You can’t swap ingredients and not tell the customer before you do this. Someone could have a food allergy. You then don’t just take off the tomatoes and leave ruminants of them in the sandwich and stuck let to the bottom. If you advertise something and you don’t have it, that is absolutely fine, you only have to tell the customer and give them the choice. Don’t recycle the food to save money when they identify an issue with ingredient’s, this does not solve the issue, or possible contamination issue. No doubt you are a great little place, but food safety issues like this are not good.

My friends and I regularly come for coffee and cake here. It is lovely with friendly staff, great coffee and yummy cakes! I particularly like the yoghurt topped flapjack!

Really delicious food and loads of choice for vegans. Nice location, nice vibes and really lovely staff. Highly recommend.

Usually stop at The Shed with a walking group, though to say we are welcomed with open arms would be an exaggeration! My coffee was good but my friend’s was cold but it had come so much later than her scone that she was reluctant to take it back. My real gripe is the 20% tip that was added to my credit card bill without my knowledge. No receipt and the card reader so small that I would be surprised if anyone would be able to check. I am aware that the American norm of tipping is slowly taking over here but this has left me feeling that I have been deceived. I won’t be returning and suggest people pay by cash when any tip you feel is deserved can be left at your discretion.

The best coffee shop in the area by far!!! We stopped off on our way back to our holiday home. Delícious hot chocolate and cakes!! My husband loved the latte too! They serve lots of options and are really friendly. Plus very child and dog friendly 😁 thank you @theShed!

Great cafe with amazing scones. We have called a few timrs to the shed and had sandwiches and scones. Great coffee also It is great especially if the weather allows you to sit outside. Staff are always friendly and helpful.

What a lovely little cafe that we stumbled upon. Lovely food and drinks and friendly staff. Good selection of sandwiches and brunch options, delicious avocado roasted tomatoes and feta on sourdough!

I have been to the Shed for lunch with my Mum a few times over the past couple of months and each time it has been excellent. Really tasty cafe food, superb service (quick and very friendly) and a really comfortable place to sit.

Ordered a cheese and caramelised onion toastie and an eggs Benedict. All freshly prepared large portions and tasted really good. The toastie in particular was excellent, lovely thick bread and an abundance of filling. Lovely staff, all very attentive and helpful. Will visit again.

Had a tasty bacon sandwich with my mum and enjoyed my Amercano in a cup (instead of a paper takeaway one due to covid restrictions) in the sunshine. Service was efficient and quick. Definitely recommend to friends and family.

This was my first chance to eat out after our latest lockdown. What a bad choice this was. I had seen this premises before but had never eaten there. I’m afraid I cannot think of one positive comment to leave after having had lunch there with my family. The rolls we had were utterly tasteless. The roll itself was lifeless and verging on being stale. I think it was described as a ciabatta roll. It was just a round doughy standard mass produced supermarket roll. There is so much that can be done to make bread as tasty a part of a meal as the filling itself, but do not expect to find any tasty bread here. The premium price charged for the roll led me to believe that I would receive something special. Sadly it was expensive and extremely ordinary. I don’t know if something had gone wrong at the premises during my visit but I heard that someone had been overcharged and were receiving a refund and another person was trying to cancel his order due to the time he had to wait. It was all rather shambolic. I have no axe to grind with this premises but I was left feeling that I had been served below standard food at premium prices. This is not fair.

It has been really great to see the Shed back in operation and with the lovely sunny weather, its been so enjoyable to sit out and chat with friends, with great coffee, great service and good food - the cheese scones are brilliant but you have to be quick because they go fast - plenty of other goodies though.

Have lived in the area for over a year now but had never been here. Stumbled upon it and decided to have a coffee as they have lots of outside seating and it was a sunny day. So glad we ended up here as the coffee is lovely and the food looks great(will be back to try asap!). Social distancing measures are in place and the staff are constantly cleaning so we felt totally safe. The best thing about the cafe is the staff who are so friendly and welcoming. The lady who served me brought over some water for me whilst I was breastfeeding my baby which was really kind and made me feel relaxed about feeding in public so thank you so much. Can’t wait to return!

Great little place off the Main Street in the gardens next to the river.Lovely fresh scones. Didn’t have clotted cream unfortunately - but it is winter so not so much call for it. Really friendly people running it. A little gem.They even have couches for the longer lazy stay :)

Have been to The Shed on many occasions. Pretty good coffee and food with a nice location away from the noise of the high street. However, on my most recent visit the coffee tasted very bitter so I (discretely) mentioned it to one of the staff. My experience has been that on the few occasions I do make complaints in restaurants, usually they are keen to 'make it right'. However, this time the staff member was somewhat curt and made me feel uncomfortable about raising the issue, although she did replace my coffee. Just a detail which has put me off going back since.

Great place to recharge - we did on Lands End to John O'Groats and after a day in the rain we were happy again. Very friendly staff. Cake was great.

This is a place not to be missed. In a great location by the river. Great friendly and helpful staff. An excellent, delicious and well priced menu add to the experience. Don't be fooled by the outside appearances especially the metal covered side doors - this is so far from the normal 'chain' coffee shops that it is a joy to visit. A range of different seating both inside and out. Good disabled access as well as toilet and baby changing facilities. It is popular both with the young and older. You really should give this a go - the sort of place that you wish every town had. I think you will go back again and again. Oh, forgot to say - great coffee!

The ambience of The Shed is very calming. The staff are cheery and attentive and very pleasant. A very good pot of tea and lovely flapjack. I have not eaten lunch, maybe on my next visit to Taunton This is truly a tranquil oasis and is just behind Debenhams in the gardens.

Lovely informal atmosphere in a pretty spot by the river. It's very popular but we've never had any difficulty finding a seat. Great for meeting with friends for coffee, or a break from shopping.

Pleased that this spot was recommended as would not have stumbled across it - can’t be spotted from the main road although very central. Coffee was delicious and costumer service efficient and friendly. Will definitely visit again!

Called in here before taking my niece to paint pottery for her birthday. She had a bacon sandwich and a milkshake and I had toast and marmalade and a decent cup of de-caf. Her sandwich was thick-cut, and she had a choice of red or brown sauce. My wholemeal was also thick-cut and tasty. All for around a tenner.

We often pop in here for a tea/coffee...and usually can't resist a piece of cake! Lovely friendly staff, always willing to have a chat if they're not too busy. They even have a supply of blankets to put over your knees if you wish to sit outside and feel the cold! Excellent selection of teas, really good coffee and always a cake that's far too tempting!

Just had a lovely lunch with friends. The tomato and basil soup was delicious followed by courgette and carrot cake- yum - and it was warm and cosy very welcome in all the snow.

I did really like this place as their coffee is good, but today a member of staff seemed to want me to leave as I had only ordered a coffee and they needed table space for people eating lunch. I am autistic and felt confused and unwelcome. Not going back.

The Sheds outlook is onto Goodland garden with outside seating which is great with kids the food is lovely and Homemade with lots off healthy choices

ive eaten here lots of times, I love the home made paninis and cakes, great choice and selection, including vegan. Fresh water to just help yourself to, they used to do little shot glasses of smarties when you had a hot drink which theyve stopped doing, it was cute and I love that when you have a pot of tea you get tea cozies its very retro and relaxed, I love it here

Popped in this little hidden gem this morning, I didn't have the time to sit in but ordered coffee and food to go! Best bacon sandwich I've had all year. Coffee was great and staff were happy, smiley and helpful. I Walked out of there with a smile on my face! I'm looking forward to going back and enjoying sitting in.

Really friendly staff. They are very professional. The food is delicious, coffee superb. I have had quite a few coffee breaks here and it's very pleasant to sit and listen to the mill steam running over the weir and people watch in Goodlands Gardens.

First visit after 2 years with an overseas friend. Food and coffee great. Shame about the extremely uptight and terse lady serving behind the counter. Only one person waiting in the queue apart from myself. I was shortchanged £10. Not full to capacity and spare tables were dirty and not cleared. Friend commentated on the 'sour faced woman behind the counter.' Interesting there is another posting about the terse member of staff....sure to be the same. Wish another coffee shop would open in Goodlands Gardens .

The Shed has a small menu of soup, sandwiches, wraps, paninis and very scurry looking cakes. Everything made fresh to order, nicely presented and very tasty. Lovely filter coffee too. This is a little cafe in a pleasant spot with friendly staff - if you want posh nosh then go elsewhere, but if a reasonably priced lunchtime bite is more your style the give The Shed a go.

Away for a weekend break with my wife, we had a walk around Tauton. Just over the bridge we saw this little cafe in a public gardens. Sun out we decided to have a few and coff e with a lovely scone. The staff are very friendly and helpful. This is very clean, loved it.

This used to be our favourite cafe in Taunton - until yesterday. It still has the lovely setting beside the river and comfortable seating which we like. However a worse pot of tea I don't think I've ever had. What happened to the lovely tasting tea in large pots accompanied by treats of Smarties. All gone. In their place there is insipid tasteless tea which was neither hot nor anything like tea. Gone are the large pots and tea cosies. And the new prices - come on. £1.90 for a rubbish pot of tea. No thanks. When something works don't change it. Alas we'll be looking for a new favourite cafe. Shame.

This place could be wonderful but it just isn’t? Definitely lacking atmosphere. Food choices lacking something, and expensive for what it is.

It si a small locale but socianble staff and personnel. In this area, it is confined inside but always busy with customers. However when the sun is shining outside there are tables and chairs for a time of rest as well as amicable restoration.

Met up there for a semi business met and the staff are great as is the coffee and CAKE... The answer is in cake!

The best part of our visit was definitely the setting. Food nice and cooked fresh but found staff very rude especially when wrong item brought to table, made to feel it was our fault by a very terse lady certainly won't be returning.

Took my friends there for a nice cuppa and light lunch. The staff were extremely rude and i got the feeling they didn't want to be there. The food was average and to be honest probably quite soured by the staff. It was a Saturday afternoon and the place was quite busy, but the staff should be able to switch on their customer service skills. I would go somewhere else with better service.

Walking around Taunton it was lovely to find a small café out of the hustle and bustle of the town. It is tastefully but comfortably decorated and the choice of music whilst we were there was nice and calming. The menu is not extensive but it is all freshly prepared and well presented. We had the humus and carrot wrap which was very tasty. There is a large number of teas and coffees to choose from. All staff were very friendly and it was a very pleasant way to spend a lunch time. We will definitely return.

Good choice of sandwiches and Panini's and homemade cakes. Hopefully they will have a few more tables outside in the summer. In the past 2 week I have been here twice during my lunch break and it was lovely sitting outside with my coffee/ tea and cake plus the added bonus of a shot glass with Smarties in! I am still unsure about the smoking situation. While some tables show 'no smoking' others do not, plus is 'vaping' allowed. Certainly that was happening at one of the tables with the resultant cloud of vapour. It would be good if that could be made clear. Outside of that good food and friendly staff - I will certainly spend more lunchbreaks here.

i think i may have reviewed this last year - anyway this time i returned with my dog and sat outside as i dont think its hygienic having dogs near food - they bought a biscuit out for the dog and heh the coffee was excellent - hot, and served with old milk bottle filled with hot milk and a glass of smarties - what a brilliant touch - made the coffee stop that more enjoyable - its such a find this cafe in the bustling centre of town but peacefull as in a riverside park just behind debenhams and tauntons excellent museum

Popped in for coffee and a bacon 'buttie' this morning. What a great little place in a great location. Apparently it used to be a toilet block and was converted into little coffee house. A random selection of furniture adds to the look and feel of the place. I agree that the menu is pretty limited but given the size of the place I can understand why. My daughters tea was served in a pot with a knitted cosy, my coffee was very nice and both drinks served with a shot glass of smarties!The experience was completed with Fleetwood Mac playing in the background, definitely will return.

Tucked behind Debenhams, this is the perfect place for a coffee, light lunch or cup of tea. Child friendly, comfy, unstuffy, it's just a lovely place to catch up with friends and have something to eat.

Good coffee and freshly baked scones. Nice selection of light meals and snacks. Found one staff member particularly unsmiling and surly - second time. Overheard next table commenting the same. Needs to improve attitude young lady - too much competion around. Personally, I'll make the journey to my usual haunt next time where the staff (similiary aged) are more welcoming and smiling

Been here a couple of times. The coffee is really nice and the atmosphere is lovely if you don't mind the yummy mummy crowd. The meals are very average. Was served severely overcooked bacon recently. I couldn't even get my teeth through it. Would only go back for a coffee.

A hidden gem in Taunton. Basic lovely food. Small menu, but cheap and the perfect place to meet a friend for coffee and cake. In a town full of chains I choose The Shed every time. It's transformed the area of Goodlands Gardens into a lovely spot to spend time. Yummy cakes a great coffee.

Tucked away behind Debenhams on the edge of a riverside park is a fun, buzzy local health food cafe. We enjoyed the freshly made Goats cheese Panini and excellent coffee. Very popular with mums and babies. Recommended.

We were visiting friends who live near taunton and they took us into the town for the day and suggested lunch at the shed. It is not easy to find being behind debenhams store. It has well disguised the building's original use and is now a very pleasant cafe with an open space out side to the river. We had paninis, wraps and the soup between us, coffees and cold drinks and cakes and all were really decent, i would say that the stand out items were the cappucino and the yogurt covered flapjack. The sandwiches come with crisps and a small salad and the coffees with a shot glass of smarties which is a novel twist. There were a couple of things wrong with the orders when they came but they were quickly put right. The price of the sandwiches are a bit on the high side at around £6 but the cofees and cakes more average prices.This is definitely one to recommend.

I was recommended this place by a friend as an alternative to all the chain cafes that dominate Taunton high street. Located just behind Debenhams, you wouldn't find it by chance. When my son and I arrived, it was a sunny but blustery Saturday afternoon at around 3.30pm. They were just serving teas, cakes and Paninis. We ordered a Panini each and a refreshing rhubarb and elderflower presse. The atmosphere was delightful, scrubbed wooden benches and colourful cushions. The Beatles and Bob Marley playing on the stereo. The Paninis were huge and we ended up taking out the other half in a doggy bag. Would go back again.

Visited Taunton on a busy shopping day-looking for somewhere to eat and discovered this little place right by the river in the middle of town. Pleasantly surprised by the variety of food and coffee offered. An ideal stop for us ! Will go there on next visit !

Lovely Shed people - where was the usual warm welcome today, which usually matches the excellence of the coffees and food. Obviously very busy - which is good! - but definitely a harrassed atmosphere mid-morning, with some sharp words - and a cold shoulder for me (rather than an apology) when I politely enquired how much longer before I got my very delayed coffee. Still, I shall be back, as we all get our off days! And I do like the idea of your Gift Vouchers - so shall be buying them up for friends once I know things are back to cheerful normality.

Cosy cafe in a quiet location with nice views and reasonably priced food and drinks. Staff were friendly and helpful. Wifi signal was good - perfect place to work for a morning!

A very nice light lunch sat in the sun outside The Shed. 3 of us sat down to a couple of paninis and soup of the way. Reports back from the panini eaters were good, although hubby would have appreciated more roasted vegetables and son would have liked more chicken, sesame seeds were a nice change. Soup was ok, spinach, kale and chickpea, not mind blowing but filling and hot. Drinks were good, loved being able to have a proper mug of tea and enjoyed the sweeties that came with it. At around £25 for 3 people I certainly wouldn't call it cheap, or even particularly good value but it's good to support a local business instead of a big chain.

taunton mainly seems to have boring chain coffee shops so nice to find this independent one behind debenhams which was converted from an old public toilet.this has a good location facing towards the river tone - i like the way they bring the coffee to your table as less chance of it going cold while you find a seat

Mid morning with the wife, we popped into this little gem of a cafe come tearoom.All the food or cakes was freshly made with catering for vegans as well.Loved the tea,coffee and the cute owl tea cozies,served with a small kind gesture of a shot glass with a few smarties inside.Personally, I had the blackberry flapjack with yoghurt icing,of which was divine.Would I return, without doubt.Beautiful.

I visit the shed regularly, it is so much more inviting than the bland high street chains. Tea is served in lovely teapots with a cute tea cosy. The cheese and chutney toasted sandwich is really nice, the chutney is the best I've had. Gluten free bread available. The service is always pleasant and efficient.

Put down your shopping bags, get out a book and have a supreme coffee and just chill. Adjacent to the river within a large sun trapped open space, the geo-location on my iPhone didn't place it exactly but I found it eventually thanks to a board on the main street. Great range of cakes and nibbles, we will revisit this family run business when ever we're in Taunton. Highly recommend The Shed. Lovely location, bright ambience. Happy place.

You might miss this place if you're not familiar with the town but it's at the Debenhams end of Town.

This is a wonderful cafe converted from the old toilet block. The coffees, light bites and cakes are great. The coffee is nice and strong and you get a shot glass full of Smaties as a treat! Warm and friendly with great location in Goodlands Gardens-I will be using this place over any other coffee shop in Taunton in the future.

This was my third visit, this time without kids. Great homemade soup, again. Cosy and friendly, it is a great addition to Taunton town centre and a reliable go to place for great coffee. In an age of flat whites proliferating because other coffee retailers have forgotten how to make good coffee, it's great to get a top drawer cappuccino. All is not lost coffee 'appreciators'.

Well worth stopping for coffee - from the lovely tea cosys to the little shots of smarties! It felt like we were on holiday at the seaside!!
