First time at the Blue Bell,certainly won't be the last.My 3 friends and I take turns to choose a venue,and although I'm familiar with New Quay this little gem escaped me.The food was amazing,staff were attentive and friendly.We will recommend to anyone looking for a place to eat.Thank you.

This is my third time eating at this restaurant, and I've not yet been disappointed. I came this evening with my daughter her husband and my two young grandsons, the youngest is autistic, but because the tables are spaced out well, it's not too crowded, and he had a window he could look out of, he was happy. The staff went above and beyond this evening. My daughter is a very fussy eater, and it was no trouble to them at all to adapt things slightly for her. She was struggling to cut her steak, not because it wasn't cooked to absolute perfection, but because she has dislocated her thumb, because the staff are so vigilant, they noticed her struggling and gave her a steak knife. The food was amazing. I much prefer the steak medallions, pure fillet steak, which we all loved.We ordered puddings... where to start? For anyone who loves a pudding, my goodness, this is your place. We all had something different, and all loved the attention to presentation, and by far, the best puddings I've ever tasted. Well done to the chef's .The waitresses who are all so friendly,and always a service with a smile. The gentleman that was there, I think, may be the owner, ensuring everything was run smoothly and making sure all the customers left with a smile. The staff even brought out extra strawberries for my grandsons. We will most definitely be back. Highly recommended.

Great for coffee and cake. Caters for gluten free. We would have loved to have had an evening meal, but unfortunately they close on Wednesday nights. Greta views from upstairs

Had hot chocolate, which was really nice. Lovely atmosphere with view of the sea, if you're lucky to get a table next to the windows.

Came here needing food for a small hungry film crew. The girls inside were incredibly friendly and accommodating when we had changes to items on the menu (plus they had fab music taste!). They really kindly gave us a cardboard box to carry our meals. The food was incredible! We had chicken, pesto and pepper baguettes with a ham and cheese toasties - absolutely recommended.

The blue deli staff came to my rescue for my pre birthday celebrations I previously booked my pre birthday celebrations on 4 October at the PEPPER POT but they forget to phone & inform me they were cancelling my booking as they were off to Turkey on holiday leaving me in a pickle standing outside their restaurant where all the doors were locked The two girls in the deli were brilliant welcoming me & sympathising with us They arranged a table talked us through the menu all with a lovely smile they even bought my desert with a candle & sang happy birthday to me with other customers joining in Food & service excellent Thanking you all for making my birthday celebrations off to a flying start

27 of us went here for an anniversary, the 3 course meal was stunning, the staff couldn't do enough for us, highly recommend, I will definitely come here again

Lovely nautical feel to this bistro, right next to the sea, glorious views to look at while you enjoy the dishes and drinks. Two levels, cafe feel downstairs, more of a restaurant feel upstairs. Ground floor toilet facility, no disabled access as such but a low step at one entrance so accessable. Food is always good here, there are lots of cakes, brownies ect to choose from if you just need a coffee, cake pick up.

On the last day of our holiday in The Blue Bell Bistro and I wish we had tried it earlier! Good portion size and value for money alongside friendly attentive service, overlooking the sea!

Nothing to not like about this place - good vegetarian breakfast , not too expensive and with really good staff. Been many times over the years and will be back when we stay in New Quay again next year

Staff brilliant and the food available was lovely...BUT,... online menu is NOT the one that is actually available. Booked a table On the basis of the online menu which showed some vegetarian options. When we arrived a printed menu was on the table with just 2 veggie options. When asked, the staff told us that the online menu was not updated....why not? It felt as if we were hoodwinked. I indicated this to staff who were very apologetic and did their best to accommodate our requirements. Staff and food excellent but phone to check if the menu is correct if you are vegan or vegetarian. No problems with an establishment not offering a vegetarian option but this should be correctly shown online to avoid the obvious disappointment we had on a birthday meal booking

Myself and my Husband visited to the Bluebell a couple of years ago when we were in New Quay, and had such a good vegan meal which was creative and fresh. We returned over bank holiday weekend, hoping for a similar experience but unfortunately found it had really gone downhill in terms of vegan options. We didn't eat there in the evening due to this and went somewhere else with better options instead, but visited for breakfast as the plant based breakfast advertised on their menu online sounded good. When we got there, we found that the breakfast menu on their website wasn't up to date & the waitress said they no longer offered plant based saugages & had recently replaced them with glamorgan instead, which aren't suitable for anyone vegan. We were disappointed with this but decided to order as wrongly assumed they must add on extras, to replace the egg & glamorgan sausages they removed to make it plant based, but when it arrived it was really small & just consisted of a few roasted tomatoes, 1 flat mushroom, a small amount of beans,a few tator tot sized hashbrowns, some guacamole (instead of avocado as advertised) which tasted pre packaged & a dry piece of toast with no spread on. Nothing extra had been added, like additional mushrooms / another piece of toast etc, and having no spread on the toast felt like a pretty poor effort. Even though no extras were offered or given to replace the items they removed from the veggie breakfast, they still charged the same price as their standard veggie breakfast. When we queried this with a staff member when paying, we were told that they "had never thought of it before" so checked with the chef but he was told that it was the same price regardless. The waiter said he would feedback to the manager as we said we were disappointed with the breakfast & felt it needed to either be cheaper or have extra items added to make it worth the same price. The place itself is lovely, has a beautiful view over the harbour, and does great drinks but we unfortunately we couldn't recommend the food to anyone vegan, unless the menu was updated in the future to be more creative and inclusive for the plant based diet.

Not only the best place in New Quay, but possibly the best place for service, atmosphere and quality of food in Wales. The Blue Bell, along with the Black Lion, are an asset to New Quay and west Wales. Well done to Simon and all the staff who make the experience perfect.

Very good food served in an informal setting. Interesting dishes with something for everyone.

One of the best breakfasts I’ve had

Unfortunately we didn't get a spot spontaneously. The reviews are therefore assumed, but for good reason. The owner tried immediately and called a friend's restaurant and got us a table. The location is fantastic at the harbor. I would come back and reserve a table in advance.

Lovely view, dog friendly down stairs in the bar. Enjoyed the pizza and salads. Quite expensive but similar to local places. Would recommend. Great bottle of white wine! Great place to watch the world go by.

Just spent a weeks holiday, we had lunch at the Bluebell, all of our party of 4 adults and 2 children agreed it was one of the best meals we'd had, the service was friendly and efficient, the decor and atmosphere was really stylish with panoramic windows taking in views of the quayside. All in all a great place to eat Would highly recommend.

Went for Dinner in August, ordered a grilled Sea bream, well what can I say, I have had 100’s of sea bream in the past but I think this excelled all my past experiences all over the world. I think when I ordered it they must have cast into the sea and caught it to order. I can’t be more overjoyed at the taste, freshness and perfectly cooked and presented. I don’t normally do reviews but I have to for this FANTASTIC EXPERIANCE. Many thanks to ALL involved and will return.

We’re currently on holiday in the area. After purposely travelling 30 minutes to the area to try this restaurant after doing some research on social media for recommendations. We were excited to try the food! I had emailed ahead to book, to try and avoid disappointment… I’m still awaiting a reply to that email… We tried anyway, after seeing they were dog friendly we brought our dog too but knew we’d only be able to go downstairs. Upon arrival I clearly said a table for food, we were advised we could only sit downstairs and it was currently full - I asked if we could wait as we were keen to eat here. We were told sure just sit whenever a table comes free. A table came free after about 10 mins so not too bad. We sat down then asked For menus only to be told they’re only selling food upstairs now (where we couldn’t sit). This was said despite all other tables eating around us. We were then told they’d just taken the last orders and had a few tickets to work through in the kitchen so couldn’t serve us..so we’d have to go elsewhere! Such a disappointment! I worked in hospitality for a lot of years and would love to know why we weren’t told at the door they weren’t’ serving food (especially as we had a 6 year old with us and had specified we were wanting food!) I wouldn’t advise anyone to head here purposely like we did! Silly mistake by us to go out of the way to try somewhere made worse by the fact it was for a trip away following some bad news.

Been here a few times and menu remains similar (could do with more options and variation). Good service but not exceptional. Despite arriving early, many dishes had already ran out, from an already limited menu. Food was quite nice, but expensive for what it was. The cheesy garlic bread is delicious, however the main meals were fairly mediocre. Some of the meals should have been served on plates, rather than in bowls. Wait for the food was also quite long. Overall an enjoyable experience, but expensive for what it was.

The view... Wow! It took our breath away as soon as we went upstairs. So romantic and just a lovely place to eat. The food was great too. We had a lovely time and would definitely come again

Me and my husband went for an anniversary dinner. Managed to get the table next to the window with a stunning view (even if you don’t get it, the place is still nicely decorated) I had the red snapper special and hubby had the burger. We absolutely loved it!!! I had a bit of the burger and all I can say is don’t you guys change a thing, best burger I ever had!!! All I could say is “damn this is really really good” And I cook ALOT at home and it takes something special for me to 5 stars. Staff were lovely and friendly, great service with a smile. Keep up the good work and we really hope to be back there soon.

Just very good, food, drink, service and price

Great little coffee shop overlooking New Quay bay, perfect to watch the world go by. Lovely staff and one of the best Latte I've ever had and food was top drawer even if a touch pricey. Cheddar and chutney sandwich was really good and the chips were fantastic. Well worth having a bite here.

Fabulous place for lunch. The atmosphere of the bistro is so chill and relaxing, with beautiful views of the area, especially upstairs. We've been a couple of times, and every time, it's just as good. The food is delicious, and the services is fabulous. Even with short staff in the kitchen today, our food came out quickly! Would 100% recommend!

Relaxed lunch with a fabulous view across the bay. Excellent food and great service from Ella. Seafood pasta was delicious - king prawns, haddock and cod. Toilets accessible and clean. We’ll definitely be dining here again, when we’re next in Newquay. Thank you for making us so welcome. :-)

Had really bad experience specially with the manager really rude person and racist literally I ordered a pizza i asked the manager this pizza it’s melted I can’t even pick it up that’s it and she asked me to leave and when I’m about to pay I talk to the staff she said she we got some issue in a restaurant but she shouldn’t take it on you so I hope the manager learnto how to respect Customers 🤬 literally I regret choose this place this time & this is my third time and never go back again…..

The blue bell accommodated our hen party meal for lunch, the staff were amazing from start to finish, so friendly and professional. The food was 5 star, fresh and delicious and the wine and drinks were superb. The restaurants atmosphere had a great vibe that fitted the sea side town perfectly, the view was stunning overlooking the harbour. I would make the trip back just for the restaurant!

Staff made us feel very welcome and were attentive to our needs. Not a huge menu but this is reflected in the freshness of the delicious food they serve. Super views over the channel and the Welsh coast are a bonus too. Highly recommended

Great place with lovely views. We went for lunch and staff so friendly, they came to tell us that there was a wait of 30 min for the food and then came to ask if we wanted to be moved to a table with a better sea view. Food was great and as vegetarians, good options.

Whoever is running this place needs to be replaced. Hoping to get brunch at 11.05am, was told food stopped at 11 - on an Easter Sunday! But fine, that’s their rules, nice to see no flexibility. Ask if we can reserve for lunch, ‘no reservations’. Fine. We come back at 1.35pm - ‘sorry we are not serving food right now, it’s too busy’. At 1.35pm!!! One of us walks upstairs, half the tables were empty! We ask if we can sit there - ‘no, they are reserved’ - apparently you can reserve if you turn up at the beginning of lunch, and then just come back. Even though we had tried that earlier. They then seat us in a corner. We ask to order, and they tell us we have to wait until the two tables who have reserved order first. Both tables were empty still!! We then leave, and no one is standing around waiting to take those tables that were being reserved!? Honestly, it’s the number 1 location in new quay, yet it is being run by someone who has apparently zero experience. Massively disappointing. If you can’t take food orders when only 70% of tables have people on, don’t have that many tables or increase kitchen capacity. Not rocket science.

We lunched here for my friends 50th birthday and the staff went out of their way to make it special. We requested in advance that they place balloons at the table but they also brought her a special dessert plate and sang to her 😊 Lovely atmosphere, wonderful views and great food.

Popped in this afternoon for a late lunch, we could not fault a thing. We were all made to feel so welcome, staff were friendly and attentive. The atmosphere was great and the food was delicious. We can't wait to come back soon.

Fabulous location. Food quality was superb. Great Mother's Day lunchtime menu. Service was unfaultable. Very attentive. Best plates of food I have had for a long time. Reasonable pricing considering the location as well. Da Iawn. We shall see you again. Give it a try, you will not be disappointed.

We stayed at Wern Mill campsite for one night and came to the Bluebell for a meal at their recommendation . Great setting on the harbour front friendly helpful staff and the food was excellent . Thoroughly recommend

Excellent breakfast, we had the hash and a breakfast all the ingredients were great, we couldn't believe how reasonably priced everything was. Tea, coffee and juice with delicious food, the staff were friendly and were great with our dog. Really impressed, great experience. We appreciated the food as much as the view

We stayed nearby for a three night stay as we were walking the coast path. We had lunch one day and we were so impressed by the menu, food (coeliac options) and we it’s pet friendly downstairs so we decided to go there for dinner the next night We didn’t realise that food wasn’t served downstairs in the evening however the owners/managers were very flexible and let us eat in the downstairs area to accommodate us and our dog. We hadn’t booked and they were super busy but they kept us informed at all times about the estimated waiting time Excellent menu and food. The flavours are tasty and well presented - the portions are good and not overwhelming. Great dessert choice with options for coeliacs and vegans On our last day we had coffee and cakes (walking through Newquay on the coast path) Lovely restaurant- very highly recommended Thanks to the owner for being so flexible and helpful.

Visited this establishment on a visit to New Quay. Initially we visited just to have a coffee. We liked the place that much that we decided to have lunch there. We are really glad we did, because the food was excellent and our wait time was very short. If you find yourself in the area I would definitely recommend you give this bistro and try. Should we come back, we certainly will.

Whenever we are in New Quay we also make a point of visiting the Blue Bell. You can have a relaxing lunch, breakfast or evening meal it’s always amazing. Really enjoyed just having drinks downstairs during our last visit in Oct with our Labrador. Lovely atmosphere and staff were so helpful. See you soon

What a lovely restaurant! We visited twice while staying in New Quay, both for lunch and dinner. Neither disappointed. Gorgeous setting with fabulous views. Staff were really lovey too. Food was so good, and the cosmopolitans were bang on. Would 100% recommend visiting.

Inattentive, poor service, six or seven girls servings but nobody really serving or paying attention. Broken teapot too so lid wanting to fall off. Not really impressed.

The only reason didn't give 5 stars for atmosphere as it was quite quiet so couldn't really say. The food was delicious and our waitress Nicola was very helpful. It was my fiance's birthday and when they brought out the dessert it had happy birthday written on it which was a lovely gesture and much appreciated 😊 Would definitely recommend Thanks again Julie and Michael

My Wife and I visited the Blue Bell whilst on holiday in New Quay , it was our 3rd visit and as always the food was excellent along with the service . Thanks to everyone for making our evening enjoyable yet again . we will be returning .

We used to LOVE this place, coming many times throughout the year. This was our first time returning in 2023 however it didn’t live up to our expectations… I asked to swap a simple item on my meal (which was the same price) and I couldn’t be catered for. When the food came it was not what I ordered, ordered a steak medium and it came under rare… in a place like this you don’t mind paying a little extra as every time we have been here it has been spot on, couldn’t fault the place! However this visit let us down, on a more positive note one of the servers we had was incredible, he went above and beyond to try and rectify the issues we had however some things was out of his control, so a big thank you to Will, we really appreciate it. We hope to return to the blue bell however somethings need looking at.

The bistro was excellent with good knowledgeable and prompt service, well presented and cooked food (especially fish, mussels and lobster). All for a reasonable price. Highly recommended.

What a fabulous evening we had for our 2nd Wedding Anniversary. Will and the team went above and beyond to make our evening so special. From the moment we walked in to when we left the attention to detail to was great. The food served was out if this world we had 3 courses and the fish was delicious. Sensational local produce.The bottled and local real ale was also a very welcome additional bonus.

Booked a table upstairs for an early evening meal (recommended by a member of staff if you were hoping for a table with one of the better views). This was accommodated and the views did not let our experience down. However, we found that staff did not meet our expectations from poor attention to detail and my dish was very gritty and swimming in butter. The staff did offer to change the dish however this would have meant that my partner and sons meal would have gone cold and I would have dined alone. It was edible so I eat most of it. Ordered a wine which was discoloured and not what I ordered which was replaced and a questionable reason as for the discolouration! No reduction off the bill and questions as to slight menu adjustments such as removal or replacement of smokey cheese on the burger was not answered and neither was a request for a plaster (slight cut to my toddlers knee). Little things that make a difference in out view!

We came in 2021, 2022 and 2023, the three times we have stayed in New Quay. The first time we came, it was really amazing, the second time it was ok but the menu wasn’t very varied and we couldn’t really find anything we fancied, the third time it was as amazing as the first. I had three courses and there was no fault in any of them. The menu was very good, offering good prices for the type of restaurant it was and the food they served. I really enjoyed it.

This place has such potential but is badly let down by the staff at the counter taking the orders. We ordered two burgers without the sauces and relish on the side- both arrived slathered in the stuff. My wife’s salad arrived 10 minutes after the rest of of ordered- along with the starters.

A great spot with lovely sea views and a pleasant atmosphere but let down by the quality of the food. I visited the Blue Bell yesterday with my family and we had starters and mains. The menu looked great with lots of variety but other than one main, we were all dissapointed with our meals. The scallops with prawns and blackpudding starter (£14) was drenched in melted butter which left everything greasy, likewise the crab and prawn pot was good but the orange butter and chutney didn't pair well and overpowered the shellfish. The spicy calamari was OK but nothing special. When the mains arrived, once again everything was just a little too oily. The spicy seafood tagliatelle was not at all spicy, there was no chilli or other spices evident and once again the dish was swimming in melted butter making the meal greasy. The burger was dripping in grease and the lamb was served with a very rich buttery bean casserole which didn't complement the lovely lamb. My daughter did enjoy her duck with noodles but said it had too much coriander. Overall, a disappointing meal and we will not return here. The waiting staff were friendly and service was fine but the food was sadly not up to standard for the price. A little work on the menu could turn this from mediocre to great.

Great views of the sea, especially upstairs. Clean and well presented, staff attentive to our ordering requirements but we were ignored after initial service. Carrot cake was excellent, as was the squid (although may have been better with a knife and fork). The tea was...

Great service and staff, plus prices given the location were very reasonable. Stone baked pizza off the kids meal was enough to feed a hungry adult. The fish dishes the adults had were excellent too. Waitress (didnt catch name but had very fine line work on her butterfly tattoos) was really good and friendly too.

Fabulous variety of fish food on the menu. Simon, the owner, proud himself of keeping the village with sustainable food. I would love to welcome the opportunity to review. During the high tides, the dolphins come just outside. The locals truly recommend it because I did not try and did not taste not able to give a full review

Visited here with family including young children. The food was fantastic with plenty of choice from fresh sea food to traditional steak Kids menu was also great with plenty of choice Staff were great and very friendly. Will be returning here for sure very soon

Booked a table here for an evening meal but when we arrived we were told meals are ony served upstairs. I'm disabled so cant go up stairs. Unfortunately by this this time a restaurant ts were full also.

Went in early afternoon around 3pm on a beautifully sunny day. No food available as it was between lunch and dinner service which was strange as still early in the day. Opted to stay for a coffee and cake already being there, only one other couple inside already seated. We waited 15 minutes for 2 simple Americanos. Counted 8 staff standing around chatting and laughing, none of them actually working, leaving one girl to eventually make our coffees. Before leaving we asked about the bathrooms and were told we could not use them as they were being cleaned. We then waited 10 minutes, during which time none of the staff went in to clean, instead finish their conversations between one another. One of which was wearing the gloves for cleaning & touched an array of items on the bar like menus etc. incredibly unhygienic. When enquiring a final time before leaving we were told by the ‘manager’ we were ‘welcome to use the facilities across the road’. To add, there’s a charge of 30p. Obnoxious and poor customer service from the staff. It’s a legal requirement of an establishment which serves food and beverages to have a bathroom facility accessible to customers at all times. Unprofessional all round. Plenty of other welcoming establishments in the area

Such a beautiful place with a nice atmosphere to visit for a drink in the bar, or a meal in the restaurant upstairs, overlooking the harbour. Staff were all inviting and friendly. I ordered off the specials menu, Whole Plaice (£20), but unfortunately they missed off the asparagus which was disappointing due to the meals being on the pricey side. And I only had the chance to tell them this after the meal had been eaten. However they did offer £2.00 off the bill to apologise… My partner ordered the Rump Steak (£25) which he loved, cooked perfectly to his preference. The lemon meringue pie (£7) was nice, however found that the flavour was overpowered by the mango sauce that covered the entire plate. So made it impossible to taste the pie itself… Good place for a cocktail, (they have a happy hour 5-6pm) a bit of cake and a meal, but expect to pay a bit more money! Overall 4/5.
