We have just had lunch at this lovely little pub. The service and food were excellent and the atmosphere lovely. No rushing and very friendly. We will definitely visit again - its a little gem and so nice not to have a pretentious restaurant which abound in the Cotswolds. Thank you for letting us stay and chatter until 3.0 p.m.

Great service! Had the steak frites. I’ve never had fries this good! Yum! Rob, the bartender was so friendly and helpful and Sophie was wonderful. The atmosphere was just what I pictured from a pun in the Cotswolds.

We had a wonderful experience at the Sherborne Arms. Rob the bartender and Sophie took great care of us. Try the Gin Bramble! We had dinner by the fireplace in a snug and cozy area with lots of ambience. Three of us had the Steak Frites and it was delicious! We bumped into some fellow Aggie from Texas and had a totally enjoyable evening.

Everything about this pub is good except that I feel if you have allergy problems I don't feel they take it seriously enough. I felt that they pay lip service to it. I wouldn't go back.

We called last Saturday to have a bite to eat en route to Woodstock, and enjoyed a warm welcome, a nice beer and a satisfying lunch. She opted for the poached salmon and I went for the ham and eggs, each with chips. Both meals were perfectly cooked, served promptly and very tasty. This is excellent pub grub.

We had pre-booked a table for twelve and the restaurant had obviously planned in readiness with two serving staff seemingly waiting to serve us. Pre-meal drinks order taken and served seamlessly. Perfect attentiveness and patience for the usual umming and ahhing amongst a large group ordering. The very helpful and friendly 'waitress' accommodated a few small swaps of chips for mash etc. and helped with advice and recommendations. Timing of service was excellent despite the restaurant being busy from at least one other fairly large group. Attentiveness and demeanour of ALL staff was faultless. I think everyone thoroughly enjoyed their meals which ranged from whitebait starters to curry to pies, roast pork and salmon. Would highly recommend as it was obvious the customer mattered to this establishment. Many thanks.

I rarely enthuse, but this family run pub and it's grub was one of the best I have experienced. Friendly personal service of family cooked fantastic food in a lovely environment what more could you ask. Well actually we did ask more, we asked if it was dog friendly and it was. I thoroughly recommend supporting this family run independent establishment.

Delicious food with plenty of vegetarian options which was great to see. We had the specials Katsu curry and squash curry - fantastic! Also had the plum and almond tart - absolutely delicious. Normal pricing for a pub and very cosy interior around Christmas time.

We enjoyed a very satisfying dinner here last Saturday. We both had a starter: I tried the vegetable samosas; and she the king prawns. Both well-prepared and tasty. There was a good selection of mains. We both had fish, the Bibury trout and the plaice. Perfectly cooked and delicious. Don’t be put off by the use of the term “fries”, for they turned out to be proper chips, and very good too. She drank a very smooth house red, and I had an excellent pint of locally brewed real ale. We didn’t have room for a pudding, but finished off with a perfect double espresso. Relaxing ambiance and great service. Nothing to complain about, so we’ll be back!

Where to start? The pub is in a lovely setting, and the welcome was warm and friendly. One of our party has mobility problems, but the staff were really patient and helpful. The menu is unpretentious but varied, and our only problem was deciding what to choose. The Bibury trout was cooked perfectly, as were the steaks and the lamb & apricot casserole. There's a range of desserts to pick from, and even the coffee was excellent. We had a lovely afternoon, and will definitely be back!

While the quiet Aldsworth location is nice- as is the feel when you enter the pub, I found there were a few things that brought this down. The first is the rather dated feel the place has- and not in a good way. Some pubs are great with the feeling of an old building, a roaring fire, stone walls, all that. This is the other kind of dated; although the building appeared old, the interior reflected little of that charm. Off to the right of the bar is a room with tables- two of which I noticed are under a net seemingly crammed with dead insects. I counted many a moth, or fly stuck in that net. Why not clean that net out? Do patrons normally have to sit under this veil of insect death? That certainly makes you question the standards, as charitable as I may have been feeling. You can often tell the quality of a pub's food by how they serve their steak. On this front, I'd say the result was worse than subpar. How should a steak like that be cooked? In a very hot pan, seared intensely and quickly, having already been seasoned ahead of time with salt and pepper (and the surface patted dry, I must add), in order to get a lovely near-crust browned outside, and a lovely rare inside, as that is indeed how I prefer my steaks. Unfortunately I fear that had I asked for any rarer than what I did I would have ended up with a plate of simply uncooked meat, due to the appearance of the pale grey slab I ended up with. And not a dark grey; I truly mean a light grey. Almost the colour of cooked pork. Not a sear in sight. The taste only compounded this, and some part of me wonders whether what I was served was a beef steak at all. If I go to a supermarket, this is not what their beef tastes like. If I got to one of the nearby butchers, I know what their beef tastes like. This did not taste like beef. It tasted like meat, of some description (or animal), but that flavour does ring some alarm bells. I honestly advise this pub to check their beef supplier and make sure they're not being delivered something else, and for their chefs to please learn how to cook a steak. I go out to eat to experience something better than I could make at home. Frankly I could probably source a better cut of meat and cook it to a higher standard for much less than the meal cost and save myself a trip out in the future. All that said, the chips were really good. I can only hope that this rather negative experience was due to the rather large table in the pub (seating 11 or 12) was being served at the same time as I was, because the wait times for the sad steak I was given were disappointingly long. I had long since finished my drink by the time it was served. That said, I don't think any sort of wait would make that steak taste like beef. And considering a medium rare steak with a good sear in a hot pan should only take 5 minutes maximum, there's little excuse for the timing. Our table was not visited once to check how the food was, and the plates took significant time to be cleared, and then a still-in-progress drinking glass was cleared by mistake too. Overall rather disappointed. Finally, it seems that when negative reviews of this place are posted on here, rather than simply take the hit, the owners deem it fit to argue with the customer's experiences on a public forum, as can be seen by any of the other poor reviews on here. Not a good look, and has probably soured my opinion of the place more than it already was. It doesn't matter if you *think* you're doing a good job- you need to listen to your customers when they're telling you there are big things that could be improved.

I stopped by with a couple of friends after visiting RAF Fairford and originally planned to stop in Bibury, big mistake - totally packed! But even from Essex I knew the area like the back of my hand as my late nan lived in Stroud, anyway I digress. I knew of the pub and decided to drop in with my friends. On arrival there's the usual one-way system and you order at the entrance and it's table service. When your drinks are delivered you pay then. It's a pub which is on the beaten track (B4425) but can be found off the beaten track, and does have a village feel to it which is lovely. So, if you can't get into a pub in Bibury and are looking for a drink, give this pub a try.

Sunday lunch with family comprising 4 people. Arrived as booked at 12.30pm and we were seated immediately. Restaurant was not particularly busy at this time. Menus and drinks followed shortly afterwards. Good selection to choose from.Wait for food to arrive was reasonable at around 15 minutes. Two people chose the roast beef with trout and chicken and ham pie chosen by the other two. All were considered tasty and good value.Dessert menu was offered and choices made. Again, all met with approval. The steamed orange and lemon sponge in particular.Atmosphere - became much busier later on but service did not suffer.Couple of points worthy of mention. The roast is restricted to one variant only per week and the cherry and almond steamed sponge portion was quite small with no almonds evident. Will be visiting again

Been a while since I wrote a review but I just had to do this one.I went on a coach trip with 43 other lunch goers. This booking was made a while ago. This pub is in its 4th generation of owners, believe me, there won't be a 5th.We arrived. Put into separate parts of the pub. The heated side had 2 large reservations for god knows who. So some of us were shoved into another part. 1. No heating as such. The owner said that there was a heater in the room. The room was approximately 16' by 30'The said heater threw out heat for about a 6 inch radius. We pre booked our meals. Roast Pork or Chicken. 2, the food was tepid. The plates Stone cold. Staff could handle complaints about the cold food. Stuffing was practically raw and the so called roast potatoes were only in the oven for 20 minutes. They were cold and hard. I asked for my new potatoes to be changed for roast ( before I received my meal) I was told that the plates could not be changed in anyway. The manager finally came after our tour manager informed him of our concerns. I asked as they knew weeks ago about our booking, why was the heating not turned on in the morning. No answer. About the cold and under cooked food no answer. Very disappointed to say the least. Having been part of a catering family for many years, I can only say that they all need basic training. If the chef can turn out half cooked veg and plate food on cold plates i can't see them getting more return visits from customers.

We have driven past this pub many times on our way to Bibury and Cirencester and I don't know why we haven't called in before today. It's a 'real' pub serving good food at sensible prices unlike some pretentious establishments in the Cotswolds that serve very average food at very high prices. The cosy bar is very welcoming and the table for our group of 12 was in the adjoining dining area. Everything is spotlessly clean and there is a comprehensive menu to select from. My Thai Green Curry was excellent and I heard positive reactions from other members of our group. The young lady serving us was charming and very efficient. We will certainly return. Last went to the Sherborne Arms around 15 years ago when it had a well-earned reputation for good fish dishes. Not much has changed and the restaurant still serves excellent, honest food at very reasonable prices. We eat out fairly regularly taking different family members each time and also with friends we go. Have lived in the Cotswolds a long time and travel further afield sometimes just to go somewhere different other than our favourite pubs. This pub nestles down a hill off the main road with a pleasant small garden at the front.A menu that suggests good home cooked style food and that is what we got. Portions were more than fair but even though the chocolate fudge cake was enormous and I defy most people to eat it all it would have been better to have gone for quality over quantity as it was more cake like and the fudge bit just round the outside. A pleasant lunch time had.

Sadly, many pubs in the Cotswolds have forgotten the simple, effective formula of good food and drinks, good service and good value. The Sherborne Arms lies on the edge of the charming village of Aldsworth and is well worth a visit. The beer is kept well and a reasonable selection of cask and keg is on offer. The menu is nicely balanced and has something for everyone including gluten free/ vegetarian and vegan. The staff are welcoming and will assist in menu choices (if required). Stopped at this pub yesterday with my walking group after a 6.5-mile walk around Coln-St.-Aldwyns and Bibury. Had a lovely roast beef joint for my first course. As a few of us had ordered this we were all given generous portions of vegetables for sharing. Rather strange choice for dessert but I ordered a lemon cheesecake and custard which again was very tasty. Service was quick and efficient. We sat in a back room as we held our Annual General Meeting after we had eaten. We were served by a very friendly waitress with a good sense of humour. This pub was very busy yesterday, it being Sunday and I would recommend anyone wanting to eat here at weekends to book a table in advance to guarantee getting a meal.

After a walk around Bibury, we wanted somewhere that welcomed dogs, which this pub did. Very quick friendly service with a nice roaring fire, but the food was a bit basic.

Good position on the main road. It's a lovely old building with a nice beer garden at the front. The menu has a nice selection with varied specials and some good offers. Everything is solid, decent value but unspectacular. You won't go wrong, though there are better pubs in Bibury, Coln St Aldwyns and Northleach. However, these are much more expensive and out of the way if you're in the area or passing through.

Meeting a girlfriend at The Sherborne Arms, Aldsworth as a good half way point, on the whole we enjoyed our evening there, for a long overdue catch up. The glass of Pinot Grigio was very good and nicely chilled and we each had a small bottle of water. Our order was taken promptly from a smiling waitress. Retro seventies hits playing softly, so that we could hear ourselves talk, which we were pleased about. It was warm (on a chilly night) and it was all very clean. A quiet night, but a pleasant atmosphere. The food left a little to be desired however. I ordered chicken goujons (there are two different dishes on the menu and I was brought the wrong one - the waitress did offer to change it when she realised, but I said it was okay I would eat it). Effectively, they were cheap chicken nuggets, made from processed meat - I was not expecting that. The salad garnish was nice and fresh. My friend had deep-fried calamari and they were as tasteless as they come. We both had the sirloin steak and paid extra for the sauce. The steak was not the best quality, (quite chewy, with no juice and little flavour - but the sauce was synthetic tasting and floury! Once we'd sampled it, we each left it in the jug. The fries were okay, but guessing that they were bought in frozen. We didn't have a dessert. When the bill came for £58, we were taken aback. We would have been happy to pay this for better quality food, but this seemed steep for what we ate and drank. We paid without complaining, as the reason for meeting was not about the food. I am just left feeling that I wouldn't rush back there and we will go elsewhere next time, as there is plenty of choice to suit us, between Burford and Cirencester.

This is, and has been a well run family pub for many years, offering excellent value for money food and beer. If you think it is expensive, that is because where you live is cheaper. In this area you can from extortionate to above average, just like the property. But if you want above average quality, in excellent surroundings, at a competitive Cotswold price, look no further.Mr and Mrs Head Honcho are on holiday, but the family looked after us very well today and the food and beer, as always were top class. There is never a drop in standards.Sometimes people mistake the pub with the same for this ne in Aldsworth. That's because they are idiots, and do not set their sat nav correctly. Look at the map and it is quite clear.

This place is set in a beautiful area. It was warm and welcoming, with a well stocked bar and a varied menu of traditional English dishes and other more exotic fare. The prices were reasonable for the area, the service swift and with a smile and the quality of the ingredients used were first class. Wouldn't hesitate to recommend to anyone visiting the area.

Arrived home starving after a business trip to find the fridge had no wine and little food. Off to my local. The 'Sherbie'. A hearty meal and a couple glasses of Prosecco later all was well. Fresh cod and chips did the trick. Sadly our lovely local gets confused on this site with the same pub name in Northleach, a few miles away. A shame because our pub is a delight and suffers from poor reviews which are meant for the other pub!

The Sherbourne Arms could be a fabulous drinking and eating establishment BUT would require huge investment and significant upgrade, which in my opinion is well over dueWell over £5 for a pint and small diet coke also left a bitter taste in my mouth, that was after I looked at the cloudy beer they were serving so opted for a lager Bar staff were lovely but the place lacks organisation, management and professionalismThis place could be a gem and a real gold mine if 'the owner' gave half a tossFingers crossed for the future - I really wanted to love this pub - but have to leave a cautionary tale :-(

Just stopped off here today for a drink. The landlord was very welcoming and friendly. The interior of the pub was clean and well presented. We ordered our drinks and sat outside in the beer garden. Lovely place, well kept and clean, wine was good. Will be calling again to try the food. Fantastic to find such a lovely place!

Dropped in on the way back to the caravan at Burford and we were very impressed. It is dog friendly. The host was really friendly and very helpful. My wife had the bibury trout and I had the deep fried cod. Both meals were excellent and reasonably priced. I would recommend this place to all. The only downside was we were leaving the next day so couldn't return but we will next time we are down this way.

Nice pub food average and over priced. I had chicken and bacon caesar salad which consisted of pieces of chicken and bacon tossed in caesar dressing with lettuce and a few shavings of parmasan. Not my idea of a salad overpriced at £10.95, my husband had ribeye steak which was gristly and dry. Would not go back.

We popped in after a lovely walk along the footpaths round the village; we wanted to get away from the very busy Bibury and Bourton! We were not disappointed; the walk was lovely. The pub also; both members of staff were cheerful and friendly; we had chicken Caeser salad, with freshly cooked croutons (please go lighter on the dressing, or serve it separately!) The coffee was also delicious.

I had phoned ahead and booked a table in the bar area which had been a good choice. The four of us often lunch in Cotswold pubs and this is now up there in our top ten. Nice cosy friendly pub with a very good menu, well prepared and tasty food at reasonable prices. We all had different selections from the menu and everyone really enjoyed the food and we highly recommend it. A wider choice of real ale would of been welcome but Abbot and Speckled Hen are both very drinkable.

Growing up in Aldsworth, have been here numerous times throughout the years. The food is very reasonable for the Cotswolds, large portion sizes and friendly and efficient staff. The menu is relatively restricted but have never had a bad meal. Local produce such as Bibury trout are served as well as quality roasts such as the Sirloin Roast Beef. Highly recommend this pub which sits far above most of the over priced Cotswold pubs.

Excellent luncheon at this immaculate Inn in Aldsworth. The Sherborne Arms is set quietly on the B4452 between Burford and Bibury. Pleasant gardens and outside tables. The food is very good and home made with a surprisingly extensive and realistically priced wine list.Certainly worth a detour.

Careful that you dont get confused (as we did) with the Sherborne Arms in Northleach to avoid any embarrassing booking mixups. This pub on the B4425 has a large car park and serves good quality beer at reasonable prices (the Cotteswolds can be pricey!) The fixed price menu was perfectly good for our needs - in fact rather tastey - so all four of us were well pleased. We couldn't fault the service and friendly atmosphere - they even provided a mat for the door in front of the log fire - thank you.Well worth a visit but don't expect to be able to walk here at night - a car is the best, safe, option.

Visited for a drink and an evening meal whilst staying in the area for a few days.Had checked before arrival that this lovely little pub was dog friendly, however on arrival our pooch was thoroughly spoilt as the landlord brought out a special mat for him to lay on right in front of the roaring log fire...dog did not want to leave this place.Food and service both excellent and good value for the 'Special' two course deals.Well worth a visit!!

A little gem and worth the drive! Our party enjoyed burgers, steak and a chicken/leek pie all of which was served hot and in plentiful portions. The steak was excellent with the stilton topping. The cask ales were well kept/presented and the toilets have just received a lick of paint! Highly recommended.

Me and my girlfriend cycled from Witney to the Sherbourne Arms to meet her family, for lunch. Being cyclists riding in winter, we were both fully laden with clothes! The landlord was very welcoming, and tabled us in front of the window where we could see our locked (very expensive) bikes. The menu was good, not too many choices, but all looked very tempting. I can very much recommend the Bibury trout, farmed just 3 miles down the road - you can't get much fresher than that! The waitress servicing us was very pleasant and thorough. I can thoroughly recommend this for couples, families and parties. It's is very pleasant in decor. We shall definitely return to eat again!

On our way to Bibury and saw a small sign for this pub, which was situated just down the road. Time was nearly 1-45 so we thought we might only have time to have a drink, but no,Landlord welcomed us and was quite happy to serve us food, and what a menu! One had Bibury trout, one for Sea Bass, one for Lasagne, and one for Spinach Raviolli. All served together, and we all agreed truly scrumptious. This pub is a little gem, quirky and delightful old fashioned pictures of scantily clad ladies in the gents, and gents in the Ladies, and all in all a very tidy pub.We have not found a poor eatery in the Cotswolds yet,and this is no exception, with the food, all agreed cooked to perfection.

The bread and cakes from here are epic - really good Croissant and the Sourdough is top class - can perch indoors if you are lucky or sit outside on some rather flimsy folding chairs, either way teh coffee is very good and even better with a bun! Quality of product is the main attraction, its not a large enterprise like some of the other places nearby. Worth finding.

The cafe is very basic which is fine, however, the prices are too high. Two coffees over nine pounds. We did have oat milk instead of cows and one was decaf but even so that’s the most we have been charged for two medium sized coffees anywhere in the UK. There was even a 10% service charge added to the bill which again was a first for us in a cafe. Staff were very nice but we won’t return. There is a limit to how much we want to pay for coffee. It’s not £9+.

We nipped in for a quick drink, the orange wine was delicious and the place has a nice atmosphere. We had some little snacks whilst visiting.

The guy who works here is rude and condescending. Dare you not be a perfect coffee expert and ask for advice on which drink to choose.
