Shocking rude violent staff inc bar staff! Such a shocking experience I would avoid this establishment. We had to call the police against the door staff as they assaulted us and physically through us out violently.

Great for sport great value and great service, pizza 2 for 1 on Thursdays and two big screen, darts and pool

Very impressed with the food here. Had steak and chips, weak was cooked perfectly and was tender and tasty. Sweet potato fries crisp and excellent value too.

We stopped for our first Guinness in Ireland here. Great atmosphere and very friendly bartenders. We loved the shamrock art they poured into our pints. We’ll be back to finish our Game of Thrones Doors tour.

Hemos sido asiduos en el Blake durante años ahora y siempre que es broma fuente constante de decepción. Es un pub sólida para el fútbol o un rápido juego de pool (si el dragón slayers no he reservado la trastienda en un sábado/domingo y childishly rechazar para que pueda tocar. . . ). Our family visited this pub for dinner, we were able to get fish and chips for our son and an unusual sandwich with beets, haloumi, baba ganoush and roasted tomatoes for my husband and I. An option for sweet potatoes fries was nice.

Uno de mis amigos, aunque ordenados 3 cervezas y el caballero que él asumió que iba a pagar en una sola transacción, sin embargo, al ser servido él le preguntó si podía pagar en efectivo y dos cervezas por una tarjeta. El caballero que él parecía estresado y molesto porque él respondió "no para mí de nuevo! ". My friend and I attended an event in the function room. We left feeling very unimpressed with most aspects of the pub. To start with, it didn't smell very nice. There were very few staff and service was slow. We didn't even attempt to get a second drink. A block was put on food orders and they refused to serve cocktails despite the cocktail advertisement at the bar. The room was unbearably hot, to the point where we considered leaving early. This event could have been a real money maker for the pub but they didn't seem to have the staff or the inclination. One positive was the price of the drinks but this doesn't make up for the rest of the experience.

The music was extremely loud, despite this being a pub where you should be able to talk with friends. When I asked one of the staff if they could turn it down, she couldn’t hear me! After repeating it, she said to speak to the manager, even though I didn’t know who the manager was. It was clear she couldn’t be bothered. The music was never turned down.

We visited to eat before returning home after a superb weekend in London placed our order and waited. We ordered 4 meals 2 arrived together the 3rd a few minutes later and when we asked where the forth meal was apparently that particular dish had run out but no one had told us. By the time we had been told there was no forth meal 2 of our party were halfway through their meals ... Decided to have money back as we had a train to catch... I had to ask for an apology ! Really poor, no communication between the staff plenty of better places to choose to eat in London would not risk going back !!

On arrivé dans ce pub ambiance de folie du monde à foison cool on va passer une bonne soirée ! Étant un repas organisé nous n'avons pas choisi le menu et pour le coup nous avons été plus que surpris ! Salade composée 3 feuilles de salade 2 morceaux de poivrons et une demi rondelle de concombre sans sauce ! Plat : poulet chasseur ! Je ne sais pas si on a eu le lapin ou le chasseur ! Un vulgaire filet sec enrobé de jambon fumé accompagné de petit pois transgéniques et 5 frites ! Et en dessert gâteau au chocolat décongelés ! Même le serveur nous avoues que c'était inacceptable ! Bref vraiment déçu car pour ce qui est de l'ambiance rien à redire !

The William Blake is a great pub with great food and staff. My friends and I booked this place for a Xmas party and we had a lovely experience. I have returned to the pub a few times after that and all visits was very pleasant.

Took my family for a quick lunch. Food was dry and cold wish I ordered the burger as the table next to me had one and it was the only decent looking bit of food in the pub. Would come for a drink but wouldn't be returning for food. Staff was friendly but what looked like the manager was sitting at the bar drinking.

Notre hôtel le Thistle city barbican nous avait réservé le repas du soir au "William Blake". Nous avons été enchantés par le cadre feutré, l'ambiance, la décoration et le service.Le personnel est au petit soin tant pour le restaurant que pour le bar, ils sont à l'écoute et très patients suite à la barrière de la langue;Nous avons adorés je le recommande chaudement en plus le jour de notre visite il y avait un match de foot c'était top l'ambiance et pas dans l’excès. We usually go next door to The Masque Haunt, and saw the menu outside and noticed 30% off Monday! We thought lets ask and check it because there is always a catch! Went to the bar asked the UNHAPPY lady and said is it 30% off she replied "Yes" I ordered the food and I noticed it wasn't 30% off my bill went back to be told it stops at a certain time!! what annoyed me is she said yes to the say its 30% off!!! Also the food was not the best. Go next door!!

Came to the pub with a couple of friends and was served by a young blonde girl who was the most stuck up and rudest person with the worst hygiene you could ever imagine, my chips were still frozen and the glasses still had lipstick marks on them, toilet paper all over the floor in the bathroom, and sticky tables, I think they really need to reconsider the management team in this pub, it's gone downhill in my books. Never again.

Decent pub with a good selection of pub style food for reasonable prices. The place is big so my go-to place for large groups for informal drinks. Try the platter, it's huge. Also do a good value lunch meal deal.

A five-star review for a traditional pub may seem overly generous, but this is a great place to spend a Sunday afternoon. Prices are fair, the service is efficient, the food is excellent and the sports coverage is outstanding with loads of HD TVs mounted high on the walls. We visit the William Blake every time we're in Shoreditch, and we'd recommend it to anyone who enjoys watching live sport with a few pints and some good food (the nachos are particularly impressive).

Io e la mia ragazza siamo stati al William Blake per cena, entrambi abbiamo preso lo steak pie con verdure e purè, accompagnati da una pinta di London Pride. Tutto veramente buono, ero scettico ma mi sono dovuto ricredere. Unica nota stonata, il tavolino era appiccicoso, sicuramente da della birra versata in precedenza.

Fuimos para ver una semifinal de champions, y teniendo en cuenta que no jugaba ningún equipo inglés, la experiencia fue muy buena. El ambiente era genial, los precios no son ninguna locura, teniendo en cuenta lo que es Londres. El personal es todo lo amable que se puede ser cuando el pub está literalmente a tope. Tienen una zona con sofas muy comodos que invitan a quedarse allí más tiempo del realmente necesario.

Typical Pub with many TV large screens so customers to watch football matches etc.If you go for burgers and beer its a great place with lots of fun. Dont focus on other dishes .For youngsters andfootball funs its a must.

Even for a 'spoons-type venue you would expect better. The Menu looks fantastic but is very misleading. Dry, plain and overcooked. Even the burger bun was burnt. Hoping for a cheap, cheerful work lunch but the price is not much less than near by restaurants.

I went in after passing on my way to work various times. After eating here it's a pub that has a good selection of beers but the food is a after thought. The food I received was over cooked and looked thrown together. I would go back for a beer but never for food as there was only two tables in at the time.

I stayed in London for four days and we ended up in this pub every night. They have lovely cocktails and very friendly staff. We ate dinner here on our last night and they had a good enough range to suit my cousin who is vegetarian we also noticed that that were plenty of offers on which is good for anyone on a budget. Yes it can be loud but in my experience so are most pubs so that didn't bother us.

Went to the pub with friends for some food and drinks. Ordered a chicken burger and chips, chicken was't very hot and was raw inside. When I complained I was told that it couldn't be raw as it's pre-cooked and then reheated on the grill. After I told them to take my food away as I wouldn't be eating it, they then offered me something else. If food is pre-cooked it should be clearly stated on the menu.. And at least cooked all the way through!

been here a couple of times. It is a better atmosphere than the weatherspoons next door but a bit on the pricey side (compared to spoons otherwise it is quiet standard price for London I imagine). haven't eaten here yet but the food menu looks decent. Looking forward to trying the food next time I am there.

There are so many lovely pubs and bars around old street, I cannot understand why anyone would frequent this place or its neighbor.

There are lots of screens in this huge pub so, if you are looking for a venue near Old Street where they don't run out of space, don't miss the William Blake.On the contrary, desserts were worth the low £3 price tag: I have never tasted such a tasteless custard on a bad apple crumble pie. Frozen bland ice cream and okish chocolate cake disappointed my friend too.Be advised of the blind spots for free Cloud Wi-Fi and O2 3g on the back of the pub (where there is the projector screen / pool table).

Another gem in the City if you’re looking for a lunchtime meal and drink offer, burger and a drink for £10 including an upgrade to bacon/cheese, large patty, large wine. From passing you wouldn’t realise the tardis like nature of this pub, it’s in the minority in that it still feels like a proper pub, it hasn’t had the gastro overhaul.

We this item this pub around 4:30pm for a roast dinner, when ordering at the bar I requested extra gravy and crispier roast potatoes. When the meal arrived I got what I asked for, my plate was empty and my stomach full, having been washed down with a nice pint. There is live football so it can get busy on a Sunday.

I felt very comfortable despite being a solo female in what is obviously a sports pub but the very rare friendly type! Barman was polite and helpful, plenty of choice, and the half pizza half superfoods salad was perfect.

It would appear that this pub serves a different form of bargain meal most days of the week. We hit the 50% off deal on Mondays but there are other deals and I see on the web that this very London city pub is up for a Burns deal during the last half of January to help expat Scots celebrate their national poet, no doubt. The burger one of us had was OK and my shepherd's pie in individual white enamel ashet passed muster and was quite satisfactory. Best of all was the choice of beers. Pleasant enough then all round and fun staff behind the bar.

Visiting in London from America. Was told that they have very good fish and chips. The meal's appearance was appetizing however the chips were bland as was the fish. I ordered a diet coke and the bar maid proceeded to poor a glass of soda from the bar tap (which was regular cola). After paying I asked for a receipt and saw we were charged for item we hadn't ordered nor received.

I once threw a kettle over this pub...what have you ever done?Came here with a few friends from the university of life...place was full of bloody students but still managed to have a good time. The classic combo was one of God's gifts to humanity and the closest thing I have ever experienced to pure satisfaction...and I read a book a week so I know all about that. Science...science and nature...basically everything on the trivia board.I've got an IQ of 142 and I'm a bloody good rep so I know a good combo when I see one. Beer was good...what's your tipple? Me...lager, Brent...lager, Gareth...lager sometimes cider. Cheap wine too...el vino did flow.

On Monday my friend and I popped in for dinner,Monday's they offer 50% off food.I attempted to order one of the 3 steak dishes on the menu,the guy said sorry no steaks so I went for the gammon instead,this was meant to come with some salad and a portobello mushroom and chips.As I can't eat potato I asked if I could just have some extra salad instead,the meal came to us with mash potatoes and a quarter of a portobello mushrooms,I told the guy I asked for no potato but salad..he said it's not chips it's mash,I had to explain that it was still a potato to begin with,the gammon was just thick with fat all around the meat and very very dry,even with 50% discount it wasn't worth the money,2nd time I've eaten here and not getting any better

big pub with good value food selection of beer is ok but not the best in the area. if you want a decent pint and some food with no fuss then this is as good as anywhere. no real reason to look further

I have been coming in on several occasions as I work nearby and my favourite days are Mondays (half price food!) and Fridays, when the place turns into a real party venue with a live DJ and all. The crowd is very mixed between young and old, hipsters, locals and working men but the atmosphere is always good. Some of the staff definitely stand out to some of the others - whilst some are extremely helpful, friendly and attentive, others doesn't really seem to care too much.Food is good, not great.. but that's what you can expect from a chain pub i suppose. Worth the money though.Can recommend this place, especially for a "pre-party" on a Friday before heading to the much more expensive Shoreditch bars.

My mate and I had a pleasant time watching the football and having a meal/drink at The William Blake, which is several minutes walk from Old Street tube station;- It was clean, spacious and had the right amount of atmosphere without being overcrowded;- Food was tasty and relatively inexpensive;- Staff were friendly and attentive; and- Booked in advance and was given a table right next to the TVWell done - will return again!

Il pub è un tipico/normale pub inglese, bello grande, con una discreta fornitura di birra ma anche di vino, sidro, liquori, ecc. Si mangia abbastanza bene con porzioni nella media: abbiamo preso un "Ultimate burger" (classico hamburger con patate) ed un "Rump steak" (bistecca con funghi e pomodorini). Assaggiata una real ale non male. Il pub dispone di schermi per vedere sport in diretta (fondamentalmente, calcio e rugby). Servizio cortese, tipico britannico. I went here with a friend of mine and we had a really good meal. We both ordered steak and they were both cooked how we had requested, which granted seems like it should be a given everywhere but the amount of times I've asked for a steak well done and it has come out bloody is unreal! They mixed up a request for no mushrooms but as it was based on dislike and not an allergy, we just moved them on to the other plate. The garlic bread I had was a bit hard but tasted nice. For dessert I had a salted caramel bar thing which was lovely. They had some really good deals on for buy one get one free desserts.

Had the wings based on previous reviews and were very nice, bit fiery but they are described as having a Tabasco sauce so there's your warning, but not too hot for me just right. Great offers throughout the week, best being 50% off all food on a Monday. I'm in!! :-))

been to this pub three times on different visits to London, good food good range of real ales and lagers, several tv,s, showing sports, pool table, occasional live music, good location close to old st tube station.

It's part of the Wetherspoons chain, but it certainly has more atmosphere than a typical Wetherspoons. Prices are the usual £2.30-£3.50 for a pint. There were a few cask ales along with numerous lagers and spirits. It's quite large, which is a bit eerie when it's not crowded. It's right next to Old Street tube station, so a decent enough place for a quick and inexpensive pint if you're using that tube stop.

Lovely dinner. Magic atmosphere and real food. No crappy takeaways... Real Meat with real beers. Wine available as well.

When travelling I prefer to find independent places to eat preferably ones who source their food locally. The William Blake didn't look like a chain but unfortunately their menu has the same food that you can find in pubs up and down the country. It was good food but is probably delivered ready made to be just popped in the oven on demand.Obviously a popular place as it was very busy.

Stayed at an apartment just across the street form this pub in December of 2014. Often it was the last pint on the way home after a long day sight seeing in London. Pleasant local pub with friendly staff and friendly local patrons. But the wings are great!

Oh gosh.. What's wrong with people sometimes?! The food here is a joke.. Luke warm sandwiches, fluffy "chips" and flat beer.. Not good at all..

Fourth time we have been in here and the fourth excellent Steak ...really like this pub as its comfy and cosy and Mains are good.....wasn't over impressed with the dessert we had Caramel and cinnamon cake with vanilla frosting and ice cream it had been slung through a microwave making it so chewy it was all but inedible and causing the frosting to split and go grainy we didn't have desserts on visits two and three and wouldn't bother again but the Steaks are worth going for alone and the onion rings are lovely nice and crispy and beer battered with the beer of the week which I also had to drink...very nice.....you can also get a bottle of Hardy's Riddle wine for under twelve quid ....good prices....we sit in the raised window and watch the world go by ...bliss

And yes, another chain....Blake is interred a few blocks away in the Bunhill Burial Fields. You could walk a meal off paying a visit to the real William Blake. I vowed, "No burgers, no shakes" as the wheels of the Triple Seven threw a spray of water from the tarmac of Heathrow 5. Baffled and disappointed by pub food at this point of the journey, and simply burger-crazed, Sweet D ordered one here. I had the open faced chicken pie. We share food, tasting each other's dishes, swapping commentary. This was the best pub pie I ate on the journey, and the last. However, D's char-grilled burger was excellent. Outstanding job William Blake. The burger gets you 4 dots instead of 3. Service was fast and friendly. This place is a cavern, stretching west to ??? The music on Halloween was loud enough to make dining difficult to enjoy and the crickets in me ears to chirp louder. I'd return for breakfast or lunch. Management might not be trying so hard to stir up a fun time for customers.

Very large pub on Old Street, full of large screens great for watching sport in the evening. The bar is very long with a good range of drinks on offer. There is a decent food menu - the burgers are good, particulary the Mexican Burger.There are a few tables to sit down and eat at, separate from the bar.

My friend did say he preferred waitress service to having to order at the bar and then finding the food cold while he queue for the next drink. Having said that the food is good basic both in price and quality and great sections of the place for cosy chats, So it gets my vote.

We ate here the early evening of the London marathon as I fancied some pub grub. My partner I I ordered our food. My partner ordered the fish pie, when it arrived the potato on top was cold, on closer inspection the prawns in the middle were raw. We sent the food back only to wait another half hour for the replacement by which time I had long finished my meal. This time the pie was so over cooked all the fish instead was hard and rubbery. Although the staff were apologetic no refund or discount offered. Even more concerning is that I contacted the brewery Stonegate via their website to complain, and never even had a response. I won't be returning.
