Lovely friendly pub with great bar staff and a cosy fire - also really well decorated for Halloween. Well worth a visit, we will be back!

What a wonderful experience drinking in this pub by the old harbour. Laurie the barmaid was so friendly and welcoming. The bar is like time has stopped. I tried a local whisky and was given a free taste of two more. We had a great evening.

This is a fine local pub with a lovely location, but that's all. Someone really should update this page, as they haven't done food for a long time and there were a few hungry folk left wanting when we were there.

Popped in for a quick drink before our travels and was glad we did. Nice traditional pub. Landlady was a bit quite at first but when she got talking..... This was a great thing! Very informative and we would not have realised about the Peaky blinders and Whisky galore location if it wasn't for her!! Would loved to have stayed for another but didn't have the time!

We were in Portsoy for two nights and went in here for a drink. The bar isn’t pretentious, it’s nothing special. However the service was great, friendly and how it should be. We did encounter a local who probably had one too many but again nothing unpleasant. A well run wee pub. Hopefully we can go back.

Just had a couple of days in Portsoy and participated in a few drinks in the Shore the staff were friendly and there was a good selection of beers and spirits available. The shore really epitomises a proper boozer, there’s nothing fancy about it but that really adds to the charm.

We stayed nearby in Cornhill and came out for a New Year’s Day beach walk. Incredible scenery but far too cold to enjoy it with a family. We found the Shore Inn open, which was a godsend and the landlady could not have been more welcoming and hospitable, she brought a heater to our table to warm us up and warm Ribena for the kids, lollipops and games to keep them amused. We enjoyed beer, and crisps in a true Scottish pub with warm friendly hospitality on a cold January day, who could ask for more. Happy new year!!

Dropped by for a quick couple, barmaid and locals were friendly. Just the one ale, Windswept APA was on, am usually wary of this as it suggests not enough throughput but my fears were allayed as it was in top condition. Lovely fire which pleased...

Ocupado, ambiente acogedor con estufa de leña, tv y música. Lo recomiendo sin duda. El edificio necesita algo de atención de mantenimiento.

We read about the Shore Inn in a magazine in our holiday cottage. There it said that the Inn was under new management with a new cook and was serving excellent food. When we went in there was no food available, in fact the kitchen was closed and the interior was nothing like what was described in the mag.Having said that, the pub is an excellent place to meet the locals. It is very old worldy - the gents toilet comes out of the nineteen fifties and looks like it hasn't been cleaned since then. Anyone who likes thier pubs to be as they were seventy years ago will love this place.

If you find yourselves in Portsoy, and looking for something to eat, your options are somewhat limited. As you see on this website there are only a few establishments that will offer anything. The Shore Inn was our second choice as the Beggars Belief was fully booked , I have an idea why now! Back to The Shore Inn, it's a quaint low ceiling local pub that does food, that seemed a promising place to start. When we asked for the menu we were given a stained photocopy of what was on offer, not a good start. The food we had, local haddock and chips, was barely average. It wasn't that it looked very busy, in fact quite quiet for a Friday night, but the fish looked like it had just been dropped on the plate without letting it drain some of the oil off, resulting in a lot of messy oil mixing with the very basic salad which sat alongside a few, and I mean a few chips. This is not Harry Ramsdens fare. I find it difficult to work out how such a simple meal, which when done well is a delight could be so poor.

The food was awful, undercooked and over priced. the thrice cooked duck in plum and ginger sauce was not thrice cooked and piling the cooked plums on it to cover the lack of thrice cooking just did not work. The fresh Fish was swimming - in cooking oil, the salmon was in half cooked pastry the corn on the cob were covered in rancid butter all in all not very nice place to visit. Dirty tables and a poor overworked waitress with the bar maid nipping out for a cig should of warned us but no! the food had previously been great and home cooked. Now it is a dingy dim little place with a dim menu wont be going back

We consider the Shories our 'local' on our trips to Portsoy. Sometimes busy, sometimes quiet, always friendly and welcoming and used by both local people and tourists. It's an great place to sit outside with a drink and enjoy the view of the harbour on a sunny day, and warm and cosy inside on a winter evening. We had some excellent scampi for lunch on our most recent visit. They also have live music some weekends, when it gets very busy but with a great atmosphere.

we holidayed in nearby Cullen and stumbled across the Shore Inn by accident when we were out exploring. The weather was lovely during our stay in July/August 2014 so we made a few stops on the way "home" to have a quick drink, which we drank outside, on either the benches provided by the Inn or on the public benches at the harbour. A lovely place.I drove while my husband had a beer or 2 and the prices were excellent - my soft drink (soda water and lime) was 50p!

My husband and I were exploring the coast and ended up in Portsoy at lunchtime. We saw the sign for the pub at the harbour which said no food served Monday or Wednesday then we remembered it was TUESDAY! Hooray!Great little pub - no frills or fancies, a proper village pub for the locals and passersby. We peeled off our layers (it was January and it was windy and COLD!) and settled down by the fire to thaw out. Lovely! The beer was good and we ordered the Cullen Skink - delicious! Just what was needed. It looked as though several locals were eating there - always a good sign - and the other food looked really nice. I would certainly eat here again if I was in the area and I would not hesitate to recommend it to others.

We made an impromptu visit after walking along the beautiful seashore to the east and west of Portsoy. There were 9 of us and were given a very warm welcome and they even made up a long table so we could all sit together rather than on seperate tables. The food arrived promptly, and everyones meal arrived at the same time so no one was waiting for their food. The waitress was friendly and helpful and easily explained local dishes to some of the internationals in our little group. The food was excellent. The sea food was fresh and cooked perfectly. There were even local ales available on tap at the bar for those of us not driving. All in all, do not be put off by the weather beaten outside of the pub, inside it is warm and welcoming and everyone was very friendly.

The chippy is just up the road from us but we probably only pop in to get chips once a month to go with a meal we are making. The chips are always good these days, as is the service and the staff are really helpful. On more than one occasion I’ve seen them going above and beyond to help out a member of the public. Also really pleased to see the phasing-out of polystyrene trays and plastic bags in favour of paper and cardboard over the last few years. Fish could always be bigger but you could say that about any chippy these days and the last few fish I’ve had have been really good. Highly recommended.

Good things : This cafe is in a great location and offers plenty of seating outside which is ideal for those with dogs. Not so good things : The coffee was ok although pricey for the size of cup. Cakes were nice enough, but had too much buttercream icing. Bad things : The layout of the tables inside is a bit congested. The volume and choice of music appears to be for the benefit of the staff because we, and those around us at other tables, to raise our voices to have a conversation.
