The Shama in Broxtowe

Very poor service. Tried to contact the manager. No respond. Food was tasteless, I tried to contact the manager. He didn't respond either. No customer service available. Will not recommend this place at all to trust for any issue regarding the food quality.

Ordered from here multiple times into Derby. The food never ever misses a beat! Always piping, always ready to serve. Sometimes a little spill in the bag from the sauce overflowing and some curry’s are a bit oily but that is how they are cooked! Out of all the curry takeaways we have had, my partner never eats them but she adores this place! 5 stars!

Our first time ordering and the food was great. Fresh ingredients, HUGE portions and packed in convenient boxes so any left overs can go in the fridge. Really enjoyed!

Food was late, chips were not cooked fresh for my order, very stale. Poppadoms were soft, and my korma was spicy. I have to have mild food, my partner tried my korma and also said it wasn’t mild. I’ve had food from Shama a while ago and the quality has gone down massively! Also, the delivery driver said nothing to me, just handed the food over, no apology for being late, no awareness of customer service. Don’t order from here!

Absolutely fabulous curry, best I’ve had in ages and wife agrees. Perfect strength and a sensible portion. Pilau rice was a great accompaniment and again very well cooked. Will definitely be ordering again.

Lamb chops and chicken wings were really nice. The prawns in the noodles tasted dry and hard.

Food was nice but portion size is small for the price. Not worth the money. Was also late so food wasn’t hot. Over £5 for two onion bhajis ridiculous. We got a promo code and even with that we felt ripped off.

food arrived 25 mins after the expected latest time. it was luke warm and "sweaty" from being in the containers. the food itself was very nice, but would have been even better had it been hot. specifically asked for no coriander but this was still put on everything as a garnish. it's a shame as a few tweaks and this would've been 5/5.

Curry’s tasted nice , used to always order from here when living in Beeston but it seems different then before, the curries are watery compared to the thicker ones they used to do, chips was soggy and seemed a little undercooked but other than that I really enjoyed the food but think I might try other Indians as this one just doesn’t hit the same

delivery time changed 3 times was supposed to be 3:30 didn't get it till 4:50 but the food was worth the wait

AVOID!!! My Pakistani husband visited for the first time this evening. The drinks fridge was broken so no cold drinks and they had food being stored in it. He ordered chicken tikka masala, 3 Roti’s and a mango lassi. the cost was £25 and this was shocking for a start, but he reluctantly paid expecting a decent curry. Bear in mind a large bag of atta costs a few pounds and they’re charging almost £3 for a single chapati (not a roti but even a roti costs nothing to make). It came out, all sauce, hardly any chicken, and stunk of coconut. Which isn’t how a masala should smell. The rotis were not rotis they were chapatis and when questioned she was adamant they were tandoori roti but having eaten them for his entire life he knows the difference between a roti and a chapati. His friend kept his and said the chicken in his biryanis was rubbery and very over cooked. My husband took the food back and said he wasn’t happy with it and requested a refund which she initially refused. She eventually agreed to refund him cash despite paying by card and he went elsewhere but if you’re looking for an authentic curry, go elsewhere. If you want to spend a fortune on a shockingly bad curry, then this is your place. You could make an authentic curry with roti for your entire from scratch for less than a tenner so god knows where they are trying to justify their prices for such bad food. AVOID.

Most of the food was good with quality and flavour, but the Biriyani rice was off. The Biriyani had an off putting smell to it and the rice is sticky and slimy, as though it's not freshly cooked and had been left out for a good few days in a warm climate, leaving it inedible. I want my money back for it but there is no option for help. That's why I left this review instead. Other than that all the other food was exceptional, the delivery service was on point with the timing and very polite.

Perfect as usual, Shama never failed me. The best Indian Takeaway in Nottingham. Please keep it up. The food quality is very good and the taste is very delicious.

Edit : not sure why there’s so many disappointing reviews. Me and my family have eaten at shama countless times and we’ve never been disappointed. I eat the vegan meals and my parents both eat the meat ones, from curries to the kebabs and it never disappoints so don’t let a bad review put you off. We think it’s great! I had the vegan mixed vegetable rice and it was amazing best rice I’ve ever had easily. Also had vegetable samosa and meat samosa and both absolutely delicious, lots of fillings nice and crispy edges. No complaints about this place been going years :)

The quality of food was exceptional, quite frankly some of the nicest Indian food we have ever had. However the wait for it to be delivered was too long. The estimated delivery time was 25mins but it was closer to 2hrs. It’s a good job the food tasted great when it finally did arrive.

seems to be a regular occurrence with this take away the delivery time always gets pushed back at busy times but the food is always great , although starting to get cool by the time it arrived this time

Oh dear - where to start. Nearly two hours to deliver rice, mixed grill and naans. Everything was cold (meat was at 40C), salad was warm, naans in a plastic bag so soggy. TBF, once warmed, the keema rice was nice and the onion bajii was the best I've had. However, the keema nan interior consisted of translucent lamb and the grill consisted of that bajii plus three tiny slices of chicken and a small shish kebab. Even after a 40% discount I paid neatly £25 - if I'd paid the full amount...........

Absolutely awful. Ordered food at 6:15 and it said half an hour, by 7:30 there was still no food so we called them and they said it would be another half an hour, 45 mins go by still no food. We called them again and apparently the driver is still half an hour away!By this time it’s 8:30, over 2 hours after our order was placed, I was then told the driver would still be a further 30 mins because he’s knew and he’s lost, so that time wasn’t guaranteed either! Starving and out £40.

Best Indian take away, they have significantly improved their delivery times. Very happy with the food and LOVE that they have great tasting veggie/vegan options.

only place we order curries for the last 10 years, and normally its amazing. This time, it wasn't as good. We ordered, waited for the ready for collection to appear on the app, but was told that it wasn't ready, also was spicy when we ordered mild :(

we have ordered 2 Rogan josh , naan and a rice. We finished both containers, scraped all the sauce out because it was that tasty. I have tried many takeaways in Nottingham and yours so far is the best in terms of flavour balance. love it!

Absolutely disgusted waited almost 2 hours called and was told it was out for delivery 30 mins later tried to call again 3 times no answer so I started to cook something instead and it turned up 20 mins later so almost 3 hours waiting the woman that came to deliver demanded we pay for the food after we had said we didn’t want it after waiting for such a long time

Delayed delivery but a little grace is given as they are based outside of Derby. Food was lovely and fresh. Arrived warm but a little microwave blast fixed that. Would deffo order again
