Very limited choices, would not allow rice instead of chips in kids meal, only 1 till working as an issue at 2nd till , 4 members of staff trying to do a refund for a drink, crazy. Most of the drinks pumps not working, very rude cashier.. Meal was cold by the time we sat down. It's been a while since my last visit and really gone downhill.

Very disappointed. Trays were dirty, meatballs were more like half balls so I got 6 plus 2 halfs. Hot water machine was on clean mode so my tea was semi hot. Chips on my partners plate were a half portion and the heavy was like warm ….i could go on…..just don’t bother!

Free coffee not very nice but the meals are very good value

15 minutes in the rollercoaster-style queue for lunch so far, and not even half way. For an outlet who prode themselves on convenience, there has to be a much more efficient setup for the restaurant than this!

The queues were terrible, only one counter open. The staff behind the counter were just shuffling around, one person serving! They could see the queue growing by the second and they didn’t even care! Been to at least six ikeas, this was the worst!

Came for the over rated meatballs...it's not meat. It's meat expander with a bit taste of meat. Had fish n chips + 4 salts n 3 vinegar to enjoy it.😄 Fair enough for the price though. I think it's my Asian blood + Middle Eastern tastebud. Atmosphere and the view of the seaside and the dock is really nice.

Had a truly awful experience in Southampton IKEA today. We arrived at 1030 so we could have a breakfast as a family before shopping but the queue was huge. Having got there in good time they closed the queue several people behind us. The service was so slow that by the time it was our turn they had run out of everything except beans and sausages and would not make any more, despite us being in the queue in good time and it still being before 11am. This was just terrible customer service from the staff who were unhelpful and not at all polite and totally unwilling to maintain the supply of the menu food items until the published closing time. Extremely poor and sadly indicative of the decline in IKEA over the past few years.

For Ikea, the food was delicious.

Disgusting experience. Whoever manage the "bistro" should be ashamed. Today there was ONE member of the staff running from the market to the bistro, trying to serve two long queues, the poor lad looked so stressed, they were serving hotdogs with bare hands in a servillete, no gloves, there were not even cardboard trays. Then, no sits on the tables, there were mountains of rubbish and rests of food, grease and dirt on tables (look at the pics). Absolutely chaotic and disgusting, I was hungry but I felt like throwing the hotdog (tasteless and badly cooked) in the bin. The staff are overloaded and mistreated, what I saw yesterday is unacceptable. Please, avoid.

Poor quality canteen food, luke warm, long queues, no staff and not even cheap. First time I’ve risked food here for a long time and it’ll be the last.

Really enjoy the meatballs.would be so much better if they were hot, always lukewarm !!

It was off putting with how dirty all the tables and trays were so dirty. The food was not great fish and chips dry. The kids pasta meal was good and that was a good price but other than that wasn't great.

I love IKEA! The restaurant has quick access from the beginning if you're there for food. There are so many options to eat sweet to savoury. I shared an apple cake slice which was delicious! And had a nice cup of tea during my visit. (As for IKEA itself - some of the products you can see aren't always available at the end, but is a really clean and easy flowing place and was enjoyable to visit overall!)

Absolutely rubbish place, waited 30 minutes queueing, avoid at all costs. Overrated and rubbish food. Not very sanitary with all food not covered.

Ikea Southampton have introduced coupon scanning on all their hot drinks machines. Whilst I understand a need for this on the paid for drinks, it is just plain perverse to require it on free drinks, especially when it doesn’t even work properly and fails to let you have refills.

The restaurant serves dishes typical of the Ikea store chain. It's a self-service restaurant, offering not very healthy but delicious food. I can't resist the Swedish meatballs. 🤭 With an IKEA Family card, coffee and tea are complimentary. There's also a Bistro with fast-food options, including regular and vegetarian hot dogs, fries, baguettes, and something sweet.

Never ever again! everything is dirty there, the food trays are unwashed, the cutlery is dirty, the cups are dirty, the restaurant is dirty! I'm pregnant and since yesterday I've had diarrhea and vomiting, someone should conduct a sanitary inspection!

Bacon roll, they are cheap but worst roll I think I’ve ever had, dry verging on stall and one piece of bacon. Went as everyone raves about food at ikea. I’d say give it a miss get something that cost more but is better value for mo yes else where. The coffee is just as bad low quality. Sorry ikea absolutely shocking.

Needed something quick and easy. We found IKEA and after a 19 min queue due to it being a very busy evening, we had the Swedish meatballs with mash, sauce and gravy. Also a blueberry cheesecake. It was very quickly provided and the price was extremely good. If IKEA can provide good food for only 6 pounds a head, it shows how much of a rip off other outlets, are. Great food. Great cheesecake and a free drink. Heartwarming yo find value and quality hand in hand at this ikea. Would highly recommend.

Amazing food freindly staff, etc etc what can I say more?

I have never been so cross. We arrived to the restaurant and saw a huge queue- only one section was open with one man serving behind the counter( he worked very hard!).Once in the queue we couldn't escape as hemmed in by bars (& we had our shopping trolley with our purchases/ couldn't abandon. Some food choices were on display but we had little idea what options there were until at the main service point. Absolute shambles. The only positive points included paying and there were plenty of tables. You need more staff, more menu/ food options displayed & you need to stop hemming in your customers like sheep. We will never go again.

The food was ok, but the major thing was that we went at 7 o clock at night in a heatwave and there was no air conditioning. I was eating my food with sweat coming down me from the heat. It felt like being in a greenhouse right in the sun. Highly unhappy with my visit 😠

Great food, great value, nice clean friendly environment

Excellent restaurant located within IKEA, serving a variety of tasty dishes at affordable prices, with a pleasant atmosphere. As a regular customer here, I am slightly biased. Nevertheless, this IKEA restaurant is excellent in my opinion for a number of reasons. The opening hours are excellent, open early until late daily (please check IKEA website for latest hours) and with great facilities. The toilets are always clean, there is plenty of seating and the layout of the restaurant is easy to navigate. I've visited for a number of years and most of my visits have been great (with the odd one or two suffering from stock problems/availability). The staff in the restaurant are very friendly and helpful and there are enough of them, to ensure speedy service and a clean dining area. The menu is varied and the offers they do are exceptional, with special deals currently at breakfast, lunch and dinner, there is something for all of the family. They also offer healthy options for those with children and currently free baby food with the purchase of an adult meal. The drink area is pleasant, accessible and easy to use (self-service) and the free IKEA family tea or coffee deal is fabulous. I highly recommend this location for everything from a drink, to a light-bite, through to a full family dinner. It has something on the menu for everyone and caters for all ages, I admire this. Great service and work from the IKEA Southampton Restaurant team, they recently have had a refit and it is a bit easier to get condiments now. The photos on this review are on the recently passed Swedish Meatball Day! I visited and was pleased to get a 12 plant ball meal for only £2.75! Be inspired and come to visit this restaurant, I guarantee satisfaction! You might even bump into a bear along the way...

Great food but only one side open so very slow

Monday in July, school holidays. Huge queues for the food counters and only two of the cash desks were manned, the card only desks were closed, so big queues all round. By the time we got to a table my chicken was just about cold and so was my wife's meal. We won't be doing that again.

I’ve eaten here on several occasions and always been happy. Staff are friendly and the food is tasty. Of course, it’s all about the meatballs here! Staff do a great job of keeping the place clean and tidy and there’s always ample seating. Of course IKEA won’t be winning any Michelin stars but it’s good honest food at a reasonable price!

Super food, Swedish excellence on display. Bacon roll followed by meatballs and a Daim cake and minimal damage to the wallet. Busy but for the right reasons. Well done IKEA and Ingvar Kamprad. 🐧

Good restaurant with a good atmosphere but has limited options due to refurbishment until July at present

IKEA restaurant is reasonably priced and offers a small selection of hot food along with some cold. For the prices you pay, you cannot complain. We have visited on several occasion but unfortunately our last visit wasn’t great. The restaurant was under refurbishment so had very limited offerings. Whilst this is understandable the website didn’t mention it when I check for opening times before visiting. On the whole you can’t go wrong if you want some reasonably priced warm food 😂

A "reduced" menu due to upgrades. Can cook sausage, bacon etc. But can't do a breakfast haha. Farcical.

Bring back meat balls. I am fuming.

We were there about 2pm yesterday. We waited about 40 mins in such a long queue which moved very slowly as the food kept running out. The restaurant was desperately short staffed both in terms of serving the food and in cooking it behind the counter - I only spotted one or two people behind the counters doing any food preparation / cooking. Surely a restaurant in a store is usually there to help you enjoy the experience and then spend more time / money shopping. This did the opposite for us - we were so fed up and tired after the long queue that we were desperate to get out of the store. And the delay meant we were anxious that we'd go over our 3 hour free parking. Sadly the restaurant manager was not interested in that aspect of our experience and said he'd 'planned' the staffing for the weekend - which is a joke. I suggest they ask McDonalds to advise on how to serve customers more quickly! And to cap it all, the meatballs were not worth the hype - very average. Next time we'll take sandwiches.

This Ikea is situated opposite the Quayside in Southampton. Lots of parking is available and the store has five floors. There is an excellent selection of almost anything that you would want for your home or office. The restaurant is pleasant with its usual selection of food and drinks. The restaurant is on the 5th floor overlooking the ships and quay Reasonable prices are available.

A works canteen atmosphere (nothing wrong with that!) to queue for food served fresh, and really well thought-out healthy food which was beautifully specified and cooked, and at very low prices. Something to appeal to almost everybody. Main course very good indeed, excellent dessert 'Black Forest Cake' and of course if you have a family card, free coffee. Drinks well chosen too, wide choice of cordials on tap and even little bottles of wine. A very cheap but great experience at any price. Cheaper and much more healthy than Wetherspoons.

Usually dinner is a treat halfway through an IKEA trip but this was disappointing. Only I poor chap serving (and seemingly cooking) whilst the queue grew longer. No vegetarian 'meat' balls either ☹️.

Like a SMART 451 or an Apple IPad you sort of know what to expect. I would not say it’s the best restaurant in Southampton or indeed Barcelona however the meals, especially the meatballs are great. Desserts fab and the lattes are drinkable, so what’s not to like? Parking simple and oh yeah I think they sell homeware….Best to visit on quieter days. Fidelscastrol.

Not only the best place for meatballs but there are plenty more healthy and tasty options. Don't forget your family card that will give you discount against certain dishes and during weekday also free coffee. The restaurant in the Southampton branch is on the top floor with the waterside view to the Solent. The restaurant also offers a good view of the cruise liners on the days when they are docked.

Went for breakfast. No sausages, apparently none for a month due to supplier difficulties. Waited 15 minutes in the queue, 3 cooks, 2 cashiers, 3 people doing cold prep : a single poor soul on the counter, serving, doing his own toast and frying hash browns as well! Just had coffee in the end, no sweetener, just sugar. Not good enough, IKEA.

The IKEA Southampton is situated opposite the seafront of Southampton. It is Very popular and has paid for parking inside. Showrooms and restaurant are on 4th floor It offers a large selection of reasonable priced food, well presented and value for money. It can get very busy

What is there to say..the Swedish meatball dinner is worth it in whatever country we have visited IKEA along with the unlimited juice and drink. The restaurant was clean with plenty of seating. The lines were long but moved steadily. We were seated within 15 minutes.

Fantastic food!! Amazing atmosphere with friendly and helpful staff! Great place for children and delicious tasting food!! Would come again rate it 10/10

IKEA restaurants may be cheap and cheerful but some of the food is very poor. I love fish and chips but never again. Cold chips and grey, reconstituted fish. Ugh. I think their meatballs are the only thing worth having.

I find it fun going to IKEA. The food… well. It’s fun to try a different cuisine. So having there Swedish plant meat balls is a nice change. I ordered the 8 balls with mash, peas, gravy, lingonberry sauce all for£3.50. It is a canteen with an amazingly low if not cheap price tag. £3.50 for a whole meal! Quality, you get what you pay for. It takes me back to the good old school dinner days of potato powered mixed mash, over cooked peas, and thick gloopy gravy. The plant balls were fine. Went well with the meal tasting of carboard meat. I almost wondered if they’d give the vegan balls or not. It be hard to tell if there was a mistake because of the quality. If you don’t mind a good but really not really healthy and in truth bad meal once in a while. Go for it. If you eat a lot of tin foods, jar foods, and ready meals then you might really enjoy it! it’s the same price without you having to heat it up yourself. So even cheaper. What I really liked is that they even had a nursing suit in the canteen for breastfeeding mums. It had a really comfy looking arm chair, and a little wall so you can have a bit of privacy but sit and eat with your own group or family, with a sky view. They also have children’s cutlery plats and play area. Changing facilities.

Horrible disgusting breakfast ever pay for it. No eggs no toast in English breakfast. Guys if you want to save money not from food. Never again shopping ikea again.

I have eaten at several IKEA restaurants and this one is the worst terrible presentation of food on the breakfast plate, burnt sausages bacon just dumped on the plate all twisted and folded in a lump and the egg is awful mess it looks like...

In to do some shopping. Popped into the restaurant for a breakfast. Regular breakfast had bacon that looked like it had been cooked under a light bulb for 10 seconds, sausages that were cold and 95% fat. Won't be going in there again.

Went to IKEA today and went straight for coffee and a pastry. There was a fairly long queue for the hot food and it appears you wait in that queue even if you only want a warm cinnamon bun! So we decided on 2 croissants...

The meal in the restaurant was fine. But the parking charges are difficult to accept. I arrived too early, before the store opened, but the car park was open, so I went in, parked, mooched around other shops, then spent several hours in the store,...

Awful experience and have to pay for parking if you don't spend over £40 what a rip off! The only item I may have paid £40 for was out of stock! Waste of my morning! Will never visit again! Did not have coffee or lunch...

Clean, nicely spaced , easy and cheap. More importantly the food was lovely! I had the gradvelax with some garlic bread, then the good old meatballs with chips. You can't moan when you get a great meal for two including startes and drinks for £16....

Staying at a hotel very close to IKEA Southampton. We decided to visit for breakfast. ( it doesn’t open until 10am) What an absolute bargain! Breakfast £2.60 Coffee/ Tea 50p extra ( if you scan your IKEA card) Plentiful & tasty. What’s not to like!

What you may call ‘cheap and dirty’. Definitely the cheapest restaurant in Southampton, although it’s not a proper restaurant of course, but a simple socialist-style canteen. Everything is cheap. Food is all right, quite tasty Swedish meatballs, mash potatoes, chips, cheesecakes, good salmon and salads. Splendid cinnamon buns. ‘Restaurant’ is VERY roomy and has fascinating views over Southampton port and cruise terminals, so you can see many cruise ships from huge windows. And very close too. Access to the restaurant from 4th floor through the main entrance (very top) and then shortcut through furniture department. Yes I can recommend it, though you need to book your slot first via scanning IKEA QR code or online on IKEA website.

Fish dried out and barely warm, chips Limp and also barely warm and peas running in water and been sitting in pan too long. The only tasty part of the meal was the tartare sauce which was needed to put a bit of moisture into...

Food was fine, but very shocked with the staff breaking COVID rules in plan sight more then once, no care for social distancing at all! Quite off putting

How disappointing . Came to ikea for the meatballs and no sauce ! Very dry .. Covid gone bonkers. If they can cook the meatballs they can cook the sauce . Pathetic excuse!

Visited the massive Ikea at Southampton. Excellent and awesome shopping though. Tried their restaurant for the first time here after prebooking inside the store. After ordering the food is served to the respective tables in line with the present Covid protocol. Fish and chips just...

Finished our mission around Ikea and decided to try the legendary meatballs, well they were scrummy, had the hot dog too which was equally yummy and filled a hole after all the retail therapy. Would recommend, good cheap eats.

First, its ikea. We know what you are getting when you buy a cupboard, you shouldn't expect the restaurant to be different. Second, if you go for anything other than meatballs - what's wrong with you? I always buy a bag on the way out...

Great food and a very good experience at IKEA. I visited the store for a few kitchen items and ended up eating in the restaurant and really enjoyed the delicious food.

The food may seem cheap but if you want something that's nicely cooked then don't expect to get it here. The meat is dried out, the fish is dried out. The chips are cold and limp.If you just want a roll and butter and a cuppa then it's probably the cheapest place in town. But if you like your food hot and well cooked I suggest you try somewhere else.

We always swing by the restaurant when we visit the store. The staff are really friendly and the restaurant is generally clean.

At IKEA Southampton, my wife and I ordered 15 meatballs, but I got 14, and my wife got 13.5. Two scenarios are possible, 1) either the kitchen staff deliberately provide less to be able to have a free lunch, or 2) the staff cannot do math. I wanted to bring this to the attention of management. So count your meatballs before paying your bill. Or avoid.

Visiting West Quay shopping and decided to visit Ikea for a few house bits. Being a weekday the restaurant is always less busy than a weekend so we stopped for brekkie. A regular and a vegetarian with tea and an orange juice. Very efficient, friendly staff and plenty of tables plus for the price the breakfast is pretty good too.

Difficult to find a seat. And trying to get a meal for a family with different tastes is very awkward as there are different places to queue. Not a good atmosphere. Food was over priced and not that tasty. Not again!

Hemos estado yendo a IKEA Southampton desde que abrió y siempre bastante contento. Con los años, por supuesto, los precios han subido pero la calidad no.Decidí tener bourguignon de carne, era absolutamente rancio. Hubiera preferido el agua del plato con la que se lavaron. Debería haberlo recuperado, pero el personal de las cajas y los servicios estaban demasiado ocupados y probablemente no sabrían qué hacer. Además, el personal que servía parecía muy estresado y la cabeza le gritaba al personal junior. Fuimos a comprar algunas cosas y no encontramos nada. ¡Entonces una sobreprecio completa la pérdida de tiempo y dinero! No volveré a comer a menos que en todos lados esté cerrado!

Si quieres algo diferente entonces deberìas visitar esta Lugar. Comida muy bueno y no es caro y limpiar.

First time we have eaten here and the last fish cold and soggy ,couldn't eat the chips as they were so hard and dried out waste of money

This was our first visit to IKEA so we decided to try their restaurant to establish how good the food was. We tried their famous Swedish meatballs meal - very yummy and good value for money too

You only come to the restaurant for the meatballs and won’t be disappointed. Just try to avoid weekends and right on lunchtimes. It’s so busy and the tables are not often cleared or cleaned enough. They clearly need more staff at a busy time. My other gripe is the soft drinks are awful. Bland, sweet and tasteless.

They promise that you can return items upto 365 days after purchase. Unfortunately they don't actually refund you. I've made several calls and tried to go through Resolver but still nothing. It has been three weeks. Apparently they are still looking into it. I've sent copies of the refund receipts but still nothing. They said it can take 10 days (in itself a joke) but nothing. Will be taking action. If you go for a refund make sure you actually get the money

I have visited ikea on many occasions and plenty of my furniture is from there. Came to Ikea Southampton on a weekend which should be expected to be busy. Ending up queuing 40 mins at checkouts due to understaffing which left us very frustrated. Then queues to the elevators. Finally got to the car to pay for parking and every machine was out of order. I will not be returning to Ikea after this.

I’m a huge fan of ikea and their delicious Meatballs which is always the highlight of the day! So was very disappointed with the ones I had on Monday. It seemed like the recipe had changed as they tasted different. The chips were soggy and cold and who decided to change the lingonberry sauce to a dispenser ?! By the time I had paid and gone to get some sauce everything was cold. The sauce machine had run out so when it came out it splattered juice everywhere ! The meatballs had an odd taste and the restaurant had a funny smell like a school canteen. Disappointing

As usual the food was really tasty, I always have the meatballs and am never disappointed. However we try not to go at busy times as you can struggle to get tables. But for a bank holiday Monday it wasn’t bad. I got a small meatballs and hubby large but there wasn’t much difference between them, he got 2 meatballs more I still ended up. I still ended up buying loads in store I hadn’t gone for though wasn’t expecting a chest of drawers or crockery set or cutlery apart from everything else bought

The breakfast itself is ones normal cooked breakfast but it’s the value for money that is extraordinarily good, so cheap to eat and tasty filling breakfast

During a visit to the restaurant for breakfast, I asked for a bacon roll, which when it was served, was cold and swimming in grease!! It was unceremoniously dumped on the plate, with a cold bread roll dumped on top of it!! I won’t be coming back here in a hurry..just awful

Being an international IKEA restaurant aficionado, I was a bit disappointed with the Southampton branch. We both had the beloved Swedish meatballs, however, they just weren't as good as in other IKEAs. There was a lot of oil involved which made the meatballs quite unappealing and heavy and the chips were cold.

Popped in to the cafe/restaurant whilst shopping. Used our Ikea family cards for free coffee. My husband had a slice of coconut and lime cake which he said was very good.

£1.75 with an IKEA Family card gives you bacon, sausage, a small omelette, hash brown, baked beans and half a grilled tomato plus as much coffee as you want. Upgrade to £2.50 and you get all the above plus an extra rasher of bacon, a second sausage and another hash brown. We had a window table which made for some interesting people-watching.

A lovely big child friendly restaurant, tables cleaned and cleared by friendly staff. The food was hot and value for money. Free teas and coffees with the IKEA card.

If you’re in Ikea and need a refuel it’s fine. Coffee nice, Daim Bar cake should have been much nicer! Children’s portion cheese roll stale. It was clean but pretty noisy so we slurped our coffee and made a quick exit!

On weekday afternoons, there's a fika (coffee and cake) deal for £1.50. Anywhere else you would pay more than twice the price! There's lots of seating available, and several cakes to choose from. A great and cheap pick-me-up during your Ikea trip.
