Booked a table for 10 for dinner with a pre-order. They were ready for our arrival, waiting staff very attentive, food arrived quickly and was delicious!

We visited on Saturday 24 and Sunday 25 August bank holiday weekend. We had another great weekend here. Great selection of drinks and lovely food. The music on Sunday was really good and a great atmosphere. The staff as always are excellent and efficient even when the pub is busy. We look forward to our next visit soon

Fabulous place to have food & soak up the atmosphere of the Barbican. Menu had lots of tasty dishes to choose from, the service we had was 5 star, huge thanks to April & Grace. Loved the crab cakes & for the non drinkers would highly recommend the Birra Moretti zero alcohol, for the drinkers it has to be Korev. Super location overlooking the harbour.

What a well situated establishment, right on the Barbican Wharf/harbour in Old, authentic Plymouth. The decor is in keeping with the place and there are great views to be had in the upstairs restaurant. But the downstairs bar is just as cosy and there's lots of outdoor seating. My crab croquettes and crabby fries were delicious, you can't beat eating seafood by the sea. Lots of great local drink on offer too. Most of all the hospitality was amazing here, the chef was friendly and obviously takes pride in what he does and a special shout out to Jack who made me feel so welcome. I will be back!

Friends and I have visited this pub a few times after work to unwind. Nice relaxing vibe and very helpful staff. Blond lady always has a smile on her face.

I got served by a girl called Millie and she was lovely, she helped me pick the best cider because I was stuck on what to get. Amazing service with a friendly smile.

I don't come to the ship very often as I struggle with busy places and often experience frustration from the busyness- I did a review previously, but I now think it's fair to visit a place more than once to get a true representation of it. I visited today ( 17.8.24) with my husband and was served by Alana at 12:14 - She was very polite and professional. She greeted me with a natural smile, which automatically put me at ease, She didn't rush me, or made me feel that she was in a rush. She was extremely polite to every customer I saw her interact with, she had a great aura and that's awesome especially in a busy restaurant setting. I think Alana is a credit to The Ship as she encompasses everything you'd expect to see in a waitress/ barmaid. I'd like to also say that I do not know Alana, I've never met her before and this is a true review of my own experience within the ship.

Fantastic location and lovely building. Creative and well delivered menu, excellent service from Harvey. Good beer. We would definitely recommend.

Came in out the heat, nice and cool inside, staff were bice and friendly, I tried the dressed crab and it was amazing first time I have had crab and it was beautiful, highly recommend!

A delicious meal and very polite and helpful staff. There was some slight confusion with our order as there didn’t seem to be a button on the till when we asked to substitute something, so maybe you could add a notes system on the till to be able to customise an order? Apart from that we had a lovely experience! Would definitely come here again

I popped in for a drink recently and had an amazing experience. The drink selection was really good and had many options and I was served by a polite and lovely girl Emily. She was amazing when I couldn’t decide what to drink and recommended what she thought I would like. The outside seating area has beautiful views and overall I had an amazing time👍🏻😊

Had a fantastic reception at the Ship, April and Jon made me feel extremely welcome, they attended to my eating request although slightly fussy, they looked after me like family.

Emily is a legend, she served the drink really well. I even got a glass!

The Ship is always the place to be in the sunshine or on a busy night out! The beer garden is so lovely, overlooking the barbican and the bar staff and waiting staff are always so lovely! We Love that they're dog friendly and offer water bowls and doggie biscuits for all the pups visiting too

This was very very disappointing. The burger came with one of those pre sliced pieces of “cheese” - greasy and didn’t melt in the cold hard burger. The kids burger was so thin and hard, my daughter asked what it was as she’d never seen a “burger” like it before. The chunky chips with the fish and chips - some were nice, some were hard and under cooked. I must say all the staff we spoke to were kind and friendly, although the young waiter who asked how our meal was, when he told him how bad it was. He said “oh, you’re welcome” ….!? Such a shame because it’s a beautiful spot and lovely staff. Just really let down by the food!

It brought back fond memories of my time being homeless and the food I found on the floor. I’d be curious to see whether the chef was once homeless too and is trying to replicate it in his meal. Atmosphere? Great. Service? Good too. But Food? Nothing less than poor. Will not be coming back again.

We had a lovely night, friendly bar staff (Jon & Seth)and so much fun playing trivia. The linguini was delicious!

Lovely staff. Thanks Jon for the recommendation. Been here multiple times for the week. All the staff including Zo, Emily, Nathan, Anna, Jack, Grace and Harvey have been absolutely phenomenal. Would recommend 110%.

Went here to watch the Euros Semi-Final. They only had 1 TV outside which sat at about a 30° slant... It isn't that hard to make something somewhat level? It was also low down and small with barely anyone being able to see what was going on. The worst part were the drink prices, absolute rip off. £6+ a pint? Another place that has seemingly lost their marbles charging that much for a pint of liquid...

Was in the ship on Monday 3rd during the afternoon, we only had a couple of drinks, I have to say the manager was so positive and welcoming. Well worth a visit for the great service.

We visited in 2023 and the food was OK but my god we waited ages considering it wasn't very busy at all. Visited again today - 2nd June 2024, absolutely terrible service, we were one of the first to order food and waited ages for it to arrive. My wife went in to see where the food was and the waitress checked and it was ready, a few minutes later she brought it out. What the point in that was I’ll never know. The food was stone cold, we only noticed after I ate one of the fries, so my wife then touched her burger and said it was very cold. Fortunately after complaining we got a full refund because of a “miscommunication” between the bar and kitchen staff… Bear in mind it wasn’t even busy. Most definitely the last time we will go here after two poor experiences.

Come here today for some food and sat at a table outside. After looking at the menu which seems to have got smaller in choice, I went inside to place my order. On looking around it looked as if I was the first person to order food at 12:05 as there wasn’t anyone around. We waited for over half hour before I went to the bar to find out where my food order was and whilst I was there the girl who served me had a call from, I assume, the kitchen advising that my food was waiting to be served. I went back to my table and waited for her. When she brought the food out and left I could tell that the food wasn’t hot. The chips were cold and upon touching the burger it confirmed that it was also cold! For what we paid for our meal and drinks definitely wasn’t worth the £50 paid! I went back to the bar with the plates of food and asked for a refund as at this point I didn’t want to wait any longer for fresh food. I had to wait for a manager to issue my refund and had the excuse that there was miscommunication in the kitchen! I definitely won’t be coming back as we had the same issue last summer but wanted to give the place another try as it used to be a nice place to eat but now seems overpriced for the little amount of food you get.

I found this bar on the waterfront and was very impressed. There were 2 lovely staff John and Lana behind the bar who were more than happy to walk me through the local drinks and recommendations. A nice bar on the marina and if I'm in the area again would definitely try and get back to it.

The pub quiz here was absolutely amazing had a lot of fun. Would highly recommend. Jon was an amazing quiz master too!

Perfect place to relax with good food and drinks, great view of the harbour to top it all off! The lovely lady’s April and Lisa provided and great service and the builders have done a fantastic job with the refurbishment they’ve had.. 10/10

We visited the Ship this afternoon for lunch and had the Steak and the Roast Beef. The Steak was was cooked exactly how we asked for (medium) with chunky chips and salad and the Roast was just the right amount with perfectly cooked veg and roast potatoes and a huge Yorkshire pudding. The staff were so friendly and helpful. I definitely recommend the Ship. Thanks everyone

Amazing experience. Jon and Jack (our servers) were quite nice. It was my first time visiting Plymouth and I was really flattered by their hospitality. They even suggested places I can go around in Plymouth. All in all, I’d totally recommend the place.

beautiful location with outdoor seating overlooking harbour but the girls behind the bar were super hostile/unfriendly towards me - glaring and looking me up and down?? after we’d ordered and paid we were told we’d ordered wrong as it was sunday and they'd given us the regular menus so we had to reorder. I asked for a refund of the original food which none of them knew how to do. eventually the manager managed to and we reordered, but service wasn’t great and i didn’t feel welcome there. food was good though x

Went to The Ship to celebrate my husbands 50th. Unfortunately we were very disappointed. Went to order Cajun Chicken to be told they hadn't got any chicken. Went to order a pint of Guinness to be told they couldn't change the barrel. When the food finally arrived my husbands steak was cold, the garlic butter was basically runny margarine with some garlic added. My fish was all batter, the mushy peas were also cold. I'm glad I used my Christmas voucher to pay and not wasted my own money.

Great place for a wet Monday afterrnoon for a pair of visitors to Plymouth! Jon served me a very good espresso and chatted easily without being too much. When I asked where I could find sugar he apologised for assuming I wouldn’t want it which no one has ever done! We ordered some food which was great quality and nicely presented. Really good experience, thank you Jon, great hosting!

The Ship offers a wonderfully warm harbour side welcome with the staff being incredibly helpful, equalling its stunning setting. April and her team are a real credit to the venue, constantly striving to make it stand out as a pub you want to go to. Yesterday, Lana, Lauren and Jack showed that they really care about their patrons’ experience. I hope April and her team continue their great work as they have a dynamic that really works very well indeed.

Lovely Mother’s Day Sunday lunch. Mothers all given free Prosecco and bath bomb which was lovely gift. Staff very attentive. Dog friendly pub. Quick service. Varied menu.

Came here for a Sunday lunch. Everything tasted amazing. There was a great selection of vegetables with 6 being offered alongside the meat and roast potatoes. The red cabbage in particular was the best I've had in a long time. My only scrutiny was the small gravy pots! They need to be bigger for the amount of food you receive. It took about 20 minutes to get our order placed even though there was only one other table sitting in the restaurant. I also noticed that dogs were allowed in the restaurant... I understand them being allowed downstairs in the pub area but I don't tend to eat in restaurants that allow dogs, due to allergies, so this was disappointing. I would also like to mention that the music coming from the TV was deafening when you're sitting underneath it. I really think using the speakers that I noticed would benefit the atmosphere instead of one table having to ask for it to be turned down. Overall, the staff were lovely and the Sunday roast was very lovely. I'd definitely recommend coming for a visit to give it a try.

My colleague and I stopped in this place on a weeknight after work, and to be honest I was pretty disappointed… the food was fine, but the service from the staff wasn’t great / borderline rude.

Truly lovely, friendly staff, and delicious beers. There's lots of pubs to choose from in the area but I'd definitely come back here again.
