The Sherlock Holmes Public House & Restaurant in City of London, Westminster

Couldn’t be more happy to experience the legend himself Sherlock. Must visit for a Sherlock fan.

A guide recommended it to us and the truth is that it was very good, the service was very friendly and the atmosphere was spectacular, all set in the mythical detective, a typical English pub to eat and drink beer.

This place has the same menu as the community of pubs in the area (those with the green sign) and the same affordable prices. The atmosphere is pleasant and the setting is excellent. It took a long time to bring out the dishes, but everything tasted good. There is a little room with details of Sherlock Homes, so it is perfect for fans of his stories.

A very nice place very close to Trafalgar. They have a bar and restaurant area.

Great experience! We came on Saturday evening without a reservation, and in 15 minutes we found a place, the fish and chips were excellent and the lady was very, very pleasant. We will definitely come back next time 😊

What a fantastic place to eat or drink when in London. We had prebooked a table for dining service to celebrate my daughter's 16th birthday. We were welcomed in with a friendly smile and chatter from the staff, making us feel comfortable from the get go. The artefacts dotted around the rooms are a great addition to the experience. Food was the best I'd eaten all weekend in London and it is definitely where we will book to eat when visiting London again. We were able to get 15% off with our AA breakdown membership, this is available at most Greene King pubs. Value for money we thought was excellent. My daughter asked to purchase a mug from the merchandise they sell and they wouldn't let her pay for it, instead giving it as a gift for her birthday which was such a lovely gesture from what I presume was the landlady/owner? overall a fantastic dining experience, would recommend and will definitely return.

Dog are welcome, not kids. We’ve been asked to leave since “their policy” does not allow kids after 8pm. Weird and meaningless Discrimination.

We booked a table in advance and I'm glad we did as it was pretty busy. I took my Niece here for lunch. Shared a burger and a side Mac & Cheese.... it was all really tasty. Above all, the staff are fantastic and really made our visit. Both ladies are attentive, happy and give you their time. Thanks for a lovely lunch and for looking after us!

I have to say, what a wonderful gem of a place. Immediately opposite the hotel we're staying in and, for once, I didn't fancy touring the streets looking for somewhere to eat. Talk about lucky, talk about Golden Balls. Lovely pint and lovely food and staff were great. Oh, yeah, I'd recommend

I celebrated my birthday here and I can say it exceeded my expectations. The staff was very well-organized and welcoming, and the food was delicious.

I had the opportunity to visit this beautiful and educational place while I was in London on a layover. The waitress was very kind, the food was delicious, and the drinks were refreshing. I was able to sit upstairs by the Sherlock Holmes room which I thought was absolutely amazing. I truly enjoyed myself however, I hope next time they'll have some souvenirs available.

I love Sherlock Holmes so this seemed like the perfect place for me. The staff was personable and friendly. The food was absolutely delicious. I had authentic fish & chips for the first time and was not disappointed. The only downside was I also wanted to try Eton mess but they were out.

Ho prenotato il tavolo online prima di partire per Londra, vi consiglio infatti di farlo visto che è sempre pieno di clienti. Il cibo era buonissimo, mai assaggiata una lombata così buona, senza parlare della salsa, fenomenale! Il cameriere che ci ha serviti è stato gentilissimo e la sala in cui eravamo era bellissima. Tutto è ispirato al celebre personaggio, una tappa fondamentale della capitale inglese!

We arrive at 8:30 p.m. on a Monday evening for a drink and something to eat. They tell us that the kitchen is closed yet on their file it says kitchen open until 10 p.m.!!!

We ordered the sirloin steak and the Sherlock Holmes burger. Unfortunately, the meats had a strong smell, which made them less enjoyable and likely not to everyone's taste. However, the restaurant's ambiance, decoration, and overall experience were exceptional, leaving a positive impression despite the food issue.

Attractive exterior. Average or less than average interior upstairs, where the dining reservations are seated. Poor approach down a narrow hall with a long queue. If you're bold enough to jump the queue you can be seated with a reservation. (But how would you know?) Food and service average +.

Everything was already set up for us. We were a large group (9ppl) and felt welcomed and well taken care of.

I book one month before the required date for a group of 10 people. 2 days before they send me an email anticipating the dinner time by 1 hour, 4 hours before they cancel my reservation without any reason and without responding to my request for explanations. The conclusions are yours.

The atmosphere was wonderful, the service was quick, friendly, and welcoming, even though the place was nearly full. The menu is varied and intriguing, although we both went with pub classics, fish and chips, and steak and ale pie. Both were generous, cooked to perfection, and delicious. The price was a little high, but considering the location and the quality of the food, service, and atmosphere, the price was in no way out of line.

Nous avions réservé pour 2 familles à 21h. Nous recevons une confirmé par mail puis quelques jours avant un autre mail avec nouvel horaire 20h. Arrivant en avion nous écrivons 3 fois pour dire que nous serons là à 21h pas avant. Aucune réponse. Nous appelons 20 fois le jour même sans réussir à avoir quelqu’un. Nous arrivons finalement à 20h40. Vous êtes très en retard la cuisine est fermée. Nous leur disons d’avoir écrit et téléphoné. Le manager va voir. Nous pouvons vous faire uniquement des Fisher and chips parce que la gaziniere est cassée. Donc le problème n’est pas le retard c’est leur cuisine qui ne marche pas. D’ailleurs pour un samedi soir il y avait 3 tables à l’étage de la salle à manger… absurde. Et fish and chips très gras et pas terrible.

Old time pub with great atmosphere

They made us wait a long time, from 5:00 p.m. to 5:45 p.m. and then they told us that even though it was early, they no longer served food.

Friendly staff with drinks at London prices as you would expect for a pub in the west end. Let down by a lack of bar stools downstairs which could easily be remedied. Seating upstairs is for diners only.

One of the best meals in London !

A small and cozy pub, which has its own vibe. The Sherlock ale was especially good, we really enjoyed that. As we did not order food, I can not review it. But as most pub related to the Greene King corporation serve the same food, it might be good. The service was good but a little grumpy which I disliked, but every one has a bad day once a while, I guess.

We had a great time at the Sherlock Holmes Pub! It was a busy holiday and they had a large group booked but were able to squeeze our party in. The atmosphere was great, the food was delicious, and the service was exceptional! Plus we got to hear the story of the sisters running the pub. We will be back again our next time here! It’ s the second time i enjoy this restaurant and I can day that it’s always a pleasure to have dinner here . In the place you can find Sherlock Holme ‘s themed room and a Very good british food . I suggest to try it , All it’s Very Very good . 👏🏻

I've been there with a group of 28 people. They let us in 45 minutes earlier and we have been served as royalities.

Attentive staff, nice chunky chips - when my 'cheesey' chips came out there was barely any cheese and not many chips, I sent them back and then they came out perfect and even added a few extra chips for me - the gravy was also spot on 👌

I decided to celebrate my 60th birthday in a stylish English pub and Sherlock Holmes simply charmed me. The table we ordered was already ready and the staff attended to us immediately. We had typical British food and a bottle of POMMERY sparkling wine, took some pictures with Sherlock Holmes etc...simply, we had a wonderful evening, especially thanks to our waitress. My thanks to all the stuff, I hope we´ll be back soon. Boris

The atmosphere was great and so was the service. The drinks were decent as well but the food we ate was terrible. I ordered two appetizers, one being the fried squid which was served cold and soggy. The second was the bacon wrapped wieners which tasted like cardboard with a drizzle of maple syrup. Unfortunately the food just made the overall experience very underwhelming.

Sunday roast was disappointing, don’t order pork belly, or order something additional! You’ll be hungry!!! Fish and ships was better!

Nice themed pub, where you can also pay in cash. Set on several levels, it is clean and well furnished. We drank two excellent Guinnesses here.

The charm of the place is priceless, the rest could be improved, it is not the worst place to eat but don't expect great culinary skills either.

One of the best pubs I’ve ever eaten in the food is top quality and the service is just as great never had a bad meal in here and been returning now for over 8 years, in fact I have table booked for my family’s Xmas heat together on the 21st December for 11 of us as my brother had wanted to go here since I told him how great it is in there

We had one of our favorite meals of our trip at the Sherlock Holmes Pub! The steak and ale pie and the sticky toffee pudding were standouts among several different things we ordered, all delicious. The staff was warm, friendly and gracious and made our visit one we will always remember.

I absolutely loved this restaurant! The service was excellent—attentive and friendly throughout. The decorations were truly stunning and created an incredible atmosphere; it felt like stepping into a movie scene. Every detail added to the charm, making the experience unforgettable. I booked a table in the dining room on the 1st floor. I had the festive duck hash, it looks a bit messy but tasted very very good! Table next to us ordered some fish and chips and they look great too. Pub food is usually mediocre but this is great and pretty reasonably priced, with mains between 15-20. Service pretty good and efficient. Would recommend and revisit! There’s also a curious decorated room next to the dining room which might be Sherlock’s lab or something (or a murder scene).

Haven't been here for years (decades?). Nothing much has changed which is probably a good thing. Had a nice pub meal. The choice of wines and beers was disappointing.

Amazing service by sisters Jo and Nat. They were both so friendly. Food was lovely and can’t wait to go back. A lovely touch that the establishment offer an invisible mc meal for a pound which is a donation towards M Mc Millian charity.

The property offers a restaurant, a roof garden and serves alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks along with affordable pub food. The pub has historical significance, as it was reopened by Cedric Charles Dickens, great-grandson of Charles Dickens. Visitors praise the welcoming atmosphere and friendly staff! We only drank a beer, without having dinner, but I recommend it even just for a drink: very good House Ale!

Went into this lovely pub today for lunch, and the very kind manager fitted us in as we didn’t have a reservation, the food was lovely but could have been warmer. Staff upstairs were lovely and warm and helpful when I asked about the ghost tour bus. I’m sorry I didn’t get your names and once again thank you for fitting us in.

Just stood at the bar for 20 minutes. Didn't get served, but people coming in after me did. I walked out. Two of the slowest barmen I've ever seen in 50 years.

My partner and I love eating local food during our travels and here at The Sherlock Holmes Pub we had the opportunity to try an excellent Staek & Ale pie! Also highly recommended for the characteristic atmosphere it offers.

We visited on 31st October and tried the sticky toffee pudding with custard, a pint of Guinness & orange juice. Charming and cosy pub - we felt very comfortable in here. Best pub food we have had in a very long time. The staff are very friendly and on the ball. Definitely recommend.

This is a busy pub close to Trafalgar Square. I was here at 4.30pm on a Tuesday and the atmosphere was good. I had a double Craggenmore at £9.40, taking advantage of the double up for £3 offer (a single is £6.40). This is a very popular pub with tourist giving it a very cosmopolitan atmosphere. During the day a large part of the pub is brightly lit due to the large windows on two sides. At night it has a more intimate feel. I was here on a cold day and the pub was quite chilly, due mainly to the fact that the main doors were open. Despite the cold there was a lot of people drinking outside. They do serve food and have a large upstairs dining room. There is also a small museum dedicated to Sherlock Holmes. The service was okay. In summary, an OK pub in a great location.

Sherlock Holmes is my go to pub when in London. They have my favorite UK IPA on tap, Neck Oil, so it's always easy to stop in for a pint. Great staff both upstairs and downstairs. All the locals have been very friendly every time I'm visiting.

EXCELLENT PLACE. The place is very cool. The ground floor is a very cool pub type. And going up on the first floor are the dining rooms. In Sherlock's dining room there is a showcase with a recreation of an office. The entire place is decorated with old Sherlock Holmes posters and objects. It's amazing. The staff's attention is excellent, I had to wait a bit in line to get a table but they informed me and treated me with extraordinary kindness. The food was delicious, I ordered the fish and chips plate there on recommendation, it came with a spectacular tartar sauce. The delicious fresh Cider. They also let me charge my phone's battery even though the outlet wasn't on my table.

Was fun to be here during UEFA final week. Nice & friendly crowds, wasn’t so touristy as the name sounds 😆 The food was amazing, I’m still dreaming about the duck confit we had :)

Typically English pub but with decoration and atmosphere inspired by Sherlock Holmes. Good quality of food in general, local and quality beers according to the region. The table service was very helpful and friendly, but it took a long time in the kitchen.

It was quiet. No music. No outside noise. Service was perfect. Happy with the food. Enough ambience and the Sherlock Holmes study display was imaginative, original and entertaining.
