The Ship Inn in South Lakeland

Extremely rude staff and awful food. We’ve been here several times but the bar staff have got worse each time. My advice, do not go.

Mooi etablissement! Deze lokatie is heerlijk om even wat te drinken en te genieten van het uitzicht over “the lake”. Mooi ingericht en heerlijke koffie. We zijn er twee keer geweest om wat te drinken maar wat we voorbij zagen komen aan eten zag er verrukkelijk uit.

Had eaten here few times before food was good.Took my family for birthday meal was so disappointed to say the least. Steak and ale pie was disgusting meat so tuff and tasted like it was a week old cold verge half cooked frozen chips. My daughters pizza looked like it had been thrown against a wall so hard and burnt she could not eat it. Chicken burger was plain dry bun salad and sauce was missing.over all awful food won't go back.

After a lovely walk along the lake, we came across here and decided to stop for a drink. The quayside has lots of seating options available both inside and outside, however as it was a lovely sunny afternoon, we opted to sit outside and take in their amazing views over the boats and lake. What an absolutely amazing view. Drinks very lovely too, you can't beat a glass of chilled Cruzcampo on a lovely sunny day. The inside is beautifully designed and decorated throughout. Would definitely recommend and return here the next time we are visiting Windermere.

Great views of the lake, lovely sandwich lunch washed down with a pint and glass of wine for us - mixed clientele with kids well looked after, pleasant staff and speedy service - nice outdoor seating area as well - will be back

Fast service and nice location, however staff were rude and not child friendly whatsoever. Would not recommend to anybody with children.

Terrible management who are aggressive and looking for trouble, any excuse not to serve or accommodate. The manager (or owner I believe) is clearly bored and looks to make mountains out of mole hills. Some of the staff are lovely but I wouldn’t waste your time going here and supporting such a business. Much nicer places to go in Windermere, steer clear

Food was nowhere near as good as it has been on our previous visits. It wasn't a very big portion of fish for the price.

I don’t know what all the moaning is about. Just had lunch here, did track & trace at the door and was allocated a table straight away. The staff were very attentive, the food ordered came quickly & piping hot. Roast Turkey dinner for the wife which she said was very nice (could of done with a bit more gravy but you’re not complaining about that) I had the beef & ale pie very nice indeed. It is what it is, if you want A LA Carte, go pay them prices. Well done to all staff

Was greeted by a very surly chap who appeared to be having a bad day and did not know of the correct protocol of social distancing and where our group of people could sit and how far apart.Thank goodness we saw the light and went elsewhere where we were greeted with smiles and great customer service,

Visited here today with my partner , was greeted right away and sat outside which was nice . They took our drinks order and then got told they had no bottled water and so we were reimbursed for the water . Fine so far ! Then ordered our food we had quite a bit of time free until our boat trip so we ordered starters , a waiter then came out and asked if we wanted all our food at the same time we said no ! 5 mins later my boyfriend had no drink at this point they brought out all our food at the same time ! So we had mains and starters on the table having to eat our mains first encase they got cold ! Way too much food to eat at once . The vegetables were horrible and we didn’t get any offer of gravy to go with my pie! I then had to eat my starter after ! No apology was offered , why would anyone want starters and mains together!

The food was decent enough hence why this isn't getting 1 star, but if you are thinking of coming here for Euro 2020 then I'd avoid this pub if you want any sort of atmosphere. Firstly, I wasn't allowed to enter unless my full group was with me, which meant that our group was split in two. Secondly, when my partner arrived with the baby, they weren't allowed to sit near as there was "no room for the pram" when there clearly was. Thirdly, I have respected rules for COVID throughout but I must have missed the one where you are not allowed to have the TV on a volume that could be heard. Multiple people asked if the TV could be turned up as nobody could hear it, but every time we were told that it wasn't allowed to be any louder. I'd understand it more if the volume was already loud enough but I was sat about 10ft from the TV and I couldn't hear it. In fact, the music coming from the kitchen was louder than the TV! The door manager or whoever he was has clearly never watched a game of football before as he didn't understand that we just wanted to hear the game. If you want to watch any match, particularly any England match, I would avoid this place.

Arrived in windermere Sunday 6th June with my wife, Headed straight over to The Ship Inn, Politely asked the doorman for a table outside, Possibly at the front, So we could sit and enjoy some food and drink after our long drive. The doorman abruptly told us. No tables! After a little walk down to the marina, My wife pointed out there were in fact more empty tables outside than guests... Strange! So under instruction, I returned to said doorman, And politely mentioned there were lots of tables empty, Could he please recheck for us. Only to be abruptly told by this Doorman...... Go away!, With your skinny spaghetti legs! with a real look of anger in his eyes. I asked to speak to management, And was again told... Go away skinny man, I am the boss today.I obviously stayed calm and laughed. All of this at lunchtime, In front of paying customers sat at the pubs tables. I wouldn't mind, But this guy was obviously on steroids, Didn't have one hair on his head. And was wearing a shirt 3 times to small. Don't waste your money guys, VERY RUDE!

Very run down and in need of a refurb.Food was shockingly poor - we ordered a cheese ploughmans and fish and chip. I had no idea a salad could be done so badly! The cheese had been out a while and it was served with barely any salad!

Took ages to get served although the staff were pleasant. The food was awful - presumably this is the norm as they didn't question why our plates were full when clearing them. The worst food we had during a week long stay. It did have a nice view over the lake.

We visited this restaurant because of the wonder views, unfortunately the food and service was appalling. Mt partner had actually eaten half of the burger before realising that the bottom half of the bread was covered with mould. We waited over 15 mins to catch the attention of a member of staff and she did say that we didn’t have to pay for the mouldy meal.Not good enough really, we should of insisted that we should not pay for either meal as the whole occasion was ruined, also we both felt ill all night suffering from stomach ache.

I attended with my family today and was advised we could sit outside and use the QR scanner to place an order. We ordered drinks which arrived promptly: the staff on the door were super helpful. I placed a separate food order and the waiter came to the table to advise what I had ordered was not available and offered an alternative which I accepted. The order was placed at 12:55 and other tables had filtered in after us and been served so by 13:30 I asked where our order was. I was advised by the staff that it was ridiculous to expect the food to be as prompt as we had only waited 30 mins. But I saw the waiter check the outstanding orders and there wasn’t one for the table I was sat at. Then the female staff member I spoke to asked to see my banking app to prove I had paid. When I said i couldn’t wait any longer as my 3 year old was starting to get fed up she said they were very busy and I shouldn’t expect quick service because it’s a bank holiday. I received a partial refund as the full order wasn’t reimbursed- I had asked if this would be returned to my card and left hastily. The serving staff did come after me with cash to refund some of the order. Actually if they had apologised and said we had been missed or handled it differently I wouldn’t have left or complained. It was the attitude of the staff that irritated me more than waiting 35 minutes for food that never materialised. Being busy isn’t an excuse for poor customer service. So I won’t be returning. I can’t give a score for the food - as I didn’t receive any. So be sure when you place an order to check your junk box so you can prove you paid- just in case you end up dealing with the same person I did today. Having to show someone your banking app in a crowded restaurant is humiliating.

We popped in for a coffee but ended up returning for lunch another day and dinner. You cannot book, but we on turning up we got a table as I think it can seat 100 people plus there is a large outdoor area. Service is very swift, staff very cheerful and heplful, they spotted we were struggling on a small table after changing our minds from drink to food and put us on a larger one. Lovely views out over the lake from outside and if you get a window seat or near the windows. Lovely real ale on pump, good choice of other drinks and food selection excellent and very fresh. My only small gripe is I had a rib eye steak and the plate was rather small, with the steak hidden under the chips and onion rings. I think it would be better they had the steak as the focus and had the chips and/or onion rings served in a separate dish/bowl. Most tables had been screened off from each other, we felt very safe. Sebastion served us and made us very welcome. Nice to see happy staff.

Our first trip for a meal since lockdown eased to let us eat inside. Food is lovely, staff are great, track and trace app used, hygeine good, with social distancing . eat in or out. Wonderful views of the marina and lake while you eat.

Had lunch here on my trip, it's a good location and we sat outside because the weather was lovely. Had pizza and ice cream sundae and both were very tasty.

We visited the Ship tonight to watch the football and we were directed downstairs where we were greeted by a friendly young man who showed us to a table with a good view of the big screen. Our order was taken quickly and the food only took a short while. I had gammon with egg chips peas tomato and mushrooms. It was very tasty and well presented. My partner had scampi chips and peas which again was well presented and tasty. The service was exceptional, with just two people serving drinks and food to quite a full bar, as well as tables outside. They still had chance to check on us regularly despite been so busy. I’d definitely recommend coming here to watch the football and have a great meal too!

The place is in such a lovely spot with a beautiful view, you would think it was a great place to eat. I got the carbonara which tasted like overcooked spaghetti in double cream, the ‘bacon’ pieces were like shredded pork that tasted more like tuna. My partners experience was not as bad (bolognese) but it was still tasteless and very watery. 100% would not return.

Well, the food was ok. The staff wasn’t the friendliest. I am not sure if it was because of my accent, or my wife wearing a hijab. It started with an interrogation from the ‘front desk’ person (it is COViD days, for thise reading this in the future) about why the kids are not in school, and after I have explained to him that it is Eid, what Eid is, and that we have permission from their teachers, he started to inquire how we travelled to the UK if we are from Egypt, during these travel restrictions. I again found myself explaining that we are from Egypt, but we live in the UK.They had us pay the bill immediately after serving the starters, which is not even good business. There was no chance we could some dessert to our order or even give some tip if we liked the food, we’ve already paid. And we weren’t gonna run away without paying.It’s a shame, because the view was fantastic, food was good, but staff can definitely do better.

If you are going to have an accident & sustain a head injury , there is no better place to go to ask for help ! We only asked for a piece of ice to put my rapidly swelling head. The doorman not only quickly produced the ice, but he sat us down in the lovely outdoor seating area. The manager then appeared & he was such a lovely kind man. we were brought tea & coffee &he was very concerned about my injury & obvious state of shock. He called an ambulance to get me checked out. I was ok but felt sorry that we could not stay to eat some of the lovely food they were producing, as I did not feel I could eat anything. The fellow diners were obviously really enjoying their meals & we will definately make a point of going there next time we are in Bowness for a meal. It has a lovely position just on The Glebe with the lake beside it & plenty of covid safe out door tables. Thank you soo much The Ship Inn.

My husband and I ate here the other night. We chose here as we’ve eaten here before. The staff were very friendly and the service was good. Unfortunately the food wasn’t very good. Both our meals were lukewarm at best. As it was nearly closing time we only ate a bit of it and left. Shame because last time it was lovely. Don’t think we’d try it again.

Food average until we found a hair in it. Bald guy who worked there with his collars pulled up very unprofessional and grumpy. When we sent food back he was constantly spying on us. When we went to leave he glared at us and said ‘other door’ however the other door clearly had one way arrows in front and was busy with customers coming in. Definitely please don’t waste your money here! Avoid at all costs!

Do NOT go in if you have a disability totally rude staff. I would not have paid but was threatened with the police. Rude staff and arrogant bar staff stay away

While on holiday in Bowness, we went to the Ship for a tea time meal. We often eat there when in Bowness and have always had a nice meal with friendly staff. This time, the meal didn't come with its accompanying sides, upon asking for it, the staff were very rude. 20 minutes later it still hadn't arrived, so we asked again and it arrived from a very sour faced member of staff. No salt or condiments were offered so we had to ask for them too. All in all, very disappointing, average food and staff with no manners or customer service experience. Will give it a miss next time. We will go somewhere where the staff are pleasant to us.

Sat outside on a lovely day with a drink. We didn’t eat here but the food looked good. Plenty of seating in and out.

¡Albóndigas ordenadas, absolutamente sin textura para ellos, más como un paté de comida para perros enrollado! Se sirvió en una cama de pasta penne que estaba tan hervida que estaba llorosa y descuidada y ¡literalmente me sentí enferma al tratar de tragarla! Nada de pimientos con cebolla ni nada más que un paté / salsa de tomate enlatado espeso. No le ofrecería esto a una persona sin hogar, era tan malo. Le dije al chico extranjero que nos atendió que solo nos miró como si fuéramos estúpidos y no dijo una palabra en respuesta a nuestra queja más que entregar una máquina de tarjetas para el pago completo. Tuvimos que aplastar varias moscas lejos de nuestra mesa y ni una sola vez nos preguntaron cómo estaba la comida. No se ofreció ningún descuento por la absoluta desgracia que nos sirvieron. Nunca volvería ni lo recomendaría, ¡de hecho, EVITE A TODO COSTO! ! ! ! ! Además, los baños no eran los más limpios y los desinfectantes de manos en la entrada estaban vacíos, se veía a la gente entrar sin máscaras y tampoco se les confrontaba. ¡Hazard en su máxima expresión!

Excelente ubicación, nos sentamos en la mesa junto a la ventana con vista al lago. El servicio era bueno, comprar la comida era normalito. Mi marido comió pescado y patatas fritas y luego deseó haber ido al Chippy un poco más arriba en la carretera. Comí sopa de tomate que estaba deliciosa con media baguette de ternera, estaba un poco seca y aburrida, al menos hubiera esperado un poco de guarnición de ensalada con ella.No volvería, ya que creo que probablemente haya mejores restaurantes para comer en la zona.

Éramos 5 para una comida, originalmente nos llevaron a una mesa lo suficientemente grande para 3, se trasladó sin demasiado alboroto. Pedí bebidas y como dos de nosotros manejábamos, pedimos 2 cafés blancos, estos llegaron negros, pidieron un poco de leche y les dijeron que se habían acabado durante el desayuno, no eran las 16:00 así que no podía creer que nadie hubiera salido a comprar un poco, de todos modos terminamos con crema, pero estuvo bien.Fue muy difícil entender a la mesera por culpa de la máscara, así que tuve que pedirle que repitiera. Tenía rosbif, mucha carne, aunque no tallada en un porro, pero estaba bien.Comida a un precio razonable y a buen precio.Buena comida si estás sentado en la parte de atrás.

Entré para ver un partido de fútbol con más amigos que se unieron más tarde para comer, nos colocaron en una mesa no lo suficientemente grande para nuestro grupo, así que pedimos que nos cambiaran, lo cual no fue un problema. Mientras nos mudamos, preguntamos si se permitían perros dentro del pub para que nos dijeran que sí, sin embargo, cuando nuestros amigos aparecieron con los perros, se les negó la entrada. Luego, la camarera nos dijo que no entendía porque no habla inglés, no es un problema, pero si no entiende la pregunta, ¿por qué no consultar con otra persona? . Logramos conseguir una mesa afuera y pedimos que nos trajeran un entrante con las comidas principales cuando lo trajeron solo pedimos el resto de las comidas y la misma camarera se dirigió a su colega y le dijo “eso mucho gimiendo de nuevo ”. Solo se llama para tomar una bebida, debido a las precauciones de Covid, las bebidas solo se sirven en el área exterior, si tiene comida, hay un amplio espacio en el interior.Preciosas vistas sobre el lago.Personal amable, precios razonables para Bowness.Lamentablemente, no se nos permitió reservar una mesa para el almuerzo del domingo, comprensiblemente debido a la situación actual y a la forma en que los bares / restaurantes están tratando de controlar sus lugares.

Fuimos a comer y beber. El portero fue increíble y muy servicial y muy amigo. Sin embargo, cuando pedimos nuestras bebidas, mi amigo y yo compramos una ginebra con limonada, pero la limonada se había ido y tenía un sabor horrible. Luego llevamos la bebida a la barra y preguntamos cortésmente si podían cambiarse. El barman luego nos acusó de mentir y probó las bebidas. Luego fue a cambiar la limonada después de darse cuenta de que no estaba bien. Luego, cuando regresó, procedió a decir que no habíamos pedido dobles, así que regresó a nuestra mesa para pedir a nuestros socios una prueba. Finalmente, después de unos 20 minutos, volvió y nos sirvió bebidas nuevas, pero no se disculpó y no mostró ningún remordimiento y tiró las bebidas en la barra. Luego fuimos a pedir nuestra comida y pedimos unos trozos de Brie y luego, cuando recibimos el recibo, decía trozos de patata. Luego lo llevamos al bar y le explicamos que no habíamos ordenado eso y él solo asintió y se rió de nosotros como si fuéramos idiotas. ! Dos de nosotros también pedimos una hamburguesa y pedimos guisantes y patatas fritas con las que estaban destinados a venir. Cuando llegó la comida, solo obtuvimos papas fritas y no verduras y, sorpresa, obtuvimos gajos de papa y no gajos de Brie a pesar de que habíamos intentado señalarlo y solucionarlo. En lugar de escuchar, fue grosero y arrogante con nosotros y nos pareció que tenía razón y también les preguntamos por ellos para empezar. Le pregunté educadamente a la camarera si podíamos cambiarlos y le expliqué la situación y ella lo rectificó y estuvo bien. Las cuñas también llegaron 10 minutos después de que terminamos nuestra comida. Cuando revisamos el menú, los precios eran diferentes a los que nos habían cobrado y cuando se le preguntó, fingió que no estaba seguro de lo que estábamos diciendo. No obtuvimos disculpas ni nada de ellos. En general, evita este lugar a menos que disfrutes que te hablen como a un niño y te hagan sentir como un idiota.

Nos recibieron en nuestra mesa. Salvia covid.Gran asiento junto a la ventana con vistas al lago.Mi compañero pidió el almuerzo de domingo de carne que disfrutó. Desafortunadamente para mí, no hay asado vegetariano los domingos que estaba esperando. Entonces opté por la lasaña vegetariana. La presentación fue excelente, pero la salsa real era tan dulce que tuve que devolverla. Tengo un diente dulce, pero había sido muy endulzado. ¡Era como un postre al límite! !Si soy honesto, me decepcionó bastante porque me fui con hambre.El personal se ocupó de todo bien y el gerente vino a disculparse y lo tomó de nuestra factura.Todavía recomendaría este restaurante ya que las vistas son preciosas y el personal altamente capacitado y educado.

Went here just after lunch because it was raining my wife and i were just going to have a drink but decided to have a meal as well . The staff were very friendly and telling us what was going to happen due to the Covid ,we were shown to a table and given a menu and was asked what we would like to drink .the drinks and food came to the table very quick and was very hot .The scene looking out onto the lakes while eating was fantastic even when it was terrible outside. Will be going back there again

Food was average and but reasonable prices. Got sat by the toilets and wasn’t allowed to move. Was enjoyable for a late quick dinner and drink

We have not visited this pub for a few years even though we visit Bowness regularly. We popped in today as we walked from the Ferry. One of the only places we found still serving Peroni which is always a good start. Managed to get a seat inside with a lovely view of the Lake and decided to order food which was absolutely spot on. Ferraro rocher cheesecake to follow and I couldn’t have asked for better food, drinks and service. Everything worked really well despite the COVID restrictions and I’ll be visiting again next time we are in Bowness :0) 2 very happy customers!

Had a great experience here. Well organised, one way system works well and everywhere was very clean. Food and drinks were great. Fantastic location with lovely views. Friendly staff.

Sat outside as we had a dog - no problems. We ordered fish & chips , £11.75 each, the fish was tiny & we maybe got 25 chips. ( next doors fish/chips was £8 cheaper) overpriced for the quality & quantity.Toilets were upstairs, had to walk through another bar that had no lights no. No loo paper in the holder as it was scattered across all the loo's floors. The dryer was falling apart, at least 1 tap didnt work.Last came here 3 yrs ago & it was very good, gone down hill. We wont revisit ant time soon. The limited interaction we had with the staff was ok. Far better places to go.

It was a sunny day so we managed to get a table outside this place which had a great view of the marina. We were pleased to note that the social distancing and hygiene rules were in place. We wanted a light lunch so we ordered roast beef baguettes with caramelised onions and salad. We got our drinks served promptly but we had to wait ages for our meals to arrive. We were disappointed when we did as the whole baguette wasn’t tasty and we didn’t enjoy it. Maybe we should have tried something else. We won't rush back.

We tried to get in a few times luckily we got in for tea on Saturday night. Doesn’t look like much from the outside, run down if anything. But don’t be fooled! The inside was lovely and bright, we were taken to a window seat viewing the lake. Lovely home made pub food beef dinner and lasagna. Great atmosphere and music. One of the most COVID safe places in bowness. Screens between tables, one way systems. Very clean, bright bathrooms. Very nice staff too

Started out well, very excited by prospect. C -19 rules seemed to be being adhered top, food looked and smelt enticing. Didn't really notice at the time but some 25mins before starters arrived which have to say with garlic cheesy bread and nachos was great.For main courses, we had to remind them we were here after an hour of waiting with no signs of life, to include the removal of our plates from starters.Mains eventually arrived with three of party expecting battered fish dish, which turned out to be pretty much batter. Almost as though one fish was used for everyone and bulked out with a ridiculous amount of batter. Now don't get me wrong batter is nice and all that but really paying for plates of batter not my idea of a nice meal out.Due to our wait and nearly being last order available for food we ordered desserts. Which arrived prior to anyone bothering to remove our plates etc from mains and meaning that other party members ended up clearing the table whilst I decided to write this, still waiting for my order of course...As you will see from pics (if they allow to appear)... Mains and one of desserts at same time but no-one has yet bothered to come clean or indeed bring the rest of the tables orders.Now if there were loads of us fair enough but six including two kids. Really come on guy's. Up your game.And finally. Turns out that handwash I toilets watered down; and no toilet paper in all bar one of the ladies toilets.Desserts were nice.Bar staff (two lads) friendly.

We visited today , for eat out to help out ! We were lucky and got straight in , to be sat at the window looking over the lake .We followed the one way system , the waitress came and collected our order sheet .The food we had a beef and turkey dinner were delicious. We will defo return staff very friendly and helpful ,

Me and my partner popped in for a lovely lunch overlooking the lake while we were visiting. Whilst the view was lovely and the Covid measures were brilliant, the service was awful. The gentleman on the door was friendly but seemed to be the only one who was. After being seated for 15-20 minutes without anybody even acknowledging we were there we had to ask somebody to find a waitress to take our order (the table next to us had the same problem). Our food took a long time to come out, in the meantime two different people tried to bring items we hadn’t ordered and then proceeded to argue with the bar staff about where it was going. When our food did eventually arrive it was cold but we ate it as we just wanted to enjoy the rest of our day and even cancelled our dessert order. The staff walking around weren’t very friendly and it felt like they didn’t want to be there to be honest.

We visited here for my wife's birthday while we was in bowness we had to sit inside as all seats outside were taken,it was so warm outside i think they could do with some windows that open inside to let a bit of air in,the food was nice bit of a mix up when they brought our mains out with the starters but they quickly sorted the problem out nice place just a bit too uncomfortable when its hot outside and no seat outside to eat/drink.

Visited here a few times over the week, sat inside and outside. Plenty of drinks choices and a good food menu, had lunch one day as part of eat out to help out. Covid controls were very good with instructions given before entering the premises, the manager even got the football on the big screen for me.

Walm welcome at the door and treated with hand sanitiser. Very clever menu combining a track and trace and order system. Used a tick box system to check off menu items you wanted and handed this in at the bar with your track and trace details and table number. Amazing social distancing with screens erected indoors between tables and outdoor seating too. Lovely view of the boats. Food was nice but literally smallest portion of peas with the scampi it was laughable- think they were running out haha!

Having enjoyed a cruise on Windermere, my wife & I were looking for somewhere to have a lunchtime snack before setting off for home, & we were lucky to come across the Ship InnEverything was well laid out & organised for the current health guidelines, & all the staff were very efficientWe both enjoyed baguettes (of turkey & cheese) - all in a lovely setting with a very good view of Windermere - what could be nicer?

Visited Bowness for a few days recently and ate here twice, once at lunchtime and once in the evening. Food and service were good and as far as COVID-19 safety measures are concerned the staff here have it down to a fine art. Of all the places we visited during our stay this was by far the safest. Well done everyone!

Visited for a drink and was very impressed with the Covid 19 secure procedures they had in place. Someone on the door to greet you, take your details and ask you to use hand sanitiser. Shown to a table, with clear markings on the floor to show you where to walk....Similarly to the toilets with plenty of signage and anti bacterial soap and sanitiser everywhere. Staff wearing masks, bar fully protected with plastic screens and plastic screens separating tables, but I loved the screens where decorated with flower garlands to make them look more attractive. Table service was available for drinks and food with disposable menus.Having visited various pubs since lockdown was lifted, The Ship Inn definitely is the one with the best safety procedures in place, we felt very safe and that the owners could do no more to protect either their staff or customers....Would visit again in a flash.

Just popped in for a quick drink they had all the social distancing well organised and the staff are very friendly. All clean and tidy.

Me and my fiancé visited the Ship Inn in February. This is a large sports bar right on the front, by the lake. There is no worries about getting a seat here as there is plenty! There are also a lot of TVs placed in different spots around the bar and lots of sports being shown. Food – We had dinner in here one night, I had lasagne which I really really enjoyed, I’d return just for the lasagne ! My fiancé had a pie which looks amazing!Staff – All members of staff were really really friend and food came super quick. Vibes – This is your typical sports bar, a lot of wooden décor and a round bar, really relaxed! They have candles on the table of an evening and large windows with a view of the lakes. Overall, I would recommend if you want some chilled out drinks, to watch some sports and for some good food too!

Just had a beautiful meal here, our service was quick and friendly. The food was hot and to a great standard with very little waiting time! I had the cajun spiced swordfish which was just to die for. The views are great. The prices are also very reasonable for the lakes. 10/10 will be back.

Lovely views, great fish and chips and the staff were really nice, we were sat in a nice spot in the window without having to ask.

Had a lovely meal each time I have been. Friendly and helpful staff. Great service. went with my mum and other members of my family everyone was happy with the food and the portion size.

Lunch with a view !Called in for a visit while we were visiting Windermere, can’t believe we’ve never been before, so pleased we were hungry as we’ve found a new place to eat !Friendly welcome and given choice of seats. The window seats have amazing views. Quick prompt service to take orders and very surprised and pleased with how quick the meals arrived. Very tasty food we will return .

I love this pub we went last week and I had the steak and ale pie it was beauifull .The views are to die for , it's nice to sit out in the summer too and just watch the world go buy and relax.

Llamados para almorzar, habíamos estacionado a cierta distancia, así que tuve que usar un scooter de movilidad, porque tuve una caída en nuestro primer día. Mi esposo usa uno porque lo necesita. Fue la primera vez para mí, ir a un pub. Me quedé atrapado, el personal nos abrió la puerta, un joven vino a ayudarme, fue muy amable y muy apreciadoTony pidió un desayuno abundante, yo tenía uno pequeño. Cuando llegaron, se veían tan bien, se les sirvió con una sonrisa, también se sirvieron calientes, tan sabrosos, que el tocino estaba cocinado a la perfección. Vino con pan frito, no había pasado ningún año, era tan bueno, el mejor de todos, estoy particular, pero realmente disfruté cada bocado. Tony dijo lo mismo. El mejor de todos. Al día siguiente, de regreso para el almuerzo, Tony comió hígado y cebolla, comí medio pollo y papas fritas, verduras y salsa, ambos disfrutamos nuestra comida nuevamente. Sí, servido con una sonrisa y caliente y sabroso también.Cuando o si nos quedamos en Bowness nuevamente, The Ship Inn será nuestro lugar para comer. Disfrutamos cada comida, que usted o todo el personal.

Been in here a few times. Its a great pub by the Lake so wonderful views. Nice big pub lots of room serving really good food. Service friendly and professional. Worth a visit.

Revisé esto hace 2 años aquí y dije que necesitaba TLC, bueno, todavía lo necesita. pedimos media pizza y papas fritas Margarita por 9. 60 y pensarías que no puedes equivocarte con eso, pero el tamaño de la porción era terrible, ¡mi hijo tenía más papas fritas en la comida de sus hijos! ! ! Esto ha sucedido algunas veces cuando nos hemos ido. La última vez que fuimos a Bowness lo evitamos, pero pensé en intentarlo de nuevo. no verifiquemos nuestra comida tampoco, durante o cuando se despejaron.

This was our first visit and we were lucky enough to get a table with a view of Lake Windermere. This is a pub and the food was very much pub style. We ordered the scampi and a baguette and both were good.

Luego fuimos a abandonar el lugar y una mujer muy muy grosera con el pelo corto exigió que volviéramos ya que no habíamos pagado delante de otros clientes. ! ¡No apreciamos ser llamados ladrones! ! Diciendo en voz alta ¡NO TE ASUSTES! ! Luego, el gerente se involucró y llamó a World Pay, calculó que el pago no se había realizado y que no se tomaría de la cuenta de mis socios. ¡Después de esperar unos 20 minutos, acordamos pagar nuevamente ya que nuestro día se arruinó después de ser humillado en un pub lleno de clientes! ! Como sabíamos todo el tiempo, 2 pagos se tomaron de la cuenta de mis socios, ¡luego nos pusimos en contacto con el gerente que reembolsó uno de los pagos! ! Mis recomendaciones . . . . ¡esa camarera NUNCA debe llevar una tarjeta de cliente! ! ! ¡No podía trabajar en la máquina de tarjetas y no tenía idea de lo que estaba haciendo! ! ¡Que las mujeres con el pelo corto mostraron el PEOR servicio al cliente que he recibido! ! ¡Llamar a los clientes ladrones es asqueroso! ! ! El nuevo personal definitivamente necesitaba traer este lugar como solía ser, lástima.

We had a roast beef dinner we'd never been served before with so much meat, the food was served quickly & the meal was hot

Came in here to escape the rain. Had a lovely meal while enjoying the view sat by the window. Roast chicken was cooked perfectly

We popped in for lunch, and I was pleasantly surprised to find a separate gluten free menu - brilliant. I had the carbonara which was delicious, hubby was also very pleased with his fish and chips. The Ship is dog friendly and has lovely views over the lake. I would recommend

Great staff. Good food with great choice. Service is excellent. Cost is average for area, but well worth it. Nice view over the lake. Don't take my word for it, visit and enjoy

We’d been on our holiday for almost 3 weeks and we’re craving a wholesome meal with vegetables. We chose this pub because of its accessible parking that our minivan could actually fit into. The roast potatoes and carrots were nice enough but the roast beef tasted as though it had been heated up and was not freshly cooked today. The Yorkshire pudding was enormous but also did not taste fresh. On the positive side, a pleasant aspect as we could see the water twinkling whilst the lights were shining on it.

We ordered the beef & ale pie with chips. Came with all of the above & roasted carrot, cauliflower & peas. Absolutely scrumptious. Loads of beef in the pie in a rich gravy. Very tasty. Comfy atmosphere, fab views & nice, friendly bar staff. Will definitely return

We had an hour to kill before our boat was ready to board so we went in to have a quick bite and drink.

Visited with my family just to get out of the rain, had our small dog with us , may not of stayed if not for the weather ! , we wanted to sit and admire the view whilst we had a meal but unfortunately ‘dog friendly’ means you are squeezed into a small area near the door. Good choice on menu and satisfactory food, toilets only accessible by number on your receipt which seems a bit mean and I wonder how many people who would pop in to use the loo might then decide to have a drink/food .

Fantastic oldy worldy pub for the stunning views across the lake and watching the boats coming in and out.

Thought we would stop here on a Sunday night, great looking pub with a good view. However, the food was poorly cooked and the service was only just about okay! The waiting staff were more interested in their own conversation rather than the patrons. My advice if you want food avoid and eat at the chippy next door. We will not be back!!!!!

All four of us had different meals and all agreed that our meals were superb. I had the best fish and chips with mushy peas and tartare sauce that I have had for years. Freshly cooked and delicious and brilliant value for money. Highly recommended so don't hesitate.

This pub was just across from the car park. I was pleasantly surprised with the helpful staff and the food quality. Very important, the red sauce was Heinz. Will certainly visit again.

Called into the ship inn a few months ago on a flying visit to the lakes and after some shopping went for some lunch, nice pub plenty of seats great view over the lake, good food, and friendly staff.

Popped in for a cold pint on a hot bank holiday. Sat outside at the back, lovely view of the lake. Went to downstairs bar which was empty so served straight away (didn't go in upstairs but looked very busy). Saw some food coming out which looked good so we ordered some starters to share between us. Service very quick and food lovely, couldn't fault it. Away from the madness of the centre and very relaxing watching the world go by.

This lakeside restaurant claerly has a huge number of eaters to seek to cope with and generally cope very well with the huge numbers on a summer's day.

Thank you very much, guys for the amazing experience we had. Myself and my friends can eat anything but my daughter and her partner are vegans. Although there were no vegan dishes on the menu, the chef came out and asked us questions about our preferences. He was so attentive that when my kids arrived he asked them what and how they would like to eat. And then he has made them a wonderful vegetable risotto. Thank you again for making us feeling so looked after and for the very tasty meals! And thanks to all the staff: you are great!

We visited, child and puppy in tow, and were made welcome in a small area next to the door where dogs are permitted. A little confusion around the toilets whereby they are now protected with a pin code lock so only customers can use them, and the number is on your receipt, unfortunately we didn’t get a receipt but managed to get the code from another customer.

Each to their own, obviously, but some of the reviews here are not at all indicative of what we experienced.

Travelling with our West Highland terrier can be restrictive at times, but we were delighted at how dog friendly this bar and restaurant was. As well as loads of outside areas to sit, they even allocate an inside dog area which was much appreciated- there were a few dog owners with their well behaved dogs sitting having a drink or a meal in that area.

Staff were racist took 3 hours to serve the food that tastes like old toenails unwelcoming swore at us when we said that the food tasted horrible Roy hodgson is a better chef than whoever served that disgusting mess

We visited the Ship ,on four occasions during our holiday . Each time food and service was great . No problem getting wheelchair access ,to get seats overlooking the lake . Prices a bit high but food was fresh cooked and well presented . I recommend the Ship for good food and service .

Stopped here with friends for lunch. Great start as they’re dog friendly and have specific seating areas inside for people with dogs. Great menu choice typical pub grub. Reasonable priced as well. Ordered at bar and the first members of our party to order got their meals within 5 minutes.

Awful chicken tikka massala. Staff were rushing us even though hardly anyone was in the restaurant.

Drink chouxes are good. Seating inside and out. Pool table which not many have in Bowness. Had food and curry was good as was tuna sandwich. Staff friendly.

Traditional pub a little off the main drag of Bowness. Dog friendly areas. We both had the steak which was excellent. Enjoyed this pub so much we had a drink there all three nights if our holiday.

My wife and I gave this delightful pub restaurant a visit whilst on holiday in the lakes, they welcome well behaved dogs much to our pleasure, the wife had the gammon whilst I had the lamb Henry and both meals were delicious, good selection of drinks and friendly staff made our visit a memorable one.

We always call in for lunch on our arrival day in the Lakes, so last Monday 8th July and as we were not very hungry, ordered the soup and half a baguette between us. The soup was Chicken and leek and the baguette was Turkey. When it arrived, the soup looked totally unappetising. a horrible sludgy green colour and tasted even worse. It was a terrible shade of green, overflowing with chicken and vegetables, it was so thick like a stew, with no 'soup' to speak of and the flavour so bland, if you closed your eyes, you couldn't make out what you were eating and on the second mouthful, found a small bone, so the soup got left. The 'baguette' wasn't a baguette at all,, just a soft sub roll that was so stale, I'd be embarrassed to give to anybody. So that was also left. At £7.05 for that 'lunch' we won't be eating there again I'm afraid. Sorry to give a bad review but I expect more when paying good money!

My husband and I ate here on a brief trip to Windermere on our way further north. We had our dog with us and they were accommodating for dogs. We thought the food was a good price when other places were charging over £5 for a burger from a burger van! The food came in the usual amount of time if the food is fresh and not ping food! Staff we pleasant too.

Visited the Ship Inn for midweek lunch, varied menu reasonably priced and great views of the harbour and the lake.

We visited this pub as we were in Windermere for the day. The pub was clean and tidy and there was a good selection of food. The food was good however very overpriced for what you get. Also you need a code to use the toliets and the staff don't speak English very well making it really hard

Staff were attentive, food arrived in a reasonable time, I ordered ploughman's was little disappointed with iceberg lettuce salad unimaginative otherwise main was good, my children enjoyed their mains, dessert mixed reviews children's sundaes arrived melted, I ordered cheese board seemed 1 cheddar doesn't constitute a selection. Generic crackers somewhat disappointing.

I really wish tripadvisor would have a 'good' instead of average or very good, the view from the decking area is worth a four but the food is worth a three, competent and pleasant staff, clean bar and seating area outside was spotless, we only had snacks which were'nt good enough to make me return, except for a drink, chicken wings were'nt crispy, nachos were plentiful and tasty,

Whilst on holiday in area decided to have lunch here. It’s in a great place on side of lake with stunning views of lake Windermere. We sat outside as had our dogs with us. Dogs are allowed in but in an area as you go in. We ordered meals which arrived about 20 minutes after ordering which was fine by us. Meals were plentiful & what you would expect to pay in most food pubs nowadays.

We ordered the food and it arrived imminently, which made us a bit dubious... the food was okay, but not worth the price. To be honest the quality of food was what I would expect from a weatherspoons, but for the price we paid I don’t think it was worth it. Friendly staff but the food was a let down.
