My wife and I were in London for our daughter’s wedding. We had checked into our hotel just off Liverpool Street with her two Aunties and around 5 o clock we went out looking for a pub to visit . We passed a couple but then found The Astronomer and so glad we did. It was busy but we managed to find somewhere to sit and was quickly served at the bar.’ We were soon joined by my other daughter , hubby and our two grandchildren. We stayed for about an hour and half before leaving.’ Highly recommended if you are in this part of. London.

Where do I start……we were very much looking forward to a lovely Sunday roast, we were told there where not many bookings and to sit anywhere which was red flag no.1, when the food came it looked so unappetising my partner didn’t even touch it, every thing looked old under cooked or overcooked…so that’s red flag no. 2 my beef was supposed to be served pink but came out like a sole of a shoe and absorbed the little gravy that it came with like a thirsty horse. So that’s red flag no.3 Theu did t ask us why we hadn’t eat any of our food, didn’t take any thing off the bill so we boxed it up and gave it to a homeless man. Side note we went to the Lightbar just down the road and we ordered pretty the much the same food and drink and ii was not only was thousand times better service/food and atmosphere it was cheaper!

This used to be one of my favourite pubs. The recent renovation has destroyed all the old character and it is just another anonymous bar. Worse the management has taken the really delicious and wondrous pies off the menu. The menu is now dull, the food boring and horribly overpriced. What on earth did pub management think they were doing? I shall definitely not be back.

My friend & I booked a table here for a long overdue catch-up & Liverpool Street is central for us both. What a nice surprise. It's very nicely appointed. Really quirky decor & great art on the walls. We were served promptly but given as much time as we needed to order. We both had roast beef with yummy Yorkshire pudding & all the trimmings. My friend asked for extra gravy & that was not a problem. We both finished our plates & it was all really tasty. We both agreed the food could have been a tab hotter. Apart from that, fabulous. Would come again!

Really enjoyed this place and was made to feel really welcome. Would highly recommend the expresso martinis - they are amongst the best I have ever had. I just wish they served more bar food / nibbles as they would have gone down well without buying a big meal.

Stopped here as two couples. The general ambience of the pub is similar to a Wetherspoons. So fairly basic and functional. Not your quaint pub. Thing that lets this place down is the slow service which was exacerbated by inattentive bar staff who didn’t seem to be either switched on or that interested in their job of giving people good service. There are many better pubs in the area.

This Fullers pub has become a traditional annual meeting point for some school friends and I before going to a nearby curry house. It's only five minutes walk from Liverpool Street station too. With a well designed interior based on its namesake the amicable staff are upbeat and courteous. We have only ever had drinks in there so cannot comment on food menu. A large selection of decent ales is available besides London Pride and major lagers / ciders.

Looked inviting from the outside and inside was comfortable, from the prices on the menu we was looking forward to a good meal. Firstly we received a flat coke, we was offered an alternative which we was happy to accept but the state of the chicken schnitzel was not acceptable, I wouldn’t of fed it to my dog! It very obvious wasn’t fresh, had been reheated and was so tough we couldn’t even cut through it. You now have to pay upfront via the app when you order, so we didn’t even have the option to refuse to pay for it and when mentioned it to a staff member there was no offer of a refund or replacement/alternative.

Visité este pub el viernes 18 de septiembre de 2020 después de un largo tiempo fuera y, como comparto el mismo apellido con la habitación de abajo, ¡en el pasado pedí un descarado descuento! :)Esta es la primera vez que vuelvo desde COVID y llegué con dos amigos a primera hora de la tarde. Tienen a alguien sentado en la puerta pidiéndole que desinfecte y que haga Track and Trace.Decidimos quedarnos dentro y un par de veces mis compañeros se pusieron de pie, pero les dijeron que se sentaran para mantener los pasillos vacíos, muy impresionados. También escuché al gerente decirle a uno de sus empleados que saliera para recordarle a un grupo de personas de más de 6 que se alejaran unos de otros. Desafortunadamente, uno de mis compañeros se cayó de su taburete en un punto desde cierta altura y, aunque no estaba gravemente herido, el personal corrió y le ofreció un poco de hielo para la parte posterior de la cabeza.Este pub siempre ha sido uno de mis favoritos (¡no solo por la conexión del nombre!) Y fue bueno ver que no solo estaba bastante ocupado, sino que el pub se estaba tomando en serio sus responsabilidades de COVID.No estoy previsto que vuelva a Londres hasta el año que viene, pero cuando lo esté, estoy seguro de que volveré.

Traditional cuisine with great ale, and / or fabulous mini pies or mixed plates, all served in a trendy pub setting. Well thought out commentary and pictures frame an interesting musical, life motto, and astrological theme. We had a very welcome, comfortable, lengthy stay; to eat, drink and be merry, playing card games with the family.

Went for a cheeky lunchtime bev and a bit of grub! Menu is massively deceiving, it looks decent and lures you in with lots of tasty looking options and seemed like good value. I went for the 4 plates for £18 deal and my word, I felt like I had been robbed. The peanut bang bang chicken was like some dry sliced packet chicken from tesco, the wings tasted like they had been cooked a week ago, the scotch egg was over cooked and drier than the desert and the bbq brisket tacos had some tangy after taste that I likened to a sweaty shoe.The service was utterly pathetic as well which didn't help my mood. Guys seriously, there are sooooo many decent lunch options in the area! AVOID THE ASTRONOMER AT ALL COSTS!!!

Siendo un viernes por la noche, supongo que estábamos escondidos para tratar de encontrar un pub tranquilo en esta parte de la ciudad (Bishopsgate). Finalmente nos topamos con "El Astrónomo" y, a pesar de que estaban haciendo un gran negocio, encontramos una gran mesa circular en la que dos mujeres maduras estaban sentadas y felices de compartir. Sin embargo, no hay indicio de una conversación, oh, bueno.De todos modos, comencé con la cerveza Fullers ESB (Extra Special Bitter) mientras mi compañero de bebida se apegaba a grandes vasos de vino blanco seco. Finalmente, las encantadoras damas nos dejaron habiéndonos ignorado exitosamente y estudiadamente toda la noche. Estaba buscando un lugar para mi fiesta de cumpleaños número 50 que estaba cerca de la estación de Liverpool Street. Vi este lugar en el verano de 2019 con solo un día. Came here in the way to the London Steakhouse for dinner (very close). We reserved a table downstairs where there is more seating and a small bar. Great pub, good atmosphere.

Before visiting this pub I would have said to anyone you can't go wrong with a Fuller's pub. Obviously you can. Unwelcoming and poor quality ale..

Denna fina pub har en Jöttefin resturanglokal med egna skinnsoffor bås .Personalen är trevlig och service inriktad .Menyn är bra med många alternativ .Vi tog in flera smårätter och delade på som var väldigt goda .Vi blev väldigt nöjda med denna resturangen /puben .

Sarà perché eravamo affamati ma il locale ci ha riservato ottime birre e ottime pietanze. I PiE sono eccezionali da non perdere. Il locale è moderno (non old style) ma efficace.

Work Xmas lunch: very nice food, good quality real ale, and excellent service from Stephanie. Recommended.

I went in with a friend for a Lunchtime drink, and we found this pub to be very welcoming and interesting to be in. We did not have Lunch although it did look nice.

Visited for a quick lunch meeting - very tasty chicken pie with an excellent pint of bitter! Good menu, nice decor and great location near to Liverpool Street station.

There was a queue at the front door when we got there but we used the side door and got straight in. Very nice decor and staff were friendly. Varied selection on tap and plenty of seating. Must have the smallest toilet I've seen for a pub this size.

Had lunch here. Just around the corner from Liverpool Street station for a beer and a sandwich before going on. Typical pub grub, good selection of beer and I would recommend the club sandwich, London prices but probably worth it. Good service and good food.

We go to London once or twice a month and its a toss up between here and the Wetherspoons across the road. The food here is good and varied and ranges from breakfast or dinner, to even fish and chips. A pleasant place with nice people and much more relaxing than the other pubs around. No complaints.

Great place, to us a typical English pub. We loved the atmosphere and their items they offered. We had some drinks.

I’ve come to this pub with two friends for a couple of beers after work. We decided to order 2 portions of the halloumi fries...very disappointed. We received only one plate with a handful of skinny halloumi fries on it. I went to enquiry with the staff and they told me they’ve put both portions on the same plate...that was £10 for literally 13 skinny fries. Plus, you couldn’t even taste the halloumi as it tasted more like oily, burnt breading. Again, terrible... that’s a. shame cause the pub itself is very nice.

Went there to try their pie. Ordered the Traditional East End meat pie which was minced beef in a meaty gravy but a little too salty. The crust was a little thick but tasty, served with mushy peas, triple-cooked chips (or mash) and an herb butter sauce. Peas were ok. The chips were definitely not triple-cooked, still pale in colour and not really crispy. Saw another table with sweet potato chips or veg instead of the chips. The herb sauce was confusing but a little on the pie smoothed the flavour a bit. Their recommendation of the Fuller’s ESB matched the pie well.

Visited here early evening, nice service nice drinks nice surroundings. Usual fullers high standards spot on.

If near Liverpool Street station I would highly recommend The Astronomer it's a great find, the staff are very friendly and helpful. They make you feel very welcome. This place is dog friendly so paws are also welcome. Our dog was very happy to just relax under the table.

We had haddock and chips with vegetables which my partner said was ok, and a vegetarian pie and mash with gravy which was great but unsure if gravy the pie. Overall a good meal and courteous staff, and nice and quiet I would think other evenings are very busy and noisy. Decor is great and cant fault the cleanliness.

Looking for a meeting place we chose The Astronomer not far from Liverpool Street station. It was extremely busy. The beer east very good so much so we stayed for food. The downstairs room is much more quiet and sociable. We all ordered pie and vegetables, all different and all very much enjoyed, will definitely return.

Nice little Fuller's pub just off Bishopsgate. Beer is up to scratch and so is the food. Nice little room downstairs with a great atmos. Last word? Yes the toilets are clean and tidy - well who can ask for more.

Visité este pub en 3 ocasiones, el personal fue muy amable y servicial. Buena selección de vinos y comida. Muy interesantemente decorado. Los baños de damas estaban limpios y bien mantenidos. Puede ocuparse, sentarse afuera con mesas y sillas. Recomendaría este pub y volveré cuando esté en Londres.

Un pub avec bien sur son style anglais mais avec une originalité... son thème : l'astronomie !! Avec ca hubble roomm , sa décoration digne de nostradamus ... son télescope..et aussi sa musique éclectique qui rend ce pub aussi original que jamais .

Io e il mio compagno siamo stati in questo spettacolo di locale per un aperitivo ( un po' lungo) ed eravamo quasi tentati di darci alla "cena liquida" in quanto la selezione di birre è ampia e tutta da scoprire! Personale giovane, svelto, dinamico. Buona musica. Il pub è suggestivo e sembra di essere nella torre di qualche osservatore del cielo, davvero molto carino!

Enjoyed the shoulder of lamb pie. Just one of a selection of traditional pies from the menu. Smart pub, clean and good service. Nice for a quick pit stop.

Called in just in time to order food from the excellent pie menu. Very tasty selection of mini pies and very good beer

Bar service excellent and drinks are affordable, will be having food at the astronomer next time I visit. The staff are friendly and welcoming and it's a nice place to have a drink outside in the summer.

Typical Fuller’s pub so nothing to write home about. The bar service was poor, disinterested, the bar staff were too busy chatting to each other to interact with me(the only customer at the bar) made me feel as if I was an inconvenience . Would not recommend

Attended a private function here for approx 100 people. Great location and seating / floor space. Nice nibbles and friendly staff - overall a good business networking or social space.

Decent pub tucked away a stones throw from Liverpool St Station. Easy to get to, busy but not rammed, with reasonable prices. Bit of an old fashioned pub, so rather quaint!

Hubby and I visited this pub whilst on an evening out. We dropped in here as we were early for a meal which was just around the corner. Good selection of beers but the large white wine at over 7 pound a glass (and it wasn't even NZ) but French was a bit over the top. Popped downstairs to the loo and saw the small bar which looked nice and cosy. Unfortunately the loos did smell quite bad which I know is sometimes out of the control of the pub when they are located under the pub but it was a bit off putting and I was glad we weren't seated downstairs near the exit to the stairs.

Had a beer in here, and looked around, great theme and will have to pop back another time when the downstairs astronomer room is open.

We bought 4 tequilas per person, drank it in one hour, and nothing happened. It tasted like water, had an effect of half a glass of wine and this all on an EMPTY stomach. I would spend your 30 pound on going to the exhibition of Space Shifters and a bottle of wine, which will bring you to the clouds where you can see the space in a different kind of perspective. Tip to Astronomer: please get real tequila!

Attended a private function at The Astronomer and found it to be quite nice. The waitstaff filled out orders promptly, their various pie offerings were great and the pricing quite reasonable. Definitely will return.

Went for a private function in the room downstairs, ordered the same drinks upstairs and downstairs,each time charged different price. The staff upstairs seemed to have no idea on what drinks they sold, we'd ask for a certain gin or rum to be told sorry we don't have that, which was strange cause that's what we'd had the last time and could see it on the shelf, hit the order wtongva few times also.

Nice pub with lots of seating and in warmer months a crowd standing outside. Sometimes you get table service, but it's a bit hit and miss. Good beer selection, good menu with some interesting dishes including tapas style small plates...but the main attraction is the pies. Superb, wonderul pies! Mash, gravy or liqueur and veg and a big proper pie with pastry all round. Lots of filling options and all delicious. Yum!

Located in a fantastic area of London, this is an excellent pub, great food, superb pint, ample seating and friendly staff, worth a visit.

Visited twice during our weekend in London.once in afternoon when they have tables outside which is a rarity in the area. Called in on Saturday night, nice feel about it, busy but not crowded Food looked good as well

Not far from Liverpool Street Station. Had a lovely relaxed afternoon drink and meal with friends. All meals were excellent with 'clean' plates to go back to the kitchen! Left at 6ish and noticed that pub was beginning to get full - proof surely of a popular venue.

Prebooked party of three. Table was available half an hour early so had a drink. All of us went for pie options with mash or triple cooked chips. Very tasty and good portions. Service was very friendly and efficient. We were not rushed but table was serviced efficiently. Nice vibe and location.

Unfortunately everything we ordered was way too salty. If we could have tasted the food it might have been decent. Beer and wine was good. Staff were friendly and welcoming.

The Astronomer Pub is not far from the Bishop's Gate Exit of Liverpool Street Station. Very busy Pub on a Friday with a relaxed vibe. Love the decor and friendly staff.

We hosted our daughter's 30th (celestial themed) birthday party downstairs in The Hubble Room at The Astronomer on Saturday - and what a fabulous experience it was! I'd been to the pub before for a work Board Meeting, and had a chance to check out the venue, but from (bitter!) experience, you never really can tell how well things will run, regardless of the great decor... but I needn't have worried on this occasion!

We enjoyed a 'Steak and Ale' Pie Lunch in this Pub very recently and it did not disappoint both taste and price wise. The location on Middlesex Street is very historic and the atmosphere is extremely pleasant - very close to Liverpool St Station.

Este es otro buen Fullers pub donde puedes conseguir un pastel sabroso. A todo el grupo tenía una tarta y todos nos sentimos satisfechos. El tamaño justo, con una buena parte de su valor turã stico puré. Salsa era fabuloso. Algunos de nosotros tuvimos un postre pero me arrepentí porque era demasiado. El ruibarbo y natillas aunque parecía fabuloso.

Buena primera parada en Londres, nos bajamos del metro en la estación de Liverpool, y esto está a la vuelta de la esquina (o 2) Hay un montón de opciones (tuve tarta tarta del día). También tenía alas de pollo y una ensalada. Todos eran buenos y sabrosos. Personal muy amable y un buen servicio. El lugar era bastante vacío (también es bastante grande). Muy bien equipada. Una buena selección de cervezas.

Lovely burger, but the crumble was dry and quite disappointing! We would return, however, as the staff were simple excellent.

Dined with some old friends, most of us choose the pies which were lovely, one person chose a goats cheese salad and was served the hazelnut one instead. Three of us made the mistake of ordering the apple "and blackberry", which had no blackberries, little apple and a topping made from crushed biscuits rather than crumble. Avoid this dessert, it was not nice!

También tenía un postre budín que era pegajoso toffees sabroso. El precio era razonable para 3 personas y sin duda volveré.

Este es el primer lugar que fuimos después de llegar a Londres. Tanto el ambiente y la comida eran verdaderamente estelar! Yo comeré de nuevo la próxima vez que esté en la ciudad.

Went in today for a drink and was served by a guy in a scarf who looked throughly disinterested and miserable. During the whole “Service” the only words uttered were the price. No smile. Nothing.

Went to the Astronomer with three friends, for dinner one day and for lunch on another. The fish and chips dinner was delicious, with a hearty serving of fish that was nice and flaky. My friends had the mini pies for lunch and said they were excellent; I found my sandwich (ham and cheese) on the dry side but decent. The sticky toffee pudding was fantastic, we were determined to have it on our trip and the Astronomer did a great job of it. Prices are typical of a London restaurant, so mid-range for the area. The décor is very cool, but our meals were slightly spoiled by the lilies placed around the room, which gave off a very strong and somewhat unpleasant scent.

Realmente encantador pub con un montón de espacio sin perder la sensación agradable. No tuvimos oportunidad de probar la comida, pero nos habríamos hecho si no estábamos comiendo en otro lugar. El personal era genial y la cerveza como a mí me gusta. Algunas opciones interesantes.

Fuimos al astrónomo con un equipo de alrededor de 12 personas. Habíamos pedido el menú del almuerzo de Navidad. El servicio era excelente, la comida era excelente (que pensaba que para poner el relleno de cebolla y salvia en un pastel? I booked a table for 8 people for our Christmas Day out. On the website the Christmas menu looked really nice and we have been previously to another Fullers pub and really enjoyed it. What a disappointment when we arrived to find nothing at all Christmassy and that the menu was not available as we hadn’t pre ordered it! We could easily have done this if it had been clearly stated either when I booked on the telephone or by e mail.

E' un locale abbastanza caotico, frequentato da tantissima gente anche solo per una birra, ma a parer mio il pezzo forte sono le pie!! Ne abbiamo assaggiate due diverse ed erano una più buona dell'altra, oltre che super sazianti...vengono tutte servite accompagnate da un'ottima salsina.

Good range of beers and about half a dozen real ales and within easy reach of Liverpool Street station. The pies looked filling and tempting but we stuck to the ales and white wine.

Extremt bra urval av öl, främst Fuller’s egna förstås. Njutbart och mer än prisvärt. Passa på att äta också, pajerna är utmärkta och för den som vill finns en smakbricka med tre av de bästa pajerna samt tre goda ölsorter.

Excellent eggs with hollandaise sauce. Wish I lived closer to visit again in the evening! Loved the decoration, and amazing tiled floor.

We were staying just around the corner and decided The Astronomer looked like an easy choice for drinks and dinner. We found the staff really welcoming, loved the ambience and managed to share a table with some friendly clients in the upstairs bar. The staff let us sample the beers before deciding which we wanted - perfect. We’d booked a table for dinner downstairs and after descending to the basement we found ourselves falling in love with The Astronomer even more. Interesting decor in keeping with the pubs themes, a cosy booth, very tempting menu and decent prices for food and wine made it a super choice. Our food was great, nothing was too much trouble and we managed to get a heap of work done too! Would definitely visit The Astronomer again, it sprinkled some stardust at the end of a very long day and left us feeling happy, sated and maybe just a tiny bit intoxicated ;-)

Have been here before.. main bar area is standard stuff but there is a hidden pub in the basement.. that's quite an attraction dedicated to the stalwarts of astronomy Galileo, Copernicus, Newton, Ptolemy and all.. an antique telescope accentuates the ambience even further.. I always have london pride beer here.. and if you love sweet potatoes, then try sweet potato chips.. Recommended

We came here as part of a tour group we were on. We were seated in the lower level which was perfect for our group.

Nos detuvimos en una pinta y un budín negro en este magnífico entorno. Sólo un gran lugar para estar, y todo el tiempo del mundo para cerrar el rumor de la calle Liverpool. Todo el personal era amable y atento.

Went down to petticoat lane market on Sunday and went to this lively pub for a pint of beer it's a beautiful pub situated right in the middle of this busy market it's a good place to relax a bit
