Myself and a friend organised a baby shower celebration in the Coach Suite at the Hop Vine, Burscough. I would thoroughly recommend checking the Hop out, if your planning a celebration. Mike, Julie, Katie, Ellie and lovely Hannah behind the bar were super attentive and nothing was too much trouble. They arranged afternoon tea for over 40 ladies and I have to say for the price (£10 per person). It was one of the best afternoon tea's I've ever had. The sandwiches were lovely and fresh. Scones and cakes, tea and prosecco were plentiful.

As usual the food was very tasty and well presented. We enjoyed the Hunters Chicken and there is a very good selection of Vegetarian dishes and they were very good. The drinks are great value and their beer selection is great.

We've been putting off going to the Hop Vine for a while on the assumption that it was expensive and now we're kicking ourselves for not going sooner! Absolutely nothing to fault - all the dishes were superb, the sevice was attentive and friendly and when the bill came we were delighted at the valuye for money we'd received. We'll be back

Callen today after booking a table and I was very disappointed with the service received. I have been the hopvine many times and although in not local to burscough I still enjoy the food which is always nice and well presented. The service I usually find ok as I know it's a busy pub and waiting is at times is unavoidable. However, today I found the service very poor and unprofessional in terms that we was sat at our table, menues given and basically that was it, apart from someone coming over to take a drinks order, no one bothered to come and ask for a food order or even to ask if we was ready to order, I had to seek a waitress down which felt awkward and by this time I'd had enough, my wife who has poor mobility, hard of hearing and not in good health felt disappointed at the whole scenario. It won't put me off going to the hopvine but I felt today the service was terrible and we ended leaving as we both felt that the enjoyment had filtered, I feel some staff are better then others and today I feel the worst staff was in.

Very busy pub, but food, menu, and service is spot on, first time to visit defo won't be the last.

the hop vine was recommended by a friend , I decided while I was off for the day I'd treat the Mrs to a nice little run out for a early afternoon meal , we running late so called in advance , the lady on the line was wonderful. I must say the service we received was unbelievable everyone was so super friendly and attentive, we were made so very welcome , we viewed the menu prior so we actually ordered over the phone as we made our way there .. the food was absolutely beautiful and plenty of it too and very reasonably priced also , was definitely worth the 20 mile drive , cannot recommend highly enough ..

Layout of the Pub is nicely spaced, with a comfortable 'old' feel about it 👍 Menu is varied and quite large, so something for everyone 😉 The food is fantastic, really nicely cooked with great ingredients and great presentation 😎 Food is served quickly and is piping hot 👍 Service is very good, fast, efficient and friendly 👍 Definitely a place to visit if you're in the area (or even to head to if you're not close by 😉) you won't be disappointed 👍😎

We had lunch here after it being recommended and it didn’t disappoint. They had a good election of food with gluten free options available and were happy to modify anything to our requirements. Everywhere was lovely and clean and it just had a lovely feel to it, with families, groups and couples setting a nice atmosphere and buzz. Staff were great, service fab and food lovely - and reasonably priced. A lovely visit, thank you and we’ll defiantly be back.

Wow, what an incredible night!!! Every member of staff was absolutely brilliant and super friendly, the food was incredible and the atmosphere was buzzing!!! Thank you all so much, we are so glad we spent our wedding anniversary with you guys!! We had a sneaky peak at the gluten free menu due to other family members intolerance and it looked great!! 😁

The Hop Vine is one of my favourite places to eat in the area and have not dined here for a while. We had the Steak & Ale Pie, Hunters Chicken and for desert Apple Pie & Cheesecake. Why if one of my favourite places to dine do I give 4 stars…..simple…The Hop Vine has set high standards with our past visits and this visit was very good but not as good as previous (now we are splitting hairs here) as it was very good. I think it was because we enjoyed our desert more than the main course. The staff here are very and I mean very good and friendly some of the finest in the area. A wonderful selection of real ales. I wish I could pop the star rating at 4.5 but can only put 4 and not fair to put 5 when I know and have experienced the Hop Vine at its finest previously. Would I return - yes, would I recommend to anybody - absolutely. One of finest Pub / Restaurants in the area.

Cheap pints, lovely pub, great service

Not eaten here myself but heard many say the food is great. A lovely pub with a great atmosphere. The staff were all very friendly and professional. Great selection of beers and ales and (I'm glad to say) so German beers too

Visited today for valentine's lunch and have to say overall the meal was nice, the starter of halloumi and butternut squash was packed with flavour, the king prawn curry was nice but I wasn't keen on the thin strips of veg which just slightly let it down. My wife had the steak & ale pie which she said was a bit over salted, staff were amazing and although it's not one of the better meals I've had at the hopvine, the food is still worthy of 5 stars because in general the food is very very good as is the service and atmosphere.

The lamb roast and cheesecake was amazing, service started well, but got a little slow when the pub got busy.

Bit disappointed tbh. Free house. Good friendly service, busy and the bar had a buzz about it. Beer was average though unfortunately. Their own best bitter was flat and was on the verge. The Timmy Taylor's was ok. Not a massive selection of real ales .

Staff were very polite and helpful, the steak pie was lovely and so was the fish and chips. But the Eaton mess cheese cake was next level.mmmmm. 5*..

I arranged 5 different groups of people to have a Christmas meal, and all groups agreed... it was all lovely and staff very well trained.

Had our office Christmas dinner here. Our table wasn't ready on arrival, had to wait 30 minutes. Food was conveyor belt and the wines were dreadful. But we had a blast as it was Christmas, I'm sure it's better out of the holiday season as it was very popular at the bar

Excellent meal with family. We each had a different main course and we all thoroughly enjoyed our choices I would thoroughly recommend a visit.

Great food, great atmosphere and really popular

Chuffing excellent, truly awesome food, super friendly and fun staff ⚕️ live band were ace, their own IPA was good but the blonde was top notch, top top night, very grateful for the hard work that must have gone in for the seamless way everything flowed. A+++👍

Great experience from walking through the door to leaving. Frequented this pub many times in the past and always had good food but stopped going when we became dog owners. Delighted to find the pub now has dog friendly areas for eating & drinking. Super warm welcome and service throughout our visit. I had a superb meal of perfectly cooked salmon with clams in a lovely wine & leek sauce together with perfectly cooked new potatoes & asparagus. Husband had Gammon which he enjoyed. Staff attentive and fussed our dog which is always nice

Now this is a great place for Real Home Cooked Food. From the outside the place looks nothing out of the ordinary but once inside it was a busy place on a Sunday afternoon. Busy & warm. The atmosphere was great no loud music playing on speakers or rowdy people at the bar. Mr & my wife were with friends of ours who like as were a bit skepitical when we got out of our cars looking at the back of the building. we were all glad we went inside. The service that was provided was second to non. The food. The Fresh Haddock & Chips was incredible it was so big that our friends took some home for their dogs. It was served with Chubby Chips which were Amazing. We had two Homemade Steak & Alle pies which were filled with big chunks of steak. I had the Hunters Chicken which was OK but not a big of a portionthan my wife & friends had for their meals but it was very nice with the BBQ Sauce. Then for dessert I had the best Ive ever eaten Creme Brulee which came with biscuits & a raspberry sauce. It was Incredible. Our friends & my wife had The Crumble of the day, Bramley apple which I tasted & was made with real apple not out of a tin. Chocolate & Raspberry Tarlet with Mrs Dowson's salted Caramel Ice-cream along with the Ferrero Rocher Cheesecake served once again with Mrs Dowsons Ice-cream (Vanilla). We all agredd we would be paying another visit to this Gem of a place. I would suggest you call up & book thou as it seemed to be busy all the time we were there on a Sunday afternoon.

Lovely food and good ales on hand pump.

We went last night for my birthday celebration and had 3 courses. Young waitresses very pleasant and food lovely but as we had just finished our dessert the waitress came over and asked for our placemats and condiments and they were whipped away. We were left with just our drinks but had wanted to order coffees and brandies but everyone had disappeared. My husband went to the bar and somebody else was there asking if he could pay his bill as the waitress hadn't come back. My husband asked if all the waitresses had gone home and was told yes but did he want something else. Disgusted we paid the bill and left. What an end to a lovely birthday meal. This was all before 9pm

The service was friendly and attentive and the pub has a certain warmth in its character. The clientele seems to be older generation. Even though the pub was pretty quiet we were out in a separate room which meant it lacked ambience for our meal. The most disappointing thing was the food. It wasn’t unpleasant but the menu was misleading. I was trying to eat healthily and found some great options on the menu. I chose the roast chicken supreme with a celeriac rosti, spring onions and a pea purée. This sounded like a healthy option but it appeared and tasted like the chicken had been fried. The spring onions were battered and fried. And the rosti was greasy too. I was left feeling like I’d eaten unhealthily after my best intentions. My partner described his burger and chips as underwhelming. We were disappointed overall.

Fantastic pub with amazing food, staff are always friendly and welcoming. A brilliant night out is guaranteed at the Hop Vine.

Unfortunately did not have a great experience here on Sunday, one that I'd been anticipating for a while having heard rave reviews. There were 6 of us in total, 4 adults & 2 children. The adults all ordered Sunday Roasts (2 Beef, 1 Chicken & 1 Lamb) alongside two children's meals. The service was extremely slow from the off & despite us getting drinks fairly quickly, we had to get up and ask one of the 4/5 waitresses to take our food order. We waited around 20 minutes or so for our food, which was fine. Both children's meals came, alongside a chicken & lamb roast, with all the sides (including veg that came with, as well as the additional sides we ordered). 10 more minutes passed & 2 beef roasts hadn't arrived, so we got up again to ask what was going on. I could see from the conversation they had with the chef at the hatch that they'd completely forgotten them. They then took all of the sides back due to them going cold, whilst two of us were still eating & we had to wait another 15 minutes or so for the beef roasts they'd forgotten, it meant we all ate at different times. The lamb itself was dry and largely overcooked, the roast potatoes were drowned in gravy and tasty soggy/fatty. Unfortunately the Yorkshire pudding was also poor/did not taste fresh. Upon them bringing back out the sides the veg was undercooked, but at this point, we didn't want to complain any further. The waitress did offer to remove a round of drinks off our bill & one of the roast dinners as a way of apology, but to be honest I'm surprised we were ok with paying any of the £120 (with discount) bill, given how poor the food & service was. The waitresses did not seem with it at all - one them was serving heavy plates of food directly over our daughters head (who is 9 months old) which I had to ask her to be careful of, given moments earlier one of them had dropped a full tray of drinks all over the table adjacent to us. The only thing I would compliment here are the desserts, which were great & the general atmosphere of the pub (warm/welcoming), however that won't be enough for me to ever return here as it was largely terrible.

Myself and 4 friends had Sunday lunch at the Hopvine. We are not local to Burscough. Was concerned when we found it coz the car park is very small but we managed to find a space. The place was packed but we had reserved a table and the staff were welcoming, friendly and efficient. The menu was excellent and there was a lovely Sunday dinner too. I'm vegetarian and they asked if there was anything in particular I wanted but I just opted for the menu choice. Our meal and drinks were served quickly and it was delicious. I was too full to eat a sweet but my friends had one and said it was lovely. So yes it was worth the journey over, we will definitely go again and I would recommend.

Food was good and beautifully presented. Unfortunately several of our party suffered from upset stomachs following our visit which has not been explained

The staff were very attentive and friendly. Dog friendly. The food is good honest pub grub, done really well. We had the nachos, prawn cocktail, tempura prawns and calamari to start, all were delicious. For the mains we had the steak and ale pie, chicken Caesar salad, and 2 starters Caesar salad and poached egg with black pudding. Everything was delicious and everyone was happy. The staff were attentive, quickly brought the drinks we ordered and always available when we wanted to order more. The menu might feel limited as it is very much focussed on traditional pub food, but everything was done well. Would I return? Absolutely!

Been twice to this place. Once in the evening and once at lunch. It was buzzing both times. Food was great. I had the cheese, onion and leek pie which was really tasty. Service was quick and very attentive.

I love this pub. It has such a lovely atmosphere and is really well decorated and set out. A popular proper pub with high end restaurant food. They were really accommodating with fussy dietey requirements. We also stayed for the quiz which was fun.

Menu is a little boring, food just okay but expensive for a pub dinner. Probably wouldn't return unless they improved the menu and food. Had goats cheese and beetroot salad, pretty bland and well underseasoned. Seabass was okay, lemon sauce was a fashionable dribble but never enough to taste it with the fish.

Private party following a funeral. Lovely fresh sandwiches, hot chips cake etc. Staff were very respectful of the occasion. Gluten free diets well catered for

Decided to drop in for an early evening meal. On a Friday tea time the place was extremely busy and noisy. We were directed to a corner table, which was conveniently quiet and away from the hustle and bustle. We ordered the fish and chips and scampi and we were left undisturbed to eat our meal. I had expected at least one of the staff to check if everything was okay but that wasn't the case. Lots of staff working, which I soon realised was because a function was about to or had taken place. The food can best be described as average pub grub, which was probably slightly overpriced. No complaints but will avoid at peak times and I know there are better local pubs in the area.

Such a great pub/restaurant. Staff are friendly, clearly well trained and efficient and the selection of beers are excellent. We also had food, which was also lovely. The cow burger is great quality and the chicken goujons were fresh and tasty. Our friends had the steak pie, which they enjoyed. There's an extensive outdoor sitting area with lots of parts covered, in what looks like an old stable roof and the interior is old pub style, spotlessly clean and tastefully furnished. A must visit if you're in the area.

Lovely meal at the vine hop at lunch time quite busy .....I had a tuna and cheese baguette ...very tasty ..with chips ...........hubby had the spicey ribs as a main with chips ..and garlic mushrooms ...also very tasty ....he said best meal he has had in a while ......so thankyou so much ...we will be back ........

First time we'd been for food, dined withe friends, the place was very busy, plenty of staff on so service and food very quick, extensive menu, good choice of real ales , parking could be a problem, but handy for the railway station .

Been coming here for a few years on and off and mostly for food because it's one of the few pubs local to me that does decent food. Prices are a bit higher than other venues but the quality speaks for itself. Services were spot on with all staff being very friendly if and when asked for something. Highly recommended.

This is a nice pub with dwindling sales so the prices seem to being increased whilst reducing the portions to tiny sizes. Once was my favourite pub now not so much. I felt so insulted with the portion sizes I handed my meal back tonight in disgust. Will not be eating there again.

The meal and the service couldn’t have been any better. The chicken supreme was delicious. The sauce was lovely and the whole dish was very well presented. The hop vine has a great atmosphere and there is something on the menu for everyone.
