Stopped for lunch... delicious! Lots to choose on menu. Light bites ..to full meals. We had tapas .3each ! And shared!

Food choices amazing. Really tasty and well worth a visit. Good portion sizes and reasonably priced. Venue clean and I loved the decor. Friendly staff and attentive. Service exceptional.

Staff very friendly and helpful. Taken to our seats straightaway. I had gammon, which was nice and thick but could have done with a few more chips. However my wife had the beef curry which was underwhelming, mostly vegetables with very little meat.

Unfortunately, on the 20th of January, my dad unexpectedly and suddenly passed away. We decided to have his wake at the cricketers in the upstairs room on the 11th of February. As you can imagine, whenever planning a funeral you want everything exactly right and are quite specific in what you want to make sure everything is perfect as it feels the last thing you can do for your loved one (it doesn’t help im like this in nature too nevermind planning a funeral🥲). When I say there was NOTHING too big or small that the cricketers weren’t accommodating for. They let me come in, help place things were I needed, let me bring in balloons to sign, pictures, signs, even the cordial my dad liked, how the tables were set, everything. Corresponded with me quickly on everything, it was genuinely the easiest part of the day we planned. We had around roughly 25/30 people upstairs with room so it didn’t feel cramp at all. The buffet we had was amazing value for what you got, it fed everyone and room for seconds or thirds🤣. Which again was so reassuring as how expensive a funeral can be, it was so reasonably priced and well worth the money. EVERY single person commented on the food too, and they accommodated for the gluten free and vegan guests also. On top of everything - the staff at the cricketers were incredible, and so so compassionate during this genuinely heartbreaking time for my family. I want to say a special thank you to Dave the owner and Will the manager for absolutely everything they did. How much they check in too before it and during the day. A thanks to James too as he wasn’t working the actual day but was so lovely in when I came in to plan and explaining everything I wanted. In his own words he went “we want to make sure everything is perfect so do not worry” - and that was what it was, a perfect part of the day for the perfect man, with no worries. It really is the perfect venue for an intimate event. I also want to say thank you on behalf of my dad, I know how much he would have appreciated all of it and how much you have looked after our family. We’ve come in on many occasions and my dads left reviews before raving about this place - so it only felt right in true Dave Egan style to leave this one for you. Thank you so much🤍

I enjoyed a fantastic meal and some great hospitality at The Cricketers on Saturday evening. Despite arriving just before the close of service, the staff were very accommodating in finding me a table where I had a delicious main of salmon and seafood gnocchi. After dinner I enjoyed a pleasant chat with the owner, who’s clearly very passionate about his food and drink and the local area. I look forward to visiting again.

Me and my family came across the cricketers and recently nipped in prior to check it out and loved the cosy vibes so checked out the menu for our Boxing Day meal and pre booked / did the deposit , I had been in contact with Dave also who was very helpful and showed me what the dishes would look like (I just wish I got the experience it all which I explain below) When arriving on the day was seated (twice as first on the wrong table but the staff seemed like they’d had a busy day already as we dined at 3) we had wanted the snug but in the conservatory instead but was brighter and worked out better The tables and restaurant was decorated all festive but when coming to dining we encountered an issue when asked what we wanted from the menu but had already ordered however re did the order only to be told one of the dishes was unavailable and not notified prior which was a shock The main issue was it was the vegan dessert and only one option available so considering we planned the 3 courses came up short they did offer an alternative but the option wasn’t preference so decided to leave the whole tables final course and just had 2 When the food arrived was nicely presented but Cold and Luke warm which we understood was probably due to the amount of t of diners so not sure how long the food had waited but did effect the enjoyment and eating experience We had a long yet relaxing time but left feeling a little underwhelmed after the build up to the day sort of an ant climax and think it could of been better organised as our deposit also hadn’t been knocked off the bill so had to notify our server who apologised Despite this me and my family would like to re visit and try again from their usual menu ( hopefully can get the dessert originally planned too ) and give a second chance Dishes tried l : Tomato and pepper soup Beef Bourguignon Mushroom arancini Hake Aubergine Borani Nut roast

We are regular customers at the Cricketers both at lunchtimes and teatime and we always go for a Christmas meal with relatives however we went tonight and it was horrendous the food was great but there was a party of 21 and the noise from them was terrible we cudnt hear each other talking we explained this to the waiter who might be the one who was in charge for the night and he just shrugged his shoulders and replied it's Christmas I explained that we appreciated that and we wasn't against people having a good time however should he not consider his other diners and just ask them to consider others and try and keep the noise down he just didn't want to know after that he wouldnt even come to.our table he sent two other waitress to serve us obviously they were more important because it was more money for them on the night however they should realise that this was a Christmas do and they might never return we would have returned however they have lost regular custom it would also help if they always had a restaurant Manager available instead of young staff who don't know how to give good customer service and apreciate the loyalty we have given them we won't be returning they have lost our custom

A large group of us were there for a Christmas meal so the staff & food were adequate for the occasion.

This place is lovely and cosy, it's lovely and clean too. Staff couldn't do enough either. We had a lovely festive menu it was absolutely delicious. Spot on!!

Service was excellent and the food was delicious and well presented. The only criticism would be the dessert menu, which was a little limited. Chocolate brownie, sticky toffee pudding, ice cream, meringue, and something called "banana and chocolate bread" it would be nice if they included one or more of the more traditional desserts, such as apple pie, rhubarb crumble, rice pudding, manchester tart, etc.

Very poor service. Had to wait for over half an hour before taken our order. Ask for the desert menu. Never even got desert waiting that long for order to taken. Chicken and Gammon pie had more carrot and potatoe than meat

Nice enough place, clean and well laid out tables. The staff were attentive and friendly. The Sunday menu was a good mix of standard pub fare. Portion sizes were just right, and there were a number of dessert choices. Beer selection was quite limited, but this is mainly a restaurant. There is parking available, but not much.

The food was very very good. Everything was cooked amazing and came out fairly quickly. Another couple of staff on the bar would have been good as they were busy but I understand staffing issues.

Absolutely love the Cricketers, never had a bad meal. Have just returned from having Sunday lunch with family from down South and they were really impressed and said it was the nicest pub Sunday lunch they have had. Also, plenty of other choices on the menu if you don't want a roast.

Nice pub Ashame it's not dog friendly .

We haven't been for a while which is a pity as we have missed an opportunity for a really good meal out.The service was excellent very professional attentive but friendly too.The food was equally good and as a Veggie I was delighted to have some imaginative choices.The food well cooked and tasty with some nice twists.It won't be long before we are back for more!

Was looking for a nice place for food and drove passed this place many times and never gave it a second thought, then decided to give it a go. This is now our go to place to reset after our busy work week, sat at the bar spoke to owner like old friends The staff are so polite even on the phone and the food along with service is amazing, prices are unbeatable honestly give it a try you wont be disappointed Thanks for the amazing service sorry to hear Adam is leaving ( going to Preston good luck with the new house ) and also Rachel leaving going travelling ( good luck and enjoy )Rich & Michelle x x x

A Tripadvisor Member 2 Reviewed 4 days ago Overpriced My wife and I went along on the 6th August for a meal. The place was quite busy. The car park is very small we had problems finding anywhere to park. I had the Rib eye steak that was quite grizzly. It cost over £28.00 for this but it was no better than anywhere else. I left a chunk of the meat on the plate with some bits that I had chewed but could not eat. We went to celebrate our son's graduation. The food was outstanding and the service excellent. Adam, who served us was attentive and really helpful. I highly recommend.

Absolutely ridiculous price's for fries, of which 1/4 was bit's and burnt £4.50,sausage and mash 1 blob of mash 2 sausage and the cheek to charge so much,goulash was veg in tomatoes, all frozen, ppl you have to much money or very easily plzd...

First time back here in a few years and WOW so glad we did .food was just amazing. Staff couldn't do enough for us with having a small child with us .such a lovely relaxing meal and the place has been done up and looks amazing. And for the price very fair especially for the portion sizes and quality. Our new favourite place to go .we'll done to dave and the team definitely 5 stars all round ✨️

It was our second time visiting within a few weeks and that should say a lot! The food was fantastic (I can't recommend the chipolatas, salt 'n' pepper new potatoes & local breads with oil & balsamic vinegar on the tapas menu enough)!!! I had the Cricketers 8oz beef burger on both occasions we've been because it's so fresh, juicy and tasty it's unreal and to be honest my girlfriend had the "ultimate steak sandwich" both times too for the exact same reason, we'll be trying all the other food though because it all looks & sounds amazing. The staff are all super friendly, great atmosphere in both the bar & conservatory areas which means this place is 100% on our revisit list

Great pub serving bloody fantastic food. The bar staff are great at recommending beers to a non-local. Everything we ate was prepared really well and can tell a lot of thought and time goes into the menu and execution of the dishes. We’ll be back on the next visit to the UK 🔥

Been a few times now, seem to get the same FOH guy who's so attentive in surprised he doesn't go dizzy! Food very nice, on a par with (I think) the older country style pub by a canal, the ship at Lathom. Best way to describe the menu is pub grub but most dishes with a twist of some kind and you can tell its home made not bought in generic chain fayre (no pun intended because it's much nicer than a chain I can think of that has comparable pricing).

We booked The Cricketers following a recommendation for my sons 18th Birthday family meal. There were 21 of us varying in age. EVERYTHING was fantastic!! The service was faultless from the minute we walked in to the minute we left. Izzy did a fantastic job of looking after us all. The service was quick and efficient and nothing was too much trouble she was a little gem!! The food was lovely, fresh and delicious not one bad comment. The lads on the bar were equally as good in looking after us - the service was quick and a lovely pint of San Miguel! Overall a lovely evening, beautiful food and amazing staff who made it extra special Thank You All will defo recommend

What a disappointing meal to say the least. Been going here for years and food has always been amazing. My wife and her friend ordered chicken burgers. The chicken was horrendous. Why are you using chicken thighs which were full of fat and just inedible. Please stop cutting corners with the quality of food. Appreciated the refund but would rather have paid for quality food.

Table booked last minute, was asked where we’d like to sit on the phone. Had to call back with help with directions to carpark . Really helpful on both calls. Warm and inviting staff, awesome food! Will be back! Thank you and well done!

We came to The Cricketers on a Saturday - we had a look at the lunch menu which is really really good value although would’ve been too much food for what we needed! I had the Chicken Caesar Salad and my partner had the Sausage and Mash - sounds pretty bog-standard but executed so well! I think the receipt said we were served by Bella(?! Possibly wrong) but the waitress was lovely, sociable, knowledgeable and efficient. Thanks for a lovely Saturday afternoon! Would definitely request to eat in the bar area - much more lively and if you’re a nosey Parker like me, great for people watching 😁

Lovely evening here. The food was absolutely spot on! The service was generally good, a bit of a wait to be asked for drinks on 2 occasions but apart from that it was a really good experience.

Thank you Team Cricketers for a very enjoyable experience: there were 16 of us, ages 2 - 94, in the upstairs room for a family birthday lunch and everything was great - food, ambience and service. Every member of staff - Rachel and Adam, and everyone we met - was helpful, friendly and efficient, and nothing was too much trouble. Thank you - we'll be back.

I went on vacation with my friend Anne and we spent New Year's Eve there, excellent food, good atmosphere and luxury service, everyone was very friendly and the music was very good.

The food was fine but expensive for what it was. No atmosphere to say it was Christmas .

Been here a few times and the food has always been great but I had the trio of beef main tonight and it was absolutely amazing. One of the best meals I have ever eaten. Service was a bit slow but there were not enough staff working - the service we did get was brilliant. Highly recommend.

Enjoyed a lovely lunch here. Menu is very extensive with a choice of light meals and more substantial offerings too. Everything was nicely presented and very tasty indeed. Staff very welcoming and pleasant too. Tastefully decorated and overall a very nice ambience.

We were ignored when we entered, expecting to be seated. We waited around but nobody came so we took some menus and seated ourselves. Our waiter was good when he arrived but other members of staff less helpful. Our food took a long time to arrive, we were asked if we wanted to order dessert by one waiter before our main course had arrived. Food was good when it came.

Special menu , well not so special after all , ordered beef goulash, would expect it to have beef in it 😩 waitress asked how food was , so I explained the above and the under cooked rice , she apologised to me , decided not to order desert , was asked about our experience at the till when paying then offered a free desert as we were leaving . Will not be going back 👹 nice presentation but over priced for what you end up with , there are much better places to eat in Ormskirk

Booked for a small family party of seven for my daughters 21st It was an early evening meal so we could choose from the lunch menu as well as the Al La carte. All food excellent and we also chose a steak Taco from the Tuesday Taco menu . Nice touch was a mini Prosecco for my daughter Only negative was when we arrived no staff present to greet us so stood around for a min or two

First visit today for Sunday lunch. Good menu, excellent food, fantastic service and great value. All our meals were delicious. Really well cooked and beautifully presented. Would definitely recommend and we will most definitely return. Well done team Cricketers!

Hadn't been for a while due to disappointment last time we went. We waited 45 minutes for our meals when actually we were the only 2 waiting for our meal. My husband's fish and chips was ok but I was very disappointed by an overcooked steak. I did mention it to the staff and it was a case of a flippant apology. We will not be going again for a very long time.

They don’t have a 0 star… Absolutely terrible food no skill or effort & very small portions service waiting 2 hours to be seated If you’re hungry find another place to eat…. Shame on them!

Perhaps not the best time for a great atmosphere (17:30) those who are drinking are soaking up the last ☀️in the beer garden. Added to this - the newly crowned young pub chef of the year is away on his hols in 🇭🇷. The ale nevertheless is great - a choice of 3 on cask.
