Had a wonderful Sunday dinner with my partner special thanks to Mark with his colourful shirt on to make it a very enjoyable experience

Came across this pub by chance - and what a find it was! Friendly staff, quaint pub and excellent food. Highly recommend it.

Sadly, 3 of our 5 meals were wrong and had to be sent back, 1 twice (which meant he literally ate alone, as we were all long finished by then). 2 had clearly simply had the salad (I'd stated no salad) swept off the chicken burgers (there were still some bits left). That's unacceptable. The staff were lovely, every server, but the lady owner/manager was dreadful, tore strips off the poor guy who took our order in front of us.. and made the entire experience unpleasant and very upsetting, especially since it was my daughter's 13th birthday meal out. We were refunded only the meal we'd had to send back twice.. and didn't *dare* complain about anything else (the mash was lumpy, the gravy tepid, never mind a bowl of chips with a thumb in it.. etc). Will neither be returning nor recommending. We felt sorry for the lovely servers, who were *all* doing their best. Ugh.

This is only the best place to eat out. Alison and her friendly staff always make us welcome and the food is excellent - we've tried a lot of places and this is our favourite. We're going back tomorrow.

Been to eat here today for at least the second time in 3 months. The food portions are like if you've been away to university and going back to your mums and she's trying to feed you up. ie flipping huge! And bloody tasty. 10/10

This time last Friday 12th July I was celebrating my 60th birthday. The food was delicious we had a ploughmans buffet for 45 guests. Alison & her team were lovely and looked after us. A great night was had by all my guests. Lewis (pearcedj.events) kept us dancing with some fab tunes too.

I’ve been to The Ship on a few occasions and had a lovely experience. Sadly this time I came down with a bad case of food poisoning. I contacted the staff to make them aware to which they denied it was caused by their food. During the meal, three family members saw two members of staff cleaning out one of the fridges which had bad smelling food items inside. We heard the waitresses themselves complaining about the smell and condition of the fridge (we had already eaten our food at this point). I mentioned this when we contacted the restaurant and were told this was not possible because they clean their fridges weekly. We would have been happy to put this down as a bad week or ‘one off’ experience, however the denials and bad attitude of the manager has put us off ever returning.

I don't like brioche buns, they were very helpful in sorting out a different one for me.

Excellent food though quite expensive but big portions

Fathers day meal off of the main menu. Excellent. My wife goes here regularly with her friends and absolutely loves it. Portions on the large side!

Went for a Sunday lunch and the food and hospitality were outstanding. This is an exceptional pub tucked away but well worth going the extra mile to. Attentive staff and very large portions of Sunday roast, reasonably priced. Thank you.

Wow what an amazing place the food was delicious the beer battered cod was beautiful staff were excellent friendly & professional will definitely be returning in the not to distant future. Thank you & compliments to the chef 👍

We stopped here on route to board our cruise on the MSC VURTUOSA. The staff were exceptionally friendly and welcoming. The food was enjoyable, as was the atmosphere. It was a family meal od six people to celebrate an 18th birthday.

Six of us stopped at the Shipbon the way to our cruise. 18th and 67th birthday. A lovely atmosphere the staff were friendly and the service was excellent. The food was exceptional and good value fir money. If we lived locally it would be without doubt be our local.

Bar staff and waitresses brilliant

Food discusting, steak pie, very dry and pastry sand yop portion of beef burnt, no taste or flavour. Wanted scampi and plain jacket potato, charged for whole scampi meal and jacket meal, dont mind paying for good food, will not be going again

I booked a meal here today for me and my family I have lived in the area for 2 years and always heard good things about The Ship and its food. I took my parents and grandad here today for lunch and the service was terrible, I am hoping that it was just a bad day for the team. Our drinks order was wrong and the waitress was ready to argue with us that we had placed the wrong order, however that wasn’t the case. We then had to ask twice for condiments to be brought to the table, and we were missing our chips from the order, so we had to wait for these. As I said i am hoping it was just a bad day for the team, but unfortunately whilst living local it wasn’t worth the trip down there for lunch.

We had a wonderful experience at The Ship, after being turned away at two other pubs due to being full. We headed over to the Ship, although it was late on a Wednesday we were welcomed and quickly seated. We had the friendliest person serve, who went above and beyond and had a great sense of humour and customer service. I had the ship burger as did my daughter, the tastiest homemade and cooked burger I’ve ever had. Be warned the portions are large. The deserts looked so good that we couldn’t not try them and they were delicious too! Would highly recommend.

We went for lunch for my husbands birthday with the family,it was a perfect meal,ribs to die also had scampi on the plate ,my lasagna was the best,,salad,garlic bread and fries.The sweet well,beautiful.Well worth every penny,hope to go again.ty

Although very busy, as it was mothering sunday, our meals came out all together, hot and well presented. Staff very polite and friendly, overall a perfect time. Waitress Grace was extremely good too

We would like to thank Alison and the team for what they have done for us on our wedding day. The marquee was beautifully set up, and the food was also at a very high standard. Communication with Alison in the build-up to the big day was exceptional, and we can't thank her enough for that... I highly recommend that people use the ship for any events, and i promise you won't be disappointed. We will also be using to marquee for future events

Had an amazing lunch today with my family. There were seven of us celebrating my birthday. The food was excellent. My Sirloin steak was cooked to perfection, as were my other two family members steak. We all loved our food choices. The staff were friendly, very welcoming and give us excellent service. Perfect!! We ordered the pork chop with bubble and squeak and enjoyed a huge meal, beautifully cooked. We've tried most of the pubs but The Ship is the very best. We have a terrible problem - do we order fish and chips: divine Chicken curry: wonderful Chilli con carne: excellent What a dilemma.

Met up with family for a meal and a catch up. Had a Sunday roast which was a great size and very tasty! Every pudding looked amazing.

Just great!! We had a birthday get together in the skittle alley. 28 people. All ages catered for. The food from the winter menu was good and served quickly. The staff were attentive, friendly and happy 😊 Definitely recommend to everyone

Been to The Ship Inn twice over two weekends. Both times the food was delicious. We hired the Skittles Room for our family Christmas party. There's 33 of us. The bar man was really lovely, food was top notch and service brilliant. Would recommend 🫶🏻

Great meal and service. We visited as part of a group of 10 for a Christmas meal. The food was amazing. Definitely the best I’ve ever had here. Service was not rushed and little things by the meals being brought out to peoples names rather than the usual “turkey” really made the difference!!!

Have visited this pub for Sunday lunch several times and the roast is normally very good with succulent meat fresh veg and lovely crispy roast potatoes and gravy. This evening we pre ordered on their Christmas celebration menu and it was really disapointing The Turkey was tasteless the roastys were overcooked and well steamed so had gone really soft as if they’d been covered and kept warm. . The vegitables were diced swede carrots and pale coloured sprouts. None of it looked like the veg they serve on a Sunday . This cost more than the Sunday roast and was not worth the £26 95 that we paid for 2 courses. We complained to the waitress and she came back and said the landlady was sorry we didn’t enjoy it but she’d had no other complaints We then asked to talk to the landlady and she was very flippant and was not interested in what we had to say. Didn’t really get a satisfactory apology . We certainly won’t be going back in the future .

We turned up and asked for a table for two and we're told that it would not be a problem if we could be finished in an hour ,which wasn't going to be a problem, ordered food and drink at the bar then noticed the table was booked for an hour earlier than we thought giving us 15 minutes. Called over the waitress who told us that they could not contact the people who booked it to confirm so they would have to wait, they didn't turn up anyway so we were told not to rush, the food was plenty as we both left stuffed and the quality was superb. All in all an excellent place to eat with great atmosphere

Once again the Ship at Redbridge has excelled. My wife's birthday was completed with a family meal at The Ship. All staff members were polite and friendly and Alison the Proprietor even delivered our home made cake singing happy birthday even though were depriving her of six puddings chosen from their menu.

What can I say have just been to celebrate my birthday with family, the service was excellent, the food was outstanding, such good portions and very hot, and very reasonably priced, would highly recommend to anyone pay a visit

Went to there for my partner's 50th birthday. Nothing was too much. The food was outstanding, the service excellent and the atmosphere was great.

Nice place to eat. Home cooked food large portions but it's quite expensive around £16.95 a meal now days. But it's nice food. Certainly will return.

We had the skittle alley in the back room for a family get together. The food portions were very generous and very friendly staff. Have been here before and would definitely go again

Attended a private function in the skittles room with a bar. Had a great time, the basket meals were very good and the service at the bar as well.

The food here was really good and a reasonable price. My husband had gluten free loaded nachos with chilli con carne. He says it is the best gluten free meal he has ever eaten outside the home. 5 stars for food and welcome

This is our local pub, we go at least once every week, some times more to go and eat. We attend the quiz on a Tuesday night, we love it, the staff are amazing. This Saturday we threw my Mum a surprise 85 Birthday party in the Marque. We ordered a buffet for 30 people and when it came out it would have fed 50. Hot and cold food and so much of it and lovely food at that. Not just a basic buffet. We can not thank them all enough. A brilliant pub, with brilliant food and staff. We love you all.

It’s perfect that’s it the food is brilliant the staff was amazing Kamil and rose done a brilliant job serving (there was one Indian guy I forgot his name he was fantastic) thank you very much for looking after us.

A big thanks to the Ship Inn for accommodating 43 of us for my daughters 25th birthday skittles party. The service was outstanding and a big thanks to Josh in particular for running the bar so efficiently and making us feel so welcome. The food was plentiful and served in good time considering the size of our group. A really enjoyable evening, thankyou Ship Inn and thanks again Josh.

Had a great evening meal here. Staff very efficient and pleasant. Can't fault the food - generous portions. Met two local couples who had been regulars for many years and provided interesting info into its history. Next time in Southampton it is a definite visit to this super place. N.B. One of the few restaurants we have visited able to provide white pepper.

The whole day was fantastic, the meal and evening food was just amazing. The team were so helpful and nothing was to much trouble for them, especially Becky who oversaw the whole event. We had an amazing day and I would recommend holding a wedding here. It was the hottest of days and again all the staff helped with ensuring plenty of water was available as well as very quick bar service, thank you for making my day so special xx

Took family there fo4 q Sunday lunch. Polite and promt service at bar with hood selection of ales. Prompt service with meal ordering. Great beef roast dinner with 4 veg plenty of mea, home cooked roast potatoes with stuffing and a home made Yorkshire pudding. The other meals were Fish and chips and a scampi, all meals piping hot and attentive follow up service . All reasonably priced, would strongly recommend this place as it doesn't disappoint on any level.

Having first visited this pub 25 years ago when living around the corner, I still regularly return for some good food, so where better for a 50th birthday beer than the ship ? Four of us enjoyed a Tuesday lunch here where the service was friendly and quick. Several pints of “Wight Squirrel “ went down well along side the starters , two deep fried Brie and two prawn cocktails. Some more Wight Squirrel also accompanied the mains. The team did a great job of adding a portion of chilli to my burger, something not on the menu. Everything tasted great, portions were large and the beer was lovely. Looking forward to more visits over the next 25 years .

We were so fortunate to have our Daughters wedding reception in the marquee in the garden of the Ship just after we came out of full lockdown.With all the nerves and confusion about what we may or may not be able to do with the reception...the staff at The Ship were absolutely brilliant throughout. Keeping in touch and happy to adapt to our many changing plans. The way they set the marquee up was brilliantly thought out and really made us feel comfortable even though the social distancing measures were in place. The food was incredible...really tasty, hot and plentiful.....I had chicken salad, lamb shank and a chocolate brownie..all had the wow factor. The staff ran a drinks table service for us for the first few hours too..and it’s those small touches that make the big differences. We had our own bar in the evening too which meant we didn’t have to go into the main part of the pub.Thank you so much for all you did to help our daughter and her new husband have such a wonderful day to remember

Just had our first visit since lockdown began for a meal. It was perfect.Fantastic location, fantastic food and always a great welcome by Alison and the staff.Will be there as soon as we can again. Hope people visit this little gem in redbridge.Amazing place, value for money, food always good

Visité The Ship para cenar con un par de amigos y solo puedo describir el servicio como espantoso. No lo había sido desde que el pub había sido reformado y, sabiendo lo mucho que me gustaba su pub hermano, The Horns, pensé en intentarlo para variar. La comida seguía siendo de muy buen nivel aquí, pero mi grupo y yo nos olvidamos por completo durante toda la noche teniendo que esperar períodos de tiempo extremadamente largos para que alguien tomara nuestro pedido de comida, luego, cuando pedimos una segunda ronda de bebidas, fue completamente olvidado y nunca llegó. Después de nuestra comida, estábamos esperando a que alguien viniera a la mesa para pedir postre y bebidas y nadie apareció antes y después de que los nuevos últimos pedidos sonaran alrededor de las 9:15 pm debido al covid. Al final tuvimos que renunciar a la idea de esto y finalmente a las 9: 40 pm alguien vino con nuestra factura para pagar. Es una pena y una decepción para un lugar que hace tan buena comida, pero el servicio realmente los decepciona.

First visit for a year, newly decorated, looked fresh and bright. Covic regulations implemented, tables well spaced, escorted to table. Friendly staff, food was excellent, recommend the curry. Definitely will be making another visit.

No soy de los que escriben críticas, pero me dejaron boquiabierto porque la posada del barco es uno de mis pubs favoritos. Visitamos el sábado para comer y me decepcionó mucho la comida y el servicio. Tenían una función activada, así que entiendo completamente por qué el servicio podría haber sido un poco lento, pero hubiera sido bueno tener un poco de advertencia sobre esto. No obtuvimos nuestros entrantes hasta unos 25 minutos después de haber pedido, eran encantadores, pero tampoco se despejaron durante mucho tiempo después de que terminamos. Los platos principales llegaron después de otra larga espera y tenían las costillas y el combo de pollo frito sureño, las costillas estaban secas y obtuve tres pequeños coujons de pollo. No me disculpo por la lentitud del servicio. No son los estándares habituales.

Bonito pub recién redecorado, muy buenas cosas de Covid 19 en su lugar. Funciona de manera muy eficiente. Hacer pedidos de bebidas y comida de forma fácil. Mesas bien espaciadas. Llegó la comida y asombro grandes porciones de comida casera con una buena selección de verduras. No me puedo quejar de la comida o el servicio, un pub familiar muy bien dirigido.

Muy pronto se unieron más y salieron. Eran muy ruidosos y sin ningún distanciamiento social. Entrar de forma intermitente en el interior y congregarme, lo que creo que no está permitido. No nos sentíamos seguros y esa guía de Covid se estaba aplicando de manera poco estricta. Estamos planeando reservar para el almuerzo de mañana, pero hemos decidido no hacerlo. Dios sabe cuántas personas se les unirán más tarde. No es de extrañar que las infecciones de Southampton estén aumentandoNinguna respuesta. La mitad del menú no está disponible, que ya se redujo de la presentación en línea sin previo aviso a pesar de que id reservó una mesa de 10 y pagó un depósito por eso.Teníamos 5 adultos y 5 niños y les pedimos a los kods food que salieran con los entrantes para adultos. Ninguno vino con los entrantes. La mitad de los titulares fueron 15 minutos antes del segundo lote. Los niños se sentaron durante 30 minutos viendo a los adultos comer entrantes, todo esto es más de 1. Por cierto, 15 horas después de llegar, una comida para niños llega mucho antes que las demás, y las 4 últimas se escalonan en 2 s. Kida pizza, im 90 - 95% es solo una pizza de mercado auper de valor. Hay que devolver 2 comidas para adultos. Un bruger con un panecillo congelado y otro que se cocinó a las 0900 del miércoles pasado y luego se colgó en un plato para servir. La mesa que reservamos para diez (no les dije que eran 5 adultos y 5 niños, así que deberían haber asumido que eran 10 adultos.) ¡No habría cabido si 5 de nuestro grupo no fueran de la mitad de tamaño! ) el final de nuestra mesa básicamente chocaba con el siguiente con gente apretujándose por el hueco mientras alguien intentaba cenar.Todo el personal tenía protectores faciales puestos, pero no ¿quién supongo que es la directora? Tuvimos una comida deliciosa aquí, fue una reserva de última hora. Intenté llamar pero nadie respondió y luego alguien volvió a llamar, lo cual fue muy amable de su parte considerando lo ocupados que estaban. Nos acomodaron, la comida era excelente y porciones muy grandes. Fue recibido por una señora encantadora que nos hizo sentir muy bienvenidos. Seguro que fue la casera. Todo el personal era amable y sin duda volveremos. ¡La renovación también se ve increíble! Altamente recomendado.

Lovely old fashioned pub.Asked 3 staff for cutlery and condiments, but had to speak to the manageress in the end. Food was cold by the time cutlery arrived for starters.Mains, sent chicken and ribs back as it was cold, the burger was sent back as it hard, the fish was all batter.Poor service for the prices that were charged.

Good but not great Booked on line but it seemed the system wasn’t working properly so had no record of our booking, but this was quickly sorted out and we had just a short wait and a free round of drinks for the trouble Although fairly busy with the Eat Out scheme the food did take a little bit longer than I would have liked With a large and varied menu which was good to see the food was average at best with “frozen” deep fried chips and a reasonable sized piece of cod Staff were friendly and polite despite the business of the pub

My partner and myself came here last week on the Sunday for a spot of lunch, didn’t book and turned up off the cuff. We got shown to a table straight away in which they explained the track and trace rules in place. We ordered food my partner got the chilli con carne burger and I got Lasagne with side salad. The food didn’t take long to come and the portions were very good! The side salad was bigger than the lasagne which was still lovely my partner loved his food and would recommend both meals to friends and family. Good price for a good home made pub lunch!
