The Sir Charles Napier in Brighton and Hove

Just come there for trying another pub in this main road and can say sadly, it's a not a good choice....sticky, smelly bad, beer it's tasty,, shity,, not much welcoming if you are not part of this,, bar seating everyday customers,, so, highly not recommended..

It was like walking into the League of Gentleman - everyone turns to see who is walking in - it is OK just a bit clicky with lots of regulars

Went to a charity quiz night and it was packed, so probably not representative of a regular night here. Excellent beer and comfortable pub without big screens etc. proper pub!

5 of us had a roast dinner in there yesterday (Sunday) great value awesome roast spuds will definitely be going back again 😁

Taking place every Sunday night, quiz master David Potter throws out questions over a broad range of subjects that will have you wishing you had studied harder at school! Great, quirky pub too, with a warm welcome and fine selection of beers. Thoroughly recommended.

Good choice of affordable beer, warm welcome friendly staff & clientele with a chatty atmosphere. Thai food & the Sunday roasts are lovely. Great little sun trap beer garden too! The best of the few traditional boozers left in Hanover.

One of my favourite places to go out for drinks! Staff are really lovely and Buddy the dog is cute :)

Thai food is freshly made and tastes wonderful

Called in to eat the Thai menu looked good but the food we had surpassed all expectations divine amazing best Thai food ever eaten will be back the ales and ciders on tap top notch too all in all probably the best Thai food in brighton 👍5***^

Used to be a lovely old fashioned pub. The landlord is now too busy with the racing rather than what the punters want. Grumpy Aussie with attitude. Bar staff don't know their ales from their Gin

Went unacknowledged by the solitary bartender. Like the Slaughtered Lamb when I went in, 3 men all watching horse racing like it’s their front room (no one else, just them, but the other side has no seats). A real shame, as it used to be so lovely. I hope those 3 guys pay you well, because no one else wants to go in while they’re holding court and watching their cruel ‘sport’ and making snide comments.

Great pub for a couple pints of Guinness.

No masks worn by staff, no table service, except by the landlord because we sat waiting for a bar tender. He wasn't actually working he was at the nxt table with a mate, talking horse racing and downing pints. The chef came and asked us did we want to order something to eat. It's Indian so spicy. The chef was masked incidentally, food good, not a lot of it but good at £5 it wasn't bad.

Wonderful roast at the Napier it was marvellous, it was quiet in there but I don't think people know how good the roast is there

It's a pub that still seems very much like a pub. If you understand that you may choose to go. If you don't you're probably rather young and may be confused by it

It's a bit of a climb, but they serve some well kept ale and if you fancy a Thai bite than this is a lovely old specimen of the sadly disappearing English pub to eat in in. Thai in a traditional pub, an odd mix that works, make mine a pint, cheers.

Love this pub. It's a proper old Hanover pub with the most wonderful Thai food you could hope to get from the poshest restaurant at amazing prices. Please don't go there. I always want to be able to find a seat for me and my friends and family 😋

Super friendly staff and locals. Good beers. Food was good but not brilliant. To be fair it was very, very busy.

A popular local for Hanover residents. Sells a good selection of real ale. Currently has Thai food on the menu and it is excellent and suitable for vegetarians. I was there last night and a the meal was delicious, well presented and really good value. Highly recommended food.

Great pub that is suprisingly spacious. Good company and very friendly I would highly recommend to anyone in Hanover or from anywhere else in Brighton and Hove. The landlord, Dermot is a great host and the food is to die for. Unique pub with a unique name and has been around for centuries. Well worth a visit.

It's become a dump simple as that. It's lost it's direction most regulars, ourselves included, have moved elsewhere to where there's a bit of life and not just an empty bar. It used to be good as a local family/community pub but the past year or so has completely lost it's soul. Thank goodness there are other bars in the area that makes you feel you belong. Owners take note, that's if you care.
