Lovely child free evening, live music in the background, absolutely loved the Allerford chicken, hubby had the steak would definitely recommend paying the Allerford Inn a visit.

We came for a family party and it was lovely. Great quality food. Really helpful staff. We came for lunch and ended up staying for dinner as well. The decking outside needs some attention, but it didn't case us any problems. Thank you!

Wow. Outstanding carvery. So much fresh food. Atmosphere was incredible. Just a buzz about the place. The cleanliness of all areas was amazing. The new landlord and landlady are so friendly, bringing a real family vibe to this place. Highly recommend. Will be returning soon. Even booked the works Christmas party here, after seeing all the wonderful entertainment they have put in place.

1st visit to the Alderford for sometime i have to admit but I'm glad I went . Had a Sunday carvery and it was lush really enjoyed it. Had banoffee waffle for pudding and it didn't dissapoint at all. Lovely atmosphere, polite staff ample parking. Prices were very reasonable too. Gonna be my new go to place for a Sunday carvery , next to try out mid week menu 😋. Dogs also allowed i think In certain parts for anyone wishing to take their's with them. New management well done 👏

Originally we booked a table for 4 at the Merry Monkton Elm for a Sunday carvery, got there and NO booking was made under our name, I was fuming I tell you 😡 as would anybody would be. We then decided to go to the Alleford Inn Nr Norton fitzwarren, the car park was full, we thought they may will turn us away, but no they made space for us nothing was a problem. I am a little dubious with beef but what a succulent tasty flavoursome joint and I could pull the beef with my fork it was that soft it melted in in my mouth as was the pork and turkey, very impressed, I had to thank the chief personally along with the owners and staff, lovely bunch, very welcoming, staff have happy 😊 so the atmosphere feels like a nice family dinning room. We had 2 adults and 1 child's carvery, chicken nuggets, chips and veg, 1 pint of larger, one glass of wine, pepsi, j2o and the bill came to £60 the Merry Monkton was more expensive with no wine. Speaking to the new owners about their vision and plan's because it is a very spacious place and what they have planned for the summer of 2025 we locals and visitors alike will all have a lot to go to and alot of family days are planned, they also have bands on Fri/Saturday nights, you will need to check, but yes we will Definitely be returning next week for our treat 😊 thanks guy's it was blinking beautiful 🤗😁

Great Carvery, Well worth a visit.

Absolutely lovely atmosphere, very friendly helpfull staff. Me+my guy enjoyed an absolutely delicious carvery after booking a table very last minute, that morning. Best carvery we've had in a long time.

My daughter chose the Allerford as her venue for her wedding reception . The manager at the Allerford is absolutely amazing . A very charming helpful man. If it wasn’t for him I probably would have rated a one star. On decorating the venue the night before a family member had to go out in the beer garden to mend all the poorly maintained benches. They had dangerous thick screws sticking out on the seating area, the decking was raising up and was a trip hazard. An hour after arriving back to the Allerford while photos were being taken we were told by the chef that the wedding cake was slanting and will only last about half an hour. ( on contacting our fantastic cake lady whom we have never faulted throughout all the cakes she has made for us, she did mention there was a stain on the table cloth , they did not change it. But she thinks they may have after she left) The cake was not moved and still standing two hours after the bride and groom rushing to cut it !! we ordered enough food for 120 but we had under 90 guests and the food ran out before the last one . The chocolate fountain did not have enough chocolate to run adequately . The Allerford was not busy at all but the staff didn’t make any attempt to clear plates , the tables were still full after 10.30. We have always loved the Allerford but it pains me to say they did let us down this time. I know establishments have struggled but putting a drill to garden furniture cost nothing . We had paid more than enough for food and the takings were good at the bar. It’s just a shame the staff were not more attentive ( exception of the lovely manager)

Well what can I say, had a fantastic evening and meal here tonight with friends, staff were very friendly and attentive, the food was amazing, very well presented and enjoyed by us all. We will defently be back. We would recommend visiting and enjoy such lovely food and very welcoming staff.and great value for money.

Visited when we were in the area for a few days. Dogs are welcome and we had ours with us. We sat inside. Had two mains, two desserts and two drinks (1 alcoholic) for £54. Nice welcome, server was attentive and friendly, wasn't v busy but was a random weeknight. Food was decent. Had a nice outside area and lots of parking.

Been wanting to try this place for a while as we pass it frequently. Really nice pub and friendly staff. The food is really good, proper home cooking. I had the Allerford Chicken which was delicious and my fiancé really enjoyed his burger! (Only feedback was I wish my meal was on a plate not in a bowl, but just personal preference) But overall very tasty food and looking forward to coming back, thank you!

We came here for lunch as my husband had the day off. So pleased we did. We were welcomed by a lovely young man. We chose to sit outside. We were given our menus to browse. The food was absolutely delicious. Very good value with great service. We will definitely be returning.

Our evening had fantastic food and service, we loved the starters, but the mains, wow, they were amazing, only issue we had was that we were too full to try dessert!

Went for Sunday lunch here. A really good meal and plenty of it. They have a good space outside as well so on a good day there's room for the family to have a run around. It's quite out of the way which is great but a little bit of a trek. It is right next to a railway which generally isn't a problem. The staff are pleasant and good service. We would go again.

What a wonderful place to get ya chops dirty, food the absolutely perfect, massive portions and very well priced. All the staff there are amazing and carry smiles on their fresh clean young faces 😊. All that needs to be added is a trampoline for the kids. Absolutely love this pub and the people in it. 5* all day long

On Wednesday 22/05/24 we booked the Allerford Inn for a ‘wake’ following a family funeral. We booked for40 guests and chose the £14 per head buffet menu. We arrived at around 2.15pm and the buffet was put out for our guests shortly afterwards. The standard of the buffet was excellent, with an excellent variety of items, including open sandwiches, meats, roast potatoes, quiches, sausage rolls, pizzas, three different large cakes and an unlimited tea/coffee station. There was ample food for all of the guests. We were also given the function room until 6pm. The staff were very courteous, polite, friendly and professional. Nothing was too much trouble, this was shown when asked to provide additional orange/apple juice for our guests at short notice, as the weather was warmer than anticipated. Overall, our experience was all that we as a family had hoped, The Allerford Inn provided an excellent service and the food was first class. Thank you for making a very difficult day that much more bearable.

Amazing service. Went to the bar once and the guy remembered what I'd had on the second visit. Beautiful carvery, very generous with the meat and a great selection of vegetables!!

Lovely family celebration meal. Fairly small but interesting menu, with several good vegetarian and vegan options for us, and better than the usual pub fodder. Waiting staff very friendly and attentive. Good value and pleasant surroundings. There is a large outside area and carpark too.

Sunday lunch here. We've been before and it continues to provide an excellent Sunday carvery. I was determined to manage a pudding today, but the meat and fabulous range of vegetables meant I was too stuffed. Next time 😄

Great low key gem of a pub. We have been meaning to try for some time. We finally did this week, and weren't disappointed. Friendly staff and varied nenu. We had Ham Ploughmans, which seems pretty rare on menus. Wow, what a feast. Superb carved ham, variety of pickles and salad. Great selection of sweets too. Highly recommended.

Lovely Sunday Roast with friends. Great location and atmosphere. Excellent value for money.

Would have been OK however due to an undercooked meal there were issues. We were at a large event with over 30 people where one was undercooked causing illness. This was returned and a promise of no charge was given. When it came to paying this was revoked and we were called liars. Everyone paid which is 30 odd people raking in over £1000 this is just very poor customer service would not recommend

just went for a birthday meal, my boyfriend's burger was raw and the bun was rock hard. bartender assured that the meal would be removed from our bill after showing her the burger was raw. spoke to the manager when it came to paying the bill and he said the burger was perfectly fine and that my mum and I were lying about the waitress/bartender telling the both of us that the meal would be deducted, despite it being two customers of a 32 person party against a singular person's word. left a very sour aftermath after what would have been a lovely 21st meal. in response to your unprofessional responses, I myself and my partner have both worked in the food industry for 5 years plus and it doesn't cease to amaze me your lack of professionalism. clearly you were never taught the phrase that the paying customer is always right, no matter your opinion on your own cooking. the reason for the similar views was for the shock of the way we were spoken to after being assured we wouldn't pay for the uncooked food. the other burgers were not enjoyed either, they just didn't make a complaint as 3/8 were children who did not finish their burgers, another was my mother in laws partner who said it was foul and also failed to eat it despite trying his best efforts to get through the rock solid bun and overcooked burger in his case, with a knife and fork. sadly he wasn't there by the time we highlighted the issue for the second time while you tried to suggest that the 10 people in front of you were incorrect. your severe lack of professionalism after our disagreement is only further highlighted in your childlike responses which you've just added for the world to see. safe to say the 32 paying customers who spent quite a fortune in your establishment tonight will not be returning nor recommending your establishment again, which I'm sure you'll find satisfactory behind your sad little screen but as someone who has been to your place of work before, I'm deeply saddened and disgusted by the way my perfectly good 21st meal was ruined by such a man as yourself.

Very good, the meals were beautiful, and the carvery selection of vegs was exceptional.was really very good.

Went for a meal with family burger came raw, waitress assured it would be deducted from the bill however upon paying manager refused to deduct cost despite it being over £500 bill total and called all witnesses to poor food liars, insisting nothing was wrong despite what was previously promised not impressed and felt worthless as a patron to thos establishment

Staff were rude and lied about how we would receive a discount for a raw burger then refused to remove the charge and called all of our party liars when they witnessed the poor quality of food provided, will not return

Have been in search of a great carvery in the Taunton area…found it! Allerford Inn delivers great food and service, packed car park is testimony to the demand.

We found this this morning and went for the carvery. We had not booked as we did not know what time we would get there. It was busy but the really friendly staff said that as long as we would be done by 13: 30 we could have a table. We all had the carvery including my daughter who had the veg only but there was so much choice that there was plenty for her as well as us. I have to say it was the best carvery we have ever had. So much to choose and all hot and fresh. We also shared a portion of biscof cheesecake which was delicious! All the staff were helpful and friendly. The toilets were really good too!!

Passing visit as from Oxford, rented a glamping hut nearby and went for a little drive, The food well exceeded our expectations, worth the visit for lunch /dinner.

Went for a Christmas meal with a group. The food was lovely and our server was very friendly and helpful. The gingerbread crème brûlée was really yummy!

We booked a table for a 21st birthday. On arrival, we were told where our table was and that someone would come to take our order. We waited and no one came so we went to the bar and ordered some drinks ourselves. We asked at the bar again and were told someone would come to take our order, again, no one came. We went to the bar a third time only to be told that the menu online is not available and that it’s a reduced menu on a Sunday. After a total of 40 minutes waiting for someone to come and serve us, we’d finished the drinks we got ourselves and decided to leave in search of the local Chinese takeaway. Not sure how this place has such a high score. The service is rubbish and the atmosphere is also extremely lacking.

Amazing: We went for a birthday meal and were very accommodating to our large group, great food, plenty of options on the carvery and very friendly staff.

Had a fantastic Sunday carvery here. Food was excellent.

First time I’ve been here for a few years and sadly I won’t be rushing to go back. Unfortunately the waiter didn’t seem to know much about the menu like what kind of pate it was and really didn’t show too much interest in his job. The menu had some interesting options I went for the rump steak medium rare, mistake it was over cooked and very tough with lots of sinew. I should have complained but it would have meant waiting for replacement while all the rest ate theirs not what I wanted. The prices were ok if the meals had been excellent but apparently their was trouble finding the meat in the pie, the sticky beef was only ok according to the two who had that and the fish pie was a case of hunt the prawn. With regards the prawns my wife said they were tasteless and having worked in the prawn industry for over 45 years there is a good reason for this and that’s cheap prawn’s with high glaze level defrosted in water instead of naturally. Sorry for the review I don’t normally write these but felt this was just not good enough.

WOW ... what a hidden treasure! Heard of this place and booking online was simple. Easy to find and plenty of parking. The place was stunning, plenty of room and relaxing atmosphere. The food was stunning and you certainly get so much for your money! Good quality food at such amazing prices. Quick and easy service! Highly recommended

I visited here last weekend and was really disappointed with the overall experience. As the weather was nice we chose to sit outside so the kids could play and we could have a later afternoon dinner. However the place was disgusting- There had been a BBQ event before hand and nothing had been cleared up; there were empty drink glasses and napkins scattered everywhere, deflated balloons on the grass and blowing into the fields opposite and the old BBQ food had just been left out on the buffet table outside, swarming with flies. For the hour and half duration that sat there, no staff came to clear it up. The food unfortunately was no better having waited for nearly 40 minutes for it to come. My partner returned hers and requested a refund, as it was not worth the money. I went for a Hawaian Pizza and was let down by how oily and tasteless it was. No staff came to offer any check backs to see how the food was either and in general seemed disinterested in serving customers, let alone clearing the mess outside. I feel like it could have been really nice if we went any other day and maybe sat inside, however from what experienced, we definitley won't be returning again.

Even though it was clean and presented well, my food was dry could have done with a sauce such as mushroom.

Booked for a Carvery and it's the best one I have ever had. Meat was cooked to perfection as were the potatoes veg and all the trimmings. Would highly recommend as well organised and no queuing

Not are normal eating destination but am very glad we give it a go, the food was amazing! Best carvery I have ever had!! We were a little disappointed that my wife had to wait almost 30 minutes for her hot chocolate but when we asked about it was they in a flash! These things happen unfortunately but it was soon put right! Will 100% be back!!

Lovely rual pub and well looked after. Attended for a private funtion. Food was really excellent. The people who worked there were nice, eager to help and attentive. Bar prices were similar with main high street pubs. Lovely setting and close proximity to the rail tracks allowed us to also watch old steam and regular trains go by. If you are spending time outside in their garden/deaking then suggest sensible foot wear. There is plenty of space for youngesters to run around as well. Plenty of parking.

Superb choice of food. The Sunday roast dinners come highly recommended. Great service and excellent, friendly staff. A must visit for all the family!

We were looking for Sunday Lunch and came across this inn. It was 14.00 on a Sunday and my partner is a diabetic and we needed to eat ASAP as he was feeling unwell with low blood sugar. I went to the bar and asked if they were still serving lunch and I needed to know quickly due to my partners condition. We we told yes and we waited to be given a table there was no one else waiting for a table but 3 people waiting to pay. We waited 30 mins by which time my partner was starting to need to sit down finally we were given a table and told to go up to the food. We did not know where to go and when we did my partner could only get 3 slices of turkey and a few carrot sticks before he needed to sit down. I explained he had only had this to the server at the time and they saw this. When I went to pay I explained this and was still charged £13 for 3 slices of meat and a few carrot sticks . My meal was so overcooked and burnt from the carvery I left most of mine. I will not be coming back anytime soon

Heard alot of good reviews on the carvery, so booked for 7 people today, was very disappointed, roast potatoes undercooked, stuffing was rock hard, vegetables were soggy. Not a good experience .

Sunday carvery has got to be one of the best around, have visited on many occasions and never disappoints. Friendly staff and an all round well run ship.

all 4 of us adults had the carvery and it was very nice, we all said that we would have a carvery at the Allerford again. My 4 year old grandson enjoyed his sausage,chips and beans and chocolate ice cream. The staff were polite and helpful.

Went for the carvery. Really well organised and managed. Enjoyed the bright, spacious room. Friendly and helpful staff even when incredibly busy and the no meat option for myself as a vegetarian was filling enough!

We went as a group of 8. All the main courses were cooked really well, nicely presented and reasonably priced (and very tasty). The sticky toffee pudding was not very good. A plain sponge, slightly dry, and drizzled with (not enough) toffee sauce. The service was good and the staff were very friendly and helpful. Would definitely go back there again.

What can I say the service was perfect, the food was to die for. The chef (Alex) is a great cook. Would highly recommend. I had the mega burger... Oh my days how amazing. Just make sure you are hungry before eating as this will fill you up big time.

Brilliant meal. Second time I've been here and found the whole experience pleasant. The staff are friendly and helpful. I messed up my Sunday lunch booking but they still accommodated me with a table. The ham egg and chips are very tasty and we're very generous portion. It tasted very fresh and good quality. I felt that I got really good value for money unlike some other local pubs where you feel a bit ripped off. Overall the pub is nicely decorated as well. We'll be coming back soon!

We were booked back into the Allerford Inn for my birthday, having been there many times now and really enjoyed the food and service. On arrival, we were warmly greeted at the bar and advised where our table was, and joy of joys it was the usual table (number 11). We sat down and it was only then that we noticed the staff had left us a welcome message and a bottle of bucks fizz on ice, what a lovely gesture. I did tell the staff that I appreciated this and that I don't drink any alcohol while driving (not even 4%) but we would take it home if they would allow and have it later. The meal was fantastic as usual, we had a lovely discussion with the chef about the various types of meat on offer (Beef, Pork and Turkey) and some good-natured banter, I do find the staff are really happy here and so easygoing. We collected the rest of the fresh veg and the Yorkshire puddings bigger than your fist and tucked in. Most delicious. We decided to go for broke on a special day and ordered a dessert, the white chocolate roulade is just amazing, light and fluffy and the raspberry sauce is quite tart. We highly recommend this. Thank you so much to everyone at the Allerford Inn, obviously, we will return (soon)

Love this place,so much that we had our wedding reception here afew years back. Staff are lovely and the food is amazing. I would definitely recommend giving this place a try,you won't regret it. They also do very yummy cheese cake. Plenty of parking. Large rear beer garden.

Went, for the fourth or fifth year, for Christmas lunch and were not disappointed. As soon as you walk in you feel at home because of the warmth and sincerity of Tom and his teams greeting and welcome. The food was splendid (as we have come to expect), the atmosphere lovely and the service from the team second to none. This place really is a gem and in the years we have been going there for Christmas and all other times, they have never missed a beat and are genuinely consistently friendly, helpful and accommodating. If you haven’t been, you really should try and visit, you will not be disappointed.
