Went there for food only to find the few tables they had were full and the biggest table Was being used as someone’s office by one person doing office paperwork and laptop duties Not a welcoming place at all We left not even buying a drink as there was nowhere to enjoy one

Nice friendly staff and a good atmosphere.

A great pub with superb location and view. We went three night running and always busy with a great atmosphere, especially Sunday night with live music. Very good customer service from the team behind the bar. Highly recommend.

Our favourite local pub, staff are very welcoming and helpful. It’s definitely a regulars pub with many tourists visiting too. Love the live bands which are occasionally on the temporary stage outside.

Popped in for lunch today. Had ham eggs and chips. All great, ham is thick cut and very tasty, egg were cooked to perfection, yolks soft and runny whites firm cooked. Chips also well cooked, crisp on outside soft in middle.

IT’S OPEN The reviews and navigation seemed to be saying, closed due to structural problems. It’s open, I’m there and it’s a nice place.

Lovely food, huge portions couldn't eat it all, great value. Staff very friendly and welcoming, will definitely return when back in Teignmouth.

Got served a beer, went outside and sat in the drizzle. It is in a lush location that the drizzle doesn't matter. Sat overlooking the river and suddenly there were several groups that came over. It was very busy, we couldn't wait so I never tried the menu. It looked lush. I'm am going again this weekend as it is beautiful. Barstaff were great and very accomodating

Sitting with a drink with a view like this at the end of a warm day. Nice choice of ale,s to pick from. Can offer a comment on the food did not eat there.

Love this pub....always go to it when we visit teignmouth mussels we're delicious and the scampi and chips were aswell!

A traditional old pub and dog friendly

Cannot fault anything about this wonderful old pub. Service from Michael and Marcus was attentive but not overbearing. Our food was superb - whitebait, mussels, venison lasagne and sirloin steak with an amazing blue cheese salad all excellent

We had a lovely afternoon drinking and finished are day with a fantastic 2 course meal and the portion sizes are very generous 👌 although we live in Somerset we be back

Never had food there. But can't fault the real ales

I love this pub and the food we had was good but my only gripe was the drinks are really expensive. I paid £6.95 for a larger shandy which I thought was very expensive for a Devon seaside town. I pay less than that in London and more like £3.50 We ain't all rich you know and I wasn't prepared for such a high price. I should have gone to Weatherspoons oh well.

Seemed like it could be a great pub as it had great atmosphere but my family and friends got kicked off the table 30 mins before someone else's booking started (we were planning to leave at the time that booking started anyway). I've never had that happen before in 30 years of pub going and the way they dealt with it didn't make me want to come back.

First time that my wife & I have visited the Ship Inn in Teignmouth. A thoroughly enjoyable experience. The bar staff were very efficient & helpful and the beer was top dollar.🍺🍻🍺🍻

We like to experience local pubs and restaurants and occasionally, we visit The Ship Inn for a really good meal and drinks. As usual, they never let us down: Delicious and changing fare topped up with many types of drinks. The service cannot be faulted with literally moments barely pass when food and/or drinks are placed on our table as ordered. Always hot meals too, because no-one likes warm food. Summer and warmer days invite you to sit outside and view the back beach scenery. A real treat all around.

We went here for a meal whilst on holiday and liked it so much we went back again for meals whilst we were in Teignmouth , lovely food and real ales- highly recommend. Particularly recommend the sweet potato, chick pea and coconut curry, beef stew, liver and bacon and the homemade beef burger plus the hand cut chips were the best I've ever eaten!

Unfortunately the Ship inn is closed at this moment due to structural damage

Nice, dog friendly pub, with good service and nice food.

Visited on a sunny Saturday lunchtime in February and had great fish and chips followed by a pint of cider overlooking the water. Staff very friendly. Dog friendly blankets to keep the fur balls warm after swimming in river.

Loved the chips! The fish was cooked quite nicely. Friendly staff, and quite a nice cosy atmosphere.

Brilliant little pub on back beach ⛱️ Teignmouth, great atmosphere, great service, friendly staff and super tasty food.

The history here would make an interesting read. An old world worki g pub that has evolved with the times to provide restaurant facilities. Menu looks exciting. It's not cheap to drop in for a quick drink but the atmosphere and comfort in this galley style bar makes up for it. Thoroughly warming and toilets were clean and comfortable. Well worth a visit

One of the best traditional pubs in Teignmouth. A good selection of ales and Sheppy's cider. Best outdoor pub venue for Back Beach views up the River Teign and lively sunsets over Dartmoor in the summer.

We planned to eat outside , but due to some very aggressive seagulls couldn't, the staff were very helpful and accommodated us inside despite being super busy Thanks

Absolutely lovely pub and restaurant, went here last Sunday for a roast, staff very polite and friendly and helpful, and the roast lamb was excellent 10 out of 10 really tasty 😋 one of the very best I've had, just one small thing, could of done with a few more potatoes, will definitely be going back to the ship Inn! Beautiful Dog friendly pub near the sea front with great food, drinks, cozy seating and efficient service. Lived the ambience and the food, soo delicious and portion size are nice.

Sat in front of a regularly fed fire, eating good food, served quickly by polite and helpful staff.

As stated: A casual night out with four of us out for a meal and drinks and a chance to catch up with family.

Wanted to leave a review based on our Family spontaneous Lunch. We had lunch in the Bar area around 12:30 on a Saturday. The food was excellent and the Staff were also very polite and helpful. We often used Shaldon for Lunch however this change proved the right decision. Will be back again over Christmas time.

Had Sunday roasts here a party of ten adults we arrived early but the staff weren’t put out. We were made to feel very welcome the staff were very accommodating nothing too much trouble. Food arrived piping hot with plenty of vegetables and gravy no complaints at all. Will definitely return when in the area again. Well done to all the staff please please keep up the excellent service.

We firstly visited this pub for a meal earlier in the year, a lunch which was fabulous. We returned for drinks in the bar later in the season, followed by a Sunday lunch. The staff were absolutely friendly, not forced, but really charming and could not do enough to assist. We had a mix of Sunday roast and other dishes within our party, all absolutely fantastic. We will definitely return when next in Teignmouth. I have no idea what some of these bad reviews are about - are they talking about the same place? Do not be put off, try it for yourself.

Met up with friends for a catch up! Food was lovely! 100% but recommend you book as we did as gets very busy. Great service and staff so friendly. Will definitely be returning!

Amazing food. They did a Friday special of two fish and chips for £25 and it was like a chip shop fish n chips. The scampi and gammon was lovely too. We could not believe how friendly the staff was. 10/10.

Have visited this pub over the last ten years when visiting Teignmouth It is physically probably one of the best re location on water front. BUT the staff have changed they don’t seem happy no smiles they were polite ish didn’t seem happy to see us no welcomes etc. We had a meal which was fine fish and chips tasty reasonable portion A int of San Miguel cost £6 which I thought was very expensive then tried a pint of Estrella and paid £7 to meVERY EXPENSIVE did no go there again

This is easily the worst pub in Teignmouth, in fact probably all of South Devon. It's run down and dirty and on the 3 occasions I've had food, it's been overcooked every time. Avoid and go anywhere else.

I think this is quite possibly the worst pub I've ever been to. The beer was dreadful, it was warm and poorly poured. And the toilets, well, quite frankly I have never seen dirtier toilets than in this place, in a disgusting state. Newquay inn much much better.

We've just been the The Ship tonight after nearly not going on the basis of recent reviews. I wanted to write about our experience to give a positive view - we did not have anything like the experiences of other recent reviewers. All staff were friendly and charming. The food was lovely - I had mussels which were plump, soft and delicious. Don't believe everything you read and go and make your own mind up. It was lovely

Went tonight and had a lovely meal, mussels were great, probably over twenty meals here in the last 3 years always good and staff welcoming, highly recommend

This pub has absolutely no atmosphere. The bar staff have attitude and are unfriendly. It's in a nice spot but sadly it fails to deliver, avoid and is it any other pub in Teignmouth.

Excellent efforts made by all of the bar staff during our visit on Saturday last. The shanty festival had them working flat out and they coped. All helpful and polite, tables kept clear of spent glasses, no long waits at the bar for service. Top job, top teamwork, many thanks.

My favourite pub it Teignmouth, a great location on the back beach, with outside benches to look across to Shaldon, a wide selection of ales on the bar.

Staff are miserable and unwelcoming, it's not nice to be served by a frown instead of a smile. Quality of food is below average.

Lovely pub great views across the river and decent beer. Great on a sunny day. Only one drawback, the landlady is about as welcoming as a punch in the face. What a miserable persona who evidently holds her customers, who pay her wages, in contempt. Been coming here for many years so won't let her spoil it for me but be warned.

Love the Ship. Right on the back beach, with beer, food, and a great team behind the bar. Popular with locals and visitor. Very dog friendly with home made dog snacks available.

It is was buzzing, great pub, good pub food, good area for young children and good sized beer garden, just been to again still buzzing so another star!

Had the Meze meal. Absolutely delicious. I highly recommend it. Taste buds are still dancing from the delicious foods on offer.

Took the children crabbing, had some lunch great friendly staff especially Donna :) she came out to find us when we were outside to tell us food was done the food was great fish and chips are absolutely brilliant! Definitely worth a visit!

Lovely place with a fantastic view. Always friendly staff, even when really busy they are always quick at the bar to help. Have been here lots of times, always popular place and never had a bad experience. Would recommend.

Not a pub to return to. I felt like I was going to be murdered on entry due to everyone in the bar starting at me the second I walked in. Drinks were ok but not worth going again as I felt so uncomfortable!

The worst pub in the area, sticky tables, run down, full of drunks shouting until 2am. Service very poor as well

The staff that work here are very unpleasant on the whole and ineffective at their job, slow at pouring drinks and lack basic customer service skills.

the manager is rude and self entitled, despicable man. and the rest of the staff aren't much better, the atmosphere is hostile and its horrible to be in. How anyone can rate this dump is beyond me.

had a really good night, staff are really friendly and food was good. would go back. toilets were clean, and beer was good. ended up staying longer than I planned.

Very bad pub, service is terrible. Food is disgusting and the beer is far too warm. The location is its only saving grace.

The beer I was served at least was warm and unpleasant to drink. The staff are all miserable and permanently in a bad mood.
