Visiting Dawlish Warren and the place is right by the sea with great views. Two balconies and we thought we'd have a coffee and cake up there, it was 10am and it just opened, well partially. Went in and only the ground floor was open. They don't open the upstairs until noon. I presume staffing is the issue but it's their best selling point and really missing a trick in my opinion. Had a look at the menu. Not cheap by any means and the food looked typical pub grub. Went back in the afternoon for drinks on the balcony ( see photo).Room for improvement, me thinks.

Ordered the choice of 3 starters, 1) sticky sesame chicken, 2) Smokey BBQ riblets and 3) Mango chilli prawns. Our girls had the spaghetti bolognaise and the other, the kids cheese burger and fries. Our starters, firstly the sticky sesame chicken (4 pieces) actually wasn’t too bad, served hot and tasted fresh. The Smokey BBQ ribs were barely warm, didn’t tasty Smokey and only received 3 pieces…. The Mango chilli prawns were infact breaded shrimp (4 pieces) with barely enough seafood for the amount of batter, tasted greasy and was disguised in a wash of watery sweet chilli sauce. The kids Spagetti bolognaise was dismissal! Not but just a spoon of bolognaise sauce and the meat was flavourless… may as well have served my daughter a Tesco spaghetti Bowl !! The other child’s Cheeseburger… my daughter commented (who’s 10) that the school dinner hamburgers tasted 10 times better. The service was decent as place was very busy for a bank holiday. Recommendation to the Boathouse management team, get a decent chef in that knows how to actually cook quality food! We were looking forward to eating here but left hugely disappointment!!

Delicious food, excellent service, and a lovely atmosphere. The decor is suitably nautical - not necessarily genuine, museum pieces, like the Chartroom in Brixham - but enough to give the diner plenty to look at, and enough pirates to satisfy the kid in all of us.

Food was alright, atmosphere was mediocre at best but the most annoying thing we found was they stop serving food when they fancy it. Just sat out side and decided what food we wanted, went in and told they arent taking orders anymore. That was at 7:40, they say online they don't close until 8. Went home with family in toe, hungry and disappointed

Usually go here on our day trips to Dawlish Warren but won’t be going back. Meals have gradually become smaller and smaller, long waits and often one of us has finished our meal before the other has received theirs. The icecream sundaes have become smaller and smaller and today’s took about twenty minutes to come out to me ….and the glass it came in can best be described as a whisky drinks glass, not a sundae dish.Very small. Used to look forward to going in here but not anymore I’m afraid….the pasty and chips counter down the road does bigger portions and cheaper! Dogs everywhere with trailing leads and peeing whilst you’re eating a tad off putting!

The Boathouse Grill in Dawlish is ideally located for those looking to grab a bite after a brisk walk along the Dawlish beaches, a visit to Red Rock, or some time at Funder Park. The decor is pleasant, and the setting is inviting. Unfortunately, that’s where the positives end. We were disappointed with the food. I ordered the Wholetail Breaded Whitby Scampi, which was fine—though, to be fair, it’s hard to go wrong when deep-frying frozen scampi. That said, the inside was a little watery. My wife ordered the Top Deck Burger, which, according to the menu, was supposed to be a "rich flame-grilled 6oz prime burger." I can confirm it was none of those things. Well, maybe it was 6oz, but it was certainly not rich, flame-grilled, or prime. In fact, calling it a burger feels generous. What arrived (as shown in the photograph) was 'orrible—one of those grey, processed meat patties packed with wheat flour, proteins, emulsifiers, and who knows what else. Worse still, it had been deep-fried—the crust on the patty made that abundantly clear. To call this place a grill when they don’t even grill the items that should be grilled feels like a bit of a misrepresentation.

We found a big table and sat and chatted while having a game. We took our new card game. It was lively to all sit together in the warm and cosy having a pint etc. Perfect if you have been out dog walking or with the kiddies. Most people prob pay to park for the day, so what nicer on a chilly day than to use someone else's warm and sit and have a cozy hour with a Baileys coffee ;) other alcoholic and non alcoholic beverages available

I’ve always enjoyed a quick bite at The Bosthouse when visiting Dawlish Warren. The food is fine and the views from upstairs are great. However the customer service today made the experience unpleasant. The server upstairs took my order with no eye contact and no apology when she told me to go downstairs to order a milkshake. The service downstairs was dreadful - 2 members of staff, clearly overworked and fed up, but not hiding this from customers at all. A very long wait for a milkshake whilst one member of staff pointedly turned his back on us to sort out his working area. The other shrugging that he could only go so fast. The staff in no way deserved the horrible treatment and language from one customer, but management should be making sure their staff are not so demotivated that the sevice levels drop and they have to deal with this behaviour. My food arrived before I could return to the table with the milkshake in the end.

We went here for a carvery today and it was wonderful. The choice of meat was great and the amount you were given was very generous. According to several of our party the dauphinoise potatoes were amazing. The cheesy leeks were delicious. All vegetables were fresh and a fantastic choice. They were able to provide gluten free gravy for me too. The staff are great. So friendly, smiling and chatty. What I call a 'proper' pub. We sat in the beer garden for a drink afterwards which was so peaceful and beautifully maintained. Highly recommend.
