The Shamrock Ipswich in Ipswich

Was quite a while ago now so not sure if changed hands but staff were awful. Shouted at my friend for “having her foot on the sofa” when she was cross legged and her shoes were nowhere near it. Then shouted again at her for not buying a drink which she was just about to after saying hi as we’d only just met up, me and my other friend had already purchased drinks, it wasn’t very busy but seemed like such a chore to serve us 2 very simple drinks in bottles. Haven’t been back since and probably never will

They do a lovely Guinness 😍👌. Really nice pub. We drove up from Billericay and stayed in easy hotel and this was nearest pub to meet up with friends. Felt welcome, nice atmosphere. Clean ladies toilets.

Do not come here to watch the six nations, they refused to put the Ireland game on due to man united playing. The bar maid was very condescending and refused to put the rugby on one tv despite there being several in the venue.

Good friendly bar, often has sports on and live music some nights.

Went here before a match. No kitchen so just crisps etc. but advised us we were welcome to bring in a takeout or whatever. Very friendly and accomodating staff. Plenty of TVs.

True Irish pub and yes they do the best Guinness in town which I happily consume most days very friendly and efficient staff love my beaten up old Chair straight out of father Ted! Lots of gigs and music going on but poorly advertised overall my favourite pub in Ipswich!!!

We called into this not very Irish pub for a drink after dinner. My partner had an awful pint of Guinness and my wine was every bit as bad. We decided to cut our losses and left most of our drinks in the glasses and left.

A massive thank you to the staff who looked after us all during the Ipswich Town FC promotion game on the big screens. They worked tirelessly & we’re totally unfazed by the raucous crowd, laughing and joking through out. You guys made it a special occasion for us all!! Well done.

Nice place to have a drink at night, they also had a live ban. Got so close, I thought I was apart of their music. Would definitely come back. Did not have the food, so 1 star as I cannot give N/A.

Good pub in the centre of town. The staff were friendly and on the ball. Comfortable atmosphere and because of the wonderful seating at the bar a great place for a beer and a little chat. If you want the barmaids full attention bring a puppy with you 🙂🐕

My new favourite place, Gus and the staff are always chatting to customers and listening. Always a great atmosphere any walk of life can go in and it's basically for everyone and anyone. Met some good people in the shamrock recently and every time I go there I don't wanna leave haha

New management. Always was great Irish themed pub but getting even better as they asked me about what ales I think would go down well. The guys are intending to stock a better selection of ales and bitters than the previous total of ONE. Being Maltsmith I.P.A.

A lovely little pub with a large range of beers, great friendly staff and atmosphere, with a lovely small courtyard garden area. I would recommend a visit.

Traditional Irish pub in Ipswich? THE SHAMROCK! This pub has it all! Bar staff are lovely welcoming and informative. The beer is always at its finest & the Guinness is the best in all of Ipswich! They often have live bands on and always seem to pick good ones! If you want a real pub with top quality drinks and superb entertainment you will find no better than The Shamrock.

Nice friendly pub with friendly bar staff with some great live music on some Friday and Saturday nights. Drinks are a little more expensive than other venues near by.

We were lucky enough to stumble across the Shamrock pub last Saturday as 7 of us where up in Ipswich for the Ipswich v Portsmouth game (Portsmouth fans). We visited the pub for a few drinks before kick off, and it was amazingly priced and the service was very speedy. After the game we went back and watched the England v Ireland rugby. The pub was full of great characters, the staff were amazing, so friendly. They even gave away free help yourself Irish stew which was hugely appreciated. My friend had his 7 year old son with him, and they gave him a lollipop and all spoke with him. Really made us feel welcome. I will certainly be visiting the Shamrock again and want to say thank you to the landlord, staff and the other customers for being so warm, welcoming and friendly. I hope the pub continues to thrive and I look forward to visiting again soon. Thank you again!

You cannot help but love this place, ideally situated in the town centre of town with friendly staff and good selection of drinks. Asked if they do food but they don't, staff were so accommodating though and said if we got takeaway we were welcome to eat it there. Irish music on in the background, nicely decorated and friendly clientele. Deserves to do well.

The Shamrock is a proper pub, so friendly and comfortable. The drinks are well kept and at decent prices, Tony and Teresa certainly know how to make you welcome.

Nice little place. The Irish music nearly drove me nuts buts that's my own fault for going to an Irish bar. Service was good, prices were more than reasonable.

A great atmosphere. Friendly, efficient bar staff, especially Suzi who was on her own when we visited, she served everyone, was smiling and chatty and kept everyone happy. Everyone was enjoying the music and the comfortable surroundings. The live music events are well worth going to too.

Happened to chance on some live music at this very establishment on a Sunday evening after watching football at another pub near by. We were pleasantly surprised to see such a lively place on a Sunday evening in Ipswich (Ipswich generally closes on a Sunday afternoon!). Turned what we thought would be a quiet evening out into a cracking evening.
