Quiet in a wet Sunday. Perfect for us for lunch. The burger was excellent. Full of flavour and cooked nicely. Chips could have been a bigger portion but good. Wife loved her veggie lasagne. Son had a good ham egg & chips. Great pint of Largo as well (sunk a couple of those the weekend before with uni friends). Great food. And some cheeky games of pool after.

Party of Seven and one dog. Had limited expectations based on some of the reviews but we needn't have worried, they couldn't have been more wrong. Rang ahead to check the rules re dogs. They are allowed in the bar area but not in the restaurant part. Meals are also served in the bar so no problem! The pub was busy and bustling on a Saturday night, great atmosphere. There was a bit of a wait for food but it was so worth waiting for. The steak and ale pie was fabulous and everyone else loved their meals which were fish and chips, burgers and lasagne. Standard pub food but done really well and presented nicely. Staff were all so friendly and professional and we loved the chilled out vibe. Felt like we were properly on holiday! Prices for drinks were very good, main meals in the £15-16 range, more for steak. Thank you to the team for a lovely evening.

Having stayed in Aberdaron and eaten here before (and then decided not to again) but based on the recent reviews decided to try again. Beer is good, menu choices good UNTIL you happen to be sat in the bar but be told when ordering you can't order the restaurant specials as it takes too long for the kitchen - my husband and kids ordered gammon and 2 ribs that took about 30-40 minutes to arrive and then were not great (ribs were dry and almost inedible, gammon OK though, which are on the main menu), so I'm not sure how the pork belly on the specials would have taken that much longer. Disappointing.

We called on early on a Thursday evening and was able to get a table eadily in the restaurant. We both had the seafood special which was tasty. A really large portion of cod, calamari, whitebait, scampi and prawns. All deep fried in batter. The chips were also tasty. All in all a decent pub meal.

We stopped in here on the off chance on our last night in the area. Despite being fully booked in the restaurant, we were kindly accommodated in the bar. We were able to pre order before the food service time so that our food was cooked for us and on the table by 6.15 - much appreciated with a hungry 5 year old and a long night time drive to Bristol that evening! The food was delicious and some of the best we had on the peninsula. We ordered the seafood pasta (which had plenty of seafood in it), the pork belly and the kids fish and chips. Highly recommended.

We decided to spend the last night of our recent trip to North Wales at this pub/restaurant in the centre of the village a few yards from the beach. We luckily found a parking space right outside, but there is a large car park right opposite the pub. There are two separate dining areas, a restaurant and a bar area where we were located. They had run out of my first choice starter, but the pate and toast I ate was very nice. A large gammon steak with chips and an egg was my main meal, and this was also well cooked. Sian looked after us very well all evening

Great evening here. Top beer - purple moose was v flavoursome. Also tried a pint of coors. Bar staff were v friendly and helpful. Good banter with punters. Sea bass dish was excellent. Really tasty. Came with spuds and I made the mistake of ordering chips. They were excellent and easy to make chip butties. Dogs were also allowed in the bar area so my pooch was happy (and she got some chips !). Only downside - music was a bit loud and strange. Much better when a local turned it down.

It was extremely disappointing to find not not one member of staff that made us feel welcome The bar was busy but plenty of empty seats which we occupied with our dog. The bar person took several minutes to even acknowledge my presence at the bar. He was more interested in joking with a customer. A young lady was sitting behind the bar. Clearly not interested in working. Two more female staff came behind the bar but still ignored. Eventually I was served but lacked any kind of professionalism. We wanted to order food and asked for menus. We returned to order food at the bar. We were not informed to collect cutlery. The food arrived. Acceptable the price did not reflect the service. The female server was rude and basically plonked the food. She clearly saw there was not any cutlery. Collect it from the bar was her response. She left a table nearby completely covered. Not one person asked if we enjoyed the meal or asked if everything was OK. We are here for a week and will not be returning. Our custom will be given to the pub across the road where we have had 2 very good experiences. Great food and very friendly service. Harrison family loose the young people in leggings and adopt a more professional approach. Your customers are moving across the road.

I think we had an unfortunate experience when dining as a family of 6. We booked a few days before as we thought it would be busy. We chose this restaurant as the reviews were good and with two vegetarians in the family, the choice was meant to be better (I had checked online before our holiday, unaware the the menu was in the process of being changed). Unfortunately a bigger group were very late in their arrival so the staff were running around for them. It meant that we didn’t get our food for over an hour. Vegetarian choice was very limited to about two main dinners (veggie lasagne and nut roast) and a couple of starters. The nut roast wasn’t on the menu but offered by the staff. On the whole the starters were good but one of my king prawns (out of 3) was mushy. The mains were not good at all. My pork belly had no crispy skin although that might be intentional. The cod loin was meant to have a herby crust but didn’t (we got some money off for that). The burgers were absolutely awful - frozen burgers with a fatty taste and pretty much inedible by one person. I don’t known why I didn’t complain at the time but it was getting late and we were all wanting to go at this point. On the plus side, the vegetables served with the meal were great and not over cooked. We didn’t stay for desserts. I am sure the experience would’ve been different has the party not arrived so late.

Smacks of a somewhat complacent business with a captive market. Food actually okay (fried stuff, meat a bit dry, fresh stuff limited) just not as good as the prices would lead you to believe (£15-£20 a head incl a drink). Sticky tables/everything, bored staff, dirty plates/glasses on tables, flies. A half-hour blitz, an air and a smile to greet one and staff who sell could lift this from a 5 to an 8/10.

Have been a regular at this restaurant for a number of years and always recommended it. Sadly, not now. Bar staff clearly didn’t want to be at work & seemed incapable of speech. Main meals were mixed, sea bass and haloumi good, chicken ok, seafood risotto extremely lacking in seafood (see other reviews). “Tiger Prawn” special starter was 5 little prawns in a tiny bowl, 2 pieces of toast and a few leaves. Alun as always polite and accommodating but please give us back the old ship!

Ate here during Bank Holiday break, had been before and really enjoyed it but sadly quite the opposite this time. Hubby had fish and chips, chips fatty and soggy, I had a very overpriced prawn and salmon linguine, surely these were shrimps and not many of them and even less of salmon, the lack off these ingredients being made up of pieces of onion and pepper, absolute rip off at £15.95. We chose sticky toffee for desert which was over cooked/microwaved and tasted bitter and was crunchy and not spongey. Themeal was a total disappointment and to make it worse my husbands lager was cloudy. A visit to the ladies toilets said it all- no locks on doors as broken off and dirty floors and surroundings! Will not visit this eating place again.

Beautiful tasting food, beautifully presented. I had the special of sea bream and Mum had fish pie. Everything was cooked to perfection. Desserts of chocolate and blackberry terrine with lemon sorbet and rice pudding with caramelised peaches followed. As I couldn’t make my mind up on two of the desserts I was offered the Jaffa cake ice cream instead of the sorbet. Service like that is few and far between! There is a public car park nearby in this tiny village, the hotel doesn’t have its own, but it is literally a 2 min walk on the flat. They started serving meals at 6pm and asked if we wanted to go through to the restaurant, explaining the menu was the same as in the bar, so we were taken through to a lovely spacious restaurant room. The menu was fairly extensive, including vegetarian meals, and specials of the day, with normal meals such as beef and ale pie, steaks, fish pie, and more varied meals as you might find in an upmarket restaurant.

Went here for a quick pint with mates, nice enough set out, reasonably priced, I think (wasn't my round) , no pool table but it has a jukebox, although the sound was really low, waste of £1 really.

The food here is mostly freshly prepared. Expect such starters as whitebait and calamari to be the pre-prepared stuff - so choose wisely. Mains were excellent, an excellent rare steak cooked so it was actually rare, I usually have to ask for it 'blue' to get it right. The crab was perfectly fresh and simply presented, you don't want to muck around with crab of this quality. I think the empty crab shell went back polished not just scraped clean. The vegetables were prepared, cooked and presented really well. All in the only things that went back to the kitchen were the very empty plates. Staff were all great, had a good chat with the bar staff and the waiting staff. Booking is required for the restaurant I would say but having said that we could have breezed in and ate in the bar. Aberdaron itself is a lovely place. It is worth a visit anytime.

We stayed at the hotel for 3 nights, which is unusually long for us, but there was variation from day to day so you received a broad selection of meals. The food was excellent, but not "chee chee". Good fare for real people and of course there was a Pub as well. They had a broad selection of Ciders. I rather cider than beer/ale.

Nice pub, good food at reasonable prices unlike the other pub. Pity no parking but nice place to sit outside in the sun. I go there every time we visit.

Brother-in-law lives in Nefyn so we had a ride out and called here for lunch. Good choice on the lunch menu and we all opted for the specialty dish 'Anchor's Away' Local crab with melted cheese on a ciabatta with a tasty side salad. Good atmosphere with friendly staff

The ship restaurant is a gem of a find. If you want home cooked food with a good choice then this is the place for you. The restaurant is in the lovely village of aberdaron which is by the sea side. The staff are warm and friendly and do 'remember you on your return visits The food is gorgeous tasty and reasonable . They have a specials board which often offers fish dishes that have been caught that day. The restaurant does get extremely busy in Summer times and I would d suggest booking.g however the owner Allan does try and fit everyone in .it has a lovely charm about it and sometimes when you go it is chaotic especially in the summer but this adds to the charm. We Have been visiting this restaurant for 3years and can honestly say we have always enjoyed our meals. If you do have a problem or a concern with your food it is swiftly sorted out .I feel luckily that we have found somewhere that we enjoy going too for the whole experience .Well done Allan and all the staff keep up the great dining experience.

A little bit out of Aberaeron, but worth the effort to find it at night. Very kindly accepted our four-legged friend in the bar area so we could eat there.

Tried the food in the bar and were impressed, attention to detail evident. Went on to eat in restaurant and weeds surprised the service and food went up a notch! Great menu, different choices, all 6 meals beautifully cooked. Staff very attentive and a fabulous atmosphere. Only does as the flimsy cutlery. Worth a drive to visit.

We visited The Ship to meet up with family and had a nice meal here. Over the years it's been modernised to a great standard and now has a large extension and nice outside seating area. It also has a play area for children and a very large car park. There is a slight wait for the food, mainly because it's freshly prepared. The bar was stocked well and staff were extremely friendly. We have been visiting The Ship for years, and will certainly continue to do so.

Great coffee shop, actually one of my locals. Coffee is fabulous, staff are simply amazing. However, It needs a good clean down, I’d say a right good scrub would be extremely helpful, looking closely today is actually filthy and has been getting worse over the time. I’m not getting at the staff, cafe NERO area managers sort this store out!

This was a referal as good Portuguese food. Food not good Owner friendly I would not class this as Portuguese I spoke to him regarding the menu and remarked that we love the food in the Ty Madeira Cardiff he said he knew the owner but the food was nothing like the restaurants we have been to.
