Came for dinner and a few drinks with my partner. The service was fantastic! Nothing was too much trouble for the girls behind the bar and the food was great. We had the haddock and chips and the gammon.

Took our grandson out for lunch..not been here for a few years so we thought we would give it try..NEVER AGAIN.we waited 45 minutes for the food,when it arrived you could see it had been sitting around.the littles ones tomato pasta was congealed and luke warm,my chips were hot but my steak sandwhich was cold,and my wife's food was just warm.it was disgusting..imo,i would not recommend eating here..when we asked why it had been so long,we were told they were busy by the waitress they were busy doing Christmas dinners but ours was obviously cooked and left sitting around to go cold..it only got the 1 * because a zero option wasn't there.. 29/11/24..

Food was phenomenal, the best food I've ever had!! The selection of beers, sprits and wines were great, they even have my favourite gin which i cant find in any other pub. Megan and Teresa were really helpful, polite and an absolute pleasure to speak to. We will definitely be coming back to try more of the menu. Can't wait to come back.

Great place to meet friends and family and dine, reasonably priced food and drinks couldn’t recommend enough! we visit here often and the staff are always welcoming and the atmosphere is always pleasant. Tracey and her team are fabulous, special mention to Megan for her fast and efficient service always polite and accommodating and her food recommendations are a bonus! Credit to the team! Came in for a drink this evening, was welcomed in out of the cold. Staff as always very welcoming, Levi and Treasa's treated us with opening arms and accommodating, such a pleasure to end our week on such a pleasant evening with laughter and smiles from the staff. Stayed in hotel - ship Inn staff were amazing Nothing was too much trouble. Theresa and Levi both work so hard to deliver an efficient and enjoyable experience. Food was excellent tasty and hot.

A wonderful time in the Ship. We were staying at the Premier Inn next door. We had an evening meal with family and friends. Very nice. Teresa and Levi were really helpful and professional, nothing too much trouble. Next morning we had booked for breakfast and again everything perfect 👌 , great service and food. We went to the Ship Inn today, and the service from Megan was brilliant. The restaurant is also dog friendly.The food was excellent, as it always is. The Black Sheep ale was also good. I do have a gripe though. I was emailed a 25% off voucher for mains as I am a regular customer. For my wife I ordered 3 courses off the set menu which should have been £11.99. However I lost out by £5.28 as I was charged £17.27 ( £19.27 as the 3 courses were charged separately less 25% discount on my wife's £7.99 main). I did get a correct 25% discount of £2 on my £7.99 main. So my tip to you is too save money by paying for the set menu dishes separately from the rest of the order. Oh, and don't forget to enter your car registration at the bar to get free parking.

It's a great pub, good food, decent beer and the staff are always friendly and welcoming...and the coal fires are awesome in the cold weather 🔥 You really can't go wrong!

The staff are so welcoming here and I have had most of the things on the menu. My faves are the chicken skewer, chicken tikka, gamon, mixed grill and the burgers! Honestly you can't go wrong

It pains me to leave this review, we’ve used The Ship quite a bit in recent months largely because the food has been good, the staff are pleasant and they have a wide selection of craft beers. It’s generally a nice place to visit. Today, we called in for a late lunch / early dinner and order Hunters chicken that we’ve had previously. As my wife was at the till she was offered a choice of fries, skin on ( as stated on the menu), chunky fries or Cajun fries. Knowing that I like Cajun she’d opted for those. When the meal arrived, the fries were covered in a coloured sauce, I asked the waitress what the sauce was and was told mayonnaise. I really don’t care for mayo in any guise and so I let the waitress know that I don’t eat mayo and that we weren’t made aware of this when offered the options st the till. We were told in no uncertain terms that the kitchen wouldn’t change them at best they’d pick the mayo covered fries out. This immediately got my back up. No remedy was offered. Had I been offered replacement fries, even at extra cost then that would have been fine. Even if she’d have said “oh you fussy bugger, I’ll get you some more without mayo but they’ll cost you another fiver” I’d have laughed and said ok. We’ve brought friends here in the past, we’ve ordered premium drinks on each visit and spent quite a bit of money, we’ve recommended the place to friends. It’s obvious after today however that this place doesn’t care about its clientele and we won’t be visiting again. This review is not a reflection on the rest of the younger bar staff as they are nothing but pleasant and lovely. The chefs are also superb, the po faced front of house food server however needs a lesson in customer service.

We visited here again on Thursday lunchtime. I think this is my favourite pub in the world! It's a lovely family type pub/restaurant with helpful and courteous staff and pleasant surroundings. We were served today by Tracy, Victoria and Theresa, all of whomst were nothing short of outstanding: As always all the staff made us feel both important and valued all afternoon. Well done to all, we'll see you again soon x

Today I was a part of a walking group of 28 people! i really was not expecting the amazing standard of ALL the dishes that came from the kitchen. It’s a few years since i have eaten here, but it was delicious 😋i had the multi seed avocado with tandoori chicken kebab with a pineapple and ginger dressing absolutely gorgeous. My friends all raved about their choices all the dishes were hot, considering it was a large group service was great 10/10. Well done Tracey and Theresa and your team 😋 I will be back next week and will recommend to all my family and friends.

Lovely pub with real working fireplaces, great food and dog friendly too. Really good choices on menu and veggie options are really tasty. They allow dogs and have a water bowl and some nice treats too. There is a premier inn right behind the pub too if you decide to make a night of it. 🤪

We came as a family to try the sunday dinners at the ship inn and they were delicious, even the kids ones were huge and had plenty on them. The beef was amazing and just fell off the bone!! There was a bit of a wait for our food to come, but the lady serving us noticed that the kids were getting rowdy and came over with some colouring pages and crayons for them which kept them busy while we waited which we appreciated but it was worth waiting when it came. Will be back soon to get that beef rib again

Came for a sunday lunch today as we've heard that its good and it did not disappoint. Unfortunately when we arrived they had ran out of the duo dinners and the roasties but we were offered mash and baby potatos instead which were lovely. We will be back earlier next time to try the different meats but the chicken we had was gorgeous thanks for the lovely meal

Just had Sunday dinner, even though it was 8pm, the food was fresh and hot, the breef rib just fell off the bone. We are lucky to have this just round the corner. Staff are brilliant, an all round good night out.

The staff are great, friendly and knowledgeable about their business. I like that it is dog friendly and unlike some pub chains you can eat from the full menu and not just snacks at the bar. There is a designated area where you can sit with your pet and they provide tins with dog biscuits, chews and bowls of water. The atmosphere is friendly and warm.

Live local and try to come out to eat as often as we can! Been to the Ship only a couple of times before last time in July and it was ok! Went again this evening with family! Sat for 50 minutes waiting for food! Had to ask for desserts after 30 minutes of finishing main course and then desserts arrived and plates still hadn’t been taken even though several glass collectors had collected our empty glasses! Very disappointed this evening!

Absolutely lovely team who couldn't help enough after what could have been a big issue. One of our team had an accident outside the pub and the ladies here were quick to help us. Leaving a review as stopped in for a coffee today and will be brining the dog and wife here for a meal next week. Lovley team, beautiful pub and food smelled great! My husband and I visited on 25th July for what we thought would be a quick bite. 1hour 35 minutes later our food arrived. It was a Thursday night,the pub was pretty empty I counted 3 members of staff and the manager. Arrived approx 6.45pm bought a drink then ordered food at 7pm. Our meals arrived at 8.20pm! I made 3 trips to the bar to check on the delay to be told by Theresa that they had a large party that were being seen to first. Theresa although polite, didn't seem bothered. A drink was offered by way of apology but this seemed half hearted. Food wasn't great either not like it once was. Very disappointed. Furthermore less than a week later, we received a parking fine for £100. Parking notices didn't seem obvious to us. We didn't execpt to record our information to park at the pub. Apparently you need to input your details when you arrive on a pad. Thankfully we were able to sort this out, we had to prove we'd been there. Maybe a reminder on the tables or on the receipt will be helpful to remind customers to record their visit. Poor service all round, we won't be returning.

Great experience, we come quite often as a couple and we're never disappointed. The staff are very helpful, and are always willing to go above and beyond to make your experience a good one, and the food is amazing, I definitely recommend the Tandoori Skewer, one of our favourites! Can't wait to come back!

Staff went above and beyond compared to many places who take customers for granted. Food was served with an appetising appeal and tasted as good as it looked. Will certainly consider as our local for meals

Very disappointing. Sunday roast had been recommended by a relative but don't understand why. Waited 30 minutes for meal to arrive and when it did the chicken was still on the bone with skin on and the gammon was wafer thin. The roast potatoes tasted like warm ups from frozen and there was no cauliflower cheese available even though it was on the menu. Asked for mustard but told they didn't have any so asked for Cranberry sauce. Waitress said she would bring some but never returned with any. Will stick to a Toby carvery in future.

Went in today as a party of 12, everyone said the food was really good. I had the fish and chips, and can honestly say it was the best fish I've ever had in a pub. Very impressed and will be back.

Ordered at the table via the Ember Inns App, my friend and I ordered the 'Fixed Price Evening Two Course Set Menu'. We both ordered the Beer Battered Mushrooms served with a Cool Sour Cream Dip for our starters & the Thick Cut Gammon Steak served with Seasoned Chips, Garden Peas, Grilled Tomato and your choice of Two Free Range Fried Eggs, Chargrilled Fresh Pineapple or one of each for our mains. On the drinks menu there are 0.0% Rekorderlig Strwberry & Lime which we ordered at the bar but were told they didn't have any so Water it was for us! We waited approximately 45 minutes and then enquired at the bar how long our meals would be as we had popped out from a nearby hospital and wanted to back there as quickly as possible due to our friends deteriating health, we were told there was a delay with food, an unknown male customer at the bar was sniggering and seemed amused by our enquiry! When our food then arrived at the table our main course was served before the starter. The Thick Cut Gammon was nice but the Chips were Definateley not Seasoned chips just plain frozen chips that were still hard in places, my friend ordered two eggs and I ordered one of each, the eggs were overcooked and hard, the Pineapple was nice although sliced very thin. The Beer Battered Mushrooms arrived half way through our main course but with a bbq dip without explanation. We asked about the cool sour cream dip and were then told 'oh sorry we havnt got any!' The Mushrooms were stuck together and quite greasy. The money we had paid for the Mushrooms was refunded at the end of our meal. Another couple that were eating in the dog friendly area of the pub put the pubs crockery on the floor and let their dog eat off it! Our experience at The Ship Inn was not good on this occasion and we probably wouldn't return!

First time I've been here & wanted to go for a while & wasn't disappointed. It's a lovely pub, oldie style, very relaxing. Plenty of seating with different size tables & I love the eclectic choice of chairs with each one. Food was lovely, fresh made, and not ping (microwave) food, which is a big pet hate of mine. It's order at table using QR code & wasn't a long wait for food to arrive. Staff are very friendly & helpful. The toilets were nice & clean. My only negative is the car park is very small & tight. *Also if you go by car please go to the machine inside the pub & enter your numberplate details, if you don't you will receive a parking fine* I will visit again & I would definitely recommend The Ship Inn.

This is a really nice, friendly pub. There is a decent selection of beers and other drinks on the menu. We had a couple of meals there while staying in the nearby hotel and the food was nice and not overpriced. We need more pubs like the Ship Inn.

Sadly the ship inns bottomless brunch wasn’t the experience I am used to at this establishment,, I’ve been more than a dozen times before and never complained until now,,

The food and service were excellent. The choice on the new menu was lovely. My daughter is vegetarian and myself and my other daughter, is pescatarian. There was also my mum who has an allergy to cows milk. Everyone was catered for. And allergy compliance followed. Thank you

No vegetarian option was available had sold out ended up with a veggi burger and Sunday roast veg all cabbage and peas maybe some onions or it might have been leeks starter arrived after main course and was cold soggy beer baterd mushrooms won't be visiting here again

Scrambled egg served on bread , dry bread ! Bacon sandwich served on bread, dry bread Most unappetising. The Ship used to be a favourite for breakfast …. not any more.

Went the ship inn with family and we had a baby with us table booked for 18.30 and we were still waiting at 20.15 and still not food by this time a member of my family had to leave with the baby eventually the food appeared and after the food we waited another 40 mins for the sweet as we were leaving not one member of staff had the decency to apologise for the long wait not bothered in the slightest so no definitely won’t be visiting here again.

We visited as a large party for my son’s birthday, there was 14 of us, we all ordered separately either on the app or at the bar - and our server checked that they’d received all of our orders before confirming them with the kitchen so that they all came out at the same time. A few of our party got the rib of beef Sunday dinner and said it was absolutely incredible, just fell off the bone - all of our meals were great, we really enjoyed our visit - friendly staff, willing to stop and have a chat and help you. Thanks, we’ll be back soon!

First time visiting here even though it's quite local, there is a different menu for Sundays so we chose from the regular menu which offers typical pub food. Portions aren't on the large side- the chicken dish I wanted was all gone so I opted for the pie sadly it was over cooked and the crust was solid... my partners burger was 'ok' she replied but lacked a side salad / garnish. There is a nice open fire and it's quite a large place with ample parking, staff were friendly, It was basically a quick tea out and much the same as 100's of similar pub chain outlets you come across.

Food was lovely, wait times from our starters to our mains were a little longer than anticipated but this was due to how busy it was. The food was worth the wait though. Thank you Ship inn you done a great job on a busy Friday night
