Second time, Great atmosphere and if you like game it’s a good menu for you. Unfortunately some dishes sold out, but that’s a good sign. Only negative was the wine just not as good as the food, of course that could be my choice but still at £50 + should be there. Not enough to put me off and will go again. Recommend trying the wine before you buy to be sure. Also service very good, which seems a rarity these days

Faaabulous. And, yes, the Hare was truly jugged. I had my own. Sal and Sally had to share ( OK, it was a bigger jug). Ha! Bit noisy - all hard surfaces. But all and sundry having a ball. The chairs. Bentwood and so hard on the bum. Literally. I should have asked for a cushion....but I bet they didn't have one. That was the only minus in a great lunch.

If you're a game meat enthusiast, this restaurant is truly a paradise. The meat was absolutely delicious, with primary ingredients of top quality, all prepared to perfection. The ambiance feels like a cozy countryside home, making for a warm and inviting dining experience. The chef Rafael has ensured a unique culinary journey right in the heart of London. Highly recommended for anyone looking to enjoy a distinctive and delightful meal.

It was our team Christmas lunch and we chose from the Xmas menu. The food was tasty and well cooked, but not overly hot. The main course portions were not very big either. I chose the venison, which was cooked perfectly, but there were no potatoes served with the dish, just a few sprigs of tenderstem broccoli, a spoonful of braised red cabbage (delicious) and a venison bonbon. Overall, I do not think the meal was good value for the cost (£65 for two courses). The Xmas crackers were a nice touch. The restaurant was noisy and lively, with a lot of groups of people, presumably having their work Christmas lunches too. We had a lovely waitress named Lauren who looked after us well. She was friendly and attentive and made us feel welcome. The only tiny criticism I have is that I asked Lauren if the pub sold 0% gin and was told that there was only 0% sparkling wine. We moved to the bar area after lunch and I was able to order a 0% gin. Either Lauren has not been advised of the no or low alcohol drinks on offer or she misheard me. No big deal but I feel it is worth mentioning for training purposes.

We visited here with friends as my husband really wanted to go to a restaurant which served game food. We had some beautiful dishes, my favourite was the black pudding croquettes. The rabbit pie was rich, but lovely, same for my friends jugged hare dish. The grouse was particularly excellent. The menu changes so it was nice to have such a range of game options. The wine was great, but if i was being picky, I could have done with some cheaper options to keep the drinks flowing! They had ran out of certain ones so it was £60-70 a bottle. The decor was fitting, loved the taxidermy. If i was in the area again i would like to try more of their dishes.

Pub has a lot of taxidermies, so if you are not keen on being around them, better not coming in. Other than that, fancy and enjoyable atmosphere, music is at good pace so you can have conversations while having good drinks at good prices. Returning to the Jugged Hare for the first time in about a decade it is still as amazing as I remember it being when I was younger. The general ambience of the restaraunt is one of a warm and welcoming environment and this is also reflected in the attitude of the staff. The staff here are incredibly helpful and very welcoming. In paticular our waitress Lauren who was very friendly and made the entire meal an all round cheerfull experience. She also was very attentive, always there right when we were about to ask for a refill of chablis or for some more sparkling water, she even managed to tempt us into having some amazing deserts. Food and drink wise everything was amazing. The selection of meats on the charcuterie board is complement eachother nicely with my favorite being the goat Nduja. For the mains the burger is amazing. The well balanced mixture of pork, beef and goat creates a rich medly of flavours that are enhanced by the sauce. The burger is perfectly filling though a tad heavy. The mackeral and crab was described by my grandfather as an excellent dish and he noted that though it might not look like a large portion the rich crab meat goes perfectly and it is in fact very filling. He also mentioned that it was perfectly complemented by the Chablis. My father, often a man of few words, had only one thing to say about the Vegetarian stew dish and that was "sublime". For desert I enjoyed a truly amazing sticky toffee pudding with a warm butterscoth sauce and a very smooth salted caramel ice cream. (Photo attached) This dish was the perfect way to round off an already amazing meal. My sister had a gooseberry and mint pie with vanilla ice cream and described the gooseberries as being "pops of flavor" of which the tartness mixed well with the ice cream. My grandfather who had the Chocolate and Bailey's Semifreddo describe it as "rich with an intense flavour" and seemed to thouroughly enjoy it. Finally the cheeseboard which my father and mother had was described as full of flavour and they made sure to mention that it was nicely complemented by the sweet notes of the port. Overall, dinner at the Jugged Hare was a delightful experience made all the more so by the amazing staff like Lauren and I look forward to returning when I am next in london.

Jugged Hare in London is a must-visit for any Sunday roast enthusiast. While we did have to wait for a table to become available, it was undoubtedly worth the anticipation. The Sunday roast we indulged in was nothing short of exceptional. The attentive service and cozy atmosphere added to the overall dining experience, making it a memorable Sunday afternoon. My wife and I had to have a proper Sunday roast while we were in London and our nephew who lived here for 15 years said to go to the Jugged Hare, a great Gastro pub in the City of London. We were not disappointed by yet another brilliant recommendation. The atmosphere is hunting lodge fun, the staff were all friendly and despite our 730 reservation, they were still able to serve us our Sunday roast (we whiled away the afternoon at the Tate’s Expressionist Exhibit). Candidly, our waitress Lauren made all the difference in our evening with her charming repartee, great advice, menu guidance and general good cheer. She expertly balanced supporting our dining experience while not being intrusive. They are really quite fortunate to have such a pro on their team. My Welsh Leg of Lamb was medium rare and tasty as was the excellent mint jelly and the Yorkshire pudding and gravy (in my mind the whole point of a Sunday roast) was superb. My wife opted for a perfectly prepared pan seared Cod Filet. We were both surprised by the side of really well prepared kale and the roast potatoes were also something to write home about - crispy on the outside and buttery smooth on the inside. My wife raved about the sticky toffee pudding. I can’t have dairy and to my delight and surprise they had and absolutely delicious dairy free cheese cake with a chocolate sorbet that was as good as any I have had. We would we go back - in a quick second - especially to try one of their specialty game dishes - though we might check to see if Lauren is working.

If it wasn't so expensive, I'd have given this restaurant 5 stars. Food was delicious. We had their house white wine at about £28, which was very drinkable. A burger was £28 which although fantastic to taste, I'd not come across a burger that expensive. Service was also incredibly attentive and friendly, but this restaurant asks you for service (12 or 13%) and then the waitress asked each person individually if they would like to add a "tip which just goes to me". I'd have gladly given our waitress the while service but when you've paid £46 for a burger, a couple or glasses of wine and service, I feels that's enough. The taxidermy throughout the restaurant might put off some people, just as a heads up.

An impromptu trip to Barbican that ended up here for dinner and did not disappoint. Beautiful little old pub covered in taxidermy, friendly staff. Good spirits selection, looked the kinda place to have a great wine list though I didn't check. A little lacking of beer choices unfortunately but I'm guessing their tied and do the best they can under the circumstances. We only really went for a drink to wait out rush hour but after seeing venison tartare and snails on the bar menu, followed by brain on the full menu, we were sold to stay for dinner. Unfortunately they were out of the brain dish so we shared the sea snails, then the tartare before burgers (but failed on the photo front for the burgers). All of it was incredible, arrived quickly and was well portioned. The tartare even being served in a bone which was a very memorable theatrical touch to the dish. My only criticism was the tartare had too much mustard on it, for my taste the mustard could quite happily be served on the side and the bigger issue, they refused to cook the burger any less than well done. Ideally I'll take burgers on the still mooing side of rare, of I trust the kitchen, but they said no. Which there are laws regarding on mince meat, except if you have any form or tartare on the menu, presumably you know what your doing, right? Why can one set of mince come out raw and the other must be cooked? Can only assume from prebatching the patties but when paying >£20 a burger somewhere with a clear bent for meat lovers, I'd like to think I can have my burger cooked to my satisfaction. Anyway, 5* nonetheless, I'd go 4.5 if I could but all my issues were pretty specific to my personal taste rather than issue issues, so I'll round up. Will definitely be back.

Avoid - baffled and baffling service, multiple hour wait for food. We ordered roast chicken; a normal portion is half a chicken but barely an eighth turned up. Prompting the (baffled) waiting staff resulted in another sad-looking eighth turning up on a side plate. Starters were good but definitely not worth the hour they took to turn up (after nearly an hour waiting to order). Not sure how this business is still solvent. Edit: thanks for the prompt response during I’m sure busy service. This was as agonising meal which tested the patience. Not sure the chicken was the main point of my review but to be specific the chicken only became a supreme once both parts were delivered (separately, after prompting) to form a leg and a breast. As I said, starters were good. Mains were fine, subject to chicken portionage, but had lost a lot of goodwill by the time we got them. Maybe better on a Tuesday.
