We went to the Hope & Anchor in Tenby for Sunday lunch today - I wished I'd taken a picture. The roast was literally out of this world. Roast beef, Yorkshire pudding, roast potatoes, roast parsnips, brocolli, carrots, cabbage, leeks in a cheese sauce, mashed swede and delicious homemade gravy. (It said on the menu all vegetables were locally sourced and they were cooked to perfection). I am noted in my family for cooking a lovely roast but even I would've struggled to beat this roast. It has to be said this roast was amazing, served by helpful, pleasant staff.

We popped in to The Hope & Anchor on our first evening in Tenby, we were hungry and just wanted something quick to eat. We were met with a warm welcome, served great beer and the eating experience from the quality of their excellent food to the easy to understand well organised and speedy service meant we came back the next two nights. It was probably a bit unadventurous of us but this place is superb.

Just got home today from a week in Tenby, and I have to say this was our favourite, go to place, so quirky and so much to look at on the walls 😍 I found something different to look at every time we went in, from rope knots to beautiful pictures, everyone was so friendly too, from the staff to the guys by the bar, who im guessing we're locals...... now let me talk about the food.... OMG the Sunday dinner was honestly the best I've EVER had eating out, we both had the beef and it was cooked to absolute perfection, we also had the beef brisket burger another day, it was amazing, that bone marrow gravy was 😋😋😋, this place will be one of my favourite memories of Tenby, keep up the good work guys, and Thankyou for your hospitality and absolutely amazing food 😍👍❤️

Although it was bustling we managed to find a table and after ordering at the bar the food was served really quickly. Came here for an evening meal while on holiday in Tenby - we hadn’t booked, but they found us a table in their outside eating area. Since it was a bit chilly, the helpful young server turned on the overhead heater for which we were very grateful. Husband had an enormous fish pie and I had a huge pile off very good quality mussels and fresh bread. We shared a bowl of chips. All the food was excellent and arrived promptly. As I can’t drink alcohol, due to a medical condition, I was glad to be offered an alcohol free larger and lime which was delicious. They even had a handicapped toilet on the ground floor to which the manager kindly took me. Excellent service all round. Price was very fair for the quantity and quality of the food. Would highly recommend

Lovely quirky pub, with nice nautical decor and antiques. The mussels are the star of the show! Fresh, plump and huge mussels in a well balanced sauce and cooked with samphire! Chips were pretty bad though. Unfortunately it gets really crowded and insanely loud inside with ruins the experience a bit. Also there is no table service which is disappointing.

Four stars for food and waiting team, but be expected to be rushed out. We booked a table the day before for an evening meal, as we expected it to be busy. A usual table time is 2 hours. We ordered our food and drinks at the same time at the bar, this was a bit hectic as it was busy and people stood drinking at the bar, therefore you are shouting your order across the bar. If eating in the restaurant table service would be better to avoid the queues at the bar and mistakes being made. We ordered two fish mains and three children’s meals, with additional sides drinks, and a bottle of wine. The food came out quickly which was great for us having kids. There was a mistake made with one of the children’s meals but was rectified quickly , the young waiters were so helpful and friendly. The food was amazing, live mussels and the cod curry, we did want crab as had seen this advertised but sadly wasn’t available. After we had finished our mains we were drinking our wine and having a rest deciding on puddings, when the manager approached us and asked us when would we be leaving as they needed the table, despite other tables being empty. We had only been there an hour and already spent £100.00. Although the manager did return to the table to apologise, it had annoyed us so we left and bought puddings and more drinks elsewhere.

We were lucky to nab a table outside the pub in the sun and it was lovely - great for people watching too! We had the mussels and the scampi and chips. Food was delicious but we did chuckle when the server brought our food out and said “please watch out for the seagulls”! But she was right… I think we managed to scare them off but they were definitely on the prowl! Service was good with a great range of gins!

Honestly the burger was really underwhelming and other than the man serving at the bar the service was rubbish. I asked for some hot sauce, the guy disappeared for ages and then when I saw him again he said oh do you still want that. My partner loved his lobster and as usual (not sure why as they don't deserve it) the kids meals were crap. Good atmosphere and location and some of the other food around me looked really good so think I just picked wrong. Defo worth a try, just maybe stick to a fish or seafood option.

I've been reading other reviews and wish I had taken note on their advise beforehand. I recommended my family to try this one but have received bad review. They ordered the fish pie and the seabass from the specials board, plus a child's sausage & chips. The two adult meals were mediocre, nothing special. The main issue is the child's meal. On the menu, which was poorly worded, implied kids meals came with chips (or potatoes) and side salad (with peas/beans available as options). However it arrived as literally some sausages and chips on a plate. No salad, no vegetables, nothing. They questioned the server about this, and he "went away to check", then came back and said the meal given was correct, as customers are supposed to specifically say they want salad, otherwise it's not included. Given the description on the menu they found that to be unacceptable. Not least because they don't know how they can justify a complete lack of veg/salad as a fully rounded meal for a child. They didn't want to have a big argument about it so some salad was shared, but the poor customer service did let down the experience. This is just to show that their the menu is not clear, that they would rather save some pitiful amount of money by expecting customers to ask for it (which is completely ridiculous), and were willing to blame the customer when the customer raise the issue. There are much better restaurants in Tenby so do yourself a favour, try others!

First visit. Just a day trip to Tenby and happened to chose this place based on reviews. We thought the food was okay….if you’re hungry it’s fine - massive portions but felt the quality wasn’t worth the price. I had the Cajun chicken. It wasn’t Cajun, looked more like tandoori but didn’t taste any spice. Husband said fish and chips was…ok. Kids sausages looked cheap. Just felt like they should have spent a bit more money on their ingredients and served a slightly smaller portion - there must be a lot of food waste.. Atmosphere was nice and staff were friendly.

Lovely pub and location BUT the (seemingly) younger of the two barmaids is constantly shortchanging customers! Ive noticed it several times, and heard someone say the same earlier, too! You have to order at the bar which was very busy. Husband had fish pie and he said the fish was quite tough and it came with a plain salad which I thought was odd. The sea bass I had was lovely. This is a fairly decent pub meal in Tenby. I had fish tacos which were reasonably good. Oddly they did not come with a side at all, so I’m glad I ordered a mixed salad to go with it. The salad was fairly robust. My mom had the fish pie and absolutely loved it. It contained a generous amount if fish and shrimp and the flavors mixed well together. My dad had the fish and chips and this is where we had an issue. The size of the piece of fish was huge which was nice. However, it was not cooked through in the middle. Biting into a piece of uncooked cold fish put my dad off eating entirely, he couldn’t even stomach eating the chips around it. We did say something and on a positive note, we got a 50% refund for that meal. However, when we were given that money, we were told that “they checked it and it was definitely cooked through.” This confrontational comment was completely unnecessary. Aside from that, it was a generally pleasant average experience. I would say that the prices indicate a higher end experience than that of a pub.

We have recently moved into the area and have had a few meals at St. Brides Inn, Little Haven. We have to say the staff are very friendly and attentive. Having visited on several occasions, we highly recommend the food. Comming from the United States, the salad is the best I have tasted in the UK. They have made my husband a salad lover...he hardly touched salad before having one of St. Brides Inn salads. If you love fresh fish, lobster and crab....this is the place to visit.

After having enjoyable experience with my wife at the weekend in the Mariners, when full. Forget it when quieter in the week! In fairness, the Gaffer wasn't there, BUT a group of 2 or 3 lads were f...ing and blinding at the top of their voices. On going, no restraint or advice from anyone. Totally disrespectful and uncalled for. Don't bother going in. We won't. Crap.

We had to sit out the back as we had a dog . Couldn’t fault the food was really good . The worst thing was the pigeons they were horrendous. They kept coming up to the table we kept shewing them away but they kept returning . Totally put us of our food . Really think they need to sort this problem out. We have had friends going there and they have said the same

Went in with my family by chance for some food as we were on holiday in the area. Very accommodating pub, children welcome. Food and drink was lovely and well presented for pub food and good service from the lady behind the bar.
