The Shire Grill in Warwick

Been there a couple of times..food is okay , but service is not up to mark ( just witnessed today). Despite table booking , it was allotted almost a delay of 45 mins. The table was not cleaned well Food ordering and then getting on the table took a whole lot of followups. Dal Makhani served was quite sweet, egg fried rice was not fluffy, but bit hard.The non-veg platter was ok along with Naan. Surprised, they would have anticipated there will be rush today on account of Friday and 14 Feb, should have prepared themselves. My earlier experience were not so bad. Appreciate the staff passing on discount, but it cannot compensate for not good experience... Hence staying at 2 stars.

Super tasty lamb dishes 😋 and vegetarian options too ! Absolutely loved it ❤️ and will come back for it . My mum came from France to visit me and Absolutely loved the lamb 😍 Highly recommend it! Had many Christmas parties with my bhangra dance team and we always had a fantastic time , great food and service and bhrangra dance ambiance. We rented the outdoor marquee last year had a super awesome party ! Thank you Shire Grill for your awesome food , awesome staff and great live music 🎶 !

Shire Grill exceeded all expectations! I recently organized a party for 15 people, and everything—from the food to the atmosphere—was absolutely perfect. Their mixed grill is hands down the best I’ve had, packed with flavor and cooked to perfection. The ambiance is warm and welcoming, making it a great spot for families and large gatherings. On top of that, their cocktail selection is fantastic! The staff was incredibly attentive, ensuring our group was well taken care of throughout the evening. Everyone left happy and satisfied. Terrible experience. Despite booking a table well in advance, we had to wait 20 minutes upon arrival. The starter took an hour to be served, and the staff was extremely rude. The place was chaotic, and I wouldn't recommend it to anyone. Giving one star only because there's no option for less.

The worst restaurant, I have been to. Went there for Valentine dinner with my family. Even after having a reservation, the table was not ready when we reached and had to wait. Order for starters took 1 hr to come, frustrated with service we left and only thing restaurant staff offered was a discount !.

What what a lovely little Gem of a place. We attended a friend's 21st in a marquee at the side of the building. The Butter Chicken was mouthwatering along with some lovely homemade Naan Bread. This was surpassed by a Lamb Bhuna that was popped in front of me, and boy was I glad they did. It was so good I'm still thinking about it the next day. We then moved into the main bar where the Bar Staff were such good fun we just ended up laughing most of the night. Really affordable , great food and great staff. What more can you ask for.! Thanks for a great night

We celebrated our twins' 3rd birthday here, and it was amazing! 🎉 Everyone loved the food and had a great time. The staff is really nice and attentive. I definitely recommend the vegetarian food—it's absolutely delicious! 😋

Reasonable prices with good portion sizes. The menu has recently been updated, and there’s a noticeable improvement in some dishes! The servers and bar staff are very friendly, ensuring your food is prepared promptly. If your group is larger than four, it’s a good idea to call ahead, as it can get quite busy, especially on weekends.

We used to visit this place often, but sadly, it has declined recently. On our most recent visit, a group at the bar was using extremely foul language, (including the C word) clearly audible to a family with a young child. While the bar manager did address it, the behavior continued, and no further action was taken. The curries, once a highlight, now taste bland no better than a supermarket microwave meal. Despite noticing its decline over the past few months, we decided to give it another chance, but this visit confirmed we won’t be returning. The atmosphere was unpleasant, and the food was disappointing. It feels like the place is trying to be something it’s not. Bring back the original chef and management, and return to the authentic experience that made this place great.

Had my nieces 18th birthday for 20 people, excellent food and service from start to finish.

Went on Saturday evening. The whole place was very busy but we'll organised. All staff were professional and attentive. We were seated quickly and once ordered the food came on time and it was excellent. Drinks were brought to the table frequently. The atmosphere was really vibrant with background music. We stayed for drinks right through till 10 30 . We'll done guys the place looks great. Food very good too. See you again soon

Friendly pub, atmosphere is really good, staff are helpful and friendly, food is amazing. Live music is on Friday and Saturday evenings. Great takeaway menu.

The starter grills were good but the main course was all not that good across the menu. Please see if it can be improved. I am not the customer who went at 9pm and i don't know when I became rude . I am one of the guest of a party gathering. Thanks. Will visit starters again.

Had bad experience with party order. I have booked and paid full amount in advance for my son birthday but one day before the party they called and said our staff is new and he charged you less so you need to pay double the price we agreed. This is very disappointing and unprofessional behaviour, they should groom the staff so customer should not suffer at last moment.

Had a lovely lunch here today we opted for the Indian menu lamb jalfrazi and butter chicken freshly cooked with tender meat. My personal favourites keema and peshawar Naan freshly cooked fluffy over all a delicious meal. Also like the way the place is disable freindly.

My family and I had food at the shire grill. We were a bit nervous as my 10 year old is an extremely picky eater. It was her first time trying Indian food and she devoured the butter chicken and nann. I have been to quite a few Indian restaurants and this was by far the best. Great atmosphere ,staff were friendly, attentive and great with kids. We will definitely be back as it’s my daughter’s favorite restaurant now.

One of the most disgusting meals I’ve ever had delivered . Ordered a medium mixed grill for nearly £17 . What an absolute joke . Minimal food and overcooked . Photos to follow . The homemade Punjabi lamb was literally as good as a dolmio spaghetti bolognese from a jar . Absolute rank . Just to top it off , I pulled a long hair out of my mouth when I ate a gol gappeh . This meal cost £65.87 between two of us . Would never use this mediocre establishment ever again. Absolute naff food unless you like mediocre hairy curry . The white bowl is the medium mixed grill for £17 I’d be ashamed to sell that for £17 . Go to the soho tavern in Henley in Arden or Birmingham and see what a mixed grill is supposed to look like . And to see what authentic curry is supposed to taste like !

Excellent and very reasonably priced Indian food, the indo-chinese chilli dishes (fish, chicken, paneer) were delicious and staff asked about spice levels for the other dishes we ordered and the chef adjusted as per request. Lots of vegetarian options too which is great to see. Recommended.

You can see this place is in the mist of being taken over. There are renovations happening outside and is a little dated inside. Reading some of the recent reviews we were nearly put off. Read the menu and wasn't sure, so started searching on google for nearby restaurants. But, then....Some food came out for a table next to us. It smelt and looked amazing! So glad we stayed, it was actually beautifully cooked. Everything you want from an Indian mixed grill. (We shared a mixed grill and had some Naan bread and extra chops) Bill came to £50 with 2 drinks for 2 people. I would say it's worth a try.

Pathetic food and loads of oil...literally left the food half eaten and had complained but no one bothered...the restaurant also stinked. No second visit ever

We have been to The Shire Grill a number of times and this place does not disappoint! We went again yesterday to celebrate husbands and littles birthday! We all went and had the best time! The food, service and staff were absolutely fantastic - definitely recommend this place! Thanks again to the team!

Hair in food which is extremely unhygienic and gross, leads to the question of what hair nets the chefs wear. Food was cold and bland. Instead of chutney they gave Pani Puri water.

Superb experience, 3 old mates went in for the largest Shire Mixed Grill to share, couldn’t eat it all it was huge and excellent value for money, The Grill, 2 Naans 4 popadums and chutney and beers for £54. Will definately be going back and very soon.

My husband and I decided to visit The Shire Grill on New Year’s Eve as a celebratory meal to end the year. The social media platforms paint this venue to be bustling and fun with boasts of great food and service. Despite making a booking online days previous, the staff looked at us dumbfounded when we arrived and didn’t have our table reserved. The server came over to take our order and rather than stand by the side of the table and write our order on his pad, he put his pad down onto the table in front of me and awkwardly leaned into my personal space whist writing the order right under my nose. I’ve never experienced this and just made me feel so uncomfortable, along with it being extremely unprofessional. The same waiter then took our drinks to the wrong table, handed them to the customer before recalling them back to bring over to us. An understandable mistake if it was busy, but there was only 3 tables dining at 7:40PM. We were given our popadom appetizers, which was closely followed by our main course plates which were plonked on the edge of the table, cutlery balanced on top. Now, I’m all for casual service but bringing the plates with the main meal is the appropriate method of service. The main course arrived and apart from the sizzling skillet of chicken tikka, everything was bland and tasteless. We were given no napkins, nor did staff did a checkback on us and I eventually had to flag a member of staff down to request napkins. A little pile of the tinest, poorest quality napkins were left on the corner of our table. The venue was heavily staffed, with the waiting staff standing by the kitchen visibly looking like they would rather be elsewhere. The crossed arms and failure to acknowledge the 3 tables makes for poor service. My husband visited the toilet and reported that only 1 out of the 4 lightbulbs worked, that the toilet was barely bolted to the ground and that it was dirty and dingy. The casual, almost non existent service aside, for the price we paid (£50), we could have dined at a much nicer Indian restaurant in town where tables are dressed with folded napkins and decor, food arrives plated or you are provided with hot warm plates, and you have attentive servers doing checkbacks. Atmosphere is also important to the feeling of a venue and this just didn’t hit the mark. The dirty wonky TVs in the booths and the loud pop music in a nearly empty building just felt very awkward. Extremely disappointing.

We had a really great evening at Shire Grill tonight. Excellent food and very attentive service. Bonus of love music too by a wonderful duo. Food is fantastic and reasonably priced too.

Great food, live music was very good

This is not a desi/punjabi place to eat. Mix grill was not good at all. No flavour, curry's were average. If you want proper punjabi food you have to travel to Bham/Wolverhampton/Coventry the likes of Grove, Soho Tavern, The crow, Red lion, Glassy Junction, Royal Oak. This place needs alot of effort to complete with similar places

Witnessed ICC world cup final India Vs Australia. So, stayed here for more than 8hrs The match is a heart break 💔 but the service and experience is awesome here. Bathrooms are pretty 🫧 clean. Great experience.

A great meal for a special birthday celebration. Quality of dishes and the right portion sizes meant it was a pretty much all consumed even though we thought we'd ordered too much. A DJ was playing a great set and although the whole ambience was a tad loud it was a great time and my husband and I thoroughly enjoyed ourselves.

I enjoy and go to a lot of mixed grill establishments around the West Midlands. To wait over 1.30hr for food to be told; sorry we have ran out of popadoms and then to see other tables in being served them was a joke. After waiting such a long time we were presented with our food which was cold. One of the Worst experience I have had to date at any restaurant. Paid for the drinks and left the restaurant

We have ordered take away a few times and eaten in once at the shire grill. First of all I would like to say that the staff and service here has always been exceptional, especially since Paul the new manager has taken over. He has made the place a much more cosy and atmospheric place to be and is hot on customer service. The food for us has been great. I am from Birmingham and find it hard to find a good curry house around here. I was happy when we came across the Shire grill as it’s the same pub/Indian layout as a place near where I used to live. The naan bread is always delicious and the curries tasty too, the chicken has always been cooked well (not dry) although the curries can be slightly on the oily side when ordering take out. If you want a spicy curry you need to ask for it to be spicy even if the curry you’re ordering is traditionally spicy. I have seen on Facebook that they now cater for vegans, as I am dairy free I am happy to know I can now enjoy my favourite popadums with a vegan mint sauce so will be back again soon to try it!

The service is always great, but the quality of the new menu was amazing. One of our group had the butter chicken naan pizza, and the was described as “expletive“ delicious. My lovely wife had a Punjabi chicken curry, also delicious and I thoroughly enjoyed the hot chicken jalfrezi, amazing. The prices are reasonable, the environment fab the music acceptable, all in all, great food at reasonable prices.

My wife and I came here for a "romantic" meal... (actually kids were at my parents' so we decided to come here). I've been a few times and enjoyed. This time was no different. Good food, lovely atmosphere (at the time we were there), and prices were as expected. Staff are friendly and professional. Can't give it a perfect score as the food, which is good, didn't have an equal variety of all the sizzlers we would like, and there were more of the lower value items, as you'd probably expect. Unlikely to come again as a couple, but more likely to go with a large group.

Food was just okay, restaurant prices, so quite expensive for a takeaway, and didn't get all the food ordered (discovered once I'd returned home). Unlikely to return for a takeaway if I'm honest as there's plenty of competition with better value for money. Visit for the occasional drink when the sun is out.
