Spent a week in Looe and this was our go to pub, really friendly staff, I left my bag which had everything in it, luckily the nice man behind the bar found it before anyone else did and kept it behind the bar until I returned. Reasonable prices for beer, the Tribute and Korev were perfect, definitely be back on our next visit to Looe

PLEASE DO NOT COME HERE, Go to many of the other fine establishments in Looe such as the Jolly Sailor, the Golden Guinea, or even the CO-OP. Once ordering our overpriced meals we waited well over 45 minutes with only 4-5 other tables in the pub at the time. Once our food had finally arrived we found it to be completely tasteless and clearly not fresh, despite a misleading sign saying 'we do not make fast food, we make fresh food' at the counter. The pie was dull and the chilli was basic at best. Not only was the food terrible, the wait too long, and the prices way too high, the waitress was incredibly rude and dismissive after making a slight joke about the wait for the food, telling us a blatant lie that there were many tickets in front of us despite there only being 4-5 small tables in the pub (if that) at the time of order. This pub simply does not deserve to succeed in the lovely town Looe has been, please support the many other places in Looe and not this hovel, WHAT A RIP OFF.

Don't waste your money and time - horrendously overpriced for pretty bad food and service. Looe is a beautiful town with lots of talented, lovely, and skilled businesses - please give your money to them and not The Ship Inn. We arrived around 7:45pm and ordered before 8pm. We waited well over 40 minutes before the food arrived and the restaurant was not even busy. The food was extremely bland and obviously not freshly made despite claims the food is. The mushroom and leek pie was completely tasteless, the vegetables were abused - overcooked and no seasoning. The peas looked and tasted like they came out of a tin, genuinely would have loved to have had them frozen instead. My partner had the Chili - it was extremely bland too. The service was not great - no one checked on the table once for the hour we were there. One waitress was very rude when one of our party made a light joke about the food taking a while and lied about there being many tickets before us, even though we could clearly see there were not many tables at all. I appreciate that hospitality is hard work and a lot is not the servers fault, I work in hospitality myself. But the service was nonexistent or rude. Please do not go here.

The food in this pub is not good. We went there for lunch and I had the fish finger sandwich but it was clearly made with very cheap fish fingers which didn't contain very much fish at all. It came with a very sorry looking salad. My wife had the soup and it tasted like a cheap, full of E numbers, cup-a-soup. Not impressed at all. There is a very ironic sign on the bar saying that they don't sell fast food, they sell good food made fresh. It actually did arrive in good time. I guess it doesn't take long to add water to a packet soup.

Ordered for a family of 4 All greesey fryer food apart from the steak which I ordered medium but got well done. Signs all over the bar of broken items and taps in the toilet don't work. Time to shut shop I think as it's a good size and good location but 63 quid for that frozen rubbish is extortion.

They refused to serve me a cup of tea without explaining why. Ordered beer battered fish goujons, chips & peas, received breaded goujons, burnt on the outside soggy and mushy on the inside, played hunt the fish and lost. 2% fish suggested cheap frozen, the chips still frozen in middle and lukewarm, peas, rock hard, and cold. Avoid.

My friends and I visited Looe for a weekend away on the weekend of the music festival. The man with star tattoos was disgustingly disrespectful, addressing customers as “hungry pigeons” and starting arguments with customers for no reason. My friends waited 20 minutes for a drink whilst he was deciding who he wanted to serve no matter how long we had been waiting. A customer next to me stated that I was next in line respectfully and the manager approached him aggressively and went onto serve every customer but him. What an awful bar tender.

We ended up fond of this pub as it seems always open and serves our favourite Korev. We like the music in the background and the window corner on poop deck, perfect spot for people watching. It seems popular with families and serves food till wait. I wish they could sort the toilets out as the taps are broken and whole place messy. Unlike some other places it seems reliable and open. Shame, there is no wi fi.

Chose the luxury vegetarian burger with a soft roll as it was advertised as gluten-free. 45 minutes later, a over priced deep-fried vegetarian burger with no bun turned up and was charged full price. It was hard on the outside and mush on the inside. My wife had some unappealing scampi. How hard is it to keep a gluten-free bun in the freezer? Really do not recommend the food here.

I’ll start by saying it’s a nice pub, but in my opinion the food lets it down. It be great if you were just going for a drink, the pub being dressed in lots of nautical chandlery. But I wouldn’t eat the food again, being dry and tasteless, making me feel like it is all probably frozen. The sandwiches are average at best, and the salads could have a bit more effort behind them, and I know a lot of people will complain about me saying that, but I was a chef in a pub earlier in my career and I know it’s not hard.

A nice little pub with nice decor. The food was amazing and not too badly priced. All fish dishes use locally sourced cornish fish. Only downside was that the vegi burger was more a paste than an actual burger which didn't look very advertising, was quite tasteless too and texture was just off. Rest of the food was great though. Service was questionable which is why this is only a 3 star review. We went in as a group of 9 and asked if they had room ruch they did, but they answered in a tone that suggested they didn't want more people and wanted us to go away. They also don't have cutlery or sauces on the tables so when we asked if we could be given some the girl who served us just went 'over there'. As we all had our food she could of at least gone to get them for us, wasn't exactly service with a smile.

Disappointed. From the outside looks lovely, disabled access was okay, just a couple small steps. But when i was ordering food the staff member made me and my son in law very uncomfortable. As habit from having kids( and a bad memory)i write what we want down and usually just hand it over to wait staff. Never had a negative experience with this, usually they are really happy as saves them a job! However, the staff member thought it funny to joke about dyslexia and illiteracy ( the person i was with has limited abilities in this area) ,i took him seriously, apologised and said i would do the order verbally. He then said he was joking and started to critize my writing ( i write very clearly when doing these orders on purpose) Anyway, the person with me was embarrassed and stressed and so was I. To be honest, if it was just myself and my husband i would have declined to continue and go somewhere else. When the food came it was very ordinary, homemade, lumpy mash etc. Tasted okay, but not great. Nice pub to pop in for quick drink and the quirky surroundings but i personally won't be back ( yes, i am cornish and relatively local) P.s i am not easily annoyed / put off but thinking a disability is funny and taking fun in someones obvious nervousness/ feeling awquard is really not good customer service.

We find The Ship Inn is a great place to feed the family as it's so reasonably priced, and portion sizes are equally generous to match! Likely the largest pub in Looe, for us it ticks many boxes, it's family friendly, including fur babies too as staff ensure that there are plenty of fresh water bowls made available as well as a treat here and there much to our dogs delight! We do particularly enjoy live music hosted on Friday nights from 9pm. We have enjoyed a host of genres, which is a hit with both locals and tourists alike! Finally and by no means least, in the main we have found this establishment to deliver excellent customer service,..there are some great characters behind that bar and behind the scenes.

Four of us went in after dinner to have a quick drink. The pub was not busy despite some good live music, We wanted four drinks and had to wait for an extended time to be served...not sure why as the pub was not busy. When eventually a girl served us she was sullen and miserable and had clearly forgotten what smiling was about or indeed that it is an important component of bar work. We had three goes at getting a gin and tonic, glasses were dirty...lipstick ingratiated the top of my girlfriends glass and when pointed out the sullen bar maid simply poured the gin from this glass into another one , ice appeared to be about as readily available as a Woolly mammoth; as was any sign of a smile or any modicum of customer service and respect. I challenged the bar manager who was sitting behind the bar about the service (or rather lack of) that we were receiving ...she scowled "the girl is new and nervous and I have been helping her". I saw no sign of any assistance being given other than to provide additional education on how to have a non-friendly attitude and treat customers, the life and blood of a pub, with distain. I told her that it was clear why the staff were as they were...it was because of the "great leadership". I have never been to Looe before...a lovely place that I would love to revisit, I had never been to the Ship Inn before...I never ever will again!

I have to admit that I am not the person that comments on anything and everything, nor do I ever right a review of my experience. If I am unsatisfied with the experience, I just won't return again. But ... I have been seeing the Development of this establishment for that past 20 years and treated myself quite often to a night or two in any of the corner or best suites ( highly recommend those ) and enjoyed the ambiance and service this hotel had to offer. Our experience: Arrival to the hotel : We planned to have drinks prior to our meal. Found the bar area as busy as usual. With no free seats in sight, I ask the Brasserie manager if we could order drinks in the main lounge, whereas we been told that there normally is service but he has no clue what they doing today. Not answer I was hoping for. The entrance to the main lounge also been blocked off for some reason. Luckily the wait at bar was sufficient enough to pass the time for a table to become vacant. In previous visits, a relaxed table service was offered but not this time for some reason . Guess it’s an informal 5 star service.. , had to ask for bar menus as neither been on the bar or tables to see what’s on offer. ( also no usual complimentary nuts that used to be offered ) Restaurant We arrived early to our Booking at the samphire and were delighted to be able to be seated, unfortunately without any menus. It took about 10-15 min of us staring holes into the warm air, when I lost my patients and had to get up from the table to ask for menus at the entrance of the Restaurant. Yet again it took quite a while for us to order drinks and food as it seemed to be a chaotic service with everyone doing everything and no restaurant Manager nor head waiter in sight ( please note.. all evening ) . The lack of attention to detail was incredible .. table settings with knives to left and forks to right on every table .. just wow - giggle Food and drinks order done. ( ordered a glass of white wine with my mains, which never arrived ).. Drinks arrived what seamed ages. Overheard table next to us complaining about the slow service too, which been given a small apology but no solution to increase the speed of service ( yet again a lack of management ) Noticed the young waiter being unfamiliar on how to correctly present a bottle of wine and opening it, which I thought should be a training standard for a 5 star establishment. not only did he seem untrained, he also dried his hands in a used napkin left on the table next to him where diners just left. The pork belly starter , was below luke warm which was shame as its been rather tasty. I guess if a portion of this size is sitting on a kitchen pass for mere 3 min, it naturally will loose its core temperature, suggestion.. Next time use a cloche! I wanted to point this out to the service but yet again no manager or headwaiter to be seen and the waiters seem too busy to be bothered. Once they did ask if everything is alright, but by that time we finished what we had on the plate ( which is not a lot if you are hungry ) Unfortunately the main course of the hen and the monk fish not been any better and yet again being luke warm. Dessert of the frangipane tart and pineapple been ok, but yet again no attention to detail, as the dessert been bought out without cutlery being replenished prior. Ordered coffee to be served in the lounge, which arrived with no sugar or spoon and had to be asked for separately. When I paid my bill, I mentioned that the wine I ordered with my main course never arrived. No apology was offered.. A "informal fine Dining " experience. 95% informal - 5 % fine Dining. :-( Over the past 20 years I always chose the Headland hotel for its perfection, attention to detail and impeccable service, this time it's not delivered to its promise which is a shame cause that's what I will remember.. Coming from a 4 to a 5 star .. I expected more ( go back to 4 stars !!! You been better then
