken only the quack of ducks sailing past ! Food was fresh and very good . Will be back soon and it's easy to recommend here ! Neither food nor drinks are that expensive and the staff are very friendly.

Turned up at 6pm for food on a Tuesday evening. The whole pub was empty and the chef had been sent home. By contrast the other pubs in the area were so busy we couldn't get a booking. It's a nice setting next to the canal.

Parked up and then entered car registration at the bar for free parking very easy. Drink and food very reasonable price. Food was good in fact chicken and bacon wrap we could have shared. Very pleasant staff. We then went for a walk along the canal. Asked by another couple about the food and recommended it to them.

Changed owners time after time.. latest reincarnation looks good. Food competitively priced and a good choice. Pleasant canal side location. Also does day boat trips. Only drawback is the car park.... its big yet they want you to pay if you are not a pub customer. Killed our morning walk followed by lunch as the pub wasn't open. We don't all have smart phones !!!!!

A Delightful canal side tavern, we were just there for drinks, as awaiting our Lancashire Canal Cruise ' Hot Pot Cruise ' . Pleasant sitting out on the new tables by the canal. The food looked very good, The pub provides the food for the canal cruises, the Hot Pot was delicious. We want to return for the Sunday Lunch !!!

I ordered one of the most expensive items on the menu: mixed grill. I asked for the steak to be cooked medium-rare. After a 45 minutes wait all I got was a small piece of steak, a small piece of pork, one tiny sausage and some chicken, two small union rings and a few chips. No mushrooms, tomatoes, salad or vegetables. Apart from the chips all was very overcooked and only luke warm. Very dissapointing!

Came here for a barge trip with afternoon tea. Very friendly staff and great service. The barge trip was very nice and interesting and our host was really friendly and informative. Would definitely recommend.

Very pleasant and lovely atmosphere; Children's play area is ideal. Safe and enclosed for those with younger children. Seating areas of all choices from next to the canal too the back garden and also inside and upstairs for food eating. Staff are very welcoming; Agnus made it that very more special. Also canal barges too book at this property. 100% recommend to visit.

Called for drinks, it was a lovely day and the sun was shining so we sat outside. The drinks were served in reasonable time and they had some cocktails on tap. I tried the espresso martini and a passion fruit cocktail, both were very pleasant and served in a nice glass.

On a walk along the canal, i called in for a pint (£4.20) The cost put me off staying for food.

Probably had my best Sunday lunch ever from a pub, roast lamb dinner with roasties, parsnip, carrot, peas, leeks, cabbage, red cabbage, stuffing, pig in blanket and a large Yorkshire pudding everything cooked to perfection on a busy Easter Sunday. Then back to the camper van in the car park for the night to recovery. Well done to all the staff

Wendy was taught to do the line clean for a Guinness from her father & leaves the line til all the yeast is removed, when this Guinness is pulled for you you will see a pint pulled as it should be. Top Guinness in here!

The biggest plate of Sunday roast I've ever seen, followed up with an amazing crumble. Service was fast and friendly. My only complaint is the strong smell of fuel inside, but it is right next to a canal so maybe this just came from fuelling the boats.

What a fantastic pub...Great location, family and dog friendly...brilliant helpful staff...the food was outstanding 👌, we had the Sunday roast beef and it was one of the best I've ever had, great price too £12.95... Will definitely be back...Great walking along the canal to build up an appetite.

Excellent food really good price

Lovely friendly proper local traditional community pub. Good food and all priced competitively. Has couple of TV screens showing sport, but you can sit away from these if not interested. As long as you are having food and drinks they are happy for motorhomes to stay overnight - assuming space. Parking is next to the waterway and free by entering your reg at the bar. Thank you for food, drink, free stopover and plenty of dogs to say hello to.

Called in with my daughter never having been before. It looks like the pub is being refurbished. Found it strange that no signage on actual pub advising its name. We only had a drink and was informed some of the draught beer was not available. I think this would be a better place to visit in the summer sitting outside by the canal
