Can't believe how much I enjoyed the steak topper, perfect amount of everything. Staff are lovely.

Came for evening meal. Excellent service, food was first class. Ordered soup to start and then battered fish & chips for main course. The soup was delicious and coupled with a warm roll ( nice touch). Main course fish was encased in a light and tasty batter with chunky chips. Prices in line with the calibre of the venue. (2 pints, large wine, starter and main course £31) I do recommend and I will be back to try some more.

Went for friends wedding great venue food was excellent our room was lovely and warm with plenty space, the breakfast was good just what was needed after the wedding set you up for the day

My Wife Kath and myself decided to go for dinner out on Sat 14th Sept, we booked a table at the Briars Hall Restaurant, we have been there quite lot and alwasys found the food to be excellent, however, we arrived at the hotel and looked at the menu and decided on choosing the Butchers Board. I must say it was the best choice we could have made, we both had the fillet steak for the main and i had the ribs for my starter Kath had Prawn cocktail it was ABSOLUTELY BRILLIANT. If anyone is thinking of going for a meal to the Briars I can't recommend it highly enough, you will not be disappointed . Best Value ever for steak the price also includes any starter you may like. Staff probably the friendliest i have spoken to for a long while. GT

We decided to visit after reading great reviews, it did not disappoint, the food was fabulous, we had steak and ribs, the ribs were amazing, service perfect, we will definitely return

We popped in today for lunch and had a wonderful one .I had the glazed Ribs, minute steak and the cheesecake which was delicious the ribs were very meaty. My husband had garlic mushrooms,fish and chips and the cheesecake. My Dad just had the soup and cheesecake 😋. We also had the pleasure of meeting James the new duty manager who did very well on his first day. James is a very pleasant young man and I think he will do very well .Welcome James x

Fantastic wedding venue, great service, I would recommend this hotel.

Went to a wedding here. Not impressed with the buffet. Not enough salad to go around. Two tables never got any deserts. Tried to order a taxi at the reception. Three times they booked one which never came. We had to resort to Uber which was three times as expensive as a normal taxi. Not impressed.

I cannot recommend this hotel highly enough. I Got married there at the weekend and what an amazing experience. From the very first time stepping through the door to enquire to the actual wedding day every single interaction has been nothing but positive and helpful. The receptionists are friendly and very attentive nothing is too much trouble for any of the staff. The wedding coordinator was nothing short of amazing, every meeting we were listened to and again nothing was too much trouble. The master of ceremony was so attentive and he was there when I needed him before I even knew I needed him. Every member of staff I spoke to was friendly, courteous and helpful. The rooms were clean and spacious. The food was amazing not just for the wedding but also food the night before and breakfast the day after. They added so many special touches and made our day absolutely perfect. I give the hotel 5 stars but I would give a million if I could. I recommend anyone getting married to take a look at this venue, you will not be disappointed. Anyone looking for an amazing meal this is the place to go.

Attended my sisters wedding here are the weekend. Absolutely outstanding. All the staff where lovely and nothing was too much trouble for them. They went above and beyond to ensure guests were catered for and looked after. Absolutely credit to the hotel

Recently visited on a Sunday to try the carvery. Had heard excellent things about it and it certainly did not disappoint!! 4 choices of meat and lots of vegetables and potatoes. Really tasty! Would recommend booking as it was very busy.

Wow, the best meal we have had for a long time and we eat out on a regular basis. The butchers board was amazing. Starters - Pork Ribs that just fell of the bone & Halloumi, really good. 8oz Fillet steaks, cooked to perfection both rare. The best ever Chunky chips & Battered Onion Rings - all this for £25 per head, it's amazing. And of course washed down with really good value wine . Alex was the perfect host, as were the girls that were waiting on, thank you to all. We will return very soon, Elaine & Tony

I stayed in room 101 on 18/5/24, I was there for a friends Birthday Party, my room was lovely. The party buffet food and breakfast were delicious. Unfortunately I left my iphone charger in the room when I checked out. I am happy to say I have had a call from the hotel and my charger is there ready for collection. Brilliant News

Me and my mum in law went to the Cabaret Afternoon yesterday and had a fabulous time. The food was hot and delicious, the staff lovely and the entertainment brilliant. We hope to go again. Thank you so much for looking after us, it was a brilliant afternoon. Perfect!

Went to the restaurant to celebrate my parents golden wedding anniversary as we had been to the restaurant for a carvery a year or so ago and really enjoyed it. However this time was different. Will go through the vegetables first. The mash was pretty nice, the carrot and swede nice, brocoli was fine and the roasties could probably have done with a bit more roasting, but they were still nice. Now for the meat. The lamb and turkey I had was good, the lamb not being fatty. The gammon my parents had and my partner they said was lovely. However now for the beef. Its a Pity on the large carvery you get 4 meats and my poor dad only really likes beef so he ended up with 3 slices of it plus 1 gammon. I had 2 slices of it. I can only describe it like when you watched them old movies in black and white where the people would get a hole in the bottom of their shoes or boots, they would use something to fill the hole. The beef could have been used. It would withstand anything. Tough and dry were understatements to describe it. My dad left all 3 slices and I had to leave one of mine as there was no way I could cut it. The other slice was thinner so I managed to somehow eat it. The Yorkshire pudding was equally as dry. And the gravy had a strange taste to it. It says meat gravy, maybe the juices from the roast beef had long evaporated so they had to chuck in some powder beef granules. For dessert my father had the sticky toffee pudding of which he said was one of the best he'd ever had. I had the custard tart which was very poor. Thin custard, very dry and some raspberry meringue bits on top with a raspberry coulis drizzled around the circumference of the plate. So it was a disappointing meal for my parents celebration.

Been there tonight had a three course meal and it was absolutely fantastic The service was spot on had a great night will definitely go again

Really had a fabulous afternoon ,brilliant cabaret plus a 3 course Xmas meal ..superb..hard to find a match at the price..

Passed many times after visiting Taylor farm shop & said we would try dining there. Two courses with beer, wine or sift drink £20. Soup was mad hot (yeah, makes a change) roast beef dinner all the trimmings. Apparently menu changes monthly, so I'll be back.

Visited with party on Tuesday. Room was cold especially by the windows. Some of our party asked staff if heating could be increased but nothing happened. Meal was ok. Main course not that hot. Entertainment same as years ago. Not the best meal by any means. Won't be returning.

Just been today to Christmas party food slow to come out for 27.50 food was cold potatoes hard had to ask for tea coffee was a terrible would not book again

Meal with friends ... Food 5*- food was great ! So good! Drinks were slow to come, considering only 1 other table in ..but staff were great Particularly one young gent with a green grinch hat on ...hes a credit to the place .. Could eat here every day 😋

I booked for 33 guest to attendand and celebrate my wife 80th birthday, the staff were professional, friendly and helpful, top marks to the chef, our meals were served fresh, hot, and plentyful all guest had nothing only praise for both starters and main course. 17guest stayed overnight, and rooms were clean, beds comfortable and excellent cooked breakfast. We attend regular for meals, and if any occasion comes up to book another event we will be back.

Wonderful hotel with a lot of character. Excellent food. A little remote if you don't have a car. 20 min walk to the train station and 30 min to a bigger supermarket.

Lovely clean and comfortable room, staff very friendly and bent over backwards for you. And breakfast was amazing and plentiful, will definitely return.

Clean comfortable but a bit overpriced

Attended an afternoon cabaret with lunch. Staff very friendly and helpful. It was advertised as turkey dinner only for us to be told it was beef. Some objected so were told the turkey doesn’t look right but you can have it. The meal arrived and it looked most unappetising. Curled up dry meat, hard overcooked roast potatoes and grey mushy broccoli with carrot mush. Most struggled to eat much. There wasn’t a choice of starter or dessert and I don’t like sticky toffee pudding or ice cream so went without. I was so disappointed that I chose to write this review . The staff worked hard to ensure everyone was enjoying themselves and the cabaret very good.

Place is okay and staff fine. 3 course meal was very basic and the main was the size of a child's meal. There was such a limited choice, soup or orange juice 😳, roast beef dinner or vegetarian lasagne and ice cream or sticky toffee pudding 🙄. Very poor.

We are a small charity, and they let us have committee meetings in an area of the lounge for free. We only pay if someone wants a drink . Lovely staff and lunch time food is great. (SWLICAN)

Decided to pop in for an evening meal on a Thursday night. We were greeted by really friendly, polite staff, a credit to the establishment. They took good care of us and provided first class service. The food was delicious, we really enjoyed it. The restaurant was very quiet which we didn't mind, however we wonder whether it could be advertised more as our local community are missing a treat! We will definitely be visiting again & recommending it to all our family & friends!

Nice location, really nice room, but with the kitchen extractors right outside the window made it rather noisy with the windows open. Beer was only average, the food was really well thought out and cooked well. Staff were all helpful and pleasant.

Our family of 6 had a delicious carvery on Sunday. Everyone agreed the food was perfect..and the service excellent.The desserts were delicious especially the Eton Mess! Also very reasonable prices We all can't wait to go back. Highly recommended.

Had my sisters wedding here late July. Beautiful location , the staff couldn't do enough for you , food was absolutely amazing, rooms were lovely and clean. We stayed the night before as the bridal party and even the biscuits / tea / coffee was replenished the next morning. Fantastic wedding venue and I highly recommend

We went to the restaurant for a family occasion and the food and service was fantastic. The food was so tasty and I would definitely recommend a visit for something to eat.

Myself and the wife Kath hadn't ben to the Briars for quite a while. But decided to go Sat 29th with two very good friends of ours, we were all very impressed with the food, Staff extremely helpful and polite, Guinness excellent all in all a very pleasant night out for us. We will certainly visit again soon. (we were amazed that all four of us loved the food and drink .Highly unusual very very rarely happens).

The team at Briars Hall are absolutely brilliant. From the day before my wedding when we arrived to the day we left, they were absolutely amazing. I can’t recommend the venue enough for a wedding. What can I say guys! Knocked it out the park as always! We had been to my brothers wedding here previously and were absolutely amazed by the place, the staff, food and everything, so much so we booked our wedding here ourselves, what can I say, nothing was too much bother for the staff and made our day feel so special, we were treated better there than we’ve ever been treated before anywhere else (both times), food drink and entertainment were perfect! Anything we asked for was never too much bother, these guys go above and beyond, we didn’t want to leave the place haha. We’ve just came home from our wedding day/weekend there and all I can say is PERFECTION! We love this place and will be returning again shortly, 10/10 will be recommending 100%!!! Thanks again guys! Beautiful surroundings, stunning venue ideal for a wedding . Popped in to briars Hall for lunch .. fantastic pleasant atmosphere with extremely happy professional staff The older lady sat next to us wanted to know the source of the meat ? Scottish or English , venison or beef, what butcher etc etc etc ... quite a schoolmistress demeanour yet the staff remained nice , helpful and even fun. Our food was beautiful... tasty ... good portion sizes and to be honest so unbelievably tasty . For a 2 course lunch with 4 x double drinks and coffee £65 ong what value x The lady and gentleman server's were so pleasant . What a great day

We celebrated our anniversary on Saturday evening- 30 years and we were in the same room!l The staff were so helpful from booking, all the preparations and on the day. Special mention to Richie who was a fab party coordinator! The buffet was excellent too. We had a marvellous time thank you

A beautiful but dated hotel in a lovely setting, but… where to start? Our bed clearly hadn’t had clean sheets put on as there was heart shaped confetti on the sheet as well as on the floor and the stairs and landing from reception hadn’t seen a vacuum in a long time. In the restaurant I ordered Creamy Garlic Field Mushrooms. The staff brought out the wrong meals at first but when mine arrived it was an awful inedible mess. Tough mushrooms on sloppy oily bread. The only positive aspect overall was the friendly helpfulness of the staff - couldn’t fault them at all. I left a comment sheet in our room as requested but nobody has been in touch. Very disappointing.

Visited Briars hall for a wedding and what a day - the venue was perfect, from organisation to service i can not fault it. The food was spot on, the staff were incredibly friendly and efficient. With loads of parking, disabled friendly rooms and a huge beer garden to the rear. 100% i will be back to try the normal menu. Definitely worth a visit.

We were able to get a table at short notice on a busy Sunday evening. The food was really good value and the carvery was very tasty. The choice and amount of meats served for the price was great.

Quiet and comfy rooms, with a great restaurant/pub downstairs. The staff are amazing at looking after the guests and are always available and happy for a chat. The hotel it self is tricky to get to if you don't have a car but if you enjoy a walk along the canal from Burscough or catch the bus from the station then you will be fine. The fact it's a bit out the way means it makes the most of the beautiful scenery. Will definitely plan to stay here again!
