Royal Oak in West Lancashire

Wow! .Chicken tenders are Amazing.. absolutely gorgeous!! Friendly place, staff lovely,..can't wait to go back for more.

Sadly we had bereavement in the family and as our Aunty lived in this area we wanted a little get together after the service that was local for friends and family to gather and reminisce. The Royal Oak was just down the road so we asked inside about us gathering there and spoke to a lovely lady called Jen. She was wonderful; she helped with the catering, undertaking it all on and taking care of special dietary needs, as in we required Gluten Free as well as vegetarian food. The food was perfect on the day, as was the bar staff, as was the atmosphere and indeed as were even the local clientele while we all gathered. We could not honestly recommend The Royal Oak enough. We are so pleased with everything; we are planning to return there just to have lunch sometime.

I know it was a mid week night and very quiet but me and a lot of my mates used to be regular customers here. Very surprised when I asked for a pint at 10.40pm to be told we’re shut now. I said I never heard last orders reply was … I never said last orders!

Feels like we have found a hidden gem! Stumbled across this lovely pub by chance and everything was great. The food was really lovely and the staff were great. The atmosphere was spot on and everything was very clean!! The beer garden in the back is as nice as you will find anywhere. Honestly it's the best pub we have found in years and over the moon that its only a 10 minute drive from us. You will ne seeing alot of us over the summer. Thankyou for a lovely evening

Visited at 12.30. Staff were not sure if food was being served. Eventually we both chose tempura prawns but only one portion arrived. Second plate arrived shortly & they were very good but the system is a bit disjointed .

Wow just had a cracking Sunday lunch at the Oak which is back to its best. Had the short rib roast beef dinner ( see photo) and steak and ale pie (pie made fresh ) both meals were superb. Really good and attentive staff and have to admit better than the Stanley these days (less expensive too) m. Well done to the oak and good to have you back.

After a change in management this beautiful little local pub is finally getting the love it deserves. The new food menu is delicious and affordable, I especially love the seasonal pumpkin soup! I can't express how lovely the staffing team are they really show care towards new and old customers. Definitely worth revisiting!

This is just my opinion... its a click pub , totally devoid of atmosphere. Ironically a few years ago it was great , then it shut down , has since reopened, but it's never the same is it ? It's a shame really.

Too long a wait to order, too long to receive food. When food arrived it was excellent. From sitting down till food arrival almost 45 mins. Although, to be fair, it was a busy "opening" day.

Couple of beers and something nice to eat, perfect. Covid aware too

Visited the Royal Oak today. Place was empty but garden at the back was busy. Ordered 2 lamb roast dinners. Hot food no Mint sauce so it wasn't the same. Chocolate fudge cake arrives with chocolate ice cream asked for vanilla didnt have any so chose strawberry. Desserts came back with dish still full of chocolate ice cream .3 time lucky . Wont be visiting there again staff not good at customer service

Absolutely disgusting, ordered food for outside, sat there for 45 minutes before my husband went in to see where our food was and overhead the chef saying "I haven't even seen the ticket yet be about 10 or 15 minutes, we decided to leave it, the pub wasn't even busy at this point really poor, surely who ever took the food order must have noticed we hadn't had our food, this place was recommended to us we certainly won't be recommending to anyone.

Visited today for the second time in the last month, my husband was a regular 20 years ago and now wonders why it has taken him so long to visit again. Although the interior is different and the management has changed, in fact one of the bar staff is still there after all this time, it has lost none of it's charm

Ok but not warm enough as door kept open. Food steak was all fat worse one I have had there. Been before may not come again with my birthday friends.

This pub is on the main road so handy to pop in and enjoy a good pint and the meals are reasonably priced Staff can't help you enough Plenty of parking space always take the family or relatives and they love its cosy

Beautiful meals in a friendly and welcoming environment. We had cod and chips and salt and pepper chicken cod was amazing. Salt and pepper chicken great. The chips are homemade and amazing. Staff are lovely and really helpful.

Great local pub with friendly staff, a good selection of drinks and home made food. I honestly believe you will not get a better Sunday roast dinner for the price anywhere. Also does great deals during the week on their normal menu.

Wow what a difference a new chef can make !!! Food is amazing . Fresh burgers homemade onion ring and lovely fresh homemade chips not a bit greasy . We hadn't had food for abit because of previous chef . But cannot recommend enough in fact I already have !!! Amazing service from June and the other lady can't remember her name (I'm bad ) lovely makeup and nails ha . We will definitely be back more for food now .

I often meet friends at Royal Oak for lunch and so my husband and I decided we would go for our evening meal. We weren’t disappointed. The staff are really friendly and happy to help when I asked for a slimming world friendly meal. Portions were plentiful and the meals were delicious. Will definitely be returning.

Fantastic day in the oak on a wonderful summers day. All the bar staff fantastic and constantly serving with a smile on their face, although it being busy. Also the waitress was very welcoming and provided. Great service with a beautiful smile!!

We visited the Royal Oak in Aughton last Friday on our regular “Fishy Friday” outing! We were first in the pub at lunchtime and were treated with a very warm welcome. We had our choice of seat and were quickly seated and served drinks.

Visited this establishment for the first time and really enjoyed it. It had a very welcoming atmosphere, especially from the bartender Meg. She was super helpful and always served with a smile and a bit of sass on the side. Her music choices are questionable though (she turned over from 00s dance floor fillers!). Becky the other bartender was very chatty and made me feel at home. And then there was Dennis who was always having a laugh with everyone.

We have been going to this pub on and off for a few years because the food was decent and there was a garden where the kids could play football. Unfortunately, although the staff were great and the food OK, the general atmosphere of the pub seems to have gone downhill recently. This is especially true of the outside area where there was smashed glass strewn about and litter everywhere. However, the main problem was a very laddish atmosphere that was not suitable for families. This was best exemplified by the fact that one of the middle-aged men loudly drinking in the garden decided to relieve himself twice not far from the playing kids and then turned round and, at length, shook his penis in full view of the families and children. I understand that some pubs are not always the best place for kids and, sometimes, boys will be boys but exposing yourself in front of children was a step too far and I will not be returning to the Royal Oak anytime soon.

Just got back from a family meal at The Royal Oak, there was 13 of us and I honestly can’t fault the anything. The food was excellent and we all had a mixture of food ranging from the 2 course Sunday lunch to hunters chicken. The service was fantastic, our lovely waitress Becky was fabulous, really friendly and nothing was a trouble. All the staff were friendly and very helpful. Looking forward to going back.

Went yesterday as a party of 11 to celebrate our Ruby Wedding Anniversary having tried several local pubs and restaurants over the past few months. So glad we chose The Royal Oak. From the minute we arrived to when we left a couple of hours later the service was excellent and the young girls serving were polite and cheerful. The Roast Dinners are excellent value 2 courses for under £10 and the food was lovely. We would certainly recommend The Royal Oak.

Comfortable lounge, very friendly, helpful staff. Interesting mix of food; nice presentation and tasty. Bring a friend, or healthy appetite, if you opt for the sticky toffee pudding.

After eating and drinking in my local pub for some twenty five years I am sorry to say how it has deteriorated over the last few months with young adults swearing to extremes and talking drugs inside and outside the pub it now is not the place for decent folk . With absents of the owners and bad management this contributes to the pub going to wrack and ruin

Wow! Well worth a visit if you're in the area. Wheelchair access, warm welcome from the friendly, helpful staff and excellent food and beers. What more could you ask for?

Nice place but slow service and they over face you with roast dinners

The focus here is on eating. I just wanted a drink. The choice of real ales was very limited (2) and both tasted stale and flat. They were well known brews but not properly kept and/or with insufficient turnover. Very disappointing
