Tried to eat at the St. John’s wood location today. The worst restaurant experience I can remember. Party of 2 - we ordered our mains, no appetizers. Drinks didn’t arrive after 20 minutes, so we reordered them and then they arrived. After an hour’s wait (no bread given mind you to keep you going), the hostess came out to apologize to us. I thought the food would be forthcoming after that. After another half an hour (90 minutes total wait now), still no food. So I asked the hostess what was going on. She again apologized but said the food would still be at least half an hour more. The restaurant was not that busy. I could have gone to the kitchen myself and cooked the food in 10 minutes. So we walked out without having eaten anything. I was absolutely shocked. No offer to come in for a free meal. No offer of complimentary desserts or wine. Nothing. I’ve never had someone tell me that my food will be half an hour more after already waiting 90 minutes. I’d have to expected at that point she’d be down in the kitchen cooking herself. Appalling. Rude. Stay away. Horrible excuse for a restaurant.

I use to come to that restaurant for over 15 years. Unfortunately it’s really changed. Such a rude management! I didn’t want to eat there as food not good at all and came for dinks before dinner. I being offended the sit first, but when I wanted to order the lady came, who told she is a manager and told I can’t order there drinks without food. I am regular in the place and this never happened to me before. I explain that I am already sitting and i need just 20 min to finish drink. However she told its instructions of the owner and I have to get up and leave if I am not eating. All tables next to mane head the conversation and was supporting me and told this lady “manager” is really unprofessional and rude. If restaurant made such a rule, they should’ve inform person before, not to ask her to get out of her sit. One customer told she is in restaurant business and she thinks such behaviour is unacceptable. However even after everyone supported me and ask manager to let me stay for drink, she still insisted me to leave. I left and will never come back, not for food nor drinks. The bottom of the line; rude unprofessional and stubborn management, disrespectful to customers, bad food. Only location is good, local to me, however better to find new place.

My husband and I paid over £108 for one of THE WORST meals we have ever had in London, let alone in Knightsbridge. The atmosphere was awful. The staff clearly hate their jobs, the waiters speak aggressively to each other, and unless you look rich you are basically ignored. We ordered the lobster linguine and crab linguine. Both dishes were undercooked, chewy and boiled with NO sauce and no flavour, and the seafood was smelly and certainly not fresh. It was as if the food been slopped onto the plate by a 10 year old: tasteless, bland and most likely defrosted, for which the restaurant charged £39 per plate! When we complained to the server she simply said, "Sorry, I will let the kitchen know," and then proceeded to charge us the full amount INCLUDING service charge!!!! It was very clear she was used to hearing such complaints and therefore did nothing at all to appease us. I wrote a complaint to the manager Tatiana and was ignored for 3 weeks. Then when I phones in, the "boss" Kenneth Anderson came on the phone and without so much as asking me my name announced: "We won't be refunding you any money because you said our food was disgusting. You're unbelievably rude to say so." He then proceeded to say that as nobody else had ever complained about their food (yeah right!!!!!!) he didn't care that it didn't meet our personal standards. Wow... SHOCKING and INFURIATING lack of regard for customers, absolute daylight robbery and zero accountability. Mr Anderson is one of the most dismissive, aggressive, belligerent men I have ever had the misfortune of speaking to. I ended up left in tears at how utterly dismissive he was. Be warned: Motcombs are all smiles and polite when taking your money but become very devilish when it comes to handing a penny back. What a shame Mr Anderson has singlehandedly ruined the reputation of this once loved establishment.

Having been a local for some 15 years. So disappointed with the new and rude ownership. Been often but continuously treated appallingly. This restaurant is now sadly just set up to rip you off as a one for off out of town visitor. Keep away! There are so many other nice restaurants nearby (Harry’s, Clap (recommend) even Harrods is better value as they offer better food and ambiance (frozen rubbish here at M!) and even better pricing by far (the prices are a rip off just to cater for the one off visitors!) and far better ambiance to be had. Try the others you will not be disappointed as on your behalf we sadly had to go through the awful experience of Motcombs! It’s simply a set up to rip you off as a one off visitor! So take heed and beware! Needs a new ownership which likely will not be too long with the way they are presently running this low quality equivalent of an overpriced cafe!

If you love sitting crushed up with a TV practically on top of you and your bags on the wet street floor whilst you listen to 5 staff chatting then this is the place for you. Expect to be ignored when asking for the bill. The service charge on the bill is laughable for an establishment with no aspect of service.

It is not my first time in Motcombs, but today i was astonished by the dover sole fish recommended by Mehdi, he is an amazing waiter, friendly and i always go by his recommendations. Food is excellent, staff are really friendly and their cook has definitely the Mediterranean taste in every dish she cooks. Great place on a nice weather day for drinks and starters, or for a nice lunch or dinner in a nice atmosphere.

Flaked Cornish crab is served in a vaguely Asian manner with slices of red chilli and slivers of spring onion, and borne aloft on a boat-shaped curve of fried bread so that it looks like a float in a parade. Veal Milanese, meanwhile, comes topped with spaghetti in tomato sauce, like something you might serve at home when you realise that there’s nothing else in the cupboard, only to be pleasantly surprised by the unexpected success of the finished product.

Me and my friend came to have lunch at this “restaurant”.. The restaurant was almost empty, and only around 3 tables were occupied outside. I ordered the food I wanted(a burger, truffle fries and orange juice), but my friend wasn’t hungry, so she asked for some tea- The waiter looked at her and said “ you are not going to eat anything? You need to order something to eat!” She replied with” but I’m not hungry, I don’t want to order anything “ to what the waiter said “ you can’t sit here without eating, we are really busy right now,sorry but it’s business love”. WE WERE SHOCKED! First of all the restaurant was not busy at all, and second of all - how could you ever say something like that to your customers?? We go to this restaurant on the regular basis, but from now on we lost interest in it. Very upsetting and disappointing.

I had visited Motcombs Belgravia last summer for a businessmeeting, and it was a delightful experience from start to finish. Despite only ordering the Dover sole, I was thoroughly impressed by the quality and taste of the dish. The fish was cooked to perfection, with a delicate flavor. The outdoor seating area, which provided a lovely ambiance, especially during the summer months. The setting was perfect for enjoying a leisurely lunch and soaking in some UV rays. For a quick lunch, I impressed by the delicious food & charming atmosphere!

I came here with my husband and friends for a celebration and we had the most wonderful dinner! The ambience is fantastic, the music choices are impeccable and the food was absolutely delicious. The service was outstanding, Medi our waiter was an absolute joy and nothing was a problem for him. We had 3 courses and there was a great variety of options. My husband really enjoyed the selection from the wine list. For starters, I had the crispy courgette thins, which were cooked and seasoned to perfection. My husband had the French Onion Soup which he said tasted Parisian. For the mains, I had the Belgravia Burger which dare I say it, is THE BEST burger in the whole of London! I am already planning my next trip for that burger! My husband had the dover sole which was extremely generously portioned and delicious. For desert, a Baked Alaska which is flambéed and mouth watering. My husband had a chocolate bomb which was heavenly. I couldn't recommend Motcombs enough, the ambience, food and service is a 10/10. I truly don't understand why there are negative reviews here, as according to our friend who recommended it, it is always very busy (which frankly says a lot) and it is now one of our new favourite restaurants.

I want to start by saying I very rarely leave negitave reviews for restaurant. The food could only be described as mediocre at best and was absolutely not worth the almost £80 we were charged for only TWO small plates and some water. The food that I received was not only sub par but fell apart when I simply picked it up. When I told out waitress, she responded with a largely disinterested “it is how it is” response. The food we ordered was only worth £40 and they added an extra 40 for a single bottle of water and stale bread. This place is all cosmetic features with no real quality. In my recommendation you’d be better off buying dinner from harrods for a fraction of the cost.

What an amazing find in the heart of upmarket belgravia - outstanding variety of beautifully presented dishes , served 8 of us , no glass empty and the staff could not have been more helpful with service costs spillages! And anything . I highly recommend if you want to eat outside or inside with fluffy furs with hot chocolate to rest during manic Xmas shopping , bravo motcombs we will ALL be back.

We went for dinner with friends and the service was the worst. We go there for the food and ambiance but every time we go we get treated not very well by the staff. They just say if don’t like it then don’t come. And every time we asked to exclude the service charge when the service is actually bad they get annoyed and ask you to never come again.

Fairly standard brasserie style restaurant. Food is quite pleasant and the ambience is good, but in the centre of London's Little Arabia and priced accordingly, probably 25% more than similar places nearby in Hans Place or Sloane Square. Service was good and staff were helpful, but the owner is dreadfully rude, so make sure you don't over stay your allotted 90 minutes!

We stopped here because the outside area look inviting and cosy with the heaters and sheepskin throws. We were a party of 4 and were seated promptly. In reality it was quite cramped both with customers and servers. The menu looked great, a good mix of things to choose from. We had starters, the Arancini was very good as was the hummus and breads. Our mains came and they looked great however we’re very bland. All in all it was ok.

Extremely rude, racist, & bad service. I ended up not even eating & just left. With a place being located in knightsbridge wouldn’t recommend being so cheap about hiring more staff(at least if you’re cheap about hiring staff, hire two good ones). Theres literally only two waiters one Asian & one lady & they are very rude & they ignore you. Last visit will never try again. They have a Moroccan manager who is also disrespectful 0/10 if you want to get offended give them a visit.

- Food was okay, however manager was very very rude! The service was standard but the toilets were unpleasantly dirty and smelly. For a high end restaurant this isn’t to be expected. Had to wait very long for our food and waiter was not helpful - When refusing to pay service charge the manager seemed overly persistent and was very rude. Would not recommend going.

Went here because my friends invited me and had never been before. Had a fantastic lunch. A great atmosphere and the staff were very hospitable. We were given the private room, which was nice. I had the warm goats cheese salad, my go to as I love goats cheese and like to test places out on this when I see it on the menu. It was fantastic, the perfect consistency and warmth and a satisfying crunch from the crouton. Perhaps could have some sun-dried tomatoes to compliment it. Was recommended the Shepherds pie by the lovely manageress which was substantial and delicious. The wine list had a great variety of affordable and special treats. Enjoyed a few bottles! Overall we all thoroughly enjoyed our experience. Will definitely come back for many more.

VERY RUDE STAFF THAT DOES NOT SPEAK ENGLISH. I switched tables because my seat was too close to the heater. The table I wanted was available, the restaurant wasn’t crowded, waiters were notified. The manager (elderly man) asked me what I was doing and I merely notified him that I am changing my table. He did not understand what I said and LOUDLY and RUDELY told me that I SHOULD GO HOME if I don’t like heaters. Unacceptable, rude behavior. Staff needs to be trained on how to communicate with guests. Will not return.

I was hosting an important business lunch at the Motcomb on the terrace. after two hours I approached the door to go inside to pay the bill and use the men’s facilities. I was challenged in a very loud, aggressive manner in front of other guests and staff by the owner/manager who was sitting 2 tables away from the door and didn’t recognise I was a client. i am a person of colour, both my fellow, guests who are white, were not similarly challenged on going inside to use the loo earlier. Also I ordered a medium rare Sirloin Steak that was over cooked, but I didn't want to make an issue at the time in front of my guests. A very uncomfortable experience. I won’t be returning after that awful experience.

Disgustingly racist staff and customers. It took me a very long time to find this place online but I finally did since I think this review is needed. First off, I was a solo South Asian-American female traveler and it was pouring rain outside. There were groups of white customers who came AFTER me and they kept getting warmly invited in and seated before me. Then the man seating people finally had no choice but to notice me, since I was the only one left and completely soaked (I had no umbrella), and seated me inside. I was at a table and the waitress glared at me and told me to go to another table and that I couldn't sit there, so I moved tables. There was a woman (customer) staring at me, pointing, laughing, and smirking at me nonstop. It made me super uncomfortable and I kept trying to block my face with the menu but she persisted. Then the original man who seated me rudely said "you have to sit over there" and pointed back to the table the other waitress told me to leave. With the combination of all these rude people, I left without even eating and the customer woman laughed at me on the way out. Disgusting people, would not recommend to go here. They will dehumanize anyone who isn't white and treat you like a dog. They deserve zero stars if I could.

My partner got bad food poisoning here. He ordered the salmon and thought it was the miso sauce but in fact the salmon wasn’t very fresh or hadn’t been refrigerated. Two hours after we left he felt very unwell. He threw up everything from lunch. We won’t be returning ever again to Motcombs. They need to review their, refrigeration and food handling as something in the kitchen is not right.

The bar is located inside Selfriges. It offer a nice spot for a coffe or a tea while visiting Selfriges. Nice and friendly staff.

Although I didn't stay long because I was meeting up with some people the atmosphere and the surface I got was great I didn't stay off any of the room so I can't really rates that there's a downstairs on an upstairs and there's also an outside area the outside area isn't very big but it tends to be a lot for people who are either smoking and also I guess when we went it was raining they also have a live band I don't know if it's everyday but we came on the Friday and they were doing a live band on the Friday however I enjoyed the overall experience when I was there prices wise how to say it's about average like most pubs and bars are

My absolute favourite pub in Angel! This is a quiet haven to decompress and read after a stressful day at work, and a regular stop for me on the way home. It has a very warm, relaxed, and welcoming atmosphere, and the staff is always exceptionally friendly and nice. It’s a nice and warm escape in the winter, and for hot summer days, they have a beautiful hidden garden in the back to seek refuge from direct sunlight and the scorching heat. Without doubt the loveliest place to spend an evening in the area (and arguably, in London)!
