Can’t fault anything! The service was great and they were very welcoming. There were three of us in our party, and we all enjoyed what we ordered very much. So much so, if we lived closer, we’d definitely come again. I don’t eat puddings, but chose to have one, and glad I did, it was lovely. All three of us have left happy and full. It’s a lovely place, in a great setting, would recommend to anyone who is in the area.

Food was mediocre. But what was incredibly annoying was the portion size. Ordered the cajun salmon. The mash was 3 times the size of the pitiful piece of salmon. It wasn't exactly cheap £17 + Not even close to being value for money.

Came as a society group of 30 people and only booked 2 days beforehand, so really appreciated the flexibility from the staff. Lynn was super helpful and catered to our adjusted numbers as and when it was needed and even got in extra staff for us! Food was good, generic pub grub but lovely decor inside the restaurant too. A good experience overall and we’ll hopefully be back in the summer when the weather is better!

I’ve always enjoyed a quick bite at The Bosthouse when visiting Dawlish Warren. The food is fine and the views from upstairs are great. However the customer service today made the experience unpleasant. The server upstairs took my order with no eye contact and no apology when she told me to go downstairs to order a milkshake. The service downstairs was dreadful - 2 members of staff, clearly overworked and fed up, but not hiding this from customers at all. A very long wait for a milkshake whilst one member of staff pointedly turned his back on us to sort out his working area. The other shrugging that he could only go so fast. The staff in no way deserved the horrible treatment and language from one customer, but management should be making sure their staff are not so demotivated that the sevice levels drop and they have to deal with this behaviour. My food arrived before I could return to the table with the milkshake in the end.

But they know the location and lack off other choices can get away with it. Having said that we did dine in one night towards end of holiday and I must admit all meals we had were good. I had the half chicken and was really nice and succulent as my son. Did too. Both Faultless. Wife daughter in law and children no complaints so yes well overpriced but good. Good amount of seating over 2 floors including an outside terrace. The food was brought out quite quickly and the portion sizes were very good. The vegan burger was a bit lackluster for the price - to look at it on the plate it just looked like a powdered bun - nothing visibly sticking out or stacked within it. The kids meals were a good size too. Ordered two Long Island Iced Teas - not the best. Far too much coke added. For a family of 4 (2 adult meals, 2 kids meals, 2 cocktails and 2 kids mocktails) the bill came to £72.70

Unusually, for a seafront bar The Boathouse offers tasty real ales and not the boring "safe" mediocre beers you so often find. It has a wide selection of seating areas that add to atmosphere, including a space upstairs offering a children's play area and great views across the Warren to Exmouth and the Exe Estuary. Family friendly with helpful, efficient staff. Although I rarely eat out myself the meals seem to go down very well. Always a place to visit if you are down that way.

We ordered a chicken kebab and a lasagne. Both dishes were well presented and initially looked to be nice. Both came with fries which were cold. The lasagne also came with cold garlic bread. The lasagne had no flavour and was really dry. When we told the person who collected the plates, they said they would tell the kitchen but offered no resolution to us. The chicken kebabs tasted fine, but again the fries were cold. Very over priced for the disappointing experience. The person who had the chicken kebabs had visited several times previously and had never had a bad experience. However, the experience that we had this time put off me as a first time customer and I doubt I willever return. I would have a more favourable view of the restaurant if the staff actively sought to reach a resolution to the poor food. For £45, for 2 mains and 2 drinks, it is a no from me. Staff were friendly aside from the issue highlighted and our seating request was met. There were issues with them getting the booking up on their system though. Edit: we have since had contact from Sally who has arranged to compensate for the poor experience.

We have visited for food twice. In summer when our group of four visited, we had no issues at all. The food was lovely, service was fine, and the baked potato was fine for the allergy in the group. Visited again with two of us, the burgers were great. The gluten free burger meal also tasted great, however I've been ill for the rest of the day how I'd get if I've had wheat. Either the gluten free burger meal isn't gluten free, or the fryer for the chips has had something gluten based in it.

Wow, what a difference. Our last visit was disappointing, apparently the pub was about to be taken over by new management, and it was all a bit sad. Reading recent encouraging reviews we booked for Sunday lunch, and what a treat. Now I'm a fussy so-and-so when it comes to a roast dinner, and we were not disappointed. The staff are lovely, the meal was well cooked, piping hot and plenty of it. Exactly as it should be. Would heartily recommend.
