Whilst touring the area found this pub courtesy of “Google” maps. Right opposite is a small Pay & display car park with more spaces 40 metres away. At the time of visiting one hour was free provided you got a ticket, however a “local” at the bar informed me that from June they were axing this “free” period. It’s a low door into this old pub, but once inside I was welcomed by the landlord who confirmed that meals were being served. It was a darkish place but they were happy to chat and when my soup arrived it was piping hot and enjoyable. This being May in Scotland it was extremely stormy and a soup and a sandwich fitted the bill and not expensive either. Recommended. Photo is of Eider Ducks on the coast near the Ship Inn.

The chippy is just up the road from us but we probably only pop in to get chips once a month to go with a meal we are making. The chips are always good these days, as is the service and the staff are really helpful. On more than one occasion I’ve seen them going above and beyond to help out a member of the public. Also really pleased to see the phasing-out of polystyrene trays and plastic bags in favour of paper and cardboard over the last few years. Fish could always be bigger but you could say that about any chippy these days and the last few fish I’ve had have been really good. Highly recommended.

We were there during the Haal festival and the restaurant was very efficiently run and the food was great.

Good things : This cafe is in a great location and offers plenty of seating outside which is ideal for those with dogs. Not so good things : The coffee was ok although pricey for the size of cup. Cakes were nice enough, but had too much buttercream icing. Bad things : The layout of the tables inside is a bit congested. The volume and choice of music appears to be for the benefit of the staff because we, and those around us at other tables, to raise our voices to have a conversation.

Disappointed with the cappuccino which was weak milky coffee which I did not finish. Lovely lady who served and made my cappuccino but she was no barista. Been here many times before but this is definitely my last cappuccino.

Been here twice on our break to Deeside. Staff really friendly and helpful. We had coffee and tea on our first visit with a slice of cracknel. Tea, Toasties and cracknel! (again) again on our second visit. Although we only had snacks which were very reasonably priced the food being delivered to other tables looked first class.
