A great cafe with amazing cakes, light lunch and coffee. In desperate desperate need of atmosphere though. Very quiet even when full and could be transformed by so quiet music or something to create a buzz as it’s still verging on an old fashioned tea room.

First time visiting Bradford on Avon. Place was cold asked if they could put heating on as it was cold and told it had gone off. Both my sister and I were served cold food her chilli and my soup which had to be reheated. £23 for a poor lunch. Would not recommend.

We came across to the Shambles after being rudely treated for not a wearing a mask - we are both exempt - by the owner of Gilou's opposite. What a contrast! Smiling welcome, first-rate service and excellent coffee (cappuccino) and hot chocolate. This will now be our coffee stop of choice when we visit Bradford on Avon

Couldn't have asked for more. There were about 20 of us and the staff couldn't have done more to make us feel welcome and well catered for. The variety of sandwiches were delicious, even down to the bread and the ham was reported by all present to be amongst the best, if not the best, they had ever had. The cakes that followed were delicious, including a lemon drizzle and Victoria Sponge and the only problem encountered was that everyone was so full and satisfied they thought they might not have room for a later evening meal! It is great to see this little coffee shop under new management, focusing on quality, taste and good service. Our group ranged from the young to the old and everyone was extremely well catered for, including several special requests. An excellent experience and we will be back.

My family and I stumbled across this cafe and what a little gem it is. Wonderful and very reasonably priced HOMEMADE food. We had the goats cheese and tart from the specials board and I wish I’d bought a slice to take home! They were extremely accommodating with my fussy 2 year old son which is always a bonus, and I will absolutely be back again. To say that the new owners had only opened 2 weeks again was a complete surprise. Good luck to them as they really have created a really cozy and friendly cafe.

We were guests at an important family & friends anniversary. On arrival we were met at the door by a lovely member of staff with a big smile and welcome, coats taken and drinks offered. The staff were very friendly and efficient and deserve full marks for their work and attention to detail. At no time over the 3 hours did we need to ask for glasses to be filled or nibbles to be delivered. It was all there at your elbow throughout the session. The nibbles - an assortment of hot items were delicious.Well done, The Shambles. You made the event run like clockwork and enjoyable for all.

Great location and not a bad coffee. What let’s this place down is it’s ambience and decor which is just not very inviting. The bar/counter is in the window where ideally you would want to sit in order to see the shambles, watch the world go by and ultimately attract other passers by in. Instead customers are tucked away in the back in the dark. The furniture etc is all a bit dated adding to the feel. A few simple fixes of furniture, flooring, and just a little music would make this the most popular cafe in town. Moving the bar would transform it.

I would not recommend this café in any form at all. There were too many things wrong to write but basically the food available did not live up to expectations. You cannot order what is written up behind the counter as it is not all available. I ordered several things on behalf of the 4 of us visiting and only half of it was available. The lady said that she doesn't make the sandwiches to order as there is only herself there. Basically it is what is left or on the shelf or fridge to be had and that was very little to be honest. At 12 noon the soup wasn't even ready as it wasn't cooked yet so we couldn't even have that. I ended up with a toasted teacake (which I have to say was delicious) but when I said I did not want the butter and asked for an extra tiny pot of jam instead she told my brother it would be an extra 35p. He replied that we had return the 2 packets of butter and was told that the jam was 35p and the butter only 10p a packet, to which he replied, well in that case I owe you 15p! I don't think is really a good attitude to have with your customers if you want them to return. The good point was that we could take the dog in but that is all I can say really, just very limited choice.

My wife and I had great coffee, tea and cakes in a small but highly organised cafe run by efficient and friendly staff. This is a dog friendly venue not far from the bridge in Bradford-on-Avon. If the weather is fine, sit at one of the outside tables and soak in the atmosphere. At one end of The Shambles is a bookshop with new books at the front, and second-hand at the back. We were allowed to take our dog in to view both areas. Two dog friendly venues in one narrow, historical street!

I popped in for tea and hot chocolate with my 4 year old and baby. The service I received was unfriendly at best and at times bordered on supercilious. I asked for some toast for the baby but that was not possible despite toasted sandwiches being on the menu. I asked them for a roll as soup and a roll was also available but was told there were no dairy-free options on the menu and most bread contained dairy. When I asked if there was anything my baby could have, we were offered crisps which obviously have far too high a salt content for under-ones. When the hot chocolate came out, I asked how hot it was (as some places make them luke warm for kids so they can drink it straight away). I was told: “Well you’re his mother. Only mothers can tell what’s suitable for their children so you should try it.” I couldn’t as I had already explained I am dairy-free on account of the baby. Finally, there was no nappy changing table in the bathroom which made things a bit tricky. When you’ve had a difficult day, a visit to a cafe can be a little haven and break from life’s challenges. Not today though. I won’t be back and will be letting other parents of young children in the area know about my experiences. The Secret Garden Cafe across the road is so much friendlier, lovelier and tastier!

Popped in for a bit of lunch and respite from the rain on a soggy Monday. My partner and I, and our little dog, were warmly welcomed at the door. The cafe had the usual range of hot and cold drinks you'd expect, and to eat, a choice of split pea, spinach and nutmeg soup; bacon sandwich; or various prepared paninis and rolls from the fridge. We are both vegetarian so we took the soup, which was served with a brioche roll and was absolutely delicious. We also shared a cheese and tomato toasted panini which helped to warm us up!As we were about to leave, the heavens opened again, so we stayed for hot drinks and enjoyed a slice of yummy lemon, blueberry and honey cake between us. This is a lovely cosy little cafe and the lady (owner?) who served us was really friendly and accommodating. Yes, the menu is limited - but give me a few things done really well rather than a load of average stuff (and potentially lots of food wastage) any day. We live nearly an hour away from Bradford so unfortunately we won't be regulars but we would definitely go back if we were in the area, and highly recommend it to others :)

What’s happened to the cafe under the new management? No newspapers, no pastries, no croissants, no menu and not many customers either though the latter isn’t surprising given what have happened. Please don’t change everything that we loved about The Shambles Cafe. Customers hate change. You shut up shop for four days to redecorate but when you reopened it looked exactly the same except there was hardly any food on offer. I never understand why people take over a successful business and then discard most of the elements that contributed to its success. A plea to the new owners to please rethink.

Regularly popped in here when visiting friends, sometimes just for a cuppa and a teacake. The place is always busy, friendly staff, only 2 toilets though which can be a bit of a pain at times, especially as a step is involved

Stopped by for a bite to eat in a town that's got lots on offer, and was very happy. The hot roast meat bap was basically what's often called a hog roast sandwich in my part of the world, and was very generously filled with about an inch of sliced pork, plus apple sauce and stuffing, with a hunk of the crackling as a side. Big mugs of proper tea. The waitress was lovely too! I've given it an "excellent" rating since it was at the top of its game for what it was, even though it's not a Michelin-starred restaurant, and I'd happily go back for another roast pork sarnie if I was in town again.

Stopped here for breakfast last Saturday and was just so happy that we did. The staff were really lovely and friendly, happy and funny. We sat outside in the little cobbled street and they brought our breakfast and drinks out to us. Such a good breakfast! Nice thick bacon cooked properly with crispy edges, soft eggs that were still a little bit runny and perfect for dipping, mushrooms, beans, sausages etc all lovely too. I loved the little water bottles and glasses - little pot of proper butter, freshly squeezed orange juice - everything just felt really nice and cute. Really good value too. I'll definitely be returning for breakfast next time I get a chance!

We loved the atmosphere and friendly service and the coffees and cake really hit the spot on a very cold Sunday in Bradford-on-Avon.

Lovely cafe with large selection of cakes, sandwiches and decent coffee. we stopped here to refuel whilst riding King Alfred's Way. Friendly staff, clean toilets, sensible Covid precautions and next door to a little Nisa shop for anything else you need

Stopped on a trip from Cinderford to Romsey , have driven past many times but never had time to stop, husband and son had ‘small ‘ breakfast and I had toast and jam, the breakfast was a great size, quickly served and tasted great, really good value for money . Toilets and rest of premises are really clean and can’t wait to visit again

Food was lovely, my boyfriend and I haven’t enjoyed a meal as much as that in a while. Food and drinks are low price, especially considering the portion size. Service was good; they were fast and they made sure everything was okay. Definitely coming back☺️

There’s a lot of restaurants in westbury in such a small town but this is by far the best one not just in westbury but the whole of Wiltshire the only place I will eat and the prices are fantastic too recommended B’s special for someone with a big appetite like mine the only place that can defeat me A MUST TRY
