was early meeting my friend, was welcomed by lovely friendly staff and directed me to an empty table! Should of booked as there wasn't many available. sat next to the cosy warm fire. Very popular place for a Tuesday evening. we ordered half a cider and large wine at the bar which was very well priced. We ordered our food at the bar and when it arrived it was super yummy. wasn't disappointed at all. Staff were super lovely. 100% will go again.

We visited this pub twice during our little break away with the kids. We didn’t purchase a meal however the menu looked lovely and the food that came out looked very tasty. We paid around £15 for a round of 5 drinks with crisps. The landlady was very welcoming. The kids absolutely loved the outdoor seating and thought all the different breeds of chickens were fantastic. We would defo revisit if we’re ever in Beverley again as this isn’t your typical ‘chain’ type pub.

What has happened to this pub. Went in for food and drinks with our friend. Food absolutely disgusting. There were 3 of us, two haddock and chips one scampi and chips. Haddock average, Scampi and chips on all three plates not cooked properly. Scampi soggy mess, chips pale and still chilled. Beer flat. Very disappointing evening, definitely won't be eating here again. Not even good pub grub at affordable prices, way overpriced. Disgusting experience.

Lovely pub with great log/coal fires. Used to allow dogs, but no more. Used to have lovely large fish, but are now just average with sub-par dark brown batter. Chips are now the average pale pub fare. Burgers are also very dissapointing. And now the prices have been hiked! Not sure we'll be back very much :(

Came for Sunday lunch. Took a while to acknowledge us despite a lady at the bar with her back to us slicing lemons infront of a mirror! Ordered Sunday dinner. Food was so below average. Small portion, meat so so dry, Yorkshire puddings abysmal and gravy awful. No one came to ask us if we were ok so we left. No ambience, not a nice meal and sadly won’t be back

Hasn’t been here since the pandemic started and good to see the fish and chips still Greta value! Busy night but still friendly and served quickly! Biggest drawback for us was as some others have commented why no dogs ?? More pubs are accepting dogs not refusing them? Covid has nothing to do with dogs whatsoever so unless there’s been an incident with dogs I don’t get the ban and the definite No dogs allowed on the board seems almost as though yiu hate dogs 🤷♀️Massive shame as we always take our very well behaved dog usually for tea to a dog friendly pub except for tonight so we didnt hang aroud! Then To read even banned in the beer garden beggars belief!!

I still give this lovely pub five stars in respect of about 35 years of happy occasions for both drinks and meals with three successive dogs, all of whom were well behaved and under the table. Now this has all changed and I am not sure that it is solely because of the Covid situation. I have tried to contact the management three times to find out why there is now a dog ban in the pub and dire warnings in the garden outside. So far no reply. I am not trying to be difficult, I would just like to know why? We are getting old and this was such a lovely sociable place to chat and have a drink and/ or a meal. Can anyone tell us why we are now banned?

We used to go regularly and it felt like a welcoming homely pub, however we quickly discovered they no longer accept dogs and if you do you have to stay outside in the feeezing cold marquee, we wanted to eat but decided as is it was too cold out we gave it a wide birth. Such a shame and seems crazy that they first used the no dogs excuse due to covid but now still maintaining this even now. Will be finding other local country pubs with more welcoming approach in future. Potting shed and many others locally still let pooches in! 👍

We love this place. The grounds are great for enjoying sunny weather. Quite a bit if wildlife to watch. Chickens all over the place. Donkeys in the field next door. The beer is always good too. However, the food is really disappointing. Years ago this place did great food and we went regularly. On this occasion we had fish n chips. The fish was clearly from frozen, it was so flat and greasy, neither of us could finish it. Its a thin fillet with skin on. Decent chips and the smallest spoon of mushy peas ever. Would love this place to sort the food out! We would come regularly. As it is, go for drinks only 👍🏻

We love this pub. It has great food and a lovely beer garden the kids enjoy. However they no longer allow dogs in the beer garden. Apparently due to COVID-19. I’m not sure what COVID-19 has to do with dogs in the beer garden but I am not willing to pay to sit in the car park I can do that for free in Tesco! No other pub I am aware of has had to change where dogs can go due to COVID-19. The government certainly hasn’t provided any guidelines in relation to dogs. We won’t be back until this has changed.

Have passed this place many, many times.Decided to visit at the weekend (Sat Afternoon) and was very pleasantly surprised when we entered the venue. The inside is a very olde worldy pub, roaring real fires, keeping the bar and eating areas very warm and cosy.Bar had plenty of draught beers on offer at a very reasonable price. We had a starters (combo for 2) which was plentiful and filling, had to consider whether we would eat all of our mains. The menu had a good variety of main meals, seemingly home cooked on the premises and again value for money for a non chain pub. The choice was of a good variety but we didn't feel overloaded with too much to chose from.Staff were friendly and welcoming, the lady tending the bar, taking orders and constantly busy tending the fires was very helpful and is a credit to the venue. There is an area set aside for anyone who wishes to take well behaved dogs in, which certainly wasn't a problem for us.Thank you, will be back very soon.

Visited yesterday with my daughter as she was treating me to afternoon tea. She had booked for 12 noon and were the first in the pub but we didn't feel at all uncomfortable. The landlady was lovely , very welcoming , showed us to our table and brought our pot of tea we requested. When the food came is was very well presented on a 2 tier slate stand with assorted sandwiches, scotch egg, mini quiche and hot brusheta on the bottom. The top was cream scones, chocolate cake, Bakewell tart and lemon cake. All the savoury and sweets were deliscious, fresh and appetizing. We had the choice of prosecco or gin after we had finished and both plumped for the gin. We were enjoying ourselves so much we bought a further couple of gins and when my Husband and Son came to pick us up they stayed for a drink as well. I would highly recommend for a nice change in a cosy setting.

I was sat in the extension area of this pub from 1pm to 18:30pm. The main reason i like to sit in this area is because it is handy for the disabled toilet. whilst sat there i saw one woman that was disabled use the toilet and on one occasion she had to wait for a able bodied person to exit the toilet before she could go in. I saw a female member of staff use the toilet when the female toilets are next door. I saw many regulars of the pub use the toilet to save walking to the one they should use and when i got up to use the toilet it had been locked and i was told to use the toilet at the far end of the pub. When i explained that i was disabled the toilet was unlocked but i was treat like a liar and when i tried to have a bit of banter with the person that had locked it i was told to "just use the toilet" and it was obvious that he did not believe me. The next time i use this pub i will carry my blue badge with me and will be happy to show it before i use the disabled toilet. Lets hope the management get there act in order. I was treat as a liar and that is not good enough. If i get a seat in the same area i will take some photo's to show how this facility is being abused.

However, the pub is very inviting, with friendly staff and two coal fires. There is a good range of traditional pub grub that is home made. They say you get what you pay for and this is true here. While the food is not cheap by modern pub standards, at about £8 or so for typical main course, the quality is superb and much better that you would get elsewhere where the emphasis seems to be on two for one offers. There is a good range of drinks and beers on offer.I highly recommend this excellent establishment.

All in all, a lovely, friendly, cosy little pub, with (so a staying customer told us) very nice rooms too!Definitely would recommend, big thumbs up!

We have only been here twice and both times have had a brilliant lunch. It is a cosy, friendly little pub. It prob best to book if you going for Sunday lunch as it a small pub it gets very busy but having said that if you have to sit and wait it is well worth it. Everyone is so friendly we will def be going back (the steak & ale pie is brilliant)

Lovely atmosphere in an olde worlde Pub nice to see log fires on a very cold day in January, we all had the home made meat pie it was excellent and quite a plateful with choice of different potatoes of chips or mash or new potatoes. There were a few people in having meals but not too busy as it was a lunchtime. It is advisable to but at certain times as it could get busy as it is not a very large dinning area. We shall be meeting friends again later on this month.

We live literally around the corner from the ship but have never been in before - why I don't know? My wife's parents and grandparents often frequent the ship for a bar meal and always give it a good word - we happened to be passing on a day off together so thought why not pop in. Very friendly welcome from the lady behind the bar, couldn't fault her service, politeness and customer service one bit! The pub itself is a proper old school pub with church pew seats, a roaring open fire, walls filled with historical pictures and local artefacts - really nice traditional surroundings. Their food menu is a proper pub menu too, nothing fancy just good old pub grub. Generous portions at reasonable prices with a decent selection to boot. We will definitely return and recommend it to others. We didn't even realise it had rooms available too which is handy to know when we have friends and family visiting for out of town it's an alternative to the Kingswood hotel near us.

Went here for a garden party and I really enjoyed myself. The food was very good and the drinks tasty. Well worth considering next time you plan a party in my opinion.

Friendly pub. One barmaid who is very talkative. Went as a party of four. Lunchtime meal took forty five minutes to appear. Barmaid claimed they were very busy but did not see many customers. Food hot and well cooked and tasty on arrival. Standard menu with good size portions, average price £8.00 per meal.

Lovely cozy pub with open fires and a real country feel about it. It has overnight accommodation at the back of the hotel for anyone wanting to stay over. All the meals are lovely but on a Friday they do fish chips peas and bread and butter at a special price and it is lovely.

After passing the ship inn whilst visiting a nearby garden centre we decided to call in for Sunday lunch as we've never visited it before. It has a typical country pub look with parking behind the main building and a grassed area behind the inn too.The interior has an nautical theme throughout which can be expected given the name of the inn.Several interesting pieces of maritime paraphernalia adorn the walls and roof beams; in the main pub part there was a nice open fire, most welcome as the weather outside was cold with rain turning to hailstone. The place seemed popular enough with what seemed a lot of regulars dining. The lady who greeted us was polite but aloof in her manor compared with her interaction with the people we thought were regulars, a small point but noticeable, a friendly manor to all wouldn't hurt. The usual choice for Sunday lunches were on offer with steak and ale pie added to them, was on one blackboard another board had specials upon it and a menu was made available too; so plenty of choice. My partner opted for a roast beef lunch and I chose the steak and ale pie. The Sunday lunch was offered in a large or small serving. The meals were acceptable but nothing outstanding, my partner said the beef was very nice but the veg ( cabbage, carrots and cauliflower) was over cooked and a bit water and I concurred about the veg. My pie was okay, the meat tender enough but the pastry wasn't to my liking being to dry in texture. We decided to try a dessert after our meal and both chose the sponge and custard off the menu which was very nice.Portion size of both meals in our opinion were small compered to other hostelries in the near vicinity however saying that the price is lower then them so arguably this reflects in the pricing.

After traipsing around Hull for a dog friendly pub I found this gem. It was quite busy for a Thursday lunchtime but my two well behaved dogs were more than welcomed. The barman got them some water and a dog biscuit each. I enjoyed a long cold Erdinger too. Would have stayed for more if I hadn’t wasted my time looking for such a pub. Nice place, good range of beers, friendly atmosphere and the staff more than helpful.

A friend suggested this little cafe. Didn't really know what to expect but loved everything I got. Service was great with the people behind the counter being very friendly.
