Only had drinks, but nice place now Revisited 06.03.24 2 people serving couldn't be any better. Food great. Will go again

Came for a couple drinks, drinks were lovely had a rum then pornstar martinis which were lovely, reasonably priced, lovely staff as well, Andy was incredible, thank you Shipman’s! We will be back!

Nice to see the shipmans getting back to how it used to be now that the original incapable management team has been sent packing.

Chilled atmosphere, nice food and friendly staff. Had dinner and a couple drinks with a friend before going to the cinema. Convenient location in the centre of town. Will definitely go again.

After months of walking past and seeing the lovely food through the windows we finally managed to call in for a Sunday roast and we were definitely not disappointed. The food was excellent, well presented and served quickly. The roast beef was cooked to perfection and melted in the mouth. The staff were friendly and attentive and a special mention to Ali and Luke who made us feel welcome. Also excellent music 🎵 Would definitely recommend and we will be back.

Great customer service and fantastic food. Welcomed at the door and had three small plates for £16. Would come again! Thanks Ali for your hospitality.

Great Sunday lunch with friends, I think this is fourth time we have eaten at shipman’s since it opened and we have always enjoyed the food and ambiance. Alice was our server today and she definitely knows how to look after customers, nothing was too much trouble, thank you for a lovely afternoon.

What a lovely Sunday lunch had out this afternoon with my aunt. I booked a table on line, all very easy and asked for a table down stairs, we picked where we sat so that was great. I'd explained we needed downstairs as aunt in her early 80's and I was bringing her for a birthday treat. The staff were lovely, attentive and my aunt told them a story about my nan and great nan coming to Shipmans in the 1920's with nan sitting outside with her pop and snacks. My aunt was presented with a lovely pudding of her choice decorated with candles and happy birthday - a lovely touch and we sang happy birthday. It made her day and she thoroughly enjoyed herself - thank you Shipmans it was great and the pudding was on the house, how sweet of you!!

Food is extremely tasty ... Enjoyable place to go . The staff are really friendly. The new Manager is keen on keeping on improving the pub too . Charles

What a lovely spot for a Sunday toast. Staff can’t do enough for you, and get you the best seats near the fire. Arrive with love and heart. We had a trio of roasts and beef was our favorite. We like lashing of gravy and they were only too happy to keep it coming. Finished with biscoff cheesecake, teas and coffee. My wife loves the music so we chilled after. Thanks team. 💙

We had Sunday lunch here today, well my granddaughter had three small plates and cauliflower/brocolli cheese. Her mum had the belly of pork and I had the blade of beef. A little pricey but worth every penny as everything was cooked to perfection, the gravy was delicious and the yorkies were light and crispy. The service was also great, Allie was very warm and made sure we had a day to remember.

We had a really lovely meal here on a Sunday afternoon - a trio of roast meats followed by a superb apple strudel. Great service from Ali and the kitchen team. Thoroughly recommended.

We have been greeted and looked after by very nice staff and enjoyed our stay very much. Looks tiny from the outside but has great spaces inside.

Lovely pub in Northampton town centre, head and shoulders above the other options. Cost, great welcoming staff and a warm atmosphere. We had the Vegan veggie platter which was great. Thoroughly recommended.

Visited with a group of friends. Although the staff were friendly and helpful, the food was disappointing. It was bought out separately with a long gap in between, where people were left sitting while the others eat, which made me feel uncomfortable. It was not possible for the first people served to wait as the gap was too long. It was a Shame as it was obvious a lot of care had been taken in making the place look nice.

We visited yesterday for Sunday lunch with our middle son and daughter-in-law. Our son used to visit Shipmans in the late 90s and was interested to see what it looked like after being closed for so long. The service was helpful and pleasant, our food was delicious and there's a really nice atmosphere. Thoroughly recommended!

Stopped in for a roast dinner on the way back from an appointment. I had the slow cooked pork belly with sausage meat stuffing which was amazing. To me , the sign of how good a roast dinner is is how well the roast potatoes...

First visit for us and we popped in early evening (Sat) for pre-gig dinner and drinks. Managed to get a table after a few minutes. Have to say the food was delicious and the waiting staff very attentive. Good mix of ages and group sizes...

We came for the 80’s bottomless brunch. I’ve wanted to do one of these for months so it was perfect timing. I’m not going to lie we had a fabulous time. Alice and her team made sure our cocktails had no bottoms. Isabelle (@isasongstress) was the perfect accompaniment. The platter was delicious. We had a great time and will definitely come again. Beware when you leave it’s 7pm not 11pm 😂😂

Been several time since reopening, food, staff and cleanliness always very good. 6 us came here on Friday night to celebrate a friends birthday.We were all really impressed with the cocktails and food, the ambiance was also great, but to me most importantly was the staff were so attentive, friendly and welcoming , we’re all coming back for our Christmas party 🎉

Came back to a Shipmans for the 4th time as had been so impressed on previous visits. The lunch menu has changed and not for the better, lots of nibbles and small plates but no main meals! We ordered the skewers the servings were 2, 4 or 6 skewers, we both ordered 4 skewers but they came on two separate plates with 2 on each with side salad and pickled cabbage, why not put all 4 on one plate??Skewers were tasty. Service was v slow, I had to go and collect the menus myself and ask for the order to be taken twice, and when we were ready to leave no one brought the bill to the table, we had to go to the bar and pay. Not sure what has happened to this pub as had been excellent, dont think will be rushing back!

I like it. It's not big but it's comfortable. Staff are courteous. Decor interesting. I'm glad they renovated. The music could be better. Some folk might serve it better for the atmosphere. Less Barbie more workman.

Called in for a pint when working away, ended up eating too. Staff couldn’t do enough for us and the food was absolutely delicious. The blade of beef was exceptional and I’ll definitely be back. If you’re in the area it’s well worth a visit, great atmosphere in the pub.

Just got back from a delicious Sunday lunch at Shipman’s. The food is really great and so is the atmosphere and decor in the pub and upstairs restaurant. Ally, the host, ensured we were well looked after. It’s good value too. Highly recommended.

Cant rate food. Great beer. Great staff. Everywgere us clean The only reason it's a 4 star is that the smoking area ain't Great but with the location I know nothing can be done. Still won't stop me from coming again

We celebrated my partners 50th here, beautiful pub brilliant customer service! But the buffet we paid for of £240 for 20 people was small, just appertizers rather than a buffet and although lovely was not enough food for the amount of money we paid

I have not eaten here, but it is a cool pub, nice selection of beers and wine. To be fair, the food looks nice. If you can, grab the seat in the window facing the street, plenty of footfall going by for people watching

Went to watch some fringe comedy in the Drum room. Very pleasant atmosphere and attentive staff.

Delicious posh fries; a wonderful welcome and really friendly service. The decor and dining spaces were beautiful (really warm and tasteful decor...very homely and comfortable). All in all top marks and we intend to return with friends😊

Sunday roast was lovely apart from the greasy yorkshire pudding, we came here a couple of weeks ago and the yorkshire pudding was big, crispy and delicious, please bring them back.

Have eaten here on many occasions & it has always been absolutely lovely, after Sunday dinner today I was blown away with the homemade horseradish, the best I have ever tasted & the beef … it just melts in your mouth, will definitely be back!

Been here today and I enjoyed the atmosphere. Clean and tidy pub. Had Chicken Sunday Roast which was very tasty however for £16 I will say that the piece of chicken was small for the price, same with the veggies. Tasty but the portion was small. We have looked at other plates from other customers and it was the same. After we left we went and got a burger from somewhere else as we were still hungry. But service, atmosphere and cleanliness top notch.

A hidden gem of northampton. Excellent experience for the luch/dinner, in a historic pub of northampton. The food was exceptional and high quality. The interior is exceptionally stylish

So lovely to revisit Shipmans after all these years. It was much missed for years of closure, I am very happy to say the refurbishment has been done sensitively. Although I will miss the Barrel Bar and the yellow stained nicotine walls - so fondly remembered from the 80's 🤩
