Lovely atmosphere, very welcoming. Menu seems full but it seems full of nothing. I felt the menu was limited. Nice to see a pie on there but it was chicken, ham and leek. Didn't appeal to anyone. Might have been nice to see a steak and ale pie or something. I had fish and chips, the meal was actually very nice, good quality and plenty of it. Just a shame on the lack luster menu. The chef had cooked the fish beautifully, and the peas I think had butter melted in them which was a really tasty touch. I think the chip were underdone, they had that starchy taste that i wasn't keen on, but that was the only criticism on a very lovely meal. Also, they had a couple of extra ciders in boxes that was a lovely accompanyment to the normal bog standard over fizzy aspalls that everyone seems to sell. Oh, proper onion rings, cooked really well, , I think. The chips let my meal down a bit which was a real shame as everything else deserved full marks. I just can't justify giving the meal 5 out of 5 when the chips were underdone and chips are such a big part of fish and chips. If the chips were a little thinner they would be perfect, but as they were fat chips they just needed a little longer to lose that starchy taste

Had a late Sunday lunch here. We booked in advance as the reviews seemed to identify it as being popular. Glad we did as our table was for 5 pm and we were able to book the meats we required in advance so as not to be disappointed. The meal was excellent, I had the roast beef, hubby the pork and turkey, all very tender. Veg cooked so it still had a bite accompanied by a majestic Yorkshire pudding which dominated the plate. Couldn’t fault it. Staff very pleasant and welcoming. Only given four stars because after such a large meal we couldn’t face trying a dessert, however watch this space as we shall be returning! Update as stated above but not about the food, which was good and value for the money and still too filling for us to attempt the dessert selection 😬. Friday night, busy pub, thought we’d have a quiet drink as it’s out of season…… silly us 🤭. However when we asked to move tables, as with hearing impairments we found it difficult, with the background noise, Romey (sorry if I’ve misspelt that 😬) didn’t blink an eye and we moved to a quieter area. What a star this young lady is, from when we arrived to when we left she was very attentive to everyone, asking if the meal was ok and clearing the tables quickly, can’t sing her praises highly enough, such a lovely bubbly character; a real credit to the place.

Great portion, beef beautifully cooked, red cabbage, roast carrots, long stem broccoli and roast parsnips beautifully seasoned and flavoured. Yorkshire pudding, roast potatoes and stuffing all amazing and nothing dry! Also ordered a kids meal and the chicken was well cooked in a fresh breadcrumb batter. They were more the obliging in adding roast potatoes and peas.

A family trip to Reedham, and we spent some time in the evenings relaxing at The Ship's garden watching the boats go by on the river. The Ship is a welcoming place, with an outside pub garden, a pool room and food available on an evening, featuring a variety of fare from pizza's, burgers and a hearty Hunters Chicken. But on Thursday night the specials included a couple of curries, and we opted for the Curried Sea bass with black onion seed and coriander, roast potatoes, samphire and curry sauce. Four of my favourites, roast potatoes, samphire, curry and sea bass. So they were already onto a winner, and once I had tasted it, they had definitely won me over. To the extent that I tried to get the recipe from the chef, who unfortunately was not forthcoming. So I would definitely recommend bobbing into the Ship if in the area, whether its for a quiet pint contemplating by the river, or a chat with the locals and a meal, it's all good.

We have visited The Ship almost from the day we arrived back in the UK in 2004 and have never been that impressed. In fact we avoided it for several years as it was not very welcoming. So, why do we feel we now need to write a review some twenty years later? Well the honest answer is that The Ship has been transformed! The Ship is a pub restaurant situated right next to the Victorian swing bridge which in itself provides a delightful backdrop in the Summer as you relax in the delightful, well cared-for garden and even provides entertainment as it silently swings open or closed to allow the passage of river traffic or trains accordingly . The bar has a fine range of ales, a very small wine list and is spotless. The restaurant offers a small range of standard fare yet delicious pub-food which never fails to hit the spot (best whitebait we have ever tasted). However, we urge you to check out the specials board. The chefs are encouraged to present daily "specials" which are always a delight and definitely worth trying! To identify one that stands out above the rest is almost impossible as they are all scrummy! However, I am an absolute devotee of the slow-roasted pork belly. Truly heaven on a plate! We are also great fans of the Sunday Roasts. The meats are a delight as they melt in the mouth! Then there are the deserts... Now those of you who know the short redhead and I will now be reeling back "aghast" as your re-read that last statement as you know that we do not eat deserts. However, for The Ship we make an exception! Someone in the kitchen is obviously passionate about preparing and serving them and we find them difficult to resist (especially the brownies)! All I will say is make sure you have left enough room for a desert as the portions are wickedly large! Then there is the service. All we can say is "Well Done Team"! The welcome on arrival is always warm, there are always lots of smiles and there is obvious attention to detail. Nothing ever seems too much trouble and every guest is treated like a VIP. So, why wait until now to review what has effectively become our "local"? Well... Our visit last night is what has prompted this review. The owners have rearranged the layout for the New Year and it makes what was great before even better! The "new" restaurant area is most convivial and I am sure will provide the perfect ambiance for diners! Well done again! Oh! Almost forgot... The new coffee machine is a very, very welcome addition! Delicious again! Thank you and well done to all the team at The Ship, Reedham!

My son came up from Kent to take me out for a Birthday lunch. I thought The Ship at Reedham would be ideal. There were good reviews on here and it looked reasonable. What an experience! I was a little surprised at the price of the roast at £18.50, which seemed a little pricey. Cue the meals. 3 thin slices of beef on 1 meal; a small piece of chicken on the other and my belly pork was so tough I had to ask for a steak knife. I still nearly needed fillings working my way through each mouthful. The roast potatoes were not cooked for long enough. My son had a taste of the pork and gave up trying to get through it. When I got the steak knife, I told the waitress that the meat was very tough. She then asked if everything was ok "apart from that" my son pulled a face to indicate that he was still eating and she just walked off. We finished the meal and we were told to go to the bar to pay. I asked if there was a manager we could speak to and the waitress responded that I would have to go the bar and speak to the barmaids. In the event, another family member went to the bar. The barmaid ultimately only charged us for drinks, but there was no apology, the last plate was still sitting with uneaten food on our plates and no-one seemed in the least concerned that we had had such an awful experience. Thoroughly ruined what should have been a lovely outing. I will never use this pub again.

It was my first and most definitely the last visit. I wasn't happy with the food. I ordered a jacket potato with chicken and bacon bits... the potato was hot but the chicken and bacon were cold and tasteless! I went there with my 3 months old baby just to be asked to change his nappy on a "bleached floor in the disabled toilet as there is no baby changing station...not family friendly at all.

I had been looking forward to trying Bread Source. Their window display of fayre always looks delicious. On a cold day, this is possibly not the place to go if you're looking for hot food. There was a limited selection at the time (1:15pm). Nothing is made to order. Working out in the cold, the only thing available were toasties (of which there were only two left). They took a really long time to cook, which was inconvenient. They do not have a microwave for savories- something to consider possibly. There were at least 3 staff members behind the till, none of whom seemed to have any sense of urgency. That's not brilliant when you're stopping for a 20 minute lunch break. The food was on the expensive side and boxed up with no way of containing any heat. Having said that, the sausage roll was delicious even if it was served cold and the jam donuts were praised on site for their filling. The atmosphere, waiting for a long time, for two simple toasties was dull in what is a large space with little interaction. It's the little things. The shop is not the best for traffic flow with the till directly at the point of entry/exit. You feel compelled to rush your choice to get out of the way. Whether eating in or taking out, perhaps the focus should be on the service. It disappointed me. Perhaps that's not usual practice.

Very Friendly staff. Excellent food and service. Portions are generous and food is cooked and presented well. Good value for money, especially when one of their 30% offers is on. By far my favorite place to eat.

Nice cafe, but conversation was difficult because of a very noisy chiller.
