Staff are so nice and friendly and helpful food is good and the price of the beer is good

If you are a recovering alcoholic, this is the place for you. Just order on the app when the estimated wait time is 5 minutes for a drink. It'll be 25 minutes or more, then walk to the bar and wait for at least 7 people to get served before being acknowledged. Dire service. What's the point in ordering via app if they prioritise anyone that walks to the bar before even looking at the screen? I'd rather pay for a real pub. Food is standard 'Spoons fare though. Edit: just visited the "toilets"... Although someone had signed the check, a few minutes beforehand, they obviously just walked in and signed it - piss on the floor, and clogged cubicles. Edit 2: the table next to ours was vacated over half an hour ago, and still had not been cleaned of empty glasses/plates. I won't be returning.

It's ok food was good service was fair

Always a stop off with my daughter and grandchildren if we're hungry. The service is very good along with the food. It can get really noisy in there but it's to be expected. They could make their fire door at the back less noisy as it's consistently banging shut with people going out for a smoke 😊

A nice spoons with distinctive red and black colouring in the front with some outdoor seating there as well. A decent sized bar down the right hand side as you enter and a long walk straight to the back of the pub. There was plenty of space to move around in when I was there and the bar staff were a blast to chat to. The breakfast was the typical 'spoons fare - just what the doctor ordered and the Guinness was excellent (there's even a Guinness plaque inside) - just what the doctor didn't order! Oh well.

Rude staff, tables were dirty and sticky. I was greeted by what looked like woman dressing up for cosplay couloir hair looks like a pixie, I ordered on the app and fair enough she asked me for id I told her to take the drink away I just want food and she was just looking to argue, didn’t offer me a refund or anything to try and kick out another waitress sniggered when I asked for water another waitress impolitely ”get it yourself “ it didn’t come across politely atall we didn’t get a check up on our food or nothing no respect I was happy to swap my manager refused

Staff are great. Well done to them for being nice. It's not an outstanding witherspoon, many have much nicer buildings, but it does the trick if you want a good value meal or a drink with friendly people.

Shop in Lidl then pop across the road for ginger beer.

Typical Wetherspoon Pub. Good choice of beer on this occasion. Although pub was packed service was very quick again. Just had the one pint of my normal. Beer still has an odd taste. Think again that it's coming to end of barrel?? Decided to try and get another pint of beer but different make. This one was ok. A very quick visit to this branch of Wetherspoons. Not sure if I will be using it again before end of the year?

Met for breakfast. Small breakfast great value just for a stop gap. Refillable tea and coffee 😍. Very clean and very busy. The male toilets were flooded and dirty apparently which let the visit down

If you like being served by people with lots of tattoos then this is the place for you.

Eat here regularly as they have a good range of reasonably priced food and drinks. Really like the Real Ale restivals. Generally pleasant and friendly, but occasionally gets a bit noisy and sometimes rowdy.

We arrived into Portsmouth late and needed some food. We have been avoiding Weatherspoons due to the terrible way staff were treated in the pandemic, but broke that just foe one day. Its what you would expect. Food was quick. Not glamourous but very edible. Staff were nice. Not our first choice for food but it was good.

Had spicy chicken wings with salad/ onion rings. Wings were really dry, salad tasteless and had a bit of bacon in it ! And onion rings vile, soggy, soft and full of grease. Really disappointed.

Really bad layout, very loud due to lack of furniture or anything to absorb the sound, super understaffed

Was very well look after by hannah made sure we had good seating arrangements to suit our big party.... food was perfect and service was 10/10 thank you to all members of staff 👌

One of my favourite Spoon's We all know not to expect the best food in the world but after a week long knees up at the big G festival with it's overpriced food and small portions a mixed grill and a pint of shippy for about a tenner helped get me right back on track. A post festi visit has actually become a bit of a tradition. Along with a new pair of Vans from ye old Clarks village next door.

Usual Spoons, staff really friendly, but best of all, 5 mins from the Ferryport! By something before in Lidl opposite and their car park is free for 90 minutes, after scanning your receipt and entering your number plate.

Can't rate food as disgusting cold not even offered a refund bacon dry beans cold and only just opened how's a country supposed to run an breakfasts like that and coffee disgusting also

Good value, quick service Coffee top ups.

Staff are lovely. Food is always hot and well presented. Any issues are rectified quickly. However the stench in and around the disabled toilets is vomit inducing. Many patrons leave the door open which means people see it as an easier option than walking up stairs.

Great service from their staff, this is one thing Wetherspoons do well, very well in fact. Their sausage and egg muffin is far superior to anything McD has to offer, plus unlimited Lavaza coffee for £1.59. BTW they sell a great selection of craft ales too.

Cheap food and drinks but low quality comparing tonother weatherspoons. The atmosphere was not pleasant and the place was quite dirty smellong of beer at 12pm.

I never had food thus cannot score it but the service and atmosphere was great.

Service was perfect and barstaff were very nice. There was this lady with dark hair that works at the bar during the day and she was very polite, quick and efficient. She seemed to handle the customers well. Food was very good and came out quickly. I would recommend limiting some who come in and drink all day as they become a health and safety risk for customers. One in particular harrassed me while i was there and i had to speak wuth him outside as he was very intoxicated. This made me feel very uncomfortable and i do not drink but I do enjoy coming in for cofee and brunch if i happen to be local. I will come visit again. Many thanks x

Only gone on reviews because usually l have nothing to complain about BUT today coldes day ever the heating yet again not working ; which usually is unfortunate BUT this happens every year regularly ; everyone drinking in coats & hats; terrible mr spoons sort it out once & for all !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Not a bad place like a Pub... to sit and have a drink with friends. But it's not cheap. :)))

I have to say this is one of the best Wetherspoons I have visited for food. I was down on a course in Portsmouth and had said to myself I will have a different place for eating each night, but I ended up coming to the Sir John Baker each night, the food was always well cooked and presented. I'm a chef to trade and its obvious you have a good team of chefs in your kitchen. Even though it was really busy at times the standard never dropped. Also all the bar staff were hard working and very friendly. So thank you all.

Skinny burger which, when paired with a zero sugar soft drink comes in at only 369 kcal and it costs £4.99. Fast service too. Great lunch destination!

Always lovely, fast service and food in here. The waitress with the short blonde bob and glasses is especially efficient and is a credit to the company.

This was a lovely pub to go for drinking, with vibes echoing Portsmouth's harbour history! The frames on the wall are ancient, staff were friendly and counter is well-presented. Outdoor seating is fantastic, where me and my friend both had a refreshing Kopparberg!

The best thing about Wetherspoons is you always know what you're going to get. This venue is no exception, food comes out fast, cheap prices, nothing to dislike!

The very few staff working here were doing their best to try and please customers. I had a short wait for my Shipyard and knew that it would happen. Fair play to the young female bartender, Hannah or Anna.

This was my first time of going into a pub let alone a Wetherspoons by myself. I had a Chicken melt with mash potato and peas with a cola. They were quite quick to take my order and bring my food to the table. I wasn't 100% impressed with the mash but the rest of food was fine.

Recommended. A very traditional style pub, in good order. Value for money full English breakfast, and as many top-ups if your tea as you want. Excellent service (quiet at 9.30am!). How do they do it?

Was OK but not great, went for the special offer with the fish and chips, but got charged the full price. Same old story advertise one price and charge the full price hopefully the customer will not notice 🤔

Much improved although staff seemed run off their feet. Most Food items seemed available. Beer selection ok but goes very quickly so the app ale finder is not always up to date. Staff however always helpful and give good advise.

Was there to meet someone. Only had a coffee. For that, I went to the bar and paid what I think was the cheapest in town. I was given a cup to serve myself and told that I could help myself to a refill. 2 coffees for under £3, I was impressed. Service was very friendly. Will go again.

Chips came out stone cold talked to the bar staff was told to go find a waiter no one around so whent back to the bar can you please call someone no I'm busy i don't serve food this was all with attitude so I basically walked in to there kitchen to complian safe to say I would never come here again not even for a drink

We were in this pub on a recent visit to Portsmouth, when we helped an elderly lady with a walking frame to a seat, we asked at the bar if someone could assist her with a food order. Staff were very good coming to the table to take the lady's order,not only serving her and one particular young lady (member of staff) spending time with her,well done to the staff very friendly and efficient.

Good standard suburban 'spoons. Handy if you're in the area and want an affable (and affordable) pint before 15:00.

This pub is run by a small number of foul mouthed locals, management are useless. food good but not nice eating in this atmosphere no wonder weatherspoons is loosing money, when I remember the Very high standards it used to have , very sad.

Great staff and good atmosphere, with mainly locals, who are on the whole, friendly. Stock levels well maintained (a short coming of many Spoons). Decor could be refreshed, hence dropping one star. Food is as all Wetherspoons, so you know what to expect for delivery time and quality (which, in my opinion, is good for the cost).

Great! My family and I visited for lunch with children of a weekday. The staff were very friendly and helpful and we found seating for several high chairs and room for prams. Food was great and the drinks were cold. Staff were also very helpful with putting one of the children's meals in a doggy bag. Would go back!

Went for breakfast for my friends 70th birthday. If l had been on my own l would have complained the food was all cold. Hardly any beans. Bacon was dry and cold. The only good thing was the toast and that’s because l like it cold.
