Very friendly staff, but disappointed with food which was ok but not great and very expensive for what we got. Had the Meat Sharing Board for £33 and there really wasn't enough even for two to share. Once we added a pint of beer, a pint of diet coke, and a service charge there was very little change out of £50 which left a bitter taste in the mouth for what was supposed to be a nice pre-gig treat. I'll stick to just the gig in future which was brilliant with two tickets costing me half what it did for the pre-gig food & drink!

So very glad I chose The Slaughtered Lamb for after conference drinks and dinner. Both the food and the drink was good, but the staff were exceptional. The bar staff were really pleasant and extremely efficient and the waitress/host Charlotte (I really hope I remembered that name correctly) was something else. We were so well looked after and didn't even have to ask for another drink before it was offered. Just brilliant. Well done Charlotte and the team.

The pub part is on the ground floor. Crowded, even on a Monday night. Had fish (haddock I think) and chips which was tasty and satisfying. The room is quite dark, so not great for reading while you eat! Actually came for a gig, to see the wonderful Chris Cacavas. That's downstairs. It opened at 7:00pm , and I was pleased to find that there was some seating, so grabbed a comfortable space with a good view. I'll add the Slaughtered Lamb to my list of great places to see a gig in London. Nice atmosphere, friendly staff, reasonable prices and good food. Well done!

Busy and very popular real ale pub restaurant with cellar bar for bands. Had excellent range of beers, lagers etc. in the pub itself on my visit. They do seem to like to watch the pennies by giving short pints, so don’t be surprised if you need to ask for a top up. Downstairs bar offers severely reduced choice but still OK and you can always pop back upstairs. Band area is smallish and has low ceiling hence getting sound right can be a challenge, can also feel quite claustrophobic but overall a good option if not too crowded.

The upstairs area of the slaughtered Lamb is a very pleasant, light & airy pub with a decent amount of tables and TV's scattered around (great for watching the football on). The staff were friendly and the sides of food we had were pretty tasty. The only small let down is the selection of drinks, unless you like various ales or are in the mood to drink spirits, there really isn't all that much choice.

Elizabeth Hunter's gig on a weekday night. Seeing the pub half full on a weekday night is not so common but "The slaughtered lamb" is popular.Well, it's also terribly understaffed: at 19.15 there were 3 people (including the kind guy who seemed a manager) serving at least 40 clients; it took 10-15 minutes to order a pint. Frustrating, even more for a constantly busy venue. I can only imagine on a Saturday night. Moreover, you have to order food upstairs (the stage is in the basement) if you want to eat downstairs, even if they have a bar counter there!Sausages & mash were definitely quite good: gravy a bit limited but great taste. It took a while to be served but keep in mind the same 3 people are the ones to serve food to tables, still more reasonable than for drinks.Music: the event was ticketed so predictably a bit empty; sound was well balanced, one supporting act ridiculously poor (i.e., Catgod), others much better (i.e., Charlotte Enegren). In this case, pub showed its better side and delivered...

The only time we go here is when we are going to a gig downstairs, but that's only because its not our neighbourhood or anywhere near. The pub has certainly changed over the years and now has a great vibe, good food and a fairly decent range of beers. Trendy of course it is, but don't let that put you off!The food ranges from about £9.50-£11.50 and I have loved the fish finger sandwich, the burgers and the fish and chips. I think the food prices are spot-on.For the drinks it can be more mixed. They often don't have all the beers on that the pumps show (what is it with bar staff and turning the badge round these days?) - and the beer can be pricey. I am pleased there is finally a tiny trend starting towards pump pricing happening in pubs - but here you need to ask. My partner ordered a pint and it turned out to be £7 - the staff member really should have pointed that out before she poured it since it was way more that even their usually expensive prices - she did at least look sheepish, nevertheless a tasty pint and I would say what it was if I could remember!Downstairs the live music room is great. It is small and if you want a seat you need to be in the queue before the doors open. Otherwise its a long evening standing. It also gets unbelievably hot down there - and I have yet to go to a gig where the musicians haven't mentioned this. I think there may be air-con but its noisy so its not turned on (perhaps the pub could confirm?), even so - a terrific venue would turn into a brilliant one if that was sorted out. There is a bar downstairs as well but doesn't have the full range - no beers for instance, but easy to pop upstairs. When you walk up to the pub you could be forgiven in thinking it must be packed out but that's just because everyone is standing outside - lots of tables and seating inside, makes it a great place to visit.Highly recommend.PS: Once again this is neither Cheap Eats, quick serve or self-service - or Mid-range, casual, table service but I have selected the Mid range option. I would say the food prices are very good, the beer is expensive by comparison, its not table service, but otherwise it is mid-range 'style'. Hope this helps!

Before this past Friday I have been here a few other times, mostly on weekdays and the bartenders were so friendly, quick to serve, and overall really amazing! Which is why what happened on Friday night was really off-putting. Went with a large group after work and I wasn't impressed with their "Friday night Service."From my experience in the industry you put on your quickest and best bartenders on a busy night, like a Friday, to keep the drinks going out and customers happy. I saw none of that on Friday night. Watching them pour one drink, go to the till, enter it, then come back, take another order, make the drink, go to the till, and enter it again was painful and really time-consuming.Not only that, no one could add the drinks up in their head. I am not asking for super-skills here; I'm talking basic math. I watched as one bartender had to go to the till, to ring in three £4.50 beers and then come tell me the total. Is that where we're at? Yikes! Not to add insult to injury but the staff seemed really out of it, maybe it was a cocktail behind the bar, maybe they were tired, but there was no "pep to their step" and I felt like I was taking up THEIR time by coming to the bar to order.I might go again, but definitely not a Friday night.

Came here for a lunch meeting and we were not disappointed. An old style pub done up for the modern age but with plenty of the original tiling and woodworking etc. It got very busy but we were one step ahead of the game and in before the crowds, food ordered, sat down and enjoying the drinks. Food was above par and got a thumbs up although not particularly exceptional. Would have liked a few more options to choose from to give it the fourth star. Took a deep breath and went back for a second round of drinks when the bar had got rammed but wasn't kept waiting long at all as the staff were on it. Will return, more regularly with a few more options on the menu.

Haven't got a lot to say about the Slaughtered Lamb as I never managed to get there, we booked an area online well in advance for a special birthday celebration and invited lots of people, then when we called a week before to check all was ok with the booking we were told the booking had been lost - and no effort at all was made to either apologise, or find a space for us. So we went somewhere else. Really inconvenient, had to change lots of people's plans at the last minute, and obviously it was tricky to find a booking for a large area in a pub in London on a Saturday night with a week's notice. Rubbish.

This place gets very busy at certain periods which is fine. The food is good and the beer isn't bad at all. However they have some of the rudest staff I have ever encountered. Went for lunch on a quiet Monday afternoon and the girl serving food was abrupt, short tempered and just plain rude! I can understand wait staff being stressed, it is not an easy job, but when it is quiet and there are two tables there is no need to slam food down on the table, tell people to hurry up when ordering and openly bad mouthing customers in ear shot.

The pub itself it's nice, seems an old warehouse and maybe it was. Food and service are very good and could be an option if you're around.

This pub has real potential, they have a really good selection of Ale.Unfortunately the service is painfully slow, it should not take 10 mins to get served with one person in front of you. The staff are continually chatting to each other, it appears they are here to socialise not work the ramp.If you are on a hurry give this place a miss

This pub is near my work and I've been a couple of times for lunch. The food has always been good, fast service with a smile. Quite expensive at £10 for a burger and chips but that's average for the area and the potions are big. I can't say much about the drink but I know the guys at work go there all the time and like it. Give it a go

We hosted and attended an event in "the venue" downstairs. It is a cool room for sure. The pub upstairs was full the entire time and the whole ambiance was very cool. What more could you ask for...?

Large open plan style pub near Smithfield market. Tried the Pale Ale which was very enjoyable, and also had a few sliders which were good and seemed a fair price - £8 for 3. Overall a nice place for a lunch although clientele seemed to be very much a hipster bunch with most males sporting facial hair and a check shirt!

My partner and I visited the basement venue to go to a performance although the performance was incredible the venue itself was shockingly bad. We where told that the bar would open In the venue at 8 it did not bother opening at all!! The performer we had paid to see which was an acoustic set had to struggle against the upstairs barmen coming in throughout the performance and taking drink and classes upstairs opening the doors and clinking glasses throughout!! I attempted to get a drink from upstairs several times but the service was so bad I gave up! I would go to see Lisa Mitchell again however would never step foot inside the slaughtered lamb.

It's okay if you like places like this - bit dark, very noisy, music - hard to hear each other talk in the evenings. On a sunday thought it is quieter and more my sort of place. Bear in mind i'm not the hipster target market and like to be able to hear my friends!

Generally this seems like a nice pub (although it is trying to be a bit too 'cool for school'). The upstairs bar is well laid out and nicely decorated, the downstairs bar is a really good live music venue and hosts great band nights (including 'before the gold rush' which we were at). However, it is pretty expensive for both the beer and the food and the service varied widely in the few hours we were there. Firstly my partner and I ordered 2 main meals and were surprised to see immediately afterwards that both members of the kitchen staff walked out of the pub for a long cigarette break. 20 mins later friends of ours ordered 2 plates of sliders and whilst these arrived within 15 minutes, our food was no where to be seen. Unfortunately one friend then found that one of her sliders contained a rubber band and so duly complained, sent the rest of her food back and requested a refund. A barmaid with long blonde and lilac hair then came over to over her both a refund and more food but, as our friend didn't want anymore, she politely declined and asked again for the refund. The barmaid then stomped off angrily and came back to uncereminomiously dump the refund on the table without a further word. Giving it another 5 minutes (45 minutes after ordering), my partner then asked the (much politer) barman where our food was and, when he then stormed into the kitchen, it became apparent that that had been totally overlooked. It still took one further inquiry 10 minutes later before we actually got our food, but to be fair the barman brought it over with both profuse apologies and a full refund. The food itself I should say was very nice (1 fish and chips and one TSL burger) but unfortunately other people we knew who arrived later that evening also had a problem with severely delayed food so this wasn't a one off that night.Overall, go enjoy the live music (and order some food if you are not in a rush) but don't expect much beyond average pub service, if that.

Thought i would give it a number of visits before reviewing. First few visits excellent well kept ales and international craft beer offerings. Over time choice of Craft beers now very limited. I also had some very poorly kept ales. Prices are about average but the price of some bottled beers is verging on greedy. Service is polite and efficient even when busy. Usual gripe about excessively loud in yer face music which serves no real purpose. Have not tried food offering but overall this has a become a much less attractive option of late.

I was in The Slaughtered Lamb on Friday after work and was very disappointed with the larger on tap that was served. It was flat and after a few minutes looked like it had been poored and left on the table for hours, I couldn't drink it with the fear of being sick from it.I changed my drinks to Cider which was fine but ran out by 11pm.The food was good. The awful larger has put me off and I do not plan to return.

I was with a group of friends, we completed a treasure hunt of the Clerkenwell & Farringdon areas of London, and settle for the evening in the Slaughtered Lamb. There were plenty of easy chairs and settees. A selection of draught "real" ales, and an interesting menu of traditional British and other food were available. The benches and tables proved to be a great place to eat comfortably and to maintain conservation with friends. I first heard of the pub as a venue for "alternative" music artists such as "Lucy and the Caterpillar" and "Emma's imagination". The music is played in a basement which also has a bar.

The music system in the pub is so loud that most customers are standing outside because it is almost impossible to have a conversation inside the pub. The staff were uninterested in the issue, insisting that the 300 hundred people outside (as against 60 inside) was just because they wanted to smoke. Nonsense. One should not have to shout or be shouted at to chat to friends or order drinks. The noise in the pub was nothing to do with the 'live' music in the basement which was loud but not at all affecting the pub upstairs.

This is a nice enough pub which we went to following a dinner in Holborn. We sat outside but don't go expecting tables, you get a bench along the outside and you can't really chat to each other as you're sitting in a line...Anyway, not particularly good service, went on a saturday night around 9pm and only a couple of other groups in there, not much of an atmosphere so pretty average. Ok if you just want to grab a drink and have a chat, but not a 'night out' type of place.

Came here for drinks and ended up having a meal. Had mini burgers which were great value for money and sweet potato chips which I wouldn't recommend. Even on a Saturday night wasn't that busy although there was a club downstairs so from about 10pm onwards the chairs were vibrating. Food came quickly and provided tap water all night. Overall a very chilled night
