We really enjoyed our evening here, the friendly staff, the great beer and best of all the atmosphere. This is a traditional local watering hole, the walls and ceilings reflect a long locla history. You just can't fake this sort of stuff, I know the "chain" pubs like to buy up trinkets and make places look like they have history, but it always looks fake. This is your genuine, honest, local fishing village pub, there are few like it. We thouroughly enjoyed the 80's background music, took us back to our university days. It's a good job we don't live locally, we'd be in every night! 10/10 ... best pub in the area.

Visted 'The Ship' during week commencing 3rd October 2020. Friendly welcome from Landlord and Landlady who knew the Welsh Covid 19 precautions well and had equipped each table with its own bottle of alcohol-based hand-sanitiser (Not for drinking). They ensured customers were wearing masks while moving around the pub. Contact details taken to notify cusomers if any Covid 19 infections were detected later on. Almost delighted to be refused admission on Saturday evening as there was 'No room at the Inn'. When we looked in the window from the street, we could see that the owners were conscienciosly applying the 2m rule and alternate tables were occupied. Never been so pleased to be refused entry on the grounds of our own safety. We are 60 and 64 years of age respectively and 2 months later have neither symptoms NOR Covid 19 infection bUT see the review of the St Brides Inn. Excellent traditional pub. No food but great beer. Only two real ales, but well kept. Felinfoel and a beer called Blasus from the Coles Brewery in Carmarthen. Also Staropramen as an alternative. Great hospitality, safe as houses in lockdown, your temperature taken for instance. Mind your step when you leave the pub as you step into a main road. Oldy world atmosphere, no food available, but enjoy your beer.

A pub must have well kept good beer. A pub must not have a freezer full of thrice cooked chips, goujons of old fish and sawdust sausages which the "chef" will cook for you to be served on a piece of wood or slate or in a baby chip fryer. A pub must have a welcoming landlord/landlady or both who is instantly interested in you. A pub must be comfortable and have character. A pub must "feel" relaxed and convivial. Ideally, locals should also be welcoming and engaging. . .... This IS The Ship Inn. A proper pub, the like of which is seldom seen nowadays. Congratulations to landlord and landlady and customers alike. Long may you continue as a welcome continuation of a fine tradition.

A trip down memory lane, a step back in time- when fishing village pubs were there for the community. A place to see old faces have a pint and listen to music played by people not being paid- but solely for fun..... A pub that welcomes travellers with the same embrace and quality drink as a local, inviting an experience into traditional sights and sounds....On that note I must point out the failings of the last two reviewers-1- The musicians are there playing for free, and providing fun and music. Granted, the quality varies, but you didn't buy tickets! And if you felt they were ruining your favourite songs, then pay £30 for a ticket to a tribute band in Tamworth!2- Having visited The Ship for many years(not a local) I can concur that I have heard some of the best folk music ever.3- Giving 1 TripAdvisor star to the pub because you felt the music wasn't as you remembered and the coke was flat(did you ask for a replacement?) Or just moan and miss the ambience...?4- Being a biannual visitor to The Ship for many years- I have never smelt sewage! I suspect you were confusing that aroma with the fact 20 metres away the tide was on the retreat- and that's what seaweed smells like!!This pub is a treasure of past within the present. Read all the other reviews- And embrace their pleasure and experience!

The photos on the wall are interesting, the beer well kept and the staff friendly but - oh dear.... There was live music advertised. I do not call two blokes murdering so many of my favourite songs from the fifty's and sixties music. They got a lass up to sing with them and her voice was good but her microphone turned down so low they drowned her out. A bloke grabbed a tambourine but just constantly shook it so hard and with no sense of rythm it was just a racket. No sorry - one drink and we were out of there

We enjoyed a pint of Double Dragon over a game of cards in a patch of sunlight while a log fire in the corner kept the sea damp at bay. We arrived to fishguard on the Friday and the weather was not great so decided to venture into town and we saw the sign for the ship inn in lower fishguard and I remembered some good reviews so we decided to venture in. We were 4 adults and 2 kids and the first impression from all of us was great when you come in. It is a proper drinking pub and the beer did not disappoint either. Everyone was really friendly and the owner came to see us and gave us same tips about what to in the region and what pub to go to which was great. The atmosphere makes this pub and we thoroughly enjoyed it

Came in here for a pint while on holiday and were pleasantly surprised. It's a great traditional drinkers pub. Quirky decor inside and the staff were very welcoming. Good selection of standard ales. We'll hopefully visit again before our vacation ends.

We stopped at The Ship Inn for a drink during a pub crawl for a hen party and received a lovely, warm welcome despite being in punk style fancy dress! The pub is full of character and well worth a visit and our thanks to the management for their hospitality. Thank you / Diolch yn fawr xx

Un piccolo pub di paese, niente di speciale come arredamento, ma un calore formidabile. Uno prende una birra, si siede in un angolino e sogna a occhi aperti.

Stopped in on a couple of occasions during our trip to Fishguard and found it a great place to drink in. The locals were friendly and entertaining, good beers and great peanuts! They don't do food, this is a proper pub :)

What a little gem, I would called it a pub/museum. All the genuine antique artefacts make you travel back in time. You can easily imagine the pub being full of seafarers. Worth a visit for a drink.

This place was always on my 'to visit' list and on my 3rd visit to Fishguard over the weekend (22/23/24/25th of May 2015) decided finally to make a visit.A sliding door makes for an unusual entrance to a pub located right on the road front! To say this place was packed to the rafters was an understatement! Clearly very popular and justifiably so! As per previous reviews, a nice friendly and relaxed atmosphere ensures a fitting environment in which to forget about the world.Definitely worth a visit in an age where pubs are a dying breed. Plenty of life left in this old sailors' pub yet though!Recommended.

Lovely old pub with a great fire and cosy atmosphere. History all around the walls, including pictures of Richard Burton (as Under Milk Wood was filmed here)

Pub doesn't do food but good beer & great welcome from the staff. We Visied there twice in our Welsh walking holiday & was made to feel like a local each time. Slight downside was the basic toilet facilities & the walk from there to Upper Fishguard. Will go there again

£27 for two paninis, a cappuccino and a coke seems a bit expensive, they tasted nice but pretty average i think. there was good music and a nice vibe inside, a pretty basic menu, just a bit expensive

Must visit if you are in this area. Perfect blend of cosy and stylish, romantic and family friendly. Warm fires, with lovely views, nestled right on the edge of this little bay. Could have stayed all
